The music on the top deck was too loud for any real conversation, or at least Catherine thought so. Isabela didn't seem to mind, and was busy explaining the sequence of events for the show, and when the fireworks would happen.
Catherine really found it a bit too crowded for her liking, beyond the noise itself. Crowds going against each other, trying to get from one end of the ship to the other. All of a sudden, she saw Henry, the young man she had seen a few days before, also dressed for the party.
"Henry!" she called out, waving vigorously.
He looked over and waved back, and only then did she realize he was walking arm in arm with another girl. She would have to do her best not to act disappointed, since they were making their way over.
"Hello!" he shouted over the music.
"Hello!" she replied. "How are you?"
"Good!" he shouted back. "I don't think you've met my sister, Eleanor?"
"Your sister?" Catherine repeated, smiling more than she intended. "Nice to meet you, Eleanor!"
Catherine stuck her hand out, which Eleanor happily returned.
"I'm here with-" Catherine looked around, and realized she had lost her friend. "I was here with someone, but I suppose we got separated. Are you going to see the fireworks?"
"Of course!" Henry smiled. "Would you like to find your friend first?"
Catherine looked around again. "I don't suppose I'll find her again," she admitted. "I'm sure I'll find her tomorrow."
"If you think it's okay," Henry's sister said, "we can find someplace quiet to watch."
"I think I'd like that!" Catherine agreed.
