Suddenly a week had flew by and all he had done was train.
He felt his muscles ache yet everything he was trained with he passed with ease. Flip over this house sized boulder? Easy. Squat with this tree log on your shoulder thirty times? He blew by it. He was amazed at the amount he could lift, things he could never do in his past world or life at this point. Olas wasn't exactly strict on training but it wondered Everett how he knew all these workouts and all these training sessions. Over the week he learned a lot about what he had gotten himself into.
Apparently Goron's are rock people. Can lift tons and are practically the muscle of the land. Rito are the skies of the land, no one can rival them in the clouds. Zora rule the waters, as they're many attacks are designed and planned on water and the Gerudo owned the desert. Those pig faces things he saw are supposedly called Bokoblins and Hyrule is in desperate need of help with this "calamity" thing and are searching the lands for warriors. Makes sense that royalty will be at this competition.
Olas had his hand on his chin looking at Everett, before sighing. "Well, I've had him do everything I can think of. I think he should run through the competition."
"Are you sure?" Boto asked.
"Positive. I've never known any Hylians that could flip over house sized boulders," Olas kept inspecting Everett. "Yes, quite strong indeed. May I ask how did you attain such strength?"
Everett stared back at the man who looked a couple years older than him. He needed to come up with a lie again and that's something he hated doing. "From the stories I used to hear in my family my father was a muscular man too. Probably genetics."
Well technically that wasn't a lie. His father was a gangster in his "old life" and he was very muscular from what his mother used to tell him.
Olas mouth twitched. "Well, maybe it is your spirit that posses your strength more than your muscles. Not once did you complain or falter during this week. I've had you squat tree logs, do hundreds of pushups and sit-ups, cardio and multiple workouts that would've put an average Hylian out yet not once did you quit."
Everett said nothing.
"How does your body feel?" Olas asked.
"Like a car hit me."
"A what?" Boto asked.
Everett's eyes snapped open before realizing he said car. He hadn't seen a single car or piece of technology here in the week had been here. He looked up before thinking of what to say next. He looked over to the stables seeing the horses. "I meant horses. Yes, definitely meant horses."
Olas and Boto eyed each other before they're eyes returned to Everett. "Ok..." Olas looked up at the sky with h no ips hand cover the sun. "Looks like it's about noon. We should head over to the coliseum to get you signed up."
"Olas I need to know," Everett said stopping Olas in his tracks, making the older man turn to face him. "Why are you doing this? How do you know that many workouts and training?"
Olas stared at him intently before looking towards the coliseum that just appeared over top of the hill "I used to be a solider at Hyrule Castle. I was regarded one of the best, but that had a downside."
Everett listened for him to continue. Olas did. "I had a bad drinking problem. I was there for five years. My last year I was to help train soldiers and royal guard. I usually would show up drunk or not show up at all, they let me go last year. They either told me I'd be stationed in Tabantha or never be a solider again. My father would've never accepted me as nothing else but a solider of the royal guard because that's what he built me up to be. I'm glad he isn't here to see how I turned out."
He could see the regret in his eyes when he turned to look at the ground. Olas looked up before opening his mouth again. "I'm just trying to do someone a solid. Plus, I'm in your corner and I'll be out there when you fight. So it'll be good to see those royal bokoblin droppings a last time when you win this Everett." Olas bumped his huge bicep.
"You two have been to these?" Everett asked.
"About five." Olas said.
"I've been to two!" Boto chimed in. Olas rolled his eyes.
"Any gore happen at these things?" Everett questioned.
Olas nodded. "Only if the Goron crushes you before you can stop it, it's never gone well for us Hylians. That's the most you have to worry about. Other than wrestling the last competitor, everything else is strength."
"Have Hylians won this?" Everett asked.
"Well, there's once was a sword fight tournament where that one kid absolutely dominated everyone." Boto answered. They were in sight of the coliseum and in front of it was a little line and a desk. In the line were multiple humanoid like people.
From muscular looking fish which he assumed were the Zora to small muscular looking Hylians. They weren't as big as the bodybuilders were in his past life but sure they looked strong. Multiple large rock figures which what he to be the Gorons were in the line along with some bird like people, which mean the Rito.
"Not as many participants as I thought. But still you need to look out for that Goron up in front." Olas pointed. The large Goron was the biggest of the participants in the line but was also the largest Goron in the line. There were couple Gorons in the line but none were big and muscular like this one, he had a tribal necklace on and he wore a mean face. "His name is Gonbick. He's won about six of these things, he's the obstacle to get by."
"Gonbick?" Everett tried sounding it. What a ridiculous name. "Why does everyone have weird names around here?" He muttered.
"Yeah," Boto interjected. "Proven strongest man in all of Hyrule. Strongest of the Gorons."
"So he must be the best fighter?" Everett asked.
"Not a chance. That goes to Lord Daruk." Olas answered.
"Lord Daruk?" All these questioned he needed to ask he wish he didn't. Because all it did was overload his brain with information as if he didn't have too much to process.
"Correct," Olas confirmed. "He's they're best warrior. Every race in the land has a distinct warrior that defines them all. Four if I remember correctly." He said. Silence had engulfed them for a couple minutes before Olas signaled them to follow him. Everett and Boto followed swiftly behind him when they got in like. There was only about three people ahead him and it had seem like no one else was signing up.
It wasn't long until they were at the desk, Olas had motioned his head towards his side for Everett to stand. The women had a quill with a cup of ink next to her, dabbing it she began to write information down in her notes. Everett couldn't make out what she had been writing but it wasn't long until her head snapped up. "Are you here to sign up?"
"Yes. My friend Everett here is competing." Olas said putting the spotlight on Everett.
"I assume you are going to be in his corner?" She only took her eyes off the paper.
"Yes. Me and the younger fellow behind him are with him." Olas answered. The lady took her attention off Olas and her eyes darted onto Everett. She readjusted a small sign that read out to have a price. 50 rupees to compete. Olas quickly reached into his back pocket pulling out a purple rupee quickly tossing towards the lady who caught it. She put it in a basket behind the desk before dabbing her quill in ink again.
"Age?" The lady quickly asked.
"Twenty." Everett quickly answered.
"Birthday?"
"August 22nd."
The women quickly wrote down before he could even get the words out of his mouth. She had quickly reached under the desk before pulling out a gold pin that had look like three triangles out together in one big triangle. She held it out towards Everett who took it. "This is your competition pin, you need to be here at nine in the morning. The games start at ten. When you get here, you need to turn this pin into the registration desk in the coliseum when you show up."
"Thank you ma'am." Olas smiled before walking away. Everett turned to follow him, Boto as well. "Welp. Let's head back to the stable. It's sunset, and your going to need as much rest as possible."
"Nine in the morning? That's outrageous!" Boto exclaimed.
"Technically we gotta get up two hours prior to that." Olas said as they began to walk back to the stable. The sun had set, giving Everett an orangish glow on his dark skin. He looked up to see the large castle in the distance across the large field. Olas noticed. "Beautiful right?"
Everett nodded. He's never seen a castle in person until now, and now that he was actually looking at one it was massive. If it was this massive miles away, he couldn't image what it looked like up and personal.
"Castle is friggin huge. I've gotten lost in there more than a couple times in my time as a solider." Olas said. "A lot of snobby upper class people that are there especially Castle Town. It's about fifty fifty with the people there."
"Ever meet the King?" Everett asked.
Olas nodded. "Well of course, he knighted me. I've met the Princess as well."
"The Princess is such a beautiful woman," Boto said with his eyes that were almost filled with love. "Anyone would try to get at that."
"For goddesses sake Boto," Olas sneered, giving his brother a disgusted look. "The Princess is ten years younger than me at the most, she is nothing but a mere child compared to me."
"I'm guessing the Princess is young?"
Olas raised his eyebrow. "You don't hear much around Hyrule huh? Pretty sure she turns seventeen in a couple months." Everett's eyes darted to Boto who held his hands up.
"Relax, I'm only eighteen!" Boto defended himself.
"What is this royal family like?" Everett turned his attention away from the teenager.
Olas was silent for a moment before he spoke again. "Well the King was intimidating, his voice could practically erupt Death Mountain when he raises his voice." Olas explained. "Princess Zelda? Blood of the Goddess? She's kind but..."
Everett and Boto urged him to continue. "But?"
"She seems to abhor people who accomplish their goals, because it's remind her of failure. Apparently word got around the castle fast that she was blessed with the goddess powers and that she couldn't unlock them. Can't imagine how hard her Father must be about it." Olas continued. "Apparently they seem hopeless against this calamity thing last time I was stationed there before I was let go."
"Well," Boto said. "What about the legendary sword that seals the darkness? I heard that only got pulled a few days ago?"
Olas looked at him before looking at the castle behind him. "We can only hope they got a plan. And that the Goddess is watching over us."
"Ready?" Olas said taking a sip of his canteen. They had awoke even before the sunrise could take it's place on the horizon. Of course, they had to lag behind because Boto was a slacker and refused to get up. "Word is there's going to be a packed out coliseum in a few hours. I know your nervous in a way."
Everett sighed. "I'm nervous I'm doing this for nothing."
Olas looking at him. "I can understand the feeling. We'll be in your corner, we'll look after you. After each round you'll come back to us and we'll go over the next round with you."
Everett smiled. "Alright."
Boto had finally joined them and they had began to walk to the coliseum. He had began to have his thoughts cloud his mind. He wondered what Aston had been doing in the other world. How he had been after he had seemingly died. He would've never imagined this what life had in store for him after death. Crazy part is, the only person that would believe him if he were to come back from the dead would be Aston.
He wondered how strong this Goron was and how strong was it. Was Olas setting him up for death? I mean granted he did say that he's never seen any Hylian roll over a house sized boulder but then again, he's only gotten to know Olas and Boto for a week.
They were alright, they didn't charge him to stay and he had offered to pay but they had refuse the money. They had him help around the stable in exchange, teaching him how to clean horses hoofs with he caught onto quickly. How to clean they're stable, and how to maintain the horse overall.
He seemed to have a natural talent for it because now he was confident he could saddle a horse now only after being taught for a couple hours.
Boto had taught him how to comb a horses mane. Boto also knew how to braid it in all types of ways but no way Everett was going to learn that in just a week. Everything else to him was easy, but just watching Boto effortlessly braid the hair yapping his mouth away was kinda impressive.
They had turned into the hill that led to the coliseum to see a couple participants with there representatives in front just standing around. The trio had joined the line and it moved rather quickly into the coliseum. They were instructed that they can sit around until it was time for them to be in they're waiting rooms and when people started to file in.
Olas, Boto and Everett didn't waste no time going into a small corner. Everett's heart at this point was pounding through his damn chest. Olas shot him a look. "How ya doing kid?"
"Fine," Everett lied. "Just a little anxious."
"I'd be worried if you weren't. It's alright to be a little nervous. Look at that muscular Rito over there," Olas signaled to. The Rito was with his representative almost panicking like. He couldn't form out the words but he looked panicked.
"I though this was a strength contest? What are you signing me up for?" Everett eyed Olas.
Olas almost looked offended. "It is. The only fighting you do is against the last competitor and against a Goron if your lucky to even make it past the strength competition." He fired back. "But I just talked to the lady at the desk and they said that this will be the most attended event in a good decade. People will be crowding the coliseum all around it, races from all around the region are coming to watch. You said you wanted to make a name for yourself, this is your chance. Don't pussy out."
Everett narrowed his eyes at Olas who didn't back down. Boto didn't seem to want to get in the middle of the two men whose tensions rose high. "Don't call me a pussy." Everett said with his fists clenched and voice dropped deadly.
"I won't have to if you don't make me," Olas said with his voice calmer now. He caught on to Everett's clenched fist and thigh muscle in his jaw. "I don't want to fight with or you man...we've just come too far to start bickering at each other. We can do that later, right now let's focus on the task at hand."
People began to file into the coliseum and not long before it had began to fill and began to become loud. People spoke in all types of voices some in different languages, some lingo that Everett didn't understand as well.
It hadn't take long before the entire place was packed out to the max. Everett could feel the structure shake as the people from the crowd erupted. There was suddenly a change in noise when a bunch of guards in fancy armor suddenly appeared at the entrance of the coliseum.
"Must be them," Olas said. A couple moments went by before he saw a round man with a long beard that almost reached his chest. He wore a nice fancy crown that only Everett could dream to afford. This must be the king. He walked intimidatingly towards the stairs leading up to the second eco where a special box was waiting for them. "Look, it's the Princess." Olas muttered.
Everett turned his when long blonde hair caught his attention. She walked elegantly with a long slender women at her side, but Everett couldn't exactly see her. Princess Zelda blue gown dragged behind as she herself descended up the steps to sit next to her father. It didn't take him long to realize that women escorting her was that "Impa" lady. He took a step back, Olas must've been really good at reading a room because he picked up on this movement.
"What is it?" He asked loud enough for Everett to hear.
Everett looked at him. "I know that lady next to the Princess. Saw her last week before I ran into Boto."
"She's the Shiekah advisor. She most likely won't remember you, she sees a lot of people a day." Olas said. A chubby man came into view scurrying into the center of the stadium. The talk of the attendance had quickly died down.
The man cleared his voice for the remaining people to quiet down. He waited a couple minutes before speaking. "Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to the annual Hyrule strength contest!"
The crowd had erupted into a roar. Louder than Everett's ever heard. Way louder than the High School games that Everett used to attend. The crowd died down before the man continued. "Fifteen participants will compete but only one makes it to the end!"
The crowd erupted again. "Participants! Come forward!" The man shouted. Everett took a look at Olas who nodded confidently. Boto did the same. Everett tightened his brow before stepping out of the dark corner to be even with each competitor. He tried to keep his face down so that the "Shiekah" lady wouldn't notice him but surely she did.
It must've caught her attention quickly because she recognized him instantly, as she whispered something to the Princess and now it was both of them peering towards him. He kept his best to not directly notice the two ladies stare on him, but he didn't let his hard face drop.
"Let the contest...begin!" A log was brought out by multiple soldiers, but not just any log. This was log was about two times the size of the one he carried over that field for he stable, setting it down with a thud the soldiers quickly skipped off. "You will lift this log five times, without touching the ground. If it touches the ground or if you are unable to get it up, you will be disqualified. First competitor is Everett!"
Everett jumped up as the announcer said his name and suddenly all eyes were on him. Of course with his luck, he's the first one to participate. He heard footsteps behind him and a shoulder tap. He turned around to Olas with a bottle of white stuff in it.
"Put your hands out." He said quickly and Everett obliged. Olas began to shake out power from the bottle before snapping it back closed. "Powder helps when you lift stuff, so you won't lose grip or mess your hands up, all up to you kid go get em." He quickly jogged back to Boto before turning around and nodding.
Everett decided it would be best if he made his way to the enormous tree log. Two metal bars had been imbedded into it as to act as some type of handle. He breathed heavily before manifesting all the strength he could muster in his body. He squatted down before roughly gripping, he tugged. Realizing this could be done, he lifted with his back like Olas told him to.
He felt the strain in his body, and he didn't realize that he was holding up the actual log. He let it hang to the ground before pulling his body back up for a deadlift.
"One!" The crowd exclaimed.
He did it again. "Two!"
"Three!"
"Four!"
"Five!"
He growled angrily before dropping the log with a thud. Olas and Boto jogged over to him slapping him on the arm playfully. The announcer threw his arms up. "Everett advances!"
The next few rounds went by with a breeze. Some participants were quickly eliminated by it was mostly the humans. It wasn't long until he was the only human in the competition. Not long and there was only five participants. It had been on a little ten minute break when he was in his corner with Olas and Boto.
"How ya feeling?" Boto asked.
Everett cracked his neck. "Sore, like I've been doing nothing but picking up heavy shit."
Olas chuckled. "Don't worry, it's only just getting started." He signaled to more than a couple soldiers helping carry two solid blocks the size of him with a bar in the middle. They dropped it with a hard thud, before quickly moving out of the center. "The first few round were to weed out the weaklings, these rounds are the true test of strength."
He saw the Goron, Gonbick clap his hands together before ducking underneath the bar, he placed it on his rock hard shoulders before he began to push off the ground. He struggled for a moment, but the roar in his voice ultimately pushed him to lift it. The crowd or maybe half of them were Gorons erupted in cheers as he fought the urge to fall over with the weight on his shoulders. Luckily soldiers were there to help him set it down. Once Gonbick had stood up to full height and shot Everett a glare, an intimidating one. But Everett didn't back down.
"Everett, your next!" The announcer said. The stadium had gone quietly again before Olas had did the usual, slapping and covering his hands in powder before leaving a hand mark on his bicep where he supportively slapped him. Everett walked towards the heavy looking weight. He stared for an odd moment before hearing a movement to his left. It was the announcer. "If you don't think you can do it, you can just give up y'know?"
Everett shot him a death glare which got him to back up from him with his hands up. He stood in front of the enormous weight. For a second, he wondered if anyone back on Earth could pick something up this huge. He shook his head before looking at his hands and clapping them together making the powder puff in smoke. He gripped the metal bar before ducking under it, resting it down on his shoulders. He used every force he could find again and began to dig his legs into the ground. He felt the weight beginning to leave the ground but not quite. He begin to strain and felt himself unable to hold the battle cry that would erupt from him.
He let it out, and he felt himself standing more straight with what seemed like the weight of the world on his shoulders. He had lifted it and before he did he heard the cheers and whistles from mostly humans. He bent over to drop the weight but not before letting another roar out. Olas and Boto with excitement on they're faces jump around him and shoving him playfully. He could feel the King's gaze on him as he jumped and celebrated with the only two friends he's made so far. They're excitement died down when the crowd had died.
"That's what I'm talking about kid, after this round you and Gonbick should be the only two competitors!" Olas handed him the canteen full of water. He had taken his time to drink watching a Rito competitor struggle to lift the weight. He had barely picked it up from the ground before realizing it wasn't going farther. He had dropped it before shaking his head, the announcer yelling that he was eliminated. Walking back to his corner, two Rito individuals talked to him and comforted him. He turned to Olas who had caught his attention. "After this round it should just be you and Gonbick."
Olas was proven right when the remainder of the last few participants were eliminated and the gigantic weight was heaved on out of the stadium. He could feel the stares from races and royalty in the crowd as Olas had been talking to him. He tuned out most of it because it was just him yapping off, until he felt someone pluck his pointed ear. Shit! He grabbed it quickly, they were more sensitive than his old ears. He quickly turned around with an angered expression but out of the corner of his eye he saw the King staring at him intently, he deemed it good that he kept his cool.
"What was that for?" Everett hissed.
"Did you get any of that?" Olas asked crossing his arms. Everett looked at the ground before hearing a huff from the older man. "It's you versus Gonbick. The best way to take a Goron down is by its waist. I'm confident you can toss a Goron around. Don't slip up, because those Gorons are strong."
The announcer had walked into the middle of the coliseum. The crowd's mutters and talks had quieted down. The announcer began. "And now, for the last two competitors step forward!"
Olas patted him on the back and urged him to go on. Everett could feel the entire stadium eyes on him as he made his way to the center of the coliseum. Gonbick had followed from the opposite direction of the coliseum and eventually was now side to side facing the crowd. They were facing the royal booth that had been built specifically for royalty.
"We are witnessing history before our very own eyes!" The announcer said excitedly, his stare from the crowd turned to Everett. "We have never had a Hylian in the history of the competition make it this far! Congratulations Everett...and good luck. Your going to need it..."
Everett was about two seconds away from slapping this chubby asshole. He quickly jogged towards Boto and Olas. "I'm guessing they're betting against me?"
Olas look confused before catching on. "Of course, shit dude I'm betting on you." Everett's eyes widened.
"How much?"
"Fifty rupees." Olas answered.
"Only fifty?" Everett felt himself become somewhat offended but out of playfulness.
"Yeah, now don't get crushed by that rock." Olas chuckled before huddling back out of the way of the middle of the stadium. Gonbick had been standing only about twenty feet in front of him with his fists clenched and ready to fight.
"And now! The reigning champion Gonbick, goes against the underdog Everett! Let the match begin!" He saw Gonbick punch his fists together before running full speed ahead. Everett didn't back down, judging by his strength he should be strong enough to resist this guy. Everett took off only he was he speeding up the process by being faster than Gonbick. The Goron running towards him let out a roar and so did Everett.
The two crashed. He felt like a truck hit him when Gonbick easily tossed him aside and sent him tumbling with ease eventually hitting the wall. He got up faster than anticipated before quickly scrambling in the Gorons face back in the middle of the ring. "Puny hylian, do you honestly think you have a chance."
With ease, Everett ripped his shirt off showing his muscular body. He heard a lot of shock and awe from the crowd. He tossed his shirt aside and stood in a readied stance. Gonbick grolwed before running full speed again, he held out his hands to squish Everett. He went to clap his hands with such force, but Everett had stopped it putting both hands out. Everett used some of his strength to throw the Goron's arms down, now distracted Everett made sure to follow Olas steps.
He quickly grabbed each side of Gonbick before heaving himself up, and violently slamming the Goron back onto the ground. He stood over the Goron who had been knocked senseless from the slam, he could hear the roar from the crowd when his ears allowed it from the blind rage he had. It wasn't long until Gonbick gained his senses back and throw a quick punch right in Everett's face.
He felt face almost go back into his skull with how hard Gonbick's fist was. He stumbled before feeling himself get picked up and rammed into the stone wall, now he was trying his best to overpower the Goron which he wasn't lacking in behind. He quickly tried to find a solution to get Gonbick off of him. His eyes landed on Gonbick's long goatee which had been put into a little ponytail.
Everett wasn't exactly sure he had the strength to grab his goatee and use it to roll him over, but he was getting manhandled in front of hundreds. His arm shot out lightning fast roughly grabbing the Goron's beard, he heard the man yelp but not before Everett used every piece of strength he could muster.
He did a roll, slamming the Goron into the wall next to the position they were previously at. Everett was done with all this wrestling shit, he quickly threw a powerful punch into Gonbick's face.
His face was surprisingly soft compared to his rock body, he could see a bruise start to form on his face. He heard a dangerous growl, and felt two arms pick him up, he got thrown a couple feet landing on his side and rolling a couple inches.
He quickly got up despite the pain to see Gonbick charging at him full speed ahead. Everett squared his feet and prepared to stop the what could be compared to a train. He saw Gonbick charge his gigantic arm back before throwing a punch, he dodged before Everett threw one of his own. The two stood in the middle of the coliseum trading blows. It seemed the more Everett got hit the harder he'd hit back. It was thrilling in a sense, to have such power after suffering for so long. He wasn't weak like he was in his older life, he didn't have to rely on his words more than his punches and he wasn't physically smaller than everyone. Gonbick had caught his hand, and went to throw a punch of his own before Everett stopped it with much smaller hand. Had it been a regular human, they're arm would've exploded from impact, Gonbick used his strength to try and pushing Everett to the ground. The Hylian had pushed his leg back and found a new gauge of strength. The two men pushed against each other hard, so hard that they're feet began to dig in the ground, Everett began to get the upper hand as he began to push Gonbick down to a defensive stand and began to feel the Goron's arms shake. The crowd had been bamboozled watching the Hylian overpower the Goron. Then Everett felt something bash into his face, he didn't have time to react when Gonbick had grabbed him, sweeping him off his feet. He felt himself he heaved by with the Goron's gigantic hands wrapped around his throat.
"I'm surprised you've made it this far, no one has ever given me actual competition in this contest." Gonbick gloated making his grip on his neck harder. Everett could feel himself losing his vision as clouds of black began to cover his vision. He felt his body began to weaken as the grip he had on Gonbick's arm, he felt his vision go black...
He couldn't tell how many seconds had passed when he was out but he suddenly awoke with a jolt of energy he didn't have before. He looked at Gonbick whose expression had went from smirking victoriously to scared shitless. His vision had been yellow for some reason, and he couldn't control himself from the rage that had taken over his body.
Everett easily ripped himself from Gonbick's grip, the Goron had began to back up when he had seen the regular human charge at him with inhumane speed. Everett had wrapped his arms around Gonbick's waist before ramming into a stone wall. He violently grabbed the Goron's shoulders repeatedly slamming him into the stone wall. He finally threw Gonbick by the shoulders a couple feet in front of him.
The Goron had quickly scrambled to his feet before facing the angry muscular human in front of him, his eyes looked terrified as he began to back up from Everett and for some quite reason he couldn't figure out why Gonbick's terrified eyes wouldn't leave his own, the yellow that clouded his sight didn't leave. The Goron began to back up before his steps became quicker. Everett had noticed this and became angered very quickly. How dare this motherfucker gloat in my face and then act like a bitch!?
"Don't you dare run from me." He angrily gritted. He quickly charged at the Goron before tackling him. The two fighters roll around, punching and pulling at each other. Everett eventually got the upper hand, he began to throw punch after punch into Gonbick's face. The Goron had failed to block most of the shots because of how quick and hard they were.
Everett tangled his fingers and hands together before pulling them back behind his head. He gave out a angry scream before letting his two fists come down on Gonbick's face. The impact had caused the Goron to go limp instantly. He sat there for a couple moments. He felt his vision go back to normal before looking at his hands. He throw his leg over the Goron to get off of him, what the hell was that?
He didn't have control over himself and his vision had went to yellow. That never happened in his old life. He looked towards the crowd, and surprisingly they had started to cheer. He looked at the Goron who had been knocked out cold, it calmed Everett's mind that he was still breathing. He turned towards Olas and Boto who were jumping in the corner excitedly.
They charged at him quickly, hopping around before they practically flung themseleves onto him. "Everett you crazy son of a bitch!" Olas exclaimed. Everett couldn't help but feel the adrenaline and began to celebrate with them. He quickly pushed Olas playfully making him laugh and pulling Boto into a quick hug. He glanced over to the booth where royalty say, and he had seen all eyes on him. From the Princess to the Sheikah Advisor to the King and whatever high ups that had been in the booth with them. Olas's voice caught his attention again. "You did it!"
The announcer who had looked shell shocked immediately snapped out of his trance, chuckling soft eh made his way over to the three men hopping around and celebrating. "A-and the winner is Everett!" The announcer quickly retreated after that, before disappearing completely out of sight. Olas had retrieved a bucket of cold water before handing it to the strongest of the group. Taking it with gratitude, he took a sec to look at himself in the reflection of water before drinking it. He had a cut on his lip that didn't look that bad, it had been visible but it had only stung a bit. He had a bruise on his cheek from where Gonbick had punched him, it had been purple already from how hard he had been hit. He had multiple scratches around his body that had been red, and multiple dirt sports. Overall he was a mess and needed a bath. Everett didn't have enough time to say anything before Olas had hardened his gaze behind him. Eyebrow raised, he turned around to see who could sour Olas's mood like that to see Gonbick and his crew head towards them.
"For an Hylian, I didn't think you'd be much," The Goron spoke in a much softer voice then earlier. His confident hardened look faded from his face. "But I greatly underestimated you. You were the better competitor at the end of the day, and I think you should have this."
The Goron held out a freshly made gold medal. It had a green ribbon that held it with the words engraved in the metal "Hyrule's Strongest Man" with a figure that was posing. Everett grabbed the medal before it dropped into his hands completely. He couldn't remember what he accomplished in his old life that rivaled this one. He didn't have many opportunities in his hometown where crime was high and they couldn't exactly afford and make it to places where he wanted to chase goals and dreams.
He looked up to the Goron before shaking his hand. The Goron gave him a confident smile before nodding his head and walking out of sight and out of the coliseum.
"Well, I think a celebration is in order," Olas said, he pulled a flask taking a swing of it. He sealed the top after a grimace of tasting the liquor that was stored in the flask. "We should head back to the stable-"
"Olas they're making their way over here," Boto quickly interrupted with a voice that held nervousness. Olas raised an eyebrow. "Oh man, what are we suppose to do?"
"The hell are you-" Olas turned to see the King with a bunch of guards around him make his way over to the trio. In a instant he heard a grunt from Olas and before he knew it the two were on the ground kneeling and the King was now in front of him, swearing that Olas muttered "jackass" under his breath.
The King had been taller than Everett by a couple inches and the two had eyed each other for quite a bit before Everett gave a slight awkward bow unbeknownst to himself that this could be considered a crime. It felt like forever as the King had scanned over his dirty body. He finally spoke.
"That was fervent display of strength," The King's voice boomed. The bass in his voice sent a chill down Everett's spine making him straighten up a bit. "It's not everyday you see a mere human overpower a goron. I was quite impressed with your performance Sir..."
Everett had taken a couple seconds before he was realizing that the King was asking for his name. "I-oh, Everett sir. My name is Everett."
The King had chuckled. "Everett? Well that's ironic given that it means brave and strong, you undoubtedly showed both in today's competition. I must say I envy your strength, I wasn't such a slouch myself in my younger days, but I wasn't anywhere near you."
"I appreciate the acknowledgment sir." Everett slightly bowed again. The King too his time choosing his words before speaking.
"Sir Everett may I ask where you hail from?"
"I'm homeless sir," Everett froze up. He hadn't really thought about where he could call home. He frantically racked his brain and quickly thought of a place he knew here. "But if I had to call a place home it would Outskirt Stable."
The King's eyebrow raised. "No specific town?"
"No sir, I unfortunately was homeless before my stay at Outskirt Stable."
"No family? Friends?"
Everett nodded slowly before signaling to the two men who still kneeled on the ground with they're head down. The King raised his eyebrows higher before doing a quick scan over before letting a chuckle go. "You are indeed a unique one Sir Everett, quite fascinating you are. I'm sure we will cross paths again."
With that, the King turned back towards royal guards, Impa and the Princess before they were set to depart back to the castle. Everett let a sigh out.
"You're an idiot." Olas muttered making Everett smirk.
Maybe things wouldn't be so bad here.
