Guardians, everywhere. Link had stepped in front of Zelda, knowing there was no way to fight all of them off. Zelda had tried to warn him, but he protected her anyway.

Once Link fell, Zelda's hidden power had awoken. She commanded the Guardians to stop, her hand had glew, and a pulsating, yellow light, emanated from her hand, stopping every Guardian in it's tracks and powering them down. She had beat them.

That was great then, but not now. Her main worry was Link. He had taken several hits for her; he did manage to black most of them with his shield, but the power of the Guardians was too much and it shattered, pieces flying to the floor. Light reflected off of each of the pieces but there was no time to pick them up.

Some of the palace guards had heard of the disaster and came as soon as possible. "Princess! What's the matter? Are you alright?"

"Yes, I am fine." She looked at Link. "Link...he...won't make it."

"We have a Shrine of Resurrection, Princess," one of the guards stated.

That was it. That sparked an idea that had been long gone. She knew Link was strong, and he seemed almost impossible to beat. Because of that, she had locked it away. Now is the time to use it.

"Bring him there," Zelda commanded, her voice shaky but strong.

"What about you, Princess?" the first guard asked.

"I will be fine. I will meet you there."

"Right," the both said in unison and helped to carry Link.

Zelda stood and walked over to her horse, which was waiting nearby. "To the palace," she whispered. Her horse whinnied and followed her order. Her horse galloped as fast as it's legs could carry it. "Wait here," Zelda said, as she dismounted her horse and ran into the palace.

"Zelda? Why are you in such a rush?" King Roan asked his daughter.

"The Guardians have turned against us and killed Link. I need to save him. Do you know where-"

"Check upstairs, Zelda," King Roam replied, with worry in his eyes.

"Thank you, Father."

Zelda ran upstairs and rummaged through a few drawers and rooms. She picked up a golden harp, passed along in the royal family for generations. "Here you are."

Zelda retreaded back down the stairs and mounted her horse. "You know where to go," she said, patting her horse's neck. The horse took off again.

She returned to the Shrine of Resurrection, where the guards just finished putting Link into the bed. "Oh, Princess. You've returned."

"Yes," Zelda replied calmly. "I have some business to do now."

"Yes, Princess!" The guards said, bowing.

Zelda raised the harp, and began strumming the strings. She began to play the royal song, Ballad of the Goddess.

After the prelude, she began to sing. The guards continued to bow.

When the Chosen Hero Falls,

Faroe's wind no longer calls.

Din's fire will now cease,

Nayru's wisdom will decrease.

Take the Sacred Sword in hand,

Thrust it into the stand.

Take hold the ancient harp,

Play the rest by heart.

Zelda played the closing, repeating the chorus another time. The water began to fill the bed and Zelda removed the Sword that Seals the Darkness. She turned to her guards.

"I will return to Korok Forest and put the sword in the stand. You will stay here until the water is full. Once it is done, you will return back to the castle and report to my father."

"Yes, Princess," the first guard said, rising.

Zelda mounted her horse and rode to the forest. The forest spirits can watch the sword. They are very good guardians. The Deku Tree can take a message for her as well. To tell Link what happened. To tell him to take the sword again and defeat Ganon, once and for all.

She hated that this has to happen, but it's the only way. She has to take responsibility for what happened. She is the princess of Hyrule, chosen by Hylia to protect the land from Ganondorf. It is not something to take lightly. Her relationship with Link, how it started out...that didn't help either. Although, they did grow close together through their traveling together, and even if she would go to Gerudo Town just to avoid Link, he would always find a way to protect her. He was silent, but kind. He never hurt a fly.

This is why he was chosen to defeat Ganon. This is why he is Hylia's chosen hero. This is why she must do this. This is why she must return the sword and wait for Link's return...and protect Hyrule to the best of her ability. To do her job. To protect Link.
