Prompt: Fake dating

Mark and Kieran had been dating for a while. They weren't too open about it, though – the bullies at school were most definitely homophobic. Kieran they wouldn't touch, due to the influence his father had, but Mark? Definitely.

And when rumors began flying around that Mark and Kieran's relationship was more than platonic, Mark turned to his friend Cristina and asked her to help.

"You want me to pretend to date you to get the bullies off your back?" Cristina said slowly, seeming to struggle to understand.

Mark nodded. "Yeah, if you're fine with that."

"Is Kieran?"

Mark nodded again.

"I'm in," Cristina said, but there was a faint blush on her cheeks that confused Mark. What was that about?

It took fake dating Cristina for Mark to realize that maybe his feelings for her weren't as platonic as he thought. And since Kieran was his boyfriend, he went to him first.

"I think I'm in love with Cristina," Mark said quickly, bracing himself for Kieran's anger.

But Kieran only nodded. "I could tell. You weren't too good at hiding it."

Mark looked up, confused. "Huh?"

"I'm in love with Cristina too," Kieran said. "I admit, I was a bit jealous of her at first, but actually getting to know her… How could I not love her?"

"Maybe Cristina and I should stop fake dating and start actually dating," Mark murmured.

Kieran nodded, smiling. "That seems like a dream."

Mark and Kieran both asked Cristina out on an actual date. She said yes.
