It was a glorious day for Lucas in Sandgem Town. His Pokémon adventure was set to begin as he happened to come across a professor and his assistant, Dawn. Lucas was thrilled to have met these new friends as he soon traveled along the pleasant Route 202 to meet up with Dawn, who was going to show him the ropes. Route 202 took Lucas into the alluring nature landscape outside the town, a place Dawn had assured that the Pokémon are safe, non-threatening and easy to catch.
After a short time walking along the route, Lucas quickly spotted his new friend, with Dawn then holding out a cheerful wave and an excited Lucas could not wait to start expanding his Pokémon collection. "Can't wait to begin!" Lucas' excitement was a thousand.
"Oh, that's right!" Dawn exclaimed. "Lucas, I haven't shown you how to catch a Pokémon."
"I'll demonstrate how to catch one, so just watch me, OK?" Dawn cheered with a nod as Lucas gave a nod in return.
Dawn promptly walked over towards the forest, knowing the amount of wild Pokémon hanging around the area. Soon enough, a wild Bidoof appeared!
"Go! Chimchar!" Dawn shouted out as she tossed her Poké ball onto the ground and her Chimchar promptly appeared.
"Chimchar, scratch!" Dawn commanded. However, the mischievous chimp looked back with a smirk, poking its tongue out as it zoomed away from the battle. "Huh...?" Dawn tilted her head in confusion.
The wild Bidoof used headbutt! But there was no target...except for the trainer standing in front of it.
Knowing she was out of usable Pokémon, Dawn let out a gulp as her sweat dropped seeing the Bidoof charge forward. BAM!
Dawn blacked out!
Lucas stood awkwardly for a moment and he was left scratching his head at the perplexing event that just unfolded. "Dawn...? Are you there?" A befuddled Lucas questioned as he looked down at the now unconscious girl.
No response from Dawn, so Lucas kneeled down and waved a hand over her face while snapping his fingers. "Hello? Earth to Dawn? Hey, wake up!" No dice. Lucas frowned a little as he poked Dawn's cheek. "Don't tell me you got knocked out by that cute and fluffy critter..." Lucas bemused with a shrug.
A decent amount of time had passed with Lucas lifting up Dawn's arm and letting it drop repeatedly. Lucas was beginning to feel quite bored until his attention soon turned to the wild Bidoof.
He realised it was still scurrying about and it soon locked eyes with Lucas. "Dawn...? Dawn!" Lucas shook the out cold Dawn to no avail as the Bidoof scuttled over and was ready to engage in battle. "Well...here goes nothing..." Lucas slowly got up and prepared to cast his Poké ball.
"Go! Piplup!" Lucas called out as he casted the ball and Piplup appeared. At first he figured it'd be no problem to catch the Bidoof, but he had second thoughts after just seeing it knock the professor's assistant out. He could not back down though, and the battle was on!
