Hello Loves!

Yet another story from me. Although this one is in a total different fandom than my flubbed Portal potion Story, we're headed to the MCU.

First things first: Disclaimer: Not my playground, I just enjoy it...

This story is completed. This story exists in German, so if you think you know that story, yeah, its mine. Its seven chapters long and I wrote it in 2014 as an answer to a challenge. In Short: we got to chose our fandom and then got seven prompts, one each Sunday. So we had one week to complete each prompt and upload it before getting the next prompt.

I'll translate those prompts so you know how i got these sometimes really weird ideas :D

So, Prompt 1:

The whole story begins with a funeral. A funeral with Tyrannosaurus Rex. (Bonus point if the dino gives the eulogy.)

Now, have fun!

A different kind of challenges

Chapter 1 - Beware of Fleas

"Are you insane, woman? Why me? You know very well that THAT isn't my specialty", Tony defended himself tooth and nail against Pepper's 'brilliant' idea.
But she couldn't be talked out of her idea. "Because you're the only one here who has time, Tony. The sickness rate is higher than it has been for a long time, and someone has to do this job too. You'll get there. Maybe you can take Steve with you, he should be a bit more patient than you. And he doesn't have such a loose mouth." She gave Tony a rather piercing look. Her voice sounded so final, that Tony gave up arguing any further.
Instead, he nodded resignedly. "I'll ask him. I'm not going there alone."
"But really ask, my dear," Pepper admonished him. She knew him too well.

Less than four hours later, Tony Stark, playboy, billionaire, genius and philanthropist, was sitting in Central Park with Steve Rogers, surrounded by a horde of rampaging, belligerent midgets — or rather, a group of four-year-old kindergarteners from Stark Tower company daycare.
In Tony's eyes, it came down to the same thing.
"Man, they have stamina..." he grumbled and wondered how the teachers could cope with the concentrated power of these kids.
For three hours now they had been strolling through the safe parts of the park with the little ones and slowly he felt like after an extended fight as Iron Man. But the midgets here still had energy for ten, it seemed.
Steve, still looking like they'd just left with the kids, grinned at him. "Are you getting old, Stark?"
"Pff, not everyone can have superpowers," he replied, quite unimaginative for his standards. But he was tired, the night had been too short again and then Pepper came up with the stupid idea of supervising this flea circus for a day because half the teachers in the kindergarten were sick.
Tony was very happy about the break they were now taking. It was lunchtime and they would be having a picnic in a few minutes - as soon as Happy arrived with the food baskets. Until then, Steve and he let the kids play here on this huge lawn where they could see the whole pack.

But Tony, like so many people before him, had to realize that he couldn't have his eyes everywhere at the same time.
To his left, a girl suddenly burst into tears and started screaming. "Püppi... Püppi..."
Immediately Steve and he were on their feet and rushed to the girl. Tony knelt in front of her. "Lisa, what's wrong?"
"My... Püppi... Jimmy broke my Püppi!" the little one yelped heartrendingly and pointed to the doll lying in the grass in front of her.
Steve immediately looked around for the culprit, who Tony could see out of the corner of his eye was hiding behind the other boys.
Tony picked up the completely tattered rag doll. "Oh my goodness, poor Püppi," he said softly.
Little Lisa sniffled and looked at him with wide, hopeful eyes. "Can you heal her?"
He carefully pulled Lisa to him and put his arm around her. "No sweetheart, unfortunately I can't." He admitted and the little one began to cry heartrendingly again.
A quick look around showed him that Steve had not only picked out Jimmy, but also made sure that all the children gathered under the tree where Steve and Tony had just been sitting. Good.
He quickly focused on Lisa again and gently stroked her blond, messy hair. It took the little one a few minutes to calm down enough for Tony to be able to talk to her again. "What are we going to do with Piippi now? Would you like to take her home with you?"
Lisa sniffed heavily. "When... when someone dies... they're... buried, aren't they?"
"Yes," Tony replied with a raised eyebrow. How did the little girl know that at her age?
"Then... then we'll have to bury Püppi too," came the girl's voice with a trembling voice.
Tony had to suppress a smile at the absolute sincerity with which Lisa stated this wish. "Then we'll do it. Come on, help me find a nice tree under which we can bury Püppi."
Lisa nodded and grabbed another stuffed animal, a T-Rex. She hugged the stuffed animal hard and took Tony's hand. "Come on Rexi, we have to bury Püppi now... Poor Püppi..." And again a few tears fell, but she walked with Tony to the trees at the edge of the meadow.
Tony glanced at Steve, who gave him a reassuring nod. The rest of the kids sat around Steve, everything was fine, Tony could continue to take care of Lisa.
His look fell onto the T-Rex in Lisa's arms and an idea struck him. But first they had to find the right place.

Lisa quickly found what she was looking for, a weeping willow was to be Püppi's final resting place, how appropriate. Tony knelt in front of her again and held out the remains of the doll. "Give me your Rexi and take Püppi until we've dug the grave, okay?"
Lisa nodded slowly and Tony took the stuffed dinosaur.
Then he waved Steve and the other kids over. "We're burying Püppi here, Lisa would like that. Sit here around the tree, kids." he instructed, then grabbed Steve and pulled him aside a little. "Steve, can you dig a hole, I have an idea how we can cheer up Lisa, at least a little."
Steve gave him a septic look and he picked up the dino, grinning. "Pay attention and learn from the master."
Then he pulled out his cell phone. "Jarvis, I need your help."

Lisa was sitting under the weeping willow tree with her doll and sadly stared down at the scraps of fabric when Tony held out the dinosaur to her. "Lisa, listen, Rexi wants to talk to you."
"Rexi can't..." she started, but was interrupted.
"Hi Lisa."
The little one stared in complete perplexity at the suddenly speaking dinosaur. "Rexie?! You can speak?"
"Yes, but only now. Tony did magic, you know?" the T-Rex replied. "It doesn't last very long."
"Wow... Thank you, Mr. Tony." Lisa looked at him with wide, amazed eyes.
Tony smiled softly. "No problem, darling."
"Tell me Lisa, should I tell the other children something about Püppi?" the dinosaur asked the girl and Lisa nodded vigorously.

While the dino alias Jarvis questioned Lisa a bit on Tony's cell phone hidden in the dino's fanny pack, Tony joined Steve, who had already dug a small hole between the roots of the weeping willow. "Complete?"
Steve nodded and looked at Lisa. "Stark, sometimes you really amaze me. That idea is not stupid at all."
Tony grinned broadly, "Hey come on, you know I can think of the weirdest things," but then got serious again. "I had a similar experience as a child, but apart from my mother trying to comfort me, I didn't have anyone who made me happy in any way. This little one shouldn't mourn her doll for as long as I did for my stuffed dog."
Steve raised an eyebrow. "Didn't your father give you a new..."
"My father was too busy to notice such trivial things, Steve. You know him and you know me. We're pretty similar in our zeal when it comes to inventions of any kind. A child doesn't fit into the scheme." Tony interrupted Steve, shaking his head.
Steve sighed. "While I'm still having trouble reconciling the Tony Senior you're describing with the Tony Senior I knew, I'll take your word for it that he didn't realize such things when he was engaged in any of his experiments."
"He never got anything like that," Tony corrected the Captain and then turned to the children. Steve had just known his father differently, he would never fully understand it.
"Lisa, Rexi, are you ready?" he asked and received a slow nod from Lisa.
He waved the little one over and then knelt by the hole. "Put Püppi in here. And then Rexi can tell something, right?"
"Yes..." Lisa sniffed and held out the dinosaur before gently placing the remains of her doll in the hole.

All the kids looked at Tony who was holding the T-Rex. "Well, Rexi wants to tell you a bit about Püppi and the adventures she had with Lisa. Do you want to hear that?"
"Yes!" came the chorus. Most of the children didn't seem to understand what was happening here, only that Lisa was very sad. But the meaning of this ritual could not be grasped by many of them.
Still, they listened intently as Jarvis began to speak.
"Lisa and Püppi had known each other for four years. Püppi was always with Lisa, no matter where we went.
You know Püppi too, Lisa always brought her to kindergarten with her and never let her out of her sight. I'm there from time to time, but Püppi was always there.
Even during loud and scary thunderstorms, Püppi was the first to comfort Lisa. And with the doctor's nasty pokes, she was there, too.
In summer Lisa, Püppi and I went to the beach and experienced great things there. We were all three wet and full of sand from building the sandcastle, where Püppi and I moved in as queen and king, and Lisa was our big, strong castle guard. She even protected us and our castle from the big schoolboys!"
The children chattered in astonishment after the last sentence and even gave Lisa admiring looks.
Tony had to grin. All the children of the Stark Tower staff had two floors to use there. The kindergarten was there full time of course, but the elementary school children only came there to get help with their homework. Nevertheless, the little ones had been in contact with the bigger bullies often enough that Lisa's action seemed to make a big impression on her friends.
Jarvis the T-Rex continued to talk. "Yes, we were very proud of our Lisa. Especially Püppi, you can believe that.
But now we have to experience the next adventures without Püppi, because Püppi is now going on her last big adventure alone, on which we cannot accompany her. But Püppi wouldn't have wanted us to cry and be sad, she would have wanted us to laugh a lot and remember good times with her."
Steve, who was kneeling next to Lisa, pointed to the small pile of dirt "Do you want to cover Püppi's grave again yourself?"
She nodded and pushed the dirt towards the hole with her little hands. There she hesitated, looking down at her doll for some time before she finally let the dirt fall into the hole.
Steve then helped her to press the earth back down so that you could hardly see that there had been a hole just a moment ago.

She didn't see Tony unobtrusively fish his cell phone out of the T-Rex's fanny pack. "Well done Jarvis," he murmured, slipping the phone into his pocket. The other children, who were all watching Steve and Lisa, didn't notice either. Good, mission accomplished.

At that moment, Happy approached them along with two members of the security team, each of the men carrying two huge picnic baskets.
Tony looked around. "So, and now we're going to have a picnic, here under the tree, so that Lisa can stay with her Püppi a little longer, okay?"
Cheers greeted him. Only Lisa did not join in the cheering. She stayed seated and stared at the ground.
Steve waved Happy over. "Here, Mr. Hogan!"
"When are you going to learn to just call me Happy like everyone else, Cap?" Happy asked rhetorically and handed Steve one of the baskets. "Blanks are on top of each basket."
Tony meanwhile sat back down to Lisa and held out Rexi to her. "I think my spell isn't working anymore."
"Oh... Can't you do that magic again, Mr. Tony?" she asked curiously.
Tony slowly shook his head. "No, you can only put something like that on a stuffed animal once, you know?"
Lisa looked down at Rexi and sighed, "Too bad... But you still told a great story, Rexi. Püppi must have liked that."
"I think so too," Tony agreed. "Now come on, let's have a nice sandwich. Rexi is right, Püppi wouldn't want you sitting here so sad and alone. And besides, Rexi needs you now too, after all, he too has lost a friend."
Lisa's posture straightened a bit. "You're right, Mr Tony. I have to be there for Rexi. Come on, Rexi, let's have a picnic." With those words, she got to her feet. "Bye Püppi... I'll visit you again soon!"
Tony looked after her in amazement while she joined the other children who were busy with the baskets.

Steve walked up to him and held out a turkey sandwich. "Not too bad for someone who says he can't handle kids, Tony"
"Thanks, Cap..." Tony replied and grabbed the sandwich. "Didn't think it would work that well. But Jarvis did a really great job. I think I'll have to come up with something for him... As a reward."
"Give him a look. At least holographically. He's wanted that for a long time." Steve suggested.
Tony stared at him in amazement. "Really. Why doesn't he tell me that?"
"He thought you wouldn't consider that important," Steve replied, biting into his ham sandwich.
Tony shook his head. "What is he thinking? But that's a good idea, I should do that soon.
But first get through the day with the kids here without any further incidents. What are we going to do with the midgets for the rest of the day?"

Soooo, that's Prompt number one...
