Chapter 2: Charade
EPOV
I was going to Newton's Olympic Outfitters, of course, neither me nor my family would be using the things I bought, but it was all part of keeping the charade going we would either donate it or keep it for a while in case a human decided to visit, it didn't often happen but it was still a possibility.
Oh! I've forgotten to introduce myself, I'm Edward Anthony Masen Cullen, and when I tell you this, don't pretend like you don't know exactly who I am or rather what I am. I'm a vampire and I can read minds, don't pretend like you didn't know already I can read your mind. Speaking of which, back to the current time.
I got out of my car when suddenly I saw the face that had been center stage in Charlie Swan's mind for the past month and a half: Isabella Swan, she was just as Charlie had pictured her in his mind, I didn't notice anything unusual, that is until I tried to read her mind, she had a silent mind, but how is that even possible! I thought to myself as I approached her. Another strange thing about her: rather than stiffening (what was usually a natural response when a human encountered my kind for the first time) she smiled at me. "Hello My name is Edward Cullen," I said in my human soothing voice. "You must be Isabella Swan," I continued in the same tone. "Actually it's Bella." she said in a calm voice that didn't last, "How did you know my name?" She asked in a slightly startled tone, "Well you're someone new here which does not tend to occur, also your father Chief Swan has not been able to keep from talking about you since you told him you were coming," I said in an even more calming tone than I usually used, even for humans.
Then I inhaled, with the intent of speaking to this fascinating girl some more, but I froze her scent was so mouth-watering that I nearly attacked her and drained her dry, but I stopped myself forcing myself to freeze in place, thinking of my family, I didn't even breath I stayed frozen for exactly sixty-eight seconds before I could be sure that if I moved I wouldn't attack, then I said: "I have to go" and walked away as fast as I could without drawing too much attention to myself, I got onto my car and drove away as fast as I could.
