Worth Every Moment
Ais sat in the office of the Loki Manor.
"I'm sure it's him this time," She insisted to the Goddess across from her.
Loki gave an exhausted sigh. "It's been 700 years, sweetie." Loki said, forsaking her fake accent. It wasn't worth it for this conversation. "Don't you think it's time you moved on?"
Ais had heard this same lecture for a few hundred years and had ignored the goddess every time. She was unsure why Loki even tried anymore, but Ais did what she always did and shook her head stubbornly. "I told Bell when he passed that I'd wait here for him until he came back to me. That's what I will do.:
"Even if he reincarnates and comes back here, which is extremely unlikely, he won't remember you, and the odds you find him are slim to none. How many men have you dragged up here thinking they were Bell? You're getting as bad as Freya was."
Ais clinched her teeth, tired of hearing this lecture."I am nothing like her, and this time, I am sure it's him." She said with conviction.
"Well, since you won't stop bugging me until I check his soul, then go get him."
A few minutes later, some dark-haired young man with green eyes was led in by some lower level member of the Loki familia.
"Goddess." He gave a short bow to Loki
"Holy Wind Spirit." He gave the same bow to Ais.
"How might I be of service to you?" The man asked politely
"My Holy Wind Spirit," Loki said dripping with sarcasm. "She thinks you may be her ancient hero reincarnated and would like me to look at your soul if you would allow me to check it."
The man nodded his consent. "Sit here and lift your shirt."
The man did it, but they noticed a slight flush on his face. He was shy just like her Bell. She knew this was him. She had spent more time watching this one than any of the others, and she felt some familiar connection the first time she'd seen him like he was speaking to her soul. This had to be him! She noticed Loki stare longer than usual and held her breathe in anticipation. Then Loki spoke, "It's...actually him." She whispered in shock.
Ais felt tears begin to roll down her face. They blurred her vision. She was just so happy. She barely even saw the man kneel before her. "I would be honored to..." She cut the man off by pulling the man into her chest and resting her head on top of his, still crying euphoric tears of joy.
"I know you don't remember but, I have loved you for a thousand years." She whispered to him. "And no matter how you feel about me, I will love you for a thousand more."
They stayed like that a while before the man spoke up, and Ais released him."I can't explain it, and please don't think me a pervert but, I feel an unexplainable urge to rest my head on your lap." Ais smiled and patted her lap.
She had found her bunny again. She had found her love. It was worth every moment of waiting.
