Metamorphosis: Rebirth
A/N: Hello everyone. I thought I try my hand at creating a continuation to the manga Metamorphosis (Emergence). More will be explained at the end of the chapter. I do not own Metamorphosis.
It was a normal late afternoon at a local eatery in the city of Tokyo. Inside the eatery, Ryota Suzuki, a 20-year-old male with neck-length black hair, brown eyes and glasses packed his busboy uniform in his brown duffle bag. He clocked out as he had just finished his shift for the day.
"Hey Goji, I'm heading home." He called to the bald, portly, middle-aged head-chef.
"Alright. See you Monday." He waved off, not even looking in his direction. Ryota sighed as he just left the restaurant with a dejected expression.
"My name is Ryota Suzuki, and I work at a local eatery. It's not exactly famous, but my boss hopes it will be when a food critic gives his restaurant a great review. That's why he's always pushing his chefs to cook at their best. Everyone but me. I got hired as a busboy six months ago and I've haven't gotten the chance to do any cooking at all. Whenever, I've asked Goji to give me a chance…"
"I ain't so desperate for chefs that I'm gonna put in a busboy with zero kitchen experience. Just stick to washing dishes and leave cooking to the real chefs."
He shook his head, brushing those thoughts away. While he has taught himself to cook, he knew that he truly had no experience in an actual kitchen. But he just wants a chance to prove his worth. Well, not that it matters. All he hopes now is that…
'PING'
His eyes widened as he pulled his phone out and clicked on the email icon. Unfortunately, his expression turned sour when he read bolded letters.
'REJECTION OF REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL AID'
"Damn it!" He cursed in frustration. He sighed before going through his contacts and dialing on the name that said 'Takashi'.
"Hello. Ryota, is that you?"
"Hey Takashi. Sorry, is this a bad time?" Ryota asked.
"Nah, I'm on break. So, how did it go? You get an email from the university."
"I did." He then sighed. "Rejected."
"Figures. After all, you're a college dropout with no financial support from your parents."
"Thanks for reminding me." He said with a blank look. "At this point, my only option is to apply for a scholarship to get into culinary school."
"That seems to be your best bet. I know you've done fine on your own these last six months, but does a part of you regret dropping out of med school?"
Ryota frowned. "Not in the slightest. You know I wasn't happy with…"
"I know. I know" Takashi calmed him down. "Just…try your best and let me know if you need anything."
The bespectacled youth smiled. "Sure." He then noticed his car parked across from the station. He continued talking as he pulled his keys out of his bag. "By the way, anything interesting happening?"
"Now you know as a police officer I can't tell civilians about classified information."
"Not even your cousin."
"Especially family. But whatever happens, I'll either tell you about it or you'll see it on the news."
"I guess. Anyways, later-"
BAM
Ryota fell to the ground, along with his duffle bag and phone, just as a girl fell at the same time.
"OW! What the hell!"
He sat up to see that he bumped into a brown-haired high school girl, having dropped a similar duffle bag next to his.
"Ayumi are you okay?" Another female asked. Ryota then noticed four other teens with her; a blond-haired boy (Atsumu); a tall, black-haired boy (Daichi); the shortest boy (Taisei); and a girl with black hair (Yui).
Atsumu noticed Ryota and walked over to him. "You blind or something, asshole!?"
Ryota stood up and said, "I'm sorry. I was on the phone, and I didn't see where I was walking-"
"Then it's your own fault!" Ayumi snapped. "You're lucky I didn't cut myself! Didn't your parents teach you to watch where you're going!"
"It was an accident?" He said, trying to avoid conflict.
"Maybe we should teach this guy a lesson." Daichi said, threateningly.
Taisei snicked. "Gotta make sure mistakes like that don't happen again."
Ryota flinched as the three boys stepped forward with the intent to beat him up, but Ayumi stopped them. "That's enough. This four-eyed virgin ain't worth it. Besides…" She picked up the duffle bag she was carrying. "We got places to be."
Taichi smirked. "That's right. Dinner at Rando's."
Yui nodded. "Let's not forgot we can't stay here much longer."
Atsumu scoffed. "You got off easy today asshole." He said as the teens made their leave from the station.
Ryota sighed as he stood up to dust himself off before picking up his duffle bag and phone. "And I thought I was done with jerks like them in high school." He muttered before noticing some dirt on his clothes.
"Great, now I gotta wash up." He said, entering the station to use the public restroom.
As he walked around, he said to himself. "I'm running low on ingredients. I should probably by some more on my way home. How much do I…" He had reached for his pockets when he noticed nothing inside them. "Must have left my wallet in my work clothes again."
He had already reached for his duffle bag when he noticed what was inside was not his work clothes but…
"WHAT THE!"
…a hefty amount of yen.
"Where'd all this money come from!?" Ryota exclaimed, though quickly shuts his mouth when he saw two people giving him odd looks. He closed the bag shut before hiding behind some public lockers.
"What the hell happened? I know I had my bag with me when I left work. So how…" his eyes widened when he remembered that girl, Ayumi, was carrying a similar looking duffle bag like his.
(A/N: I know they did not take the whole bag. But for this story, let's just say they did.)
"It was that girl. We must have gotten our bags mixed up during the fall. Damn it! How am I gonna…"
'BANG'
Ryota snapped out of his thoughts when he heard a loud bang of glass breaking.
"What the hell was that!?" he wondered. However, after looking around the area, his eyes drifted to a horrific sight.
"Blood!"
Yes. A trail of blood that leads away from the lockers to the women's restroom.
"Where'd all this blood come from?" He leaned down and closely examined the blood. "It's still wet. So, it wasn't long ago that this blood appeared. And it leads to the women's restroom."
Ryota slowly followed the blood trail and entered the women's restroom…
…to see a half-naked, bespectacled, pregnant woman with tan skin and blonde hair. Lying next to her were several pieces of broken glass and an empty injection.
"OH MY GOD!" He screamed in horror, running over to the pregnant girl. "WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED!?"
He noticed a small bag next to the injector and upon examining the white powder, he knew exactly what it was.
"Heroin. And by the looks of this, she injected the whole bag into herself." He felt her pulse and saw that she was still breathing, barely.
"She's still alive. That's good." He then saw that her pregnant womb was covered with bumps and bruises. He pressed his ear gently to the womb and – to his relief – heard kicking inside.
"She'll be dead if I don't get her to a hospital. I gotta-" He stopped when he saw his phone cracked and not turning on, having been damaged from his fall.
"FUCK!" He throws his phone to the wall in rage, damaging it further. "And I left my license and wallet in my bag!"
As Ryota felt frustration building up, he turned to the pregnant woman and saw, to his shock, a smile on her face. It was as if she was at peace. Why? Was she happy to die? Is this what she wanted? He then remembered the baby kicking, most likely struggling for life. He looked at the pregnant woman once more, and then steeled his resolve. "I'm sorry…but you have to live. For your baby."
He had to work fast. He took of the woman's ripped up coat to cover the bleeding. Then he threw his own coat over her to cover her up. And, with all the strength he could muster, lifted the woman in a bridal fashion. The 20-year-old gnashed his teeth as he struggled to carry her out of the restroom, not noticing her glasses having fallen off and landing on the floor.
Ignoring the horrified expressions of other people as he ran out the station, he hurriedly rushed to the parking lot and ran to his car and opened it. He gently placed the pregnant woman in the passenger seat before entering himself, starting the car.
"The nearest hospital is ten minutes from here. Hopefully, the police will understand why I'm driving without a license." Ryota then drove off.
Inside the car, the pregnant woman began to stir as she slowly opened her eyes. Her vision was blurry, but she deduced that she was inside a car.
"Wh-where am I?" she mentally asked. "Am I…dead?"
She tilted her head to see the one driving the car was a 20-year-old man.
"W-Who are…you?" She said, her voice tired and raspy.
Ryota gasped as he saw the girl was conscious. "Good, you're awake. Don't worry, we're almost at the hospital."
She gasped when she heard that. This stranger was helping her. No one has offered her any form of kindness in a long time. However-
"N-No. Just…let me die." She muttered, tears dripping from her eyes. Ryota's hands gripped the steering wheel tighter at those words. "It's o-over. My baby is…dead. My b-baby, my future. I'm not…worth it…"
"Your baby is alive!" He shouted. The woman's eyes widened in shock. Did she hear that right? Her baby is not dead. "I felt your baby kick. It's still fighting for life and you have to do the same."
The girl looked to her pregnant belly and placed her hands over it. Sure enough, the moment she touched it, she felt something beating within her.
"I can feel it. Her heart is beating. She's still alive." She smiled as tears of joy leaked from her eyes. "Hana can still live. I'm…glad…"
He noticed her eyes closing and honked his horn, jolting her awake. "Try to stay awake. I see the hospital up ahead. They're gonna help you." He tried to think of a way to keep her awake. "My name is Ryota Suzuki. What's your name?"
"Saki…Yoshida." Saki said, feeling her consciousness slipping away. "P-Please…make sure…they save…save Hana."
Ryota saw, to his horror, Saki's head slump back. He checked her pulse again and saw that it was fading.
"Shit." He cursed as he arrived at the hospital. He did not bother parking the car as he stopped in front of the main entrance. Quickly, he took Saki out as he carried her inside.
"SOMEBODY HELP! THERE'S A PREGNANT WOMAN AND SHE NEEDS HELP NOW!"
The patrons jolted at Ryota's scream, but the doctors and nurses already there immediately acted and brought a stretcher over.
"Put her down gently." The doctor said as the nurse placed an oxygen mask over Saki.
"Heartbeat decline. Prepare the E.R immediately for emergency C-section." The doctors said as they rolled the stretcher to the emergency room.
Ryota tried to follow but a female nurse stopped him. "Sir, we need you stay back."
He nodded in understanding. "Right. She's going…they are going to be okay."
"We'll do everything we can." The nurse, named Mai, assured. "We'll show you to the waiting room, but first you need to move your vehicle."
Ryota noticed his car still parked in the front entrance. He nodded as he went to move his car, contemplating on the events that happened today.
"I've always heard the saying 'life works in mysterious way'. I don't know where my life was taking me, but it led me to meet Saki Yoshida. Was it a chance encounter? I'm not sure, but I know that I can't ignore a person suffering."
As he entered the hospital, he looked up to the evening stars, praying for both Saki and her baby Hana.
To be continued…
A/N: I hope you enjoy this prologue. Earlier this month, I was introduced to this hentai manga by my cousin and his friend. I was hooked…at least until the ending. Usually, most stories rarely affect me, but words cannot describe my own feelings towards the ending, especially when I was hoping that things would get better for Saki.
I have been searching the internet for alternate endings (my favorite being the JOJO one). Seeing everyone's own take on creating a better ending got my creative juices flowing. So I decided to take a chance and write my own continuation. It's not going to be a long story (I estimate five to six chapters), but it will cover Saki's recovery and blossoming relationship with Ryota (my OC). I also plan to include Hayato, those five students (whom I've named), and Saki's dad facing retribution for their actions.
This story is rated M due to crude language, references to drugs and sex, along with one lemon scene I will include. Either way, please leave a review and don't flame.
