Luna sighed as she adjusted her cork necklace once more. Her mother had taught her to make them when she was young and it was the thing that comforted the young blonde more than anything else within the castle walls. Which was understandable in her mind.

People saw her as weird, and maybe she was, but she couldn't help it. Not when she bore the curse she did. It was hard to let go of her superstitions when she saw what happened to people who didn't pay them heed.

She hated being a seer, especially when she so often saw naught but misfortune. As soon as that thought had crossed her mind though she got another vision.

Looking in the mirror Luna was unsurprised to notice her face wasn't her own but instead belonged to Tracy Davis. The girl was talking with Daphne Greengrass. "He is just being such a jerk! I can't believe he is pulling this knowing we have a Hogsmede visit this weekend."

Tracy kept going in her rant for a few more moments before looking at the other girl. "You are so lucky that you are the 'Ice Queen.' No guy would dare treat you like this." Daphne was sympathetic, as a good friend would be, though she had her own problems.

Which Tracy knew so she let out a slow breath. "I am sorry, I shouldn't be saying things like that."

"It is alright Trace, sometimes you just need to vent, I understand." The girls hugged before leaving the bathroom together. As they walked towards their first class of the day, they happened to cross the path of a black cat. Daphne paused but Tracy kept walking, the half-blood not being superstitious due to her muggle mother.

This proved to be a mistake though. As Tracy stepped onto the stairs she turned to look at Daphne. "Aren't you coming?"

The blonde fifth-year shook her head. "I know you see them as silly superstitions Trace, but it's better to be careful. Some superstitions were started for a reason and we won't be late if we go around." Tracy scoffed though and continued climbing the stairs while Daphne walked to another set of stairs on the other side of the Great Hall.

Then it happened, tragedy struck. Right as Tracy got to the apex of the stairs. They moved at the last moment and the young witch was sent stumbling backward, falling down the stairs. She hit her head on a few steps and after reaching the bottom of the staircase again, she looked over at her own arm which was twisted at an odd angle, and let out an anguished cry.

With a jolt, Luna was back in her own body, a scream of pain on her lips and tears in her eyes. She managed to bite down on the scream at the last second so as not to bring more attention to herself and instead just let out a few whimpers. When she stopped feeling the phantom pain she walked towards the stair and headed down.

Logically the blonde knew that the cat had nothing to do with what happened. That being said, if she made it to the bottom of the stairs before the girls started heading to class and moved the cat, then Daphne wouldn't go around and would be with Tracy as they ascended the steps.

If that was the case then Tracy wouldn't stop for those precious seconds and they would manage to get off the staircase before it moved and the fifth-year wouldn't fall. So Luna rushed down the steps when she made it to them, taking two steps at a time. She made it to the bottom with plenty of time to spare and saw the cat.

"Hello pretty one, did you lose your owner? The nargles led them away from you, didn't they? Well don't worry, I will take you to the Great Hall. They are probably there eating." The girl said with an airy smile, easily hiding the pain and worry that had constantly followed her since her mother's death.

The cat didn't seem to mind the blonde girl and the fourth-year easily picked him up. "You are a good boy aren't you." She said to help keep him calm. Then she noticed Tracy and Daphne coming towards the stairs.

"Well look, it's Loony." Tracy said with a laugh. Luna understood that she felt vulnerable right now and was trying to act mean so others didn't notice so she shrugged the insult off.

"Let's not waste time on the crazy girl, Trace." Daphne said as they started to ascend the stairs together.

Tracy nodded her head. "Yeah, it's not like anything she says would make sense anyway."

The older blonde rolled her eyes behind her friend's back as they both walked right past Luna and headed to class.

Luna easily ignored the insults though as she watched the two climb the stairs, the set changing right after the girls stepped off of them. Tracy still almost slipped but that split second of stopping due to Daphne never happened and the girl was safe now.

"I wonder if there is pudding out right now. I can look while we try to find your owner." Luna said as she started towards the Great Hall. As much as her curse weighed on her, she did love the times she could stop the bad thing from happening but she wished that she could tell people what they should and shouldn't worry about and they would believe her. The cat hadn't done anything to anyone but just because it was there in the hall a girl could have died today.

Shaking her head free of such thoughts, Luna put on her Spectrespecs and walked to the Great Hall. Using the odd glasses to avoid the wrackspurts and nargles. She found the cat's owner. It was a young first-year girl who had been rather frantically searching for her feline friend.

With the two reunited, Luna told the girl that she should keep a closer eye on her friend as losing a friend is always a terrible thing. The girl was apologetic and promised to keep a closer eye on the cat.

With her vision stopped, and the cat in good hands, Luna looked towards the table and saw a bowl of pudding appear. A note appeared next to it.

Hoggywarty thanks yous.

It was written by one of the house elves and it made the blonde give the castle around her a gentle smile. Everyone around her might think she was just being weird, but she ate the pudding happily before heading towards her first class herself.
