AN: Yo, Sorry I gotta make this warning, I thought I could avoid it, but it seems its still necessary to avoid the….unique types of readers.

Warnings for this story:

/: No genius triple digit IQ MC.
/: No Author with a triple digit IQ. Me hit with stick. Me smart.
/: No MC who forgets to live life because he wants to munchkin his new life like a video game.
/: No Munchkin, as stated above.
/: Expect the MC to make problems he has to overcome.
/: Don't expect face slapping or bashing.

/: Don't expect Aizen Sosuke as the mc. 'Oh, an enemy? I had 36 plans to defeat you I thought up when I took a shit 64 years ago. Here's my first trap card.' Just, no.
.
The goal here power wise is to make a progressive power scale where he doesn't become OP overnight, he has to train and learn things realistically. Characters are not dumbed down to make him seem smarter. And to make him OP at a steady rate. And hopefully to do it without giving him a thousand powers/perks he will never use.
.
That's about it. If you're still here, try giving two chapters a shot. Many have skipped the first chapter to get right into the plot, but if you want to know why things happen the way they do, chapter 1 is essential to the rules and format.
.
I'm crossposting this REWRITE on QQ or QuestionableQuesting if you want to follow along closely to updates and discuss specific parts of the chapters with me. If not, I'll still upload here.
Thanks everyone for the love and support.

Prologue: Warehouse Part 1
Illusion and reality.
Where did the line begin and end? Which one was real, and which one was fantasy?
Was it all in our heads? Was it our views on reality that made reality real?
When we dream, are we dreaming of an illusion, or was it when we wake up that we are, in fact dreaming, and the dreamer existed in reality.
Jin couldn't help but wonder about it. The concept was roving through his head alongside the strange experience of tasting the color blue.
He died.
And now he was conscious again.
He had trouble understanding. At least he thought he was alive. He had a body again.
His mind, on the other hand, was a mess of jumbled fragmented memories.
"Did I have a family? I think I remember a woman's voice. No, it could have been a child? I remember a foot, or was that a fat hand?"
His mind was a swirl of confusion.
He wasn't even sure if he was from Earth. A couple game references made him want to randomly scream FOR THE HORDE and bash something. He was pretty sure that memory was corrupted. Maybe. It was on the table.
Frankly, he couldn't not think of fantasy elements. His mind kept coming back to them as the most whole things he could comprehend. It was really fucking with his perceptions of reality.
Maybe he was a magical girl. Or perhaps that was a doujin he once….researched.
The only evident memory was space shattering like glass as a blur of colors smashed into him from….somewhere…. and him waking up wherever here was.
It made perfect sense.
Seeing that trying to think wasn't getting him anywhere, he sighed and sat up while rubbing his head. "Alright, what's going on here."
His eyes trailed the empty dark warehouse looking space around him. He could barely make out the walls and ceiling made of metal while he sat on concrete ground, illuminated by the dim light coming off a metallic iPad to his side.
It blinked softly with a gentle beep from an unread notification. He raised a brow at it. 'Why is this making me feel like I'm in a coma hooked up to a bed somewhere? I hope they don't harvest my organs.'
Somehow, dying felt like a release. 'I can't say whats making me feel this way, but who knows. What was that quote? Death is but the next great adventure? Maybe that's what I need. Adventure.'
He internally chuckled at the passing thought and reached over to tap the beeping screen, only for it to flash like the light of heaven's wrath reflecting off King Neptune's bald head. "MY EYES!"
{Testing, testing, is this thing on?"}
A voice spoke out while he writhed on the ground holding his face.
{Oh? Did I surprise you? Apologies, but I'm quite busy, so pay attention.}
Jin blinked the stars from his eyes and glared at the screen for a moment as it was suddenly filled by a large middle-aged man in a three-piece suit with striking red eyes sitting on a leather chair by a fire.
{"Ah, there we go. Hello young man!
I know this might be a bit strange for you, but I'll explain things in this recording; it's not a live feed, so please pay attention.
First off, my name is Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg; you may refer to me as Zelretch."}
".…Oh fuck." An alarm blared in DEFCON 4 as his mind forcefully pulled dozens of fragments of stories he had read about the name Zelretch.
He had the attention of the emperor… of trolls…. this couldn't end well.
{"Now, as I'm sure you know from reading your memories, I am the user of the second true magic, the Kaleidoscope; I tend to travel through the multiverse and perform experiments that interest me from time to time.
In my latest one, I was attempting to contain a large amount of my own unique magic into a container that I wanted to throw at Odin for a prank when my concentration slipped as I was thinking about his wife's…. well, what I was thinking about doesn't matter.
Before I could regain control, I accidentally caused a multiversal explosion, propelling me through a few planes of existence until I landed in yours and accidentally killed you by landing on you. Don't worry; I was uninjured in the landing.
I thank you for cushioning my fall."}
".…really?"
{"Moving on, after discovering your noble sacrifice, I decided to try and repay you, but it seemed my experiment's explosion caused my magic to protect my body, and when I landed on you, my magic affected your soul as your body died."}
Jin's brow twitched at calling his death 'noble.'
{"Still, karma demanded repayment, and I chased your soul on its journey to the afterlife, but I marveled at what I discovered, you weren't going to the afterlife at all!"}
Jin raised a finger with mixed feelings. 'Is that supposed to make me feel better?'
{"You are…. incredibly lucky!"}
".…Fuck you too buddy."
{"Don't look down on luck, my young friend. The chances of what I discovered happening are so small this screen couldn't even display the actual percentage of the number involved.
You see, there cannot be two holders of a True Magic at the same time. It goes against fundamental laws.
But that doesn't matter now!
In my failure of an experiment, the energy from the second true magic seeped into your soul, and instead of eradicating you, it changed you!"}
He paused to sip some tea quite loudly as if he wasn't leaving Jin on a cliffhanger. "I will find a way to punch you, old man."
{"I have effectively and accidentally created a being who is temporarily a user of the second true magic.
I'm a genius.}
'And a troll.'
{You, young lad, are an incomplete user of the second true magic. I say incomplete because you have no understanding of the true magic and absolutely no control over said magic.
When you died, the magic grasped onto the stronger desires of your mind, which were filled with fantasy concepts from your world's fiction. Such memories were preserved while things farther from your desires were shattered.
It's a miracle I could save what I did of your mind in the first place. In time, more may return to you, but that must rely on your own fate.
The magic tied to your soul is completely out of my control and will never stop until the magic runs its course. You will never be able to use it like I can. With that said, until the magic in your soul runs out, you will be capable of lesser multiversal travel!"}
'Kinda morbid but not a terrible thing.'
{With or without your input.}
'And he's still a dick.'
{The magic will continue to send you into various worlds based on your fiction interests for various pockets of time until you gain control, and after you gain control, you will only be able to go back or forward, but with control of the time spent in each world."}
Jin hit the pause button and hummed thoughtfully at that. "Alright, this guys a troll, but all things considered, it's not a terrible situation." He stood up to walk around while increasing the volume so he could listen as he looked around. Staring at Zelretch's face as he trolled him wasn't attractive.
{"So there's good news and bad news.
Bad news, you died and can never return to your former universe until you gain control of the magic in your soul.
Good news, you were an orphan without many friends, and your original world is incredibly dull. I checked.
Bad news, your original body was squashed like a tomato.
Good news, I gifted you a homunculus body!
Bad news, the time you spend in new worlds will be completely random until you gain control.
Good news, you get to explore many new worlds!
Bad news, you can still die in these worlds.
Good news, you can gain powers from these worlds!"}
Jin just sighed and ignored the fucker. The guy was milking this for all it was worth. He knocked on a wall of the warehouse-style room and heard it ring like a metal shutter.
{"It's exciting, no? In truth, I took a look at your past and saw how dreadfully bored you were, so where's the harm in some risky adventure, right?
You lost your old life, memories, and body and are being sent through worlds that once fascinated you against your will without being able to guide where you go, but it's not all that bad."}
"Pep talk is going great old man. You should be a boy scout counselor."
{"You get to experience some of what has always been a unique ability of mine.
It might have been an accident, but you would be a Kohai or little brother to me on the path of multiverse travel.
I honestly don't know how to replicate the effect of what I did to you by accident, but even then, I want to see if you are worthy of the title of being my little brother.
Therefore, I'm giving you a few tests."}
Jin froze in his walk and thought about that for less than half a second. ' …. I would like to pass. Please ignore my existence.'
Zelretch smiled into the camera as if he heard Jin's thoughts.
{"Ha, you're probably seeing my point of view now."}
'No, no I am not.'
{"Each world is unique with different laws, and even with my magic acting like a master key to enter these worlds, there is only so much I can help you with.
What you can gain from the worlds you end up in will be limited as the world itself will suppress foreign entities.
I've given you three things to help you on your journey as gifts from me to repay you. If you survive, I would be delighted to enjoy some tea and talk about our experiences."}
Jin sighed and accepted his fate. He could use all the help he could get at the moment.
{" The first gift is your own personal pocket dimension. It's the space you're currently inside. Let's call it a warehouse, for simplicity's sake. Or perhaps an inventory if you prefer game terms.
I built it as a travel instrument for you between dimensions. There are beings in the void between worlds that frankly would make you go insane on sight. This method will shield and hide you.}
Jin took a second look at the walls around him. He didn't feel as safe anymore.
{The warehouse is anchored to your soul; it will form around you automatically between worlds. However, I set a list of restrictions to make sure you don't abuse it.
1.1: This is a storage space, not an active magic you can use for combat. Therefore, if you are in direct danger, you will be unable to enter or place anything inside until sixty seconds have passed outside of danger. You may still remove things during combat.
1.2: The iPad is your only key to this space. Further functions are available in the settings app.
1.3: You can only place items you actually own inside. I'm not enabling a thief who can't steal correctly. If an object has the energy of another inside, you must purge it before you can claim it.
1.4: You can only put things inside by touching them with your hands.
1.5: The space is limited, and any item you take out will be within 5 feet of you, so no storing a giant boulder just to remove it out and drop it on your enemy unless you want to go splat. Again.
1.6: There is no mental inventory list; you need to physically find it through the inventory application on the iPad.
1.7: You cannot bring anything larger than the doorway inside the storage space. The entrance is always set to twice the size of your human body in height and width.
1.8: And finally, when you're in a new world, you won't be able to physically enter the space as you like. You will only be able to access it as an inventory. I set it up this way so you don't turtle up and hide away, as that would be quite a boring adventure.
Once a month, you may enter for a collective total of 48 hours. The time ratio is set to 1:10, meaning 48 hours inside will equal 4.8 hours outside. The timer resets on the first of every month, with no stacking time.
And as a personal gift from me, every New Year, your time is extended to two weeks of inventory time for the month of January."}
Jin processed all of that and looked at the space around him with more respect. 'There are plenty of restrictions but none of them are unreasonable. It seems he just wanted to remove all the broken aspects of an Inventory to make things less boring. An adventure should have some risk no?' He smiled at the thought and felt happier about it.
{"The second gift is much simpler. It's your body.
The homunculus body I made will be able to adapt to any world you enter, and whatever ability you gain will flawlessly blend into the body without any incompatibility.
Don't look down on this ability; most worlds will actively fight to erase intruders, and while my magic lets you enter each world, this body will let you retain whatever you gain from them instead of having it ripped away from you when you leave the world."}
Jin looked down at his hands and flexed them slightly. 'Huh, I never thought about things like that. Thanks old man.'
{"And the final gift. This iPad.
Frankly, it's one of the more unique items I've made. I advise you to consider it your holy grail for the foreseeable future. I tied it into the magic that seeped into your soul.
It's basically your terminal.
What it can do is:
3.1: Tell you what world you're going to next.
3.2: Keep track of the seven-dimension coordinates of the worlds you go to. Allowing you to go back if you find more ways to travel worlds.
3.3: Be the car key to your warehouse.
3.4: Allow you to customize what you receive from worlds.
3.5: Tells the time.
To break that down for you. It tells you where you go. It's the guide to go back to worlds you have already been to instead of a parallel dimension. It's the key to your warehouse and Inventory. And it tells the time.
It's also pretty durable, although I don't advise hitting things with it. If it breaks, you're screwed."}
Jin sweat dropped at that. 'Right, don't break it.'
{"Like I said before, you're limited since you don't actually have my magic. So when you enter a world, you won't be able to receive all the benefits of a homegrown soul. Individual items that can enhance you are fair game.
But what you can gain from each world are all different in quantity and quality. The iPad will quantify those choices and present them to you before you enter each world. Beware that your choice is permanent and can alter you physically or mentally.
You can treat it as if you are receiving credits to spend in each world upon entry, but once inside the world, you cannot spend anything more, and anything not spent on entry is wasted.
Quite the useful gifts, no? If I didn't go through all this, you would be randomly assigned abilities when you land in a random world and have no control over 'when' you land. You can thank me later."}
Having walked back over to the iPad, he hit the pause button to digest that.
Basically, he received a gamer's body with only a single life, a warehouse/inventory space with a time ratio, and an iPad that acts like a terminal from those Jumpchain fanfics. He thought deeply about it for a full minute before nodding. '…. I regret nothing.'
He hit the play button.
{"Now for the last part, my tests for you.
One of the apps you will find on this iPad is a messenger app that is currently connected to me. I want you to survive three worlds to prove to me that you have the potential to reach a higher level.
That's your first test. From there, I'll assign you random quests to challenge and reward you based on how you do.
And remember, while I can assist you if you need help, I believe in equivalent exchange. I helped you this time because I killed you, and I was very interested in what happened to you, but next time, you will need to give me something in exchange for anything you wish from me.
I neither have the time nor the interest to travel to every possible reality to search for things, so I'm sure you will come across something that can interest me in a trade.
If you pass all my tests, I'll actually accept you as my little brother and be much more willing to help you and play an active role.
I genuinely wish to have someone to be able to converse with about this way of life, so please survive and grow stronger!
I hope to hear from you soon, young Jin.
Best of luck."}
And with that final note, the video ended, and the screen dimmed back to its original setting.
Jin stared at it absentmindedly, dozens of thoughts flowing through his head as he finished digesting everything.
Was he angry he died? Not really; he didn't feel like he missed out on much. If he was an orphan like Zelretch had said, he had no family waiting for him. He had nothing to return to, and he felt a certain feeling inside him.
Less of a memory and more of a certainty.
He had been bored, soul-deep boredom. He craved adventure and amusement. The magic in his soul grabbed onto the fantasy elements of his mind above everything else because it was the strongest emotion he had.
Jin wasn't even annoyed at basically having no control of his situation, being pulled to worlds and basically told to survive. It sounded fun. Like being told he was going to an amusement park. It sure beats sitting inside an office cubical for nine hours a day in a tight suit.
'This is basically one of those Jumpchain stories I read before, except my 'Jump-Chan' is an immortal multiversal vampire troll. Not the worst way this could have gone.'
He held his chin and hummed at that. He was sure the old man would try to fuck with him along the way, but he would endure. Endure and get petty revenge one day. 'Ha, let's see if I can out prank the emperor of pranksters.'
The thought was pushed aside with a chuckle as he sat down with crossed legs and brought the iPad closer to get a handle on things. 'Let's see what I'm working with here.'
"Pictures, music, sending multiversal messages, huh, a minesweeper app, good taste. It's pretty standard."
He clicked on the music app and blinked at the list of songs. A note on the side caught his eye and made him smile. "Hey, this is pretty cool; it can play any song from my memory." His finger hit a Lofi soundtrack, and he let it play as he kept looking.
There were plenty of standard apps on the thing, but eventually, he narrowed things down to five app icons that stood out and put them on the home screen.
[Inventory], [World Info], [Status], [Settings], and [World Power Selection].
[Inventory] showed a list of everything inside the space with tabs to specify what he was looking for. He was currently shown under the 'Living Creatures' tab.
[World Info] shared what world he was entering, how much time he had in the world, recorded the dimensional anchors, and told him what his background setting would be after he entered a world.
'Oh, I can toggle the timer onto the main screen.' A separate digital clock appeared in the corner under the time of day that was currently paused.
[Status] showed his name, age, and abilities.
{Status:
Name: Jin ?
Age: 17
Abilities: N/A }
'Hm, seems I'm currently seventeen years old. Yay, puberty….' He wasn't looking forward to it again. The missing last name was clear, but he left it alone for the time being.
[Settings] allowed him to toggle different settings of the iPad, notifications, and alerts. 'Hm, there's a size alteration option. Wait, what exactly is getting its size altered?'
There were four options: iPad, iPhone, Watch, and hands-free.
Shrugging, he clicked on iPhone. The next second, the iPad shrunk to a small iPhone size. '… ok, this is really cool.'
He spent a solid five minutes just altering the size for fun.
Watch turned it into a watch with a touch screen, and hands-free made it vanish into a small apple tattoo on his palm. Small enough to be unnoticed.
The watch could also be altered in design, and he set it to a silver back with a black metallic strap.
The tattoo would be helpful for keeping the device out of harm's way. 'Oh good, if the iPad is more than ten feet away from my body, it automatically enters tattoo mode. Useful.'
[World Power Selection] was the most interesting. According to its basic information, it would activate upon entry to any world with his 'credits' or 'options' for powers he could choose from.
That was all it had; it was pretty cut and dry for how interesting it all was. Just as he finished exploring the iPad, the walls around him began shaking slightly, and the notification alert on his iPad rang out.
[World Info] was automatically opened.
[First world reached!
World: Harry Potter
Timeline options: 1942, 1971, 1991, 1994
Time in world: One Year
Please choose a timeline.}
Jin raised a brow at the information. 'Harry Potter? This should be fun.'
He mentally went over each timeline option. '91 is Harry's first year. 94 would then be Tri-Wizard year. 42 should be toward the end of WW2. And 71…. I guess that's the marauder years? Heh, having Sirius as a friend would be fun.'
He spent a few minutes going over each option before deciding to take the cautious route. 'This is my first world, and I currently have no powers. I know much more about 91 and 94 than the other two options.
91 was Harry's first year, so it should also be the one least dangerous plot-wise, but then again, I'm not exactly eleven years old. There's also the fact that 94 would have everyone entirely focused on the tournament and ignoring everything else. If I went to Hogwarts, 91 would give me much less freedom to move around. 94 it is.'
He made up his mind quickly and clicked the option.
The application closed at his touch, and [World Power Selection] automatically opened.
The screen went dark for a moment, and Jin worriedly tapped the screen. 'Oi, don't glitch on me now.'
[CHOOSE YOUR POWER!] "Motherfucker!"
Massive blood-red words popped out from the black screen and made him drop the device with a flinch as dramatic lightning strike sounds played at max volume. He stared at the screen for a long moment as his heart pounded before laughter bubbled inside him. "Well played, old man. Fuck, that scared the crap out of me."
He shook his head with a smile and went on.

"Alright….no shame in hitting the question mark."
Thankfully, the app gave him some information on each part.
Main abilities were things that some people are born within the world that he could gain upon entry. If there was only one option, he would have to choose it. Other examples would be Haki in One Piece, Nen in Hunter x Hunter, and Midichlorians in Star Wars.
His choice was permanent, and depending on what he chose, the power could alter him physically. The idea of [Goblin magic] wasn't very appealing after learning that, he didn't want to look like one of them.
'[Goblin Magic] has a focus toward enchanting and transfiguration. [Centaur Magic] has a focus on Divination and Nature magic. [Dwarven Magic]? Each of these paths have specialties aside from [Wizard Magic] which is stable all around. It might be cool to get some race specific boons, but I don't want to risk having a non-humanoid base species change my physiology. And most magical species weren't even able cast magic by wizarding law in canon. Best to stick to what works.'
Branches were where he could specify his specialty. Just because he chose [Wizard Magic] wouldn't make the world give him the benefit a homegrown soul had. He could only get a slice of the pie, not all of it. He had to specify what slice he wanted. He would be incapable of using any branch he didn't choose.
On the upside, the specialty he did choose would give him a very high talent for the specific branch he decided on. Whichever branch he chose would have a 2x multiplier for learning speed and practical aptitude.
Electives were where he could specialize. They highlighted the main areas of his Branch path and gave him the option to choose one to be better than the rest in with a 5x multiplier.
Choosing one would not close off the other options for electives from him in real life, but the other branches were still unavailable.
On the other hand, he could choose no Elective and increase the base 2x multiplier for charms to 3x.
Extras were only options for him thanks to his homunculus body that allowed for rapid adaption.
"Ok, so I need to make a choice and stick with it. Think in Skyrim terms Jin. Whats my playstyle going to be?"
He went over all of them and had a few things he wanted. "Charms are the most versatile while Transfiguration is the most direct and consequential but quite limited.
Dark Arts are the most deadly but they are really only helpful in harming things. Not much practical use.
Legilimency could be powerful, but I have little information on how far it can go. Would it be Xavier's levels of power or Voldemort? Occlumency is similar there. I'm not very into the idea of being a psychic.
Divination is often undersold. Best girl Luna was able to rock it, but I'm not sure I want to focus my talents there alone.
And finally, Potions are more versatile than charms and could do incredible things, but that also requires quite a few extra steps. Not sure I want to commit to that."
He went over each one from a dozen angles and finally made his choice after thinking about it for close to an hour.
"Charms has to be my first choice. If I had been to another world first and gained a different power first, I might think differently but with nothing else to my name, charms just has the most versatility."
Charms had an incredibly versatile assortment of spells that could be used in situations from comfort, combat, healing, wards, and more.
The electives came on next. Many of the original options greyed out with his choice of Main and Branch choices.
[Arithmancy], [Wards], [Healing], [Combat].
The four options were what he could choose from, and since he could still learn the rest with time, he wanted to pick the one that could help him the most in the short term.
"Arithmancy is actually kind of interesting. It's often overlooked, but according to this, choosing the option would give me an enhanced ability to understand, create, or combine existing charms depending on what area I lean more strongly to.
Wards would focus my talent on area of effect spells that could be made semi-permanent as well as breaking through wards.
Healing would increase my talent with all forms of healing charms, and it would even start me off with a real healing charm, that's kind of cool.
And Combat would make me a combat prodigy with charms in spell power, mana pool, spell casting speed, etc."
Every option was seriously considered but since he only had a single year in the world of Harry Potter, he had to choose the one that could help him most in both the short term and long term.
"In the short term [Combat] sounds the best, I can learn a basic charm and adapt it to combat easily, but there is a hard limit I'll eventually hit. On the other hand, I could just train my ability to use it through time and effort just as well. And what exactly am I going to be fighting in my time there? Should fighting be my focus from the start?"
He shook his head at that and crossed it off.
"[Arithmancy] might be the strongest long term wise. I could learn the basic math behind each charm and figure out how to combine charms. There are only so many spells charms that existed in the first place."
He felt good about that option but kept going.
"[Healing] is OP but the world has all kinds of potions that I can use in the short term. While the idea of being able to rapidly heal my muscles with a snap of my fingers is appealing, I can always reach that level in the future and rely on potions for the moment."
He crossed it off the list.
"[Wards] is honestly often overlooked. Its basically just taking any charm and making it an area of effect style. I could increase gravity for training or attacking. I could make a healing area to heal myself passively. I could set alarms and make things invisible. The limits are only as far as I have spells to use. And if I tie the spell to a separate power source like a ward-stone, I could make the effect semi-permanent. Not to mention there are plenty of places with wards I could break into. Although again, I only have one year."
He hesitated before striking it off.
"Finally, I could just choose nothing and get the 3x multiplier for Charms in general without a specialization."
Each option was appealing for its own reasons, and he hesitated for over thirty minutes before the room shook slightly, and the timer on the screen showed he had less than twenty minutes to finish his choices.
'Damn, I got lost in thought. If I get more powers from other worlds, I need them to blend well with my existing abilities to get the most out of them.'
He made his choice and selected [Arithmancy]. He wanted the long-term benefit and could think of a dozen ways to abuse it in the short term.
The screen flashed with his choice, and the Extra's came up.
[Magic Resistance], [Parseltounge], [Ligimens], [Occumens], [Animagus], [Metamorph (3)], [The Sight (2)].
He deadpanned at the greyed-out [Veela Charm]. 'I guess Veela Charm was female only, so no male Veela's? Would have been cool to have an Incubus Charm or something.'
He had three credits and seven options. There were dozens of others greyed out, but with his choices so far, this is what he had.
"I'm taking out [Metamorph] and [The Sight] without hesitation. Each one is overpowered but require more than one credit. It's not worth the price when I can use the others more."
That left [Magic Resistance], [Parseltongue], [Ligimens], [Occumens], and [Animagus].
Unlike the electives, not choosing one would not mean he could still learn it later. He had no ability with Transfiguration, meaning if he didn't choose [Animagus], he would never be able to use it.
'I really want an animal form though. Fuck it, this is supposed to be fun so why not.' The very forces of reality enforced the option. Or that's how he mentally justified it as he clicked on [Animagus].
'I'm gonna toss [Ligimens]. Again, I have no idea how far I could take it, but more than that, attacking mentally isn't my style. I don't think it's compatible with my personality.' It was a simple reason, but Jin decided to follow his gut and remove it.
That left him with two credits to spend on three options. He debated on them for nearly fifteen minutes in indecision.
"[Parseltounge] just has too many uses. The basic stuff of opening the chamber so I can get that Basilisk corpse and hopefully anything else hidden down there is a given.
I could also talk to and control snakes, empower spells, and who knows what else." He felt it was right, and the additional thought of having a vibrating sex tool for a tongue pushed him over the line as he chose it.
That left [Occumens] and [Magic Resistance].
He felt the choice was obvious but hesitated. "I'm only assuming I know what [Occumens] can do for me, but [Magic Resistance] is exactly what it says. The details say, 'Gain the skin resistance of a giant, 5x multiplication to base magic resistance,' which means it will grow as I do.
Not to mention wizards are naturally magic resistant as it was. At five times the base of an adult wizard, I could just stand there as five grown adults launched stunners at me unaffected."
He turned to [Occumens].
"On the other hand, the only thing I'm told here is that it gives me an inborn talent to organize and defend my mind. That has a great deal of benefits, mental defenses are always important, but out of the two options, I feel like there are other ways to gain that defense."
He was indecisive, one was a transparent boost, and the other was a gamble. Long term, both were powerful.
The following shake of the room included the floor, and Jin lost his balance for a moment in surprise, the iPad slipping from his fingers. "Shit!" Long-standing instincts not to drop his phone came into play and made him forget it wasn't a regular iPad as he fumbled with the thing. His finger scratched the screen in the process, and an option was chosen just as the timer reached sixty seconds.
When he looked back at the screen, the application was already closed, and the timer was flashing red. "Fuck, I don't know what I clicked!"
A beam of light shot out of the iPad before he could re-open the app and hit the wall of the warehouse, creating a swirling door of light just as the speakers on the iPad went off in the voice of god.
[Go toward the light.]
Jin rolled his eyes and stood up. 'Really? Morgan Freeman?' He thought the joke was a bit tasteless but couldn't fault Zelretch for it.
The iPad was switched to watch form as he approached the door and looked into it. The colorful swirl gave him flashbacks to the moment of his death, and he could help but wince. 'I really hope I don't get PTSD for rainbows. Think of what the unicorns will say.'
He chuckled and stepped into the light, only for his face to smash into a solid surface and a buzzer sound to ring out. "Ow."
He peeled himself off the door and held his bloody nose. "What the fuck man?"
The door formed words before his eyes.
[Choose starting location~. XD]
Jin felt a vein throb on his forehead. "The smiley face was unnecessary!" He kicked the solid door and answered at the same time. "The Leaky Cauldron."
What Jin didn't realize was that his foot was still touching the door as he spoke. A slight tug was his only warning before he got sucked into the door like a pool noddle as he screamed and bashed his head on the floor.
Jin's last sight was the words on the door from the other side.
[Choice made. Please proceed and enjoy your trip! ;)]
