This is a new fanfiction story of the Dragonheart franchise which picks up on where Dragonheart 4: the battle of the heart fire ended with Edric and Meghan watching the skies as Drago's spirit ascends to the stars.
I don't own the Dragonheart franchise; I chose to write the story.

In the following days after the defeat of Thorgrim and the Danish Vikings, Meghan assumed the throne and continued to rule the kingdom as its queen whilst Edric stood at her side as the prince of the Britannian kingdom. Sable, the shieldmaiden and second in command of Thorgrim, retreated on her boat to head back to her Dane lands so she may regroup for another raid elsewhere.

The week after their victory and the reprieval of Edric's exile, Meghan called him into the throne room to talk alone.

Once the two were alone in the room, Edric was the first to speak. "So Meghan, It must be good to be normal for once."

"Edric, I can see that you're just trying to make idle conversation. Just because we can't read each other's minds anymore, it doesn't mean that I can't read the disappointed look on your face." Meghan replied looking at Edric whilst she sat still on the throne.

Feeling like he was caught off guard, Edric started to give a chuckle and he spoke. "Yeah, I do have that look. But the thing is that I'm beginning to miss being strong and the scales on my back did save me from being cut down by Thorgrim's axe during that battle."

"Yes that is true but I don't miss my scales at all, I have a chance to show my face in public again. Although I will embrace my new looks, it won't mean that I will change how I think and I hope that you will support me as the Queen of this kingdom." said Meghan. Edric looked up at her sister when she spoke her hopes to him.

"I support you, after all, that I did to you?" Edric asked. "You did save my life with Drago's heartfire and he gave his life for us. So I want us to start a new beginning, ruling the kingdom as brother and sister like we once were before." Meghan replied.

Remembering the day they bonded before they returned to the castle to retrieve the heartfire from Thorgrim, Edric thought it over as he stood.
He turned away from his sister and looked out to the window when Meghan stood up from her throne and went over to his side.

"If you don't want to, I will understand." said Meghan.

"Truth is I'm considering it, Meghan. I lost you once and I intend not to do it again, so I will accept the position as an Earl and councillor if you can do me one thing for me." asked Edric, turning his head to look at his sister who drew a grin of confidence and she nodded.

After that day when they spoke to each other, Meghan began the first days of her reign as Queen Meghan of Britannia, daughter of Walter.
She removed Earl Robert from his lands. Stripping him of his title in front of the people, he exiled him for his crimes against her and her brother as part of the condition Edric made with her. Meghan named her brother the new Earl of the shire lands as long as he stands with her as part of the council on her decree. Together as brother and sister again, Edric and Meghan brought a reign of peace and prosperity across the kingdom in honour of the dragon who gave his life to save them.

Life as the new Earl became good and he learned to use his head rather than his muscles.
Eventually, Edric followed his own heart to another kingdom in Britannia; he married a fair princess named Bianca and invited her to settle in his lands.
She offered to teach him how to read a book or understand written words so he can be a better lord to his people. With the princess' help and his sister Meghan's guidance and support, Edric started learning to read books so that he can gain knowledge and wisdom and govern the grounds well.
Although he chose to settle down in the lands where Earl Robert once lived, Edric continued to stay close and help his sister Meghan rule wisely and with mercy as Drago would have wanted them. In those new days, the lands of Britannia became prosperous under the reign of the twin monarchs for the remainder of their days.

During her reign, Meghan held meetings with lords and other young princes who ruled their own kingdoms in Britannia.
It was under the recommendation of her new councillors to hold these meetings with these young princes not just to discuss concerns about the lands and laws of all towns and villages, it was so she can choose a worthy suitor that she would marry in order to produce an heir for her throne and legitimise her line but when there was no one worthy of her or who followed the old code of King Arthur himself, she continued to rule Britannia and listen to her own heart; learning from the wisdom and guidance of their people, Edric and Meghan and his wife Bianca embodied the old Code of Chivalry in their hearts as did their Grandfather Gareth, an English knight of Britannia.

The lady-in-waiting Kendra served her queen as her friend and advisor but she spent some of her time with Tomi, the warrior boy who shared the same feelings for her in return. They were married in a private ceremony and they settled down near the lands where Edric was living and went on to have three children together; two girls named Sara and Rhonu in honour of their Queen's late grandmother and a boy named Lance.

As it was said, Meghan became a well-respected queen of the lands whilst Edric became a father of two children named Geoffrey and Alana.

In the new time of, peace, justice and sibling hood those days were golden years warmed by an unworldly light. And when things became the most difficult, the twin monarchs would raise their heads to the stars where the constellation Draco showed more brightly for all those who know where to look.
