As Toph Beifong walked through the large crowd of people at Ember Island, she muttered curses to herself. 'Katara's just too proud to admit that earthbending will be more important than water against the firelord,' she thought triumphantly.
Too lost in her thoughts, trying to figure out the perfect to use on the most evil person in the world, she bumped into two fire nation guards.
She didn't bother apologizing because a normal fire nation citizen would never say sorry. If you did it was only a sign that you were weak.
For the firebenders being the bad guys she didn't hate the rules. Everyones to stuck up trying to be the strongest they didn't notice she was blind. She would actually like it when her friends forgot, sometimes she wouldn't even correct them.
"Hey watch where you're going, little girl!" The voice drew her back to reality in an instant. She could feel one of the guards looking down at her. She tilted her head just so he could see her eyes.
She almost laughed when she felt his heart rate skyrocket. 'This could be fun,' she thought deviously to herself.
"Does it look like I can!" she said, waving her hand in front of her face. "Wel- umm-Nevermind" he said, giving up and walking away, his heart still beating extremely fast.
'Not as fun as that guy who passed out,' she thought, slightly annoyed that there was no big reaction.
She quickly made her way through the busy part of town before turning up a narrow path leading to a tall hill. When she reached the top she found a spot that seemed to be sheltered pretty well if someone walked by.
She took off her space rock bracelet. She felt it roll around in her hands, this rock was very different from both metal and earth. It was almost a mix of both and she had to focus on all the minerals inside to move the rock.
As she put all her attention on the rock blocking out all other vibrations around her, she used careful movement to form the rock into a blade shape.
The sharp rock sped in a straight line and with much concentration toph was able to have the blade bend so it curved just right and could easily speed around corners.
She soon pulled the rock back commanding all the fibers in the rock back to the bracelet she could easily wear. She smiled down at the bracelet.
She stopped when she sensed someone. She turned around quickly as she heard a fwt sound and a sudden pain in her arm.
She realized that her legs could no longer support her as she crumpled to the ground. Her eyes kept fluttering as she heard the sounds of footsteps approaching. She fell backward into darkness.
