This is a third attempt to make a completed Little King's Story fanfiction.
The main character is going to be called Marco Scheffler. With this out of the way, let's begin.
Chapter 1
I had quite the long night after completing a very hard task. Which task was this? It was doing a speed run of Little King's Story, which was a game that I loved despite it having a few flaws. And sure, my time was not nearly as good as others on the site, but I still felt proud that I was tied in 100th place with a couple others. Top 100 was good to achieve for me when it came to speedruns. So, I simply fell asleep after, knowing that it was a good night of playing games.
But for those who are curious, my name is Marco Scheffler, a 26-year-old man with a job at the Goodwill and lover of niche franchises. But despite this, I was still the smallest of my coworkers at 5 foot 1 and I needed help to lift heavy items because of this. But I was still good at what I did, making my pay go up every third of the year.
My appearance was oddly similar to Corobo in the game, but if he had 2 hit points left. I had a beard-mustache combo that went around my lips (which I shaved off because of the weather getting hotter) and the color was orange-brown, like I was half ginger and half brown hair. And currently, the beard was clipped off, but the hairs were beginning to regrow slightly. And my face even looked like the little king, minus the beard hair and me having green eyes instead of brown.
Regardless, I slept very well... and then, I woke up. And when I did, I looked around and instantly knew that something wasn't right. Why? Because I was NOT in my own room right now!" In fact, it looked an awful lot like the bedroom that Corobo had in the cutscenes of the game's start!
"What the hell?!" I asked in shock before something else happened. Out of bloody nowhere, my feet started to move out of the bed and run out of the house, moving my arms as needed! "AAAHHHH!" I shouted in shock as I then saw two different people outside. Two people that looked like young adult versions of Liam and Verde... in realistic graphics?!
"Hey, Corobo! Where are you going?" Verde asked.
"Help me! I can't stop myself!" I shouted at them, the duo then chasing after me as I tried to grab my hands to my legs and only got a sore arm and a hurt muscle from it moving at the speeds my feet were! I ran the whole way into the nearby woods without stopping! I then heard the voice of Howser as I saw him next to a boulder, one that had been freshly demolished. And inside was the crown of the game! And my feet did not stop moving until they bowled over Howser and my hands forced me to grab the crown all on their own!
"I say! What is going on right now? That crown wasn't there before!" Howser gawked in surprise as my hands then placed the crown on top of my head... and I gawked at how, afterwards, I heard a voice.
"Sorry for that, mister... I'll explain when Verde and Liam catch up," said a voice that sounded like Corobo did in the cutscenes, it being like a little grade schooler.
"Corobo! What in the world happened back there? And... wait... when did you start shaving?" Verde asked when she saw my face, me looking at her and then at Howser... and then the crown spoke again.
"He's uh, not Corobo. I am," said whatever was in the crown on my head, me gulping at him doing that as I looked at the trio and simply shrugged my shoulders. What I really wanted to do was wake the hell up from this weird dream.
"But why does he look like you, minus the shaving thing?" Liam asked. And each of them had the same voices they did in the game, just speaking English instead of simlish.
"I don't know, but I know that for some reason I wake up in this crown and find my old body is currently replaced with this man, named Marco Scheffler. He's basically me, but from a different universe, that much is the only thing I know of," Corobo said in the crown as I then looked at the trio and then looked at Howser specifically, as he looked at me in confusion.
"Could it be... you may be the king I have searched for?" he asked, me looking at him in confusion.
"I don't know. Why don't you say what you're really thinking right now?" I asked... and shortly after, the trio then spoke at the same time.
"I think you look like royalty with that crown!" is what Howser said.
"This is the weirdest thing that's ever happened around here, and that's saying something!" Liam said.
"I hate that Corobo is trapped in that crown! I want to hug him, not some lookalike!" Verde shouted.
And when they all shouted what they felt in their heads, they then gasped and looked at each other with blush, but Verde's was even more so.
"What just happened?" Corobo asked for me.
"I think that the crown you're in makes it so that anyone can follow any orders spoken by the one who wears it! Maybe we should test this with the big one," Howser said as I looked at Liam and he pouted.
"I'm Liam, not the big one," he frowned as I then took the crown off my head and tried to put it onto Liam's head, but what resulted was that the crown simply hovered off of Liam's head automatically and falling down on the ground.
"Well, that's weird... maybe I can try it out," Verde frowned as she then tried on the crown... and color us suprised at how Verde was able to put it on her head with no ill effects!
"Corobo? Do you know whose head you're on now?" I asked him.
"Yeah, Verde's. So... does this technically count as a hug?" he asked, which Verde blushed at after and then took the crown in her hands.
"We need to find a way to get him out of this crown, for sure," Verde frowned.
"Well, before we can do that, I do believe I have found not only the true king, but also a queen to go with him!" Howser smiled widely before then mounting his trusty steer in Pancho and holding his spear high. "We must let the masses know that we are going to become an independent nation! I must know your names and what the kingdom's name must be!" Howser spoke with pride in his olden voice.
And the group of us were left a bit concerned at his words. "Um, my name is Marco... I guess this girl is called Verde, this is Liam, and the one in the crown on my head is Corobo... right?" I asked. I was bluffing it big time, though, since I knew all of this already, even to the point of doing a spare thing to hack the game's code during downtime on my computer to try and make a true ending to the game after the final boss. But it was a slow process, since I needed to translate the different codes into English, as each were originally in Japanese.
"Right... anyways, this sounds like something cool! What do you say, guys?" Corobo asked as Verde frowned.
"I'm sorry, I don't see how you being trapped in a crown is seen as 'cool'," Verde pouted in annoyance.
"Well, even so, if we do go through with this and we expand our word far and wide, we're sure to find at least SOMEONE who could let me out of this crown, right? And when that happens, I'll happily be the prince as opposed to king," Corobo said, me smiling at that as I then gently recieved the crown from Verde and smiled.
"Just for that, how about we leave the naming of the kingdom to you, Corobo?" I asked, him smirking at that.
"Really?... Hmm... How about Alpoko?" he smirked.
"What does Alpoko mean, though?" Liam asked.
"It's my small game world that I used to play with all the time when I was younger," Corobo smirked.
"Oh, you mean the one that got eaten by rats?" Verde asked, me smacking my face internally at that, as I didn't want to let them in on anything.
"Don't remind me, I had to rebuild all of it, which is how I came up with some new things in the story, but it just made me realize the original wasn't as good as it could've been," Corobo frowned as I then looked at Howser with seriousness as he looked to be getting antsy, same with Pancho.
"So, Alpoko Kingdom then?" I asked.
"Yeah, can it be called Alpoko?"
"The name is set. We ready to go, old man?" I asked, him nodding at that.
"Indeed! And to get introductions out of the way, I am Howser, the Bull Knight! I have been waiting for the true king for many years, and now, we can finally bring you to the masses as the true king! Let's be off, Pancho!" Howser chortled as his steer then mooed in response and we then followed after the duo back to the town, me knowing that it was going to be the original area of the game, it being the basics. But there wer two things I had to ask myself as we ran down through the wooded trail.
"Why did I get sent here? And why did I get put in Corobo's place instead of being my own self?"
