Ch Four
At the sight of her oldest son kissing Sigrid's fingers' one more time, tears fell down Dis' face as she placed her hands over her mouth. Her happy moment was interrupted by a groan from Thorin. Dis jabbed her older brother in the ribs with her elbow. Lowering her voice to a whisper, to Thorin, Dis chided. "Shut it." Flashing Thorin a stern look when he shifted his piercing blue eyes to hers. "Don't you dare ruin this moment for me." A smile pulled at Thorin's mouth, but he kept quiet.
Dis watched Fili offer Sigrid his arm, which she eagerly took; Dis' own blue eyes following their movement towards the front gate; walking out onto the 'front porch' and down the steps towards Dale. Dis felt an arm wrap around her waist.
"Are you alright darling?" Bilbo pressed a kiss to Dis' cheek. Dis shifted her eyes to lock with Bilbo's warm brown ones.
"I want to go watch my son dance."
Boisterous laughter and upbeat conversation filled Dale's city square as people mingled together along the sidelines. Fresh snow began to fall while upbeat music filled the air. The people of Laketown grabbed their partner by the hand and pulled them out into the center of the square to begin moving to the beat of the music as Fili guided Sigrid to the square's center to begin beat fluidly swaying to the beat before the tall pine tree; never missing a step or a sway; fluidly, their bodies moved as one.
"I think my Amad approves of you." Fili informed Sigrid while they danced to the music that had suddenly been replaced by slow dancing.
"I do too." Sigrid realized Fili's face was inches from hers. She had been so caught up with enjoying their dancing together, that she hadn't realized what was happening until that moment; Fili slowing their movements down even further; enjoying each other. Sigrid felt her heart flutter in her chest. Fili rested his forehead against hers.
"What are you thinking?" Sigrid kept her brown eyes locked with Fili's deep blue ones; catching the smile that spread his mouth.
"I was just thinking about the day we met - do you remember?"
"How could I forget?" Sigrid smiled as she recounted the memory. "Then later on, I had dared to venture to Ravenhill after learning you were up there; daring to try and save you. I found you; helplessly being held in the grip by the white Orc. I didn't have anything on me to save you with - other than a small dagger." Sigrid's eyes darkened. "But it was either let the Orc kill you or try and save you; choosing the latter, I dared to distract the monster with a dagger that might as well have been a toothpick to him. But I didn't care. All I knew was that I had to save you; managing to do so, then Thorin charged in and he and the Orc battled one another after you were released."
Fili and Sigrid had stopped dancing altogether. Both he and Sigrid felt something nudge them to look up. So they did, and their eyes took in the mistletoe hanging from one of the pine tree's many branches above their heads. Their eyes re met, and this time, their lips were only a breath away.
Sigrid kept her brown eyes locked with Fili's blue ones, and she wondered what the Dwarf Prince was seeing in her eyes while he stared back at her. She felt herself being pulled closer; body pressed against his, and after a minute, Fili captured her mouth with his.
"I love you, Sigrid." Fili spoke when they came up for air.
"I love you too, Fili." Sigrid smiled a tear-filled smile. Fili captured her mouth again and cheering erupted from Bilbo, Dwarves and Sigrid's family alike.
