Chapter 1

"I'm going all in." Kiba pushed all his remaining chips to the center.

"You're going to lose, man," Shikamaru muttered, taking another sip from his whiskey.

"We'll see," is all Kiba said, sticking his tongue out in concentration, eyes serious and focused on his cards.

Our blond couldn't care less. He was no longer playing anyway, having lost one round before.

And Kiba was to lose soon enough if he didn't hide that false confidence of his, plastered on his face. He was playing against Neji after all, his all-seeing eyes already calculating how much time his opponent would last against him.

The blond took a sip of his own drink, other thoughts playing on his mind right now. Thoughts that irritated him, making him doubt his own decisions.

And he was never one to doubt himself.

But seeing her…

She was tempting him, and she knew it.

Looking all cute and sexy in her little orange satin dress and those nude heels which made her 10 centimeters taller than she actually was. Her long hair fell in waves over her back like a waterfall, her ruby-red lips ready to be kissed by him and only him.

And that damn color.

Of all the ones existing, she had to pick out his favorite.

Was that the so-called revenge dress? If yes, she managed, as always, to get her revenge.

That trick always worked on him, and she knew it.

She couldn't but be aware of his eyes not once straying from her, he told himself.

She must've known and he hated it.

Never losing sight of her ambling, walking around while chit-chatting with random guests, seeming all innocent with those big doe-like eyes, her spell working its usual magic.

She knew he was taking every inch of her in, from her cute little tippy toes to her gorgeous face with those luscious pink lips and those even prettier eyes.

His hazy baby blues strayed to her round ass and stayed there for a while longer than they should have.

She wanted him to watch her, long for her, need her but he wouldn't fall for her games. They were playing it for far too long and he wasn't about to give in.

Hinata Hyuga was a devious little thing and clearly, he was glad they were over.

He wouldn't get tempted by her this time. She could fool their peers all she wanted, but not him. If one person knew her like the back of his hand, then it was her recent ex-boyfriend aka Namikaze Naruto aka him.

"Ignore her," her brother muttered under his breath, breaking him out of his thoughts. If Naruto hadn't known Neji all his life, he would've never thought the Hyuga heir was actually talking to him, appearing solely concentrated on the game before him. "She knows what she's doing."

Naruto could only acknowledge that with a grunt because he knew just as well.

She liked that. Loved that even. Knowing she had his full attention. Knowing that he was boiling because of her. Anger and lust combined all for just her.

It was maddening that her little person could do this to him. Though just like he knew her like the back of his hand, she knew him in and out just as well and knew which cards to play to get to him.

"How long?" Shikamaru nudged him, handing him the cigar he was smoking. The blond accepted it and took a long drag before releasing the smoke into the air.

"How long what?" he asked, very well aware of what his friend was implying.

"How long until you snap."

How long? Well, that was a question he was also asking himself. It solely depended on her behavior and how far she'd go.

"I'm not taking her back if that's what you're implying," he said after a while.

Shikamaru let out a low chuckle and the blond could hear the eye roll without having to look at him.

Again, he couldn't care less.

He saw her smile her pretty smile at a blond man that wasn't him. A man with a pretty face whom he met on several occasions beforehand. He never seemed interesting enough to even acknowledge his presence, boring to the core.

Why would she be nice to a guy like that?

Simply because she was Hinata and she couldn't but be all sweet and nice to people who'd never give her an ounce of what he'd give her.

She was really provoking him, to top it off. And her eyes straying to him as she did so was just the proof he dearly needed to know what she was up to.

Yes, she was doing all that for him to notice her.

And she did a great fucking job at it.

That could even draw a smile on his face if it weren't for the guy looking at her with hearts in his eyes.

"That's what they always say," was all Shikamaru answered, leaning back on his leather armchair.

The man was touching her arm with his dirty hand, and Naruto knew what he was trying to do but it wouldn't work on her because she was his and only his.

No one but himself had the honor of touching her body until now and that wasn't about to change.

She looked at him for the second time that night, that small grin plastered on her plump lips, looking all lovely even though the meaning behind it was everything but. It was mocking him and no one else could've known except him.

She excused herself, showing her dimples to that man that wasn't worthy of even getting a glimpse of them, before going on her way, greeting other guests, dusting her magic on others, and entrancing them with her pupilless orbs.

Her daddy must've been so proud of her for acting like the perfect little princess she was, using all the lessons she was pained with during her childhood and teenage years.

Prim and proper like every Hyuga.

"A tailor came for just that dress," Neji stated, now with a mountain of chips before him, a small smirk playing on his thin lips.

"A job well done," Shino commented to that.

"Looks fucking hot on her," Kiba added, and Naruto could only send him a glare when he noticed the Inuzuka barking out in laughter.

"Let my boy be, all of you. He's not in the mood," his father came up to them, a glass of champagne in one hand, the other hidden inside one of his pockets.

"He's never in the mood when the Hyuga's not by his side," Sasuke stated matter-of-factly.

His father chuckled before standing beside where he was seated. Naruto could see the content smile displayed on his face, watching the crowd having a good time, everything going according to his plan. He took another sip of his drink before handing the empty flute to a passing waiter.

"She looks lovely."

"She is," the younger Namikaze answered, his eyes still fixed on her.

"She seems like she's dressed just for you," his father singsonged now, sending him a side glance and testing the waters.

"She is," Naruto stated because it was a fact. She was dressed just for him and she could deny it all she wanted but everybody knew.

"And you still don't wanna go up to her? Another man could snatch her away if you're not fast enough."

"No one will," he grounded out, taking another drag from the cigar handed to him. He would make sure of that.

"My, my... You seem pretty confident… Why is that?"

"Because she's mine," Naruto scoffed with so much certainty.

"She's no longer yours, son. Just in case, you still didn't know. Since two months and what… Twelve days?" He glared at his dad just for the older one to break out in laughter.

"Stop that frown of yours, would you? You're scaring our guests." One of his father's hands patted him on the shoulder before he as well went on his way, doing just what Hinata was doing, that being greeting newcomers.

"Just go up to her," Shikamaru sighed after a time observing nearly crashing his glass with his bare hand. "You're impossible you two."

"Why should I?!"

"Why should he?!" Neji uttered at the same time.

"Why are you on his side?" Kiba shouted too loud for everyone's ears, throwing himself on the couch, his cheeks red from the beverage.

"Because she's not acting like a proper Hyuga."

"How is she acting?" Shino questioned now, his glasses sliding down his nose.

"Silly. Immature. Childish. Whatever you wanna call it."

"She's not, you stuck-up jerk. She just noticed what better fishes there are in the sea." And that was Naruto's cue to get up and leave his so-called friends to escape that upcoming talk where his relationship was the main topic.

He could've smacked Kiba right then and there. A solid blow to the face would've knocked back some sense into him, like when they were just a couple of stupid teenagers.

Though he knew the Inuzuka heir was drunk to the core and that a lot of bullshit was about to come out of his mouth. He couldn't blame his friend for it as him and Shino were her best friends. They were just trying to protect her as every good friend should do.

The blond wasn't about to make a scene anyway. After being absent for about two months, and getting torn apart by the press, he couldn't afford to cause another scandal, considering that filthy rats were lurking everywhere tonight, waiting for just that to happen.

And he certainly wouldn't want to get called out by his parents and get smacked with a pan or whatever his mother would have at disposition for her to beat him. As the Namikaze heir, he had to act accordingly to his position.

His mama raised him better than that.

Neji surprised him though. Maybe he was just as fed up as Naruto was with her antics. Who knows?

He went on the terrasse, taking in the cold winter air that befell Konoha at this time of year. The view was mesmerizing, to say the least. The vast gardens were covered with snow, a white landscape so rare nowadays, one couldn't but be fascinated.

Sipping on his whiskey, Naruto tried to make those annoying thoughts evaporate. He just couldn't be bothered by her pathetic behavior, he tried to convince himself.

They were definitely over now.

Definitely.

They bid their time together and they had good moments, yet they were now adults and things were turning serious.

He was about to take over the RasenGun empire.

High school and college times were over, the adult world stood now before them.

He thought about asking the big question. That, since a year. Well, much longer than a year. More like three... Though, he always knew she'd be his wife one day. And he thought that's all she wanted too.

Apparently not as she left him a little over two months ago.

They were now 24, college graduates, both children of two of the most influential men in Konoha.

Maybe, their relationship was doomed to fail from the very beginning, and they just didn't want to see the signs. Well, they broke up at least three times in almost eight years of being a couple, and if that wasn't proof enough...

Anyway, Hinata did, apparently, see the signs as she took care of ending them.

And now she was acting like that and that made him seethe in anger.

What was she playing at?

He couldn't deny though that she looked very beautiful tonight. She always was. From her sweet four years to her sexy 24 years.

Man, he knew her for 20 years if not longer…

And she gave them up just moments before he wanted to ask her to marry him.

It's probably the first time he felt so hurt in his life. Something broke in him that day and all because of her. Because of the tantrums she threw, influenced by either her girlfriends or just by herself.

He never talked to anyone about what he was planning on doing. That decision was solely his and he wished to not feel pressured by it, or feel as if he had to do it because they were now together for such a long time and that he must feel obliged to it at some point.

He really wanted to grow old with her. He wanted her to bear his kids and be united with her for the rest of his life.

No one could've taken away her place. Hell, she's the only woman, besides his mother, that he ever loved. Really loved, and that from the bottom of his heart.

And now he was looking up at the sky, asking Kaguya-sama for help, acting just as pathetic as Hinata's failed attempts to get his attention.

He needed to clear his head off this woman who haunted his every thought. She was no longer part of his life.

Never again would this woman humiliate him in such a way, and she will grieve for having betrayed him sooner or later.

For someone who was supposed to know him like the back of her hand, she obviously highly doubted his abilities to render her life miserable. And now that he was back, he would ensure to make her regret her whimsical decisions.

Her time will come.

Without a doubt.
