The Coming Storms
"The boy is just some normal 15 year-old human kid living in that primitive human town ,called Wahington, I think. His human school scores are only slightly better than average and not by much he lives with his parents and a younger brother in a normal house. He is a coward and un— are you even listening to me Merlin?!" cried a woman with strange pointed ears in her late 30s wearing a light green robe while tapping her emerald tipped staff on the ground trying to catch the attention of the man she was shouting at.
While her staff passed right through the ground, her incessant shouting did cause the older man identifying as Merlin to steal a glance at his irritated companion.
"Unfortunately yes Manisha, your shouting makes it quite hard. And it will not deter me regardless of what you and others opinions. This boy is the perfect candidate to bear the mark and despite your grievances I am the only one who can choose who it is." retorted the much older man in slightly more worn out dark blue robes. Curiously made up of stone.
"Still it should be someone who has magical knowledge and power; there are even some among humans that have them. Why pick someone ignorant of our world?" asked the younger wizard.
"It is precisely the reason I picked him,he has the potential you must trust my judgment." replied the other older one.
Alvin Oaks High School,Washington DC
Outside the school of Alvin Oaks, students were entering a bus along with the boy of whom the two wizards were talking about; he was of course unaware of the conversation.
His mind was on other matters, still ones important. His face was scrunched up in a frown and for a good reason.
You see, unknown to anyone, Andrew wasn't originally from this universe coming from our own; as such he was wary for every superhero cartoon he had seen, field trips always resulted in a supervillain attack .He hadn't figured out anyone in his class or school for that matter to be a meta but he didn't like taking his chances after all other schools might be present. In recent years many meta-humans had risen, some taking the path of good, some crime and some came in between, this was in addition to the non-superhumans to take up vigilantism.
As such his fears were well founded, unfortunately his parents forced him into attending the trip ; saying it would be memorable and exciting and he should spend time with his peers. Yeah, getting killed by a spandex wearing idiot would be memorable and exciting. As for spending time with his peers? It wasn't really their fault but he hated their naive and romanticizing view of being a hero.
"Hey Morgan ;you should really stop frowning and put on a smile , people might think we torture you kids." Our gym teacher Coach Metty said with his usual boisterous voice putting him out of his thoughts. If the Coach knew his thoughts he would probably call his parents or the school counselor, probably both.
He just threw an unimpressed look and boarded the bus.
Washington Museum of Artifacts
Reaching the museum full of potentially magical and dangerous artifacts made him more worrisome than he already was . Around the museum there were normal things like old weapons and pots, along with some weird objects like orbs with eyes in the middle and some strange green cheat chest with ridged edges these items unlike the previous ones emitted a dark and weird aura; but he wasn't sure if it was real or he was just paranoid.
"Where's this one from?""Ignore him, tell me about this one.""No mine!" several voices cried out in a ruckus. He looked over to some school kids his age crowding around a blonde girl while pointing and almost touching to various objects present in the museum.(Yeah he definitely wasn't worried about them awakening some ancient demon or something)
However the more he looked at the group he felt he knew the girl somehow, something about her felt familiar. The other students and teachers were also gawking , as in their experience they hadn't found any kids so interested in history.
The teens felt that eyes were on them and went somewhere else in the building with apologetic looks thrown at everyone. He narrowed his eyes, he had definitely seen them before and almost thought about following them when a sudden to tingle overcame him.
He looked around for some source before feeling it being stronger in a certain direction, the end of his eyes met a large red curtain hiding something important. According to the sign it was a sword that was recently found in a swamp. Apparently inside the trunk of a large tree. Preparations for its exhibition were still underway and there was still some research done to find out its origin.
'Well it wouldn't hurt to look after all nobody was there to guard it. And it would be just a peek and he would be out.' He thought, against probably better judgment.
He went inside silently and looked around in the dark before finding the glowing rune-engraved sword. It was a steel-like bronze colour with lightning blue engravings on it which glowed faintly.
As he was examining it he heard an explosion and a loud crash outside. The red curtains behind him and two ominous figures emerged. The figures revealed themselves to be large green ork-like creatures with red gleaming eyes.
Few minutes earlier
Many eyes turned to gawk at the strange
a man wearing a tophat that covered his gray eyes along with an was walking through the museum with an air that signified purpose. His clothes would peg him as a man of mild temper but his dangerous gray eye's quickly dispelled that thought.
He marched forward as if he was magnetically drawn in by something not even bothering to notice the people staring at him. He at last reached his destination this exhibition consisted of objects whose period wasn't yet known and thus were put here until it was found out.
He came to a glass- enclosed pendant. It has a cone shaped emerald emerald as its focus.
"Can I help you sir?" An employee asked politely.
The strange man did not even notice, only smirking slightly before touching the enclosure. Before the employee could tell him that was not allowed the glass burst into pink flames pushing the worker away. The man took the pendant admiring it. As he turned to leave however a blond girl stopped him. The W on her shirt signified her as Wonder Girl.
"Going so soon? Not on my watch.I don't know who you are and why you want that but I ain't gonna wait around to find out." Said the teen.
The man just recited some spells under his breath, the consequence of which produced pink smoke from which many creatures came out. Using them as a distraction he fled.
'Dammit, there were too many monsters and it would be hard saving the civilians. Add to that her friends wouldn't reach in time if she called.' she thought angrily as she punched a big red bat-like thing to the ground. It immediately burst into smoke.
