Tibbs fanfiction is so much fun to write. I love to write, so here we are with another. R&R!
Disclaimer: I own nothing from NCIS...
NCIS...
Tony grumbled as he walked into the bright bullpen. He threw his bag behind his desk and threw himself into his chair. Worst weekend ever. Fucking hate relationships, he thought. He rested his forehead against his desk with a sigh and took a deep breath. Time to put on the mask. Tony sat up and jumped in surprise to see his boss, Gibbs, standing at his desk with a raised brow. Gibbs continued past him and sat at his desk. Tony got into his email and read through any that looked important. Nothing. Shocker, he thought as he relaxed back against his chair. He blew out a breath and stood up. "I'm going to Abby's," he stated as he walked away. He got to the elevator and sighed in relief that no one was inside. He pushed the button for Abby's floor and leaned against the cool steel of the elevator wall. Why can't I find someone to love? Am I that bad of a person? he thought as he rode down to the right floor. As the doors opened, he rushed out and into Abby's lab with a half-smile. Abby stood at her desk as she clicked through different tabs on her computer. Tony cleared his throat, making Abby turn around. Abby smiled and rushed to Tony. "Hey Abs," Tony said as he wrapped his arms around her. Abby squeezed tightly and looked up to Tony.
"How was your weekend? Anything exciting?" Abby asked as they walked to the back of her lab where the futon was and sat down. Tony shrugged and sighed. "Oh no, what happened? Did Kevin stand you up again?" Abby asked softly. Tony shook his head. Abby was the only one that knew Tony was bisexual. Abby frowned softly. "Then what happened?"
"He dumped me," Tony stated. Abby wrapped her arms around Tony's shoulders.
"Oh, Tony! I'm so sorry! Why? Is he stupid?" Abby asked a mile a minute. Tony shrugged again.
"Might have something to do with the younger guy on his lap that I saw," Tony admitted quietly. Tony growled lowly.
"How dare he! He's gonna regret ever hurting you, Tony! I'll make sure of it!" Abby smirked. Tony chuckled softly and hugged Abby.
"Don't worry about me, I'll figure myself out. Okay? I-" Tony was interrupted by his phone ringing. It was Gibbs. He answered it quickly. "Yes, boss?"
"Case, Dinozzo. Let's go. McGee's gassing the truck." With that the conversation was done. Tony sighed and ran a hand through his hair. He stood up from the futon with Abby following him shortly after.
"We got a case, Abs. I'll be back, and I'll bring you a Caf!Pow," Tony smiled softly. Abby nodded and hugged him one last time. Tony ran out of the room and went to the truck.
NCIS...
All three men hopped out of the truck and went to the back to grab their gear. Tony blew out a slow breath and grabbed his camera and sketch book. The men turned to the scene before them. A young male petty officer laid in the grass with an ice pick in his skull. His skin was pale, and his eyes were glazed over. The man was still in uniform. The field they were in had nothing but a small barn in it for the cows that would be transferred to the field. The farmer's son was coming to the field to check it out before moving the herd when he saw the body. Gibbs turned to his agents. "McGee evidence, bag and tag. Dinozzo, shoot and sketch. Duck will be here in a few for our marine," he ordered as he walked towards the local police officers and the farmers. Tony sighed as he began to take pictures of the marine.
"Tony check this out," McGee called out. Tony walked over towards him. There were muddy footprints in the field. "What size you think it is?" he asked as Tony took pictures. Tony shrugged. McGee nodded as he began to take a mold of the shoe print. "Better safe than sorry. These look fresher than other prints," McGee explained as Tony watched him. Tony nodded.
"I'm going to take more pictures of the petty officer," Tony said as he walked away. McGee huffed softly. Tony rolled his eyes. "What, McGee?"
"I'm just shocked to not hear any jokes from you."
"About what, McGee?" Tony crossed his arms as he stared down the man. McGee sighed.
"Never mind, you're clearly in a bad mood," McGee said as he stood up and walked away. Tony ran his hands down his face and walked towards their victim once more. He took more pictures and close-ups of the man, the weapon, etc. After his pictures he drew up some sketches of the area and crime scene. He sighed as the slight breeze pushed through the field. Tony felt like a weight was placed on his shoulders. He felt the emotions from everything that had happened over the weekend. From the betrayal of the man he was seeing, to the thoughts he had of picking up and leaving at the drop of a hat. A hand on his shoulder pulled him out of his thoughts and he turned around to see Gibbs standing behind him.
"What's up, Boss?" Tony asked as the mask covered his true emotion. Gibbs glared softly at the younger agent, studying his facial expressions. He could tell Tony put his guard up. He looked down to his note pad with a sigh.
"The farmer said he sent his son out here to check the fencing to make sure everything was all set; kid found the body. They immediately called 9-1-1. Local LEO's didn't touch anything as soon as they seen it was a marine in uniform. Called us," Gibbs explained. Tony nodded. They stood in silence for a moment before McGee came over.
"So, this is Petty Officer Timothy Baker. 24 years old according to his driver's license in his wallet," McGee said as he shook the wallet and threw it into an evidence bag. Gibbs nodded. "Ducky is just now pulling up, I'll go help with the body," he said as he jogged towards the van. Gibbs turned to Tony.
"Ya good, Dinozzo?" Gibbs asked softly. Tony nodded once more.
"Fine," Tony replied. Gibbs gave a curt nod and walked towards the body. Tony sighed softly and went to the van to drop off his equipment. As he set everything inside, he rested his hands on the back of said van and dropped his head. Get yourself together, Dinozzo, he thought as he closed the doors of the van. He leaned against it as he watched the rest of the team load the victim into Ducky's van. McGee waved goodbye to Ducky and Palmer as they walked back towards Tony.
"Hop in, let's go," Gibbs ordered as he went around the front of the truck to hop in. McGee and Tony both got in the van, and they headed back to the office.
NCIS...
Tony looked through his pictures his took and sketched and studied them carefully. McGee was going through bank records and cell phone records. Gibbs was out on a coffee run. Tony rubbed his eyes. The clock on his computer said 1:30 PM. So far, nothing interesting had shown up, everything was still being processed by Abby and Ducky. His mind drifted to the weekend once more...
The Weekend:
Tony walked into his apartment and called out softly. "Kevin?" Nothing but a groan. He went towards his bedroom and gasped. "Kevin!" Tony shouted. Kevin and another man were on the bed, making out like hormonal teens. Kevin turned to look at Tony. Tony's chest tightened.
"I'm sorry, Tony, I didn't want you to find out this way. I was going to break up with you on our date tomorrow!" Kevin explained as he hopped out of Tony's bed. "I didn't think you'd be home for another hour or so," Kevin said sadly. Tony's head fell to his chest, and he crossed his arms. "Tony," Kevin put a hand on Tony's shoulder. He backed away and grit his teeth. He looked up to Kevin.
"Get out, and don't ever come back. Get all your shit and get out!" Tony shouted. Kevin tried to speak but Tony glared at him. Kevin nodded.
"I'm sorry, Tone," Kevin mumbled as he packed his clothes out of the extra drawer in the dresser. Tony held his hand over his mouth and closed his eyes. He heard both men leaving and he felt the tear slip down his cheek. He wiped it away and grabbed his eyes in his pocket.
"Fuck!" He yelled as he stormed out of his apartment to go to the closest bar.
The head slap brought him out of his thoughts, and he looked up. Gibbs stared at him and crossed his arms. Tony cleared his throat and rubbed his face. "Yes, Gibbs?" Tony asked softly.
"What do you got?" Gibbs asked as he leaned down towards Tony. Tony showed him the pictures.
"This is it," he said.
"What do you mean that's it?"
"That's all I've done so far. Get off my back, Gibbs." Tony seethed lowly. Gibbs glared at him.
"Conference room."
"Busy, Gib-"
"Not an option, Dinozzo," Gibbs said as he stalked towards the elevator. Tony looked back to McGee, and he shrugged. Dinozzo groaned and followed Gibbs. They hopped onto the vacant elevator and Tony waited for him to stop it. Gibbs stopped the elevator and crossed him arms. "What the hell is your problem today, Dinozzo?"
"I'm fine," Tony spat. Gibbs rolled his eyes.
"Really? Because you've been short and distant all day."
"Well, it's personal, so don't worry about it," Tony shot back. He sighed and chuckled darkly. "I mean since when have you cared? Really? Because to me, it seems like all you care about is the stupid cases we get, and nothing more. You've been quieter than usual, and that should say something because you're awfully quiet. Not to mention, you've been short with me too for the last few months. So how about this: What's your problem?" Tony ranted. Gibbs leaned back against the wall and sighed. "Exactly. Now if we can just go back up, that'd be great." Tony reached for the emergency stop button but was stopped by Gibbs' hand. He groaned and pushed Gibbs' hand away. He grabbed Tony's hand again and pinned it to the wall above his head. Tony swallowed the lump in his throat and felt the panic rise in his chest. Gibbs released his hand and watched it fall to his side.
"I've always cared, Tony. Some days more than I should," Gibbs added softly. He started the elevator back up and the doors opened up to the bullpen. Gibbs stepped out and walked back to the bullpen, leaving Tony in the elevator. The doors closed and Tony felt the heat rise in his cheeks. All Tony could feel was shock, confusion and wonder.
"What the hell!" He said and punched the wall next to him.
NCIS..
2100 hours. Nothing new to the case. The man had a spotless record. Everyone liked him. Nothing to report against him. Gibbs was pacing the bullpen making everyone anxious. "There has to be something," Gibbs said as he rubbed his hands down his face. "Coffee," he said as he left the bullpen. As he left for the elevator, he could feel eyes following him. He hopped in the elevator and sighed. Something tells me this will be a long case, he thought as he rode down to the lobby. He walked out of the elevator and out towards the small cafe in the lobby for a coffee. The young barista smiled softly when she seen Gibbs and started to make his coffee. She knew just how he liked it. Gibbs nodded towards her and handed her a five to pay for the coffee. She took it and he walked back towards the elevator. He hummed as he took a sip of his coffee. His phone started to ring. He pulled it off his hips and answered. "Gibbs," he said.
"Hey Gibbs, I got something for you," Abby said on the other end of the phone. Gibbs hung up and went to the elevator to go to the lab. Once at Abby's, he set his coffee down on her desk and waited for her to talk.
"Whatcha got, Abs?" He asked. Abby smiled.
"So, I went through his clothing again and all the evidence and dusted for prints once more, looked for anything secretive, you know, the usual," she paused for a moment. Gibbs nodded and waited for more. "There was a pocket on the inside of Baker's coat! So, I looked inside and there was a small piece of paper. I dusted for prints and got a partial. I'm running it now," she continued. "The paper was a phone number for a woman. It said, 'Marlene Snow, 453-3325.'" Abby finished and leaned on her heels. Gibbs smiled and kissed her cheek.
"Good work Abs. I want that phone number, where is it?" Gibbs asked. Abby snickered softly.
"Looking for a date, Gibbs?"
"Something like that," he replied. He planned on calling her in to interrogate her. Asking her about the date, etc. Abby handed Gibbs the note in the bag she had put it in and smiled.
"Have fun, Gibbs," she said as she turned towards her desk. Gibbs chuckled softly and left the lab with the note in his hand as well as his coffee. He got to the elevator and rode up to the bullpen. He saw his two agents talking, but he wasn't sure what. He walked towards their desks and watched as they scrambled back to their desks. Gibbs handed Tony the phone number.
"Call this number in the morning. Possible suspect. For now, go home and get some sleep," Gibbs ordered. Both men nodded and cleaned up their desks.
"Thank you, boss. See you in the morning," McGee said as he left the bullpen. Gibbs nodded and cleaned up his desk as well.
"Dinozzo, with me," Gibbs said as he walked past his desk. Tony groaned quietly.
"Why?"
"Because you and I are gonna have a talk," Gibbs said. Tony groaned again and he followed Gibbs to the elevator. Gibbs hit the elevator button for interrogation and Tony furrowed his brow.
"Why are we going to interrogation?" Tony asked. Gibbs ignored him. Tony sighed and followed Gibbs to the interrogation room. He sat in the chair and crossed his legs as Gibbs sat across from him. It was silent for a minute before Gibbs spoke.
"What is going on with you today?" he asked. Tony rolled his eyes and started to get up. Gibbs glared at him. "Sit. Now," he ordered. Tony sighed and sat back down.
"I'm fine, what is your problem?" Tony snapped. Gibbs crossed his arms.
"Nothing, but when my agent is distracted all day and not 100 percent, I tend to take notice," Gibbs replied. Tony looked into Gibbs eyes. The worry in his boss' eyes were overwhelming. Tony bit his lip and looked down into his lap.
"Really, Gibbs. I'll get over it. It's just a bad weekend," Tony mumbled. Gibbs sighed and leaned forward on the table. Tony continued to look away from him. He couldn't look him in the face. He felt trapped. His emotions were bubbling over, and he didn't want Gibbs to see. Gibbs got up and dragged his chair next to Tony's. He turned Tony to face him.
"Tony," Gibbs said softly. Tony looked up slowly and sighed. His eyes brimmed with tears. He couldn't do this. "Join me at my house," Gibbs said once his agent had looked up. He saw the tears that threatened to escape. Tony nodded softly and both men got up and left the interrogation room.
