Prologue:
An dich, 2000 Jahre ab heute (Teil 1)
Shiganshina, Wall Maria – Year 845
It was a terrifying sight to behold. Everyone in town was looking up at the walls. The tall, massive walls that had protected them for nearly a century.
It was that day that humanity was reminded...
Yet, the massive skinless hand on the wall on top of it seemed to threaten that peace they've enjoyed for so long.
…of the terror of being at their mercy...
Everyone looked in shock as a massive skinless head with muscles, with steam rising from it, rose above the wall, staring down at them.
...and the humiliation of being caged like cattle.
Hours earlier
In a forest, during stormy weather, a group of people on horses were riding through it.
These groups of people wore uniforms made of a short brown jacket over a light-coloured shirt. On the jacket was a badge of a pair of wings overlapping, on the back, left breast pocket, and shoulders. They also wore a dark brown sash around the waist and white pants with high-knee boots. A green hooded cloak also covered them, with the same badge on the back.
"Everyone, get ready to fight!" A man shouts as they continue riding. "There's only one target! We'll exterminate it and make it humanity's first outside base!"
The group had a set of special equipment on them. Two metal boxes hung by the sides of their waist, a small barrel at the back of the hips and a long, thin barrel hung on their back.
"Targets approaching!" Another man in the group shouts.
In the distance, they could make out a couple of figures walking, some having what appeared to be a glowing spot in their chest. What was really eye-catching, though, was the enormous figure that was among them. It resembles a large, nude human. Every step it took rumbled the ground.
"Split into 5 groups! Just as we practiced!" The leading man shouts. The group spilt from 1 to 5, each moving their own way.
"Decoy squads, distract the Kabane!" The man shouts again. Three groups began running past the figures, who now ran after them. Some took out the long barrel attached to their back. "All assault squads, switch to Omni-Directional Maneuver Gear! Strike from all sides at once!"
The two remaining groups took out two handgrips from their jacket. These were connected to the equipment they wore. They pressed a switch on the handgrips. From their hips, a hook shoots out and attaches itself into a tree securely.
The equipment propels the users into the air as a burst of steam pushes outward from the small box on the back of the hips. Once in the air, they detach their hooks from the previous tree and onto new ones, swinging themselves forward as the burst of steam pushes them.
In the air, they display an array of skills and acrobatics as they swung from tree to tree at high speeds, moving towards the enormous human-like entity.
"We'll close in on it from all sides!" The man shouts as they drew closer.
The man throws his handgrips into the boxes on his side and pulls them out, blades now attached to them.
The man then flew behind his target, swinging his blades down on it, roaring as he did.
"Behold the strength of Humanity!"
A field of flowers.
Blood splattering all over the flowers.
An open field with a lone windmill.
A field of corpses.
A face was shown, a large creepy, unnatural smile on its face.
A large mouth opening.
The windmill from before, now surrounded by gigantic figures.
More dead, rotting bodies.
Someone being picked up from rubble.
Inside Wall Maria – Year 845
A young boy with brown hair and green eyes awakens from his nightmare in a gasp.
He was laying down on the grass, near a tree, using its shade. He wasn't alone as a young Oriental girl with black hair stood by him. She also wore a red scarf.
The boy breathes in and out to calm himself before looking at the girl, who was sitting nearby. "Huh? Mikasa?"
"Lets start heading back." She said bluntly.
"Why are we here?" The boy asked, looking at his surroundings.
"You don't remember?" Mikasa asked as she stood up. "Were you that deep in your sleep?"
"No, it's just... I felt like I had one really long dream." The boy said, rubbing the sleepiness out of his eyes. "What was I dreaming about? I can't remember."
Mikasa picks up a tumpline filled with firewood before turning to the boy. Her eyes express surprise at what she saw. "Eren, why are you crying?"
Eren touches his face, confused. "Huh?" He notices the wetness of the tears rushing down his face.
Shiganshina District – Year 845
Shiganshina was like any other district of the walls. It was located south of Wall Maria, with 50 meter tall walls surrounding it. On top of the wall, there were multiple artillery cannons with rail tracks, allowing them to be maneuvered easily.
On the ground, people were going on with their daily lives. The atmosphere was peaceful. It could be a surprise, given what laid beyond the walls, to the people, as long as the walls stood, there was no danger.
"Hear! God's wisdom has created the walls!" A man in black clothing shouted out, waving his bible. "The walls are the work of God! Not one soul shall desecrate the walls!
Eren and Mikasa were walking through the inner gate, carrying their tumplines. The inner gate led to the inner district of Wall Maria. It was where they got their firewood, in the forest nearby.
"Don't tell anyone that I was crying." Eren said.
"I won't, but shouldn't you have that check by Mr. Jaeger, if you don't know what's causing it?" Mikasa says.
"Are you kidding? I can't tell dad about this!"
"What are you crying about, Eren?" Another voice makes itself known. In front of the two kids sat a group of men by the gate. One of them was a tall man with short, blonde hair and golden hazel eyes. He also wore a soldier's uniform, though instead of wings, the badge held a pair of red roses.
"Hannes!" Eren greeted.
"Did you get scolded by Mikasa?" Hannes asked, his face a little flushed and his words slurring a bit.
"What? Why would I be crying?" Eren says, before wrinkling his nose in disgust. "You reek like alcohol!"
Laughter was heard coming from behind Hannes. Back at the group of men, three soldiers sat playing cards and drinking. "Nothing wrong with that."
"You're drinking again?" Eren asked, deadpan.
"Yep. Wanna join us?"
"Aren't you on duty?" Eren asked.
"Yeah. We're just guarding this gate today." He puffs out his chest, as if proud. "We've been here all day. Started getting hungry and thirsty. But it isn't too bad if we drank something with a bit of alcohol."
Eren grits his teeth. "But if you're drunk, how are you going to fight?"
Hannes blinks. "Huh? When would we have to fight?"
"Isn't it obvious? When the Titans and the Kabane break through the walls and come in!"
Hannes winced. "Eren, don't shout those types of things out loud."
One soldier stood up and walked towards them. "So you are Dr. Jaeger's son? You got spirit, kid." He rested his elbow on Hannes' shoulder. "If they do manage to break in, we'll do our job. But you know what? Not a single titan has gotten past these walls in the past 100 years."
"Still, my dad says that it's moments like these where we're in real danger." Eren said.
"Dr. Jaeger said that, huh?" Hannes rubbed his head, thinking back. "Well, he's right. He saved our town from a pandemic before. We can't thank him enough."
"However, they're another story. I see Titans and Kabane roaming the walls all the time when I mend the walls. But speaking as a soldier, I can't see them doing anything against this 50-meter wall." Hannes continues.
"So you're telling me that you won't even have the will to fight them?"
"Yup."
"What!?" Eren says, indignation in his eyes. "Then drop the 'Garrison Regiment' and call yourselves the 'Wall Construction Squad' instead!"
Hannes chuckles at the insult. "Well, that actually doesn't sound too bad." He looks at Eren in the eyes. "But you gotta understand, Eren, that it's better for people to call us freeloaders and slackers. That means times of peace. If we, soldiers actually did our jobs, then things have really gone to hell."
Eren clenches his fist. "Yeah, we may stay in these walls, living peacefully, for our entire lives, but... that makes us no better than cattle!"
His words stun Hannes, who had no response.
Laughter from his fellow soldiers knocks him out of his stupor. "This kid sure knows how to talk." One soldier said. "Not like he can do anything by himself, right, Hannes?"
"Huh? Uh... right." Hannes said, a nervous smile on his face. Eren kept his head down and walked away, Mikasa following closely after him. "Hey Eren." He calls him out, but Eren ignores him.
"Crazy kid." The soldier says before returning to his game.
"Dont' tell me?" Hannes mutters as he watches the children walk away. "He's planning on joining the Survey Corps?"
Eren and Mikasa walked in silence before Mikasa spoke. "Eren, you should give up joining the Survey Corps."
He turns to her in surprise. "What, you think they're stupid, too?"
"It doesn't matter what I think of them-" Mikasa says before they heard a loud whistle. Hearing this, Eren's eyes lit up. "That's the signal. The Survey Corps is back! Come on, Mikasa. It's the return of the heroes!" Eren runs to where the signal was.
Shiganshina Station – Year 845
Near the gate, a large armoured train pulled up in a nearby train station. The Garrison soldiers went out and checked the train and the occupants, making sure that none got infected, with some Garrison soldiers standing on higher platforms, watching over the train with Steam Guns in hand. Blood stains covered the front of the train.
Eren and Mikasa made it on station where a large crowd stood outside the station, waiting.
Out of the station, once deemed safe enough to leave, Survey Corps members came marching out with grim expressions on their faces. Bloodstains covered their uniforms.
"Damn it, I can't see properly." Eren said from behind the crowd, trying to look past them. The crowd watched the Survey Corps march past them, unimpressed expressions on their faces as they watched the soldiers.
Eren found a large box and stood on top of it, granting him view. He stares with excitement in his eyes. One Survey Corps soldier with blonde hair noticed the boy and his excitement. However, he looks away in shame.
Eren's expression dropped with that act, confused until he saw the rest of the march. What he saw horrified him.
Many of the soldiers were injured heavily, covered in bandages, with some even needing the help of others to walk properly.
"Only this many made it back?" One member of the crowd noticed the lower number of soldiers compared to when they had first left.
"The others must have gotten eaten or turned into Kabane."
"Tch, this is what happens if when you go beyond the walls." Another member of the crowd grumbled.
"Moses!"
From the crowd, an elderly woman frantically made her way to the front of the march. "Excuse me, sir." She addresses the commander, who looks at her with dead eyes. "I don't see my son, Moses? Where can I find it?"
The Commander looks back. "It's Moses' mother. Bring it over."
One soldier walked to a cart that was moving to a different location than the Corps. They came back, holding a bloodied white cloth wrapped around something. They hand it over to the elderly woman, who was unsure about the object. She unwraps it, only to gasp as she sees a severed right arm. The arm of her son.
She sinks to her knees, a pained cry leaving her as she clutches onto the only remains of her son.
"I'm sorry. That was all we could retrieve." The Commander said.
Eren and Mikasa, who also stood on top of the box, looked at the scene with horror and sadness.
"But my son... he carried out his duty, right?" The woman looks up at the commander. "Even if he didn't achieve direct greatness, surely my son's death helped humanity to fight back, right!?"
"Of course!" The commander shouts before faltering, looking down to the ground dejected. "No... On this latest mission... no," He grits his teeth. "Just like every other mission, we achieve nothing! My incompetence has led all these soldiers to their deaths! And for what!? Nothing! We haven't found anything about them!" Tears streamed down the commander's face. The woman looked with a shocked and dead expression on her face.
The public was no better, watching the Survey Corps leave, dissatisfied looks on the crowd's faces.
"What a mess." One civilian mumbled.
"Tell me about it."
"At this point, we're just feeding and fattening those damn things with our taxes. What a waste." Another one grumbles before crying out as he gets hit on the head by a stick. He looks back to see Eren holding the stick in hand, an angry look on his face. "You damn brat!"
Mikasa quickly grabs Eren by the back of his shirt and pulls him away, despite his protests.
"Get back here!" The man shouts but doesn't pursue.
A distance away from the crowd, Mikasa stills drags Eren. "Isn't this far enough, Mikasa?" Eren still tries to free himself.
Without warning, Mikasa swings her arm and throws Eren into the wall effortlessly, the branches flying out of his tumpline.
"What was that for!?" Eren yells, wincing in pain. "Now the firewood is all over the place." He starts recollecting them.
Mikasa ignored that. "Eren, have you changed your mind about joining the Scouts?"
Eren glances at her before ignoring her question and continuing to pick up the sticks. "Help me pick these up."
"It's not like there wasn't much, to begin with." Mikasa comments before helping him.
"We're back." Eren announces as he and Mikasa enter their home. It was an average-sized house, similar to the others in the neighborhood.
Inside was a woman working in the kitchen and a man sitting at the table, writing down on his notes. The woman had hazel eyes, long black hair tied loosely. She wore a cream-colored sweater and a long red skirt with a white apron.
The man had brown hair, green eyes with glasses, and a thin beard and moustache. He wore a beige waistcoat and dark pants.
"Welcome back." The woman greeted them, a kind smile on her face. The man smiled as well.
Eren quickly placed his firewood into a crate. The woman noticed the amount he got. "My, Eren, you've been working harder than usual." She says as she walks up to him.
"Yeah..." Eren mutters, not looking at his mother. Noticing something was off, his mother pinched his earlobe, making Eren flinch a bit. "What?" He rubs the ear, trying to soothe the pain.
"Your ears are red. That means you're lying. Mikasa helped you out, didn't she?" The mother gave a teasing smile. Eren looked away, pouting.
At the table, the family ate lunch. As the mother washed the dishes, Eren looked at his father. "Hey, dad, are you heading out?" He asked, noticing the notes. "Work?"
"Yes." The man said, standing up and picking up his things. "Medical examinations within the walls. It should take around..." The man takes out a pocket watch. "A day. Maybe a day and a half at most."
"Okay." Eren returned to finishing his meal. Mikasa, however, wasn't eating.
Comfortable silence filled the house before Mikasa took a deep breath and spoke. "Eren wants to join the Survey Corps."
The woman gasped as she turned around, while the man simply flinched.
Eren looked at her in shock. Then the look turned into a look of anger. "Mikasa, I-I told you that was a secret!" He shouts, slamming his spoon on the table.
"Eren!" The woman rushes and places her hands on her son's shoulders. "What are you thinking? Do you know how many died outside the walls!?" She shouts out to him.
"I do!" Eren shouts back, surprising her.
"But why-"
"Eren," The man cuts in, causing both mother and son to look at him. "Why do you wish to venture outside these walls?"
Eren had a surprised look on his face but nevertheless answered the question. "I want to know... what's become of the outside world. I don't simply just want to live my entire life in these walls like this! Besides, if nobody follows in their footsteps, then all those who have sacrificed their lives would have been in vain!"
The house is silent, everyone surprised by Eren's speech. "I see." The man nods before grabbing his bag. "Well, I'll be off. The train leaves soon."
"Wait, Grisha dear!" The woman rushes to Grisha, who stood by the open door. "At least, say something to Eren."
"Carla," Grisha looks at his wife in the eye. "Mere words cannot hold back human curiosity." He then addresses Eren. "Eren, when I get back, I'll show you the secret I hid in the basement." He then pulls out a key from his collar and dangles it by the string.
Eren gasped in excitement. "Really?"
Carla and the two children watched Grisha head to the stations, Eren waving him goodbye.
"I'm still against it." Carla said, grabbing his attention. "Only fools would consider joining the Survey Corps."
"Huh? Fools!?" Eren turns to her, offended. "To me, the people that are content with just living here are more stupid!" He takes off running.
"Eren!" Carla calls him back, but he ignores her and continues to run.
She quickly turns to Mikasa and places her hands on her shoulders. "Mikasa, that boy has a habit of getting into trouble. Promise me, when something happens, you'll be there for each other."
Mikasa pauses and nods. "Okay." She then runs after Eren.
In an alley, there were four boys arguing amongst themselves.
"What's wrong, heretic?" A boy says after he had pushed a blonde hair boy into the wall. The other two boys watch on the sidelines. "If you don't like it, why don't you fight back?"
The blonde boy grunts in pain, a bit injured and sitting at the wall, looks up at the bullies. "As if I'd sink down to your level."
"What was that!?" The bully snarl.
"You're only resorting to physical violence because you can't prove I'm wrong." Despite his pain, the boy doesn't look away from his bullies. "Doesn't that admit that I'm right?"
The bully snarled and raised his fist. "Shut up, you rambling bookworm!"
"Hey!"
The boys heard a cry and turned to see what it was. They saw Eren running to them with an angry look on his face. "Stop right there!"
"It's Eren." One bully said before a grin appeared on his face. The other bullies had the same look and got ready to confront the charging boy.
"Back for more, I see?"
"He's itching for a beating, huh?"
"We'll make our sandbag! Wait," One bully noticed that Eren wasn't alone. Right behind him, with a scary look on her face, was Mikasa.
"Oh crap! It's Mikasa!" The bully exclaims, bravado all gone. The other bullies grew pale.
"Run! Just run!" The three bullies turn around and took off, never looking back.
Eren stops by the injured boy, a grin on his face. "Heh. That's all it takes. One look and they take off. I'm just that scary."
The boy on the ground, however, looked past Eren and saw Mikasa standing behind him. "Well, one of you is." He comments before trying to pick himself up, hissing in pain.
Eren, noticing his friend's pain, holds his hand out to him. "Hey, you're okay, Armin?"
Armin looks at the hand offered to him and looks down, gritting his teeth. "I'm fine." He slowly gets up, not taking the hand.
"Oh, alright."
Later on, as the sun turn to set, the three children sat near the waterside of the district.
"So, when I mentioned that humanity would soon have to expand beyond the walls, they hit me and called me a heretic." Armin explained the situation.
Eren growled, tossing a stone into the water. "Damn it, why does wanting to go beyond these walls have people turning against us?"
"Well, we have been inside these walls for the past hundred years. Even the other cities haven't had a breach in that time." Armin said shrugging. "Even the policies issued by the King curb any interest outside these walls. It's basically taboo."
"Yeah, well, it's stupid." Eren tosses another stone. "It's our lives that we're risking. It should be our choice to make."
"I won't allow it." Mikasa said firmly. "I can't."
Eren scoffs in annoyance. "Yeah, so what? You'd rat me out, again? Still can't believe you told them."
"I never promised to help you." Mikasa said.
Armin, deducing what they meant, asked. "Your parents know? What did they say?"
Eren looks at him with a sour look. "Well... they weren't very pleased."
Armin sighs. "I figured. True, the walls have been here, protecting us for nearly a century. But just because they have done so, doesn't guarantee that sometime, somewhere down along the line, it won't fail..."
The group fell into silence as they watched the district go about their daily lives. A child hugging her mother while their father watched with a smile. Children chased after each other, laughing as they go. A mother holds and gently rocks her baby in her arms, a content smile on her face.
Orange light shined on the district as a calming breeze swept over the area.
Until it stopped.
Suddenly, a lightning bolt came down from the heavens and struck outside the walls, nearing the outer gate. A powerful explosion took place and the resulting shockwave nearly knocked everyone off their feet, even launching the children off their seats.
As everyone was recovering, they saw smoke raising from outside the walls.
"W-what was that? An explosion?" Armin asked, getting up from the ground. His friends doing the same.
"It came from the gate!" The children saw a crowd of people make their way to the sight.
"Seems like something exploded."
"You think it's one of the train's boilers?"
"I have no idea."
"Come on. Let's check it out."
Armin run forward, following the crowd. "Armin!" Eren screams before following him. Mikasa joined shortly after.
When Eren and Mikasa finally caught up to Armin, they saw him frozen, staring up at the wall in horror. "Armin, what's wrong? What're you staring at?" The two followed Armin's gaze and similarly froze, faces paling in horror.
The crowd was no different, terror clearly present on their faces.
They saw a red hand clenching the walls hard enough to leave cracks.
"No way..." Armin mutters, eyes widening in horror. "That wall is 50-meters high."
"It's them." Eren whispers.
Then a red head rose from behind the wall and revealed itself. The head was skinless, showing all the muscles and teeth. Its eyes staring down at them with seemingly no emotion in them.
"A titan!"
The gigantic titan dips down. Unseen by the crowd, the massive titan pulled one foot back. Then it swung it down. The leg moved deceptively slow, hiding what massive power and weight the kick had.
The gate didn't stand a chance. An explosion of dust, air and rubble shot out as the gate was destroyed. Anyone nearby got either flung off their feet or got shredded and crushed by the high-speed projectiles.
Large debris, the size of boulders, shot out from the gate, crashing and crushing whatever house and person that was unfortunate enough to be under it.
At the end, all that was left was a large hole where the gate once stood. The colossal titan sneaked back behind the wall.
"T-they..." Armin stutters, fear coursing through him. "They blew a hole in the wall!"
Then the nightmare truly began as the people still heard loud footsteps.
Out from the hole came a large naked figure, a disturbing look on its face. As if it's trying to pass off being human. It was a Titan.
The crowd panicked and ran away.
"They're inside!"
"The Titans are coming!"
Armin also panicked but tried to himself calm. He knew that just panicking wasn't going to help them. "We need to- Eren!" He sees Eren walking towards the coming disaster, an unbelieving look on him.
"Our house is in that direction." Eren whispers, bumping past the fleeing crowd. "Mom..." He takes off.
Mikasa, realizing the danger, took off with him. "Mikasa!" Armin held out a hand to call them back before noticing his hand was shaking. He uses his free hand to try to calm it down, to no avail.
"It's all over. This town is soon... going to be overrun with Titans and Kabane!"
Eren and Mikasa run past the crowd, the massive rocks and the crushed bodies. They ignore all of that, only focused on reaching their home.
"It's going to be okay. There's no way our house got hit. Once I pass this corner, Mom will... will..." As they turn at the corner, the sight before them was frightening.
A gigantic boulder sat on top of their home.
"Mom!"
He rushes even faster. Thankfully, he sees his mother trapped under a pillar. Carla opens her eyes as she hears her son's voice. "Eren..."
The two children reach her and immediately try to get her out. "Mikasa, hold that side. We'll lift it up at the same time!" Eren tells her as he grabs one side of the pillar.
Mikasa nods and grabs the other side. Together, the two children try to pick up the pillar, but as children, they obviously didn't have the strength.
The sound of giant footsteps did nothing more than pressure them, as they could see multiple Titans walking in the distance.
Eren grit his teeth and pulled harder. "Pull harder, Mikasa!"
"I'm trying." Mikasa pulls with all her strength.
Carla began to understand what was truly going on. "They're inside the walls, aren't they?" She whispers before looking at the children. "Eren, take Mikasa and run away! Hurry!"
"I want to run away! Get up already!" Eren continues to try to lift the pillar.
"My legs are crushed. Even if I got out of here, I can't run." Carla tries to explain, but he was having none of that.
"I'll run away carrying you!" Eren states, trying to deny the reality of the situation, tears in his eyes.
"Why don't you ever listen to what I tell you?" Carla cries out at him, tears in her eyes as well. "At least listen to my last request! Mikasa!" She tries to urge her.
Mikasa starts crying too. "No." She continues on, trying to lift the pillar.
One Titan makes its way to them. It had blonde hair and a creepy, unnatural smile.
Carla heard its footsteps drawing closer. "Please leave, otherwise the three of us will..." She tries to plead for them to leave but hears another sound. It was the sound of cables retracting as Hannes lands behind the children and rushes to them. "Hannes! Please, take the children and run!"
Hannes, shocked at her request, takes a deep breath and smiles. "Really Carla? Do you think I'm that small a man? I can't leave you here." His face grows serious. "I'll end this thing here and save all three of you."
He then takes off to face the approaching Titan, drawing his blades out.
"Wait! Don't face it. Take them away, please!" Carla pleads.
She's right. It would be smarter to take the two of them and leave. Hannes thinks as he runs. "But to hell with that. This right here is where I pay back my debt!" He screams out loud before skidding to a stop.
He looks over at the monstrosity in front of him. At its creepy smile. The way it looked down at him as if he was nothing more than another meal. And its towering size.
Hannes looked at all that and came to a terrifying conclusion.
He couldn't fight it.
He couldn't ever muster up the will to do so.
Sheathing his blades, Hannes runs back and grabs Eren. "Hannes!? What are you doing!?" Eren tries to free himself, but Hannes holds on tight. He does the same with Mikasa and, with of them in his arms, he runs away.
Carla smiled in relief, finally seeing her children run to safety. "Thank you."
"Hannes, my mom... she still..." Eren continues, trying to free himself.
Carla cries as she reaches out to them. "Eren! Mikasa! You two need to live on."
Suddenly, a memory appears in her head. A memory of her family. Grisha. Eren. Mikasa. All of them, being happy in their home.
She covers her mouth as she sobs, realizing that she'll never experience those moments ever again. To see her family happy and to experience their happiness with them.
"Please... don't go."
Eren gasps in shock as he sees the Titan dig through the house and pick up Carla.
"STOP!" Eren cries out as he reaches out a hand at them. The Titan continues to lift Carla, even as she struggles to break free. The Titan grabs her with both hands and breaks her spine, ending the mother's struggles.
Eren and Mikasa looked on in horror. As the Titan lifted the still body of their mother to its mouth, Mikasa looks away. Eren, however, doesn't.
He watches as the Titan bites down on his mother, spraying her blood as its massive teeth crushes her fragile body.
On that day, mankind remembered...
Eren stares in horror as his mother's blood flew. Lots of blood stains the ground behind them as they were running away.
The fear of oppression...
The Titan tilts its head back, swallowing. Looking content with its meal. Eren still doesn't look away.
And the humiliation of being caged like birds.
At the gate, if anyone there were still alive, they would have seen red dots in the hole. And they would have been more horrified at what came out.
A group of humans walk out, groaning as they did. Except they were not human. They couldn't be human.
Not with their pale and dead skin. Not with their dead eyes and unnatural movement. And certainly not with the glowing heart that shined through their skin.
These non-human entities took one sniff of the air and let out a bone-chilling screech as they rush forward.
The Kabane have invaded.
A/N: A new story. This time about a combined Attack on Titan and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress world. Honestly, I'm surprised that there's so little crossover fics about these two stories, given how similar they are.
There wasn't a lot of Kabane action in this chapter, so I'll include them in the next.
Anyway, please leave any constructive criticism.
