Some Odd Years Ago
Holding his notebook on heroes close to his chest, Izuku walked over to one of Japan's rising heroes. The man was lounging at the moment on a park bench near a water fountain, he had his arms stretched out on the backrest and had his head tilted back. As Izuku approached the hero, he could see the man seemed to be dozing off. Once Izuku was close enough, he shifted a bit from nervousness on how to get the man's attention.
"If you have a question, kid, ask!" The man said all of a sudden while stretching and yawning, Izuku however jumped a bit in the abruptness. As the hero smacked his lips and sat back up straight, Izuku could finally get a good look at the Hero. Heaven Breaker. He wasn't sure what the hero's motif was supposed to be, seeing as how nothing about the man had anything to do with biblical iconography.
Izuku calmly breathed before responding to the hero, his eyes hardened and gripped his notebook in his hands with anticipation. "Uh, Mr-"
The hero chuckled at Izuku and waved him off, "Kid, Just Kamina will do, no need for formalities." He said with mirth.
"Uh…right!" Izuku stammered before continuing to speak, "Kamina! Sir! Do you think I can be a hero without a quirk!?" He asked with some embarrassment and hope for his dream.
Kamina blinked with an unsure look on his face, making Izuku fear the worse; Izuku's fears were made worse when Kamina laughed uproariously and slapped his knee while doing so, causing Izuku to wilt in despair. "Sure you can kid!" Only to perk up and look on with awe at Kamina when the hero said he could be a hero.
"YOU DO!" Izuku yelled with excitement, before ducking his head down in embarrassment while his face was red. "I mean, you think I really can be a hero?" He softly spoke with tears forming at the corner of his eyes, he looked down as he remembered all the negativity he's been given about being quirkless.
A hand was placed on Izuku's head, forcing him to look up as Kamina ruffled his hair up. "Hey, I'd be a hypocrite if I said no, you're looking at a quirkless hero right now!" The man declared with a smirk while thumbing his chest.
Izuku's mouth dropped in shock while his eyes shined in awe, "You mean…" he tried to think of how to respond to the revelation that Kamina was quirkless. The hero bent at his knees and looked at Izuku square in the face, he placed his hands on the boy's shoulders. "Listen, what's your name kid?" Kamina asked.
"Izuku, sir!" He responded excitedly, only to earn a whack upside the head by Kamina with a faux angered look. "Call me Bro." Kamina demanded from Izuku as he rested his arms on his knees as he continued to stay at eye level with Izuku, he thumbed his chest once more. "Afterall, we quirkless heroes gotta look out for one another, right?" He smirked in jest.
Izuku nodded with tears breaking at the edges of his eyes from being admonished by Kamina and his slap, he soldiered on through the minor pain and sniffled a bit. Kamina stood up and placed his hands against his hips as a stray wind blew across them, the coat that hung off of Kamina's shoulders flapped in the wind while he pointed at Izuku. "Izuku, you just gotta believe in yourself." He began to say with a grin.
Izuku gulped in weariness. "But Kamina…er…Bro!" Izuku began to say, before correcting himself when Kamina was giving him a perturbed look, "What if-" he tried to say, only to be slapped again upside the head from Kamina. "Never doubt yourself lil bro!" Kamina shouted as he thumbed at his chest.
"I believe you can be a hero, believe in yourself!" Kamina then pointed at Izuku's chest and jabbed at the area where his heart was. "Believe in the Kamina that believes in you, Izuku. Never forget that!" He declared as the stray wind continued to blow and emphasized the moment between Izuku, the boy's eyes glistening with hope as he smiled and gave Kamina a nod.
"I won't let you down…bro!" Izuku shouted with excitement and happiness, "Just you wait, I'll be a hero in no time!" He added.
Kamina patted Izuku's shoulder, "That's the spirit." He said before taking his leave, and as Izuku watched Kamina leave, he could see a drill iconography on the back of Kamina's coat.
"Remember lil bro." Kamina shouted over as he continued to leave, only to stop and glance at Izuku with a two finger salute. "Believe in yourself, believe in yourself and the Kamina in your heart that believes in you. Don't stop believing, even if you have to drill beyond the heavens to declare your might as the best hero." Kamina declared, before finally leaving. As the man left, he picked up a sheathed weapon and leaned it on his shoulder as he held his weapon in his hand.
Izuku meanwhile sniffled and smiled, wiped his arm across his eyes to rid the tears that threatened to spill, he gripped his notebook tighter and hugged it against his chest closer. "Drill…" Izuku murmured with awe at Kamina's words, however one word made Izuku fixated on what to do in the next few years till he could apply for U.A. Highschool. "A drill to shatter the heavens…"
Not more than a year later, tragedy would strike and Japan would lose one its most promising heroes to date. In an effort to stop a Villain from killing two heroes and the rest of the populace, Kamina managed to stall the Villain long enough for the citizens to escape from the area. By the time hero backup arrived, the streets and surrounding buildings were destroyed; Muscular was laying out on the street with two missing arms and was comatose, Kamina however was a different story.
Heaven Breaker was found dead standing up while crossing his arms, police and medics were baffled as the hero was smiling even in death while standing up. The hero's sheathed weapon was stabbed deep into the street, Kamina's coat was left on the weapon, all the while leaving his upper body bare to the world. His front bore scars, but not a speck was found on his back. Kamina never once turned his back, and that was how he went out. Always facing his opponents head on, never retreating and never giving up.
Present
U.A. High School Entrance Exam
Participants were baffled as one of the bots was hijacked and being driven by a green haired boy, Izuku on the other hand could only smile in determination as he controlled the exam-bot using his latest invention. After tireless months, years, Izuku crafted a multipurpose drill; After many trials and errors, Izuku managed to make his multipurpose drill as compact as a boxing glove to fit over his fist, and now he was putting the fruit of his labors to the test by hijacking one of the bots and combating against the other ones.
"Two minutes remaining examinees!"
Izuku stopped piloting his hijacked bot, and breathed a sigh of relief. He was sure he'd earn enough points, however just as he was about to get off his ride, the ground began to shake as one of the zero pointers made its presence known. The enormous bot was stomping its way through the place, however Izuku's attention was brought to the girl from earlier that was calling out for help as her foot had gotten stock under a piece of rubble.
And it was just her either, a few other contestants were stuck or too scared to move as the zero pointers stomped its way towards them. If it was just the girl stuck, Izuku could simply get her outta there and take off, but there were others too, which meant Izuku had to face off against the Zero pointer and try halting the bot. He clenched the multipurpose drill controls as he sat on the hijacked bot, his eyes wavered with unease as he stared up at the approaching bot.
"Believe in yourself, believe in the Kamina in your heart that believes in you."
Izuku's eyes hardened and controlled the hijacked bot to start running at the zero pointer, "GIGA!" Izuku began to say as the bot began to glow blue, he drove it up one of the buildings to land on the roofs and continued piloting it towards the zero pointer. Its arms began to buckle in and twist until both of its appendages became two long drills.
"DRILL!" Izuku yelled as he controlled his hijacked bot to leap up high into the air and bound higher from roof to higher roof until he could finally leap off the highest building and direct the drill arms towards the Zero Pointer's chest. "HEAVEN!" He yelled as his hijacked bot slammed its drill arms into the chest of the enormous bot. "BREAKER!" Izuku finished yelling as the metal chest of the zero pointer began to buckle and twist until Izuku drilled through the front and out the back.
As Izuku crashed his hijacked bot onto the ground below, the zero pointer no longer walked forward, and before long, it toppled over onto its back. Izuku however was in its path of collapsing, and so with every fiber of his being, he pulled his multipurpose drill out of the bot he was driving and punched it upwards. "The drill to pierce the heavens! This for you bro!" Izuku hollered as he pierced his way upwards through the back of the fallen zero pointer, and as he tunneled through the insides of the bot, he briefly wondered if Kamina would be proud.
From out of the left over chest of the bot, Izuku bursted out and the momentum carried him up into the sky high up. As Izuku hung high in the air momentarily, he smiled at his drill on his fist with pride.
"My!" Nezu began to say with an overjoyed expression, stood up and clapped his hands/paws? "Talk about a closing act!" He mused.
"And none of what the kid did was a quirk?" Toshinori Yagi from nearby asked with uncertainty.
"Says right here." Shota said with a tired tone as he held up Izuku's exam papers and medical information.
Nezu hopped off from his chair and proceeded to exit the examination room, "And what was that he yelled out? Giga Drill Heaven Breaker?" He questioned, "Sounds familiar, doesn't it?" He chortled in amusement, before finally leaving the room.
Hizashi smirked over at Aizawa, "That brings back a lot of memories of a certain friend, doesn't it." He said with wistful fondness.
"...Amongst other things…" Shota sighed as he leafed through Izuku's school records.
AN; Let's see you grit those Teeth Izuku!
