Open Your Eyes

First-person POV, a short poem that I wrote at 1am about the cycles of the day, and seeing the stars for the first time. There are no books or characters mentioned, so you can adapt it to fit any series. Rated K , I hope you like it!

I opened my eyes to colours,

To pink and palest blue,

To orange and gold, and red so bold,

This was the first thing I knew.

I opened my eyes to sunrise,

The dawn of a new day,

Flying high, clouds in the sky,

But none with a hint of grey.

I opened my eyes to sunlight,

To warmth and light and peace,

Serenity, so happy and free,

This is what I see.

I opened my eyes to sunset,

To purples and orange an pink,

To grey, fading light, and across the sky,

Darkness spilling like ink.

I opened my eyes to nothing,

To black and empty sky,

A spark of light, set alight,

Another star to die.

I opened my eyes to moonlight,

To stars and nebulae,

Colours soar and evermore,

This is what I see.

I closed my eyes to peace,

Sleep I now embrace,

I'm not alone, I am home…

Lost in outer space.
