Chapter 4: Talking
EPOV
As I drive I think about going back, should I just turn around and kill the girl? No. I'm better than that. Am I though? I've killed so many people in the past. What's one more? NO. I think to myself I will not kill this human. Even if it means I have to leave I will not kill this girl, I will not kill her, I will not kill her, I keep repeating this in my head willing it to be true. I've arrived home. I get out of the car and see Alice at the front door. "Edward!'' She said "why did you almost kill Isabella Swan?!" she continued "Edward Anthony Masen Cullen! Answer me!" "Easy Alice!" I command "I can't answer you if you don't give me a chance to speak!" I continued "I have to leave Alice, if I don't what you saw in your vision will come true." (Oh I forgot to mention Alice can see the future) "I almost killed a human today, I can't take the risk that she's in my class, if she is I won't be able to handle that and I'll kill her because she is the most Delicious smelling human that I've ever smelled so get out of my way!" "No." "NO! Did you just say no! I'm trying to stop myself from killing her, and you're saying No!" "Sorry Edward," she says, "but I won't let you leave until we talk about this as a family," and with that, I said "FINE!" and went up to my room, and waited for my family to get home, I had to wait until Carlisle got home from work so it took about ten hours, it was about six-thirty when he got home, "Edward," Carlisle said, "Come down here please, we need to talk." "I'm Coming Carlisle," I said as I walked down the stairs, and then as I sat down at the table I smelled fresh blood, not just any blood but Bella Swan's blood. I froze "Carlisle what's that smell?" I said and my voice was surprisingly calm "oh sorry some of my last patient's blood got on my coat, what's wrong Edward?" he asked, seeing my expression, "would your last patient's name happen to be Isabella Swan?" I inquired. "Yes, how did you know?" Alice's expression suddenly filled with understanding and she said "because she's the reason we're having this conversation." "what?" Carlisle asked I decided to step in at that moment "has any one person ever smelled better to any of you than the rest?" "Oh," Emmett said "I understand" he continued his mind suddenly filled with a memory, a night many years ago, he was on an errand for Rosalie he wouldn't have even remembered it except that a woman was hanging some sheets out to dry and just as he was walking by the wind shifted and he was hit with a face-full of the woman's sent and attacked before he could think "ugh," I said the memory was worse with Bella's sent still in the room "Carlisle can you please change out of that jacket" I pleaded "I can't take the scent of her blood" "Okay Edward" he replied "thank you, Carlisle," I said relieved, the more I smell of this girl the more likely I was to get up and hunt her, Carlisle was back in a few minutes and he said, "Now what happened Edward?" "Nothing yet, but something will if I don't leave." I said "No," Esme said immediately, I understood this reaction, the last time I left it was to hunt humans. Of course, there was a difference, this time I was leaving to stop myself from killing a human. But Esme didn't see it that way, she saw it as her son leaving, and - though she'd never admit it - she blamed Bella for it, and in a way so did I, but that wasn't fair it wasn't her fault she smelled so good, she couldn't help it, I would leave town, at least for a week, long enough to gain enough control to stop myself from killing her, to keep from exposing myself and my family, I told my family my plan and we all agreed that it was a good plan, but thinking of Bella got me thinking… "So did Bella hurt herself anyway?" I asked quite curious actually "she fell down the stairs" Carlisle answered me more thoroughly in his head trying not to think of her blood for my sake (and not totally succeeding) apparently Bella was exceptionally clumsy she managed to fall down the stairs and crash strait into a table holding a vase which had fallen on to the floor and sent sharp pieces of glass strait for her, she had required numerous stitches and even more bandages.
After getting my answers and saying my goodbyes I drove away.
