Chapter 1: Happy Birthday
Ryan woke to the sound of an explosion. He sat bolt upright so fast he hit his head against the bunk above him. In a slight daze, he looked around and saw an alarm clock on his bedside table...atleast he thought it was an alarm clock. It looked like one in the centre anyway. It was a classic digital alarm clock face in the centre but it had a large speaker on the top and legs that kept pushing in and out of the device making it jump up and down repeatedly. It was safe to say he was confused.
Suddenly, a boys face appeared in the door way.
"What in the name of GOD is that?" He asked, sounding almost frightened. Alex's blonde hair fell down to his eyes. His deep blue eyes studied the jumping alarm clock like it was a bomb.
"I dunno. It wasn't here last night!" Ryan replied.
"So why is it-". The alarm answered his question before he could finish asking it. The explosion noises stopped and the message "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, STUPID!" flashed across the display and the well known, correlated tune started blasting out of the speaker. Both of the boys were silent for the whole of the song.
"I'm going to kill her." Ryan said in a matter-of-factly voice.
"Oh calm down," a large grin spread itself across Alex's face. "Katie's just saying happy birthday. You're lucky to have a
sister like that."
Yeah, he thought, lucky is the word to describe his situation.
"Sure I am, but I'm still gonna kill her."
Ryan crawled out of bed, knowing he wouldn't sleep now. He stumbled into his dorms bathroom and looked in the mirror. A honey beige skinned boy with dark brown hair with a single streak of red at the front and brown eyes stared back at him. His hair was a mess as usual so he tried to give it a slight style. He only managed to straighten the centre and puff up the red at the front, other than that it was still a mess. He made his way to his dorms kitchen and started cooking bacon in the pan.
"Not today, Grieves." Alex announced as he pushed Ryan out of the way of the hobs.
"Alex, it's Sunday, meaning it's my day to cook."
"I do not care. It is your birthday and you
are not going to complain about anything we do."
"We?" Ryan asked cautiously.
"Yeah," Alex replied happily. "Me and your sister have a fun day planned for your birthday."
"You two are going to kill me today, I swear."
As Alex cooked the breakfast, Ryan laid across the couch and watched the TV. A knock sounded against the front door. Alex and Ryan stared at eachother. Suddenly, Alex mouthed ah and walked to the door.
A girl of about 15 with black hair and sea-green eyes stood behind the door with her hands on her hips.
"Suprise!" Katie threw up her hands and walked in.
"Thanks for the...present, Kate. How the hell did you get it in there?" Ryan questioned.
"Dearest brother, I would never tell you my
secrets. Also you are very welcome. Also, morning Alex"
"Morning Katie. You ready for today's activities?"
"No." Ryan said at the same time that Katie said "Absolutely."
"Then let's go." Alex started to walk out the door.
Ryan, thinking logically, piped up with "Umm...breakfast?"
"Oh yeah," Alex looked embarrassed "Katie wanna join us for breakfast?"
"Nah, I've already eaten. I'll meet you two at Destination 1." Katie turned on her heel and marched out.
The boys looked at eachother and started laughing. They sat down together and ate their bacon and eggs while talking about moments of the past 2 years in which they had known eachother.
