"I still don't understand why you guys kidnapped Dick and I apart…"
Zatanna protest as the her make up artist and Megan were doing her final touches for the wedding.
"You live with the man and you are marrying him…besides don't you like kidnappings?"
Artemis teases her best friend.
"Yeah but when he does the kidnapping…but don't you change the subject"
"Zee. There's this tradition about the Bride not seeing the Groom the week prior the wedding until the altar but since there were a couple of bumps here and there…"
Megan starts explaining.
"You are lucky that we allow you guys get freaky a couple of days before we put you two apart"
Donna added.
"Either way…you have spent even more time apart because of the League, Circus or our girls' trip"
Rocket finishes her last details on her bridesmaid dress.
"That's true but we thought that we were spending the days prior the wedding cuddling, having dates-"
"Fucking, you freaks"
The archer interrupts the magician.
"You didn't have to do what you did…"
3 Days before the Wedding
"Morning, gorgeous"
Dick tucks Zee's hair behind her ear.
"Morning, Handsome"
Zatanna starts planting soft kisses on his bare chest.
"What about we go for a ride?"
Zatanna playfully smacks him.
"Detective Grayson, you can talk like that to an engaged woman"
Zatanna shows off her engagement ring. Dick takes her hand and kisses it.
"I was talking about a ride in motorcycle…although I'm not saying no to the other one"
Dick starts a tickle and kissing attack on her.
"Wait…D-Dick. Let's go for the ride, a picnic and the you get your ride"
Dick stops his attack and carries her bridal style.
"What are you doing?"
Between giggles she asks.
"We are taking a shower before going…"
After a hot shower and some action, they were in the living room.
"Ready to go?"
Dick asks as he extends his hand for her to take.
"With you? Always"
She takes her hand.
"Don't forget your keys?"
"Why? Aren't we going in your bike?"
Zee let goes of his hand and pouts. Dick's plan was for each to ride their bike but it seems that the magician has another plans in mind.
"Are you going to use those beautiful big blue eyes of yours every time you want something? Should I expect blackmailing in our marriage?"
Zee smirks at him.
"Dick. I've been using that since we meet. Were you hoping for me to stop now?"
"I was hoping that you won't"
Before they could take hands a barrier appeared between the two.
"What's going?"
"You are the detective, you tell me"
"That'd be us…"
Rocket, Artemis, Wally, Xanadu and Conner make an entrance.
"What are you guys doing?"
"We are splitting you two apart…"
The archer was quick to answer.
"Why?!"
The couple ask at the same time.
"You've been ignoring our calls…"
"In my defense…Zee broke our phones"
The magician glares at her fiancé.
"Traitor"
"In any case…your wedding is in 3 days and you are spending those days in an only guys/girls bonding…"
"Wait wh-"
Wally takes Dick in his arms and speed out of Chalant's home.
"Where did you take him?"
"Far away from you, girl"
Xanadu opens a portal below Zatanna and the magician starts falling.
"Let's pick up some of their clothes"
Conner picks Dick's clothing while Artemis and Rocket do the same for Zatanna.
"Yes, we did but you have fun with us, didn't you?"
Raquel ask her friend.
"Yeah. It was amazing but still a little overboard"
Megan looks at the magician's reflection.
"You and Dick always go overboard while fighting, showing off and stuff and we do it and it's wrong?"
"We are performers"
"I'm a performer too"
Nimue adds as she inspects herself in the mirror.
Knock* Knock*
"Who is it?"
Trace asks.
"Dick. Can I talk with my FIANCÉ?…please?"
"NO!"
All the ladies answer back in a heartbeat.
"It's important. It truly is"
They look at each other for a moment.
"Fine but we are blindfolding the both of you"
"This is ridiculous"
Nimue, carefully puts a blindfold on Zee, making sure that her make up stays intact. Megan goes through the wall to put cover Dick's eyes. Once the couple were ready Megan guides Dick to Zatanna and Donna does the same for Zee.
"God, you look beautiful"
Dick puts his hands on her face.
"Dick, you can't see me…"
"True but I don't need to see you to know that you ravishing"
They both smiled.
"Chop-chop Bird Boy. We don't have your time"
Artemis puts pressure on the couple.
"Right. I have a wedding gift for you but first…"
Dick leans closer and starts kissing her so gently and so passionate, this wasn't a heated kiss but a tender one. The women would usually made a comment on their friend but they couldn't, the way he was holding and kissing her, melted their hearts and how Zatanna was reciprocating the kiss and relaxing with his touch.
"Woow…that was quite the kiss, Boy Wonder"
Zatanna was panting.
"This is my last kiss with my fiancé, of course I have to bring my A game…but this kiss has nothing on how I'm going to kiss my wife…"
Zatanna keeps panting and she just starts hugging Dick.
"Zee. I love you like you have no idea… I need you to let me go and count to 3 then you'll get your surprise"
Zatanna stops her embrace and starts counting. After a few moment she grows impatient.
"Dick. I swear that if you are pranking me before the we-"
"Piccola"
Zatanna couldn't believe her ears as a single tears falls from her eyes. Zatara carefully takes the blind from his daughter.
"Great girl. You are as beautiful as your mother…"
"Daddy!"
Zatanna embraces her father and her friends step out of the room to give them some privacy.
"H-h-how…"
Father and daughter walk to the nearest couch and sit.
"Your soon to be husband. He has been trying to convince Nabu for a while and after a lot of effort, N-"
"Dick, annoyed him, right?"
"And me in the process but believe or not he asked for my permission to marry you and told me how you've been and so much more…"
Zatanna keeps clinging to her father as he reminds her why she's marrying Dick.
"And I can't believe that I'm going to say this my girl"
"What is it Daddy? Are you alright?"
Seeing her father tearing up put Zee on the edge.
"Better than ever. It's just that seeing you happy, so alive, so beautiful in this important day and how Richards takes care of you, holds you…it seems that bringing you to the Cave that day, so many years ago, was the best thing that I could've ever done for you"
"Dad. You've done so many wonderful things for me but meeting Dick…he makes me so happy. I mean, I'm happy on my own with my shows and the League but I have a home with him and everything feels special by his side"
Zatara caresses his daughter face.
"I know, great girl. That's why I'm here to walk with you to the Altar"
Zatanna gets sad remembering her one hour deal with Nabu.
"And then you are leaving?"
"No, I'm staying until after the wedding and the we get back to one hour at the time"
"I'm so happy that you are here"
Father and daughter embrace each other for awhile longer and talk until it was time for the ceremony.
After a few tears from Dick, Zatanna, Zatara, Alfred, Bruce, among other guests…it was open floor for everyone to dance. Zatanna spots her protégée sitting and drinking, catching glances from Jaime.
"Hey, Traci. Having fun?"
13 gets out of her trance.
"Huh? Yeah, it's amazing and you look so beautiful, Zatanna"
"Thanks, Trace. You look really beautiful too"
The younger magician blushes.
"Trace, remember what we talk about these past few days about being brave?"
Trace looks confused at her mentor.
"Dick told me how brave you were fighting those cyclops…"
"But he didn't told you how I froze and curled up in a ball…"
"Actually, he did"
Trace looks surprised and blushes.
"That's why I know that you are brave"
"But I panicked and-"
"Trace, being brave isn't about not having fear…is about doing stuff even when you are scared. It's about push past your fears and Dick and I couldn't be any prouder"
Trace wasn't sure were the conversation was going.
"Thanks, Zatanna"
"But you need to know that bravery is needed everywhere and believe or not, it takes more bravery to do things outside of the battlefield"
Zatanna turns her gaze to Jaime. The magicians catch Jaime looking at Trace.
"You like him, don't you?"
Trace moves her gaze from Zatanna to her drink.
"I-I-I d-do"
Zee takes Trace's hands.
"You just need to be brave, Trace. He likes you, I can tell"
Trace drinks the rest of her beverage in one go before standing up and walking towards Blue Beetle.
"What is my beautiful wife plotting, now?"
Dick kisses her cheek as he helps her stand up.
"Mentoring…"
She signals to Trace walking to Jaime. Zatanna and Dick weren't ready for what was coming. Zatanna was expecting for Trace to ask Jaime to dance, her eyes almost fall from their place the moment she sees Trace pulling Jaime into a deep kiss and smiles the moment she sees Jaime kissing back.
"It looks like your protégée learns more than magic from you"
Dick snickers.
"I wasn't expecting that but it seems that it worked"
Jaime takes Trace hand and the new couple makes their way to the dance floor.
"Magicians and your tricks…"
Dick takes Zatanna's hand and leads her to the dance floor.
"What can I say…we are irresistible"
"That you are"
Dick spots a happy Trace dancing with Blue.
"I really like Trace, she's almost as amazing as her mentor"
Chalant was slow dancing.
"Of course. She's amazing and she saved our butts from our friends these past few days"
Zatanna was with her head on his chest. In this moment there were just the two of them.
"Don't tell me about it. We own her big time"
The Day Chalant was split by their friends.
"What an amazing day!"
The exhausted girls fall on different spots around the living room.
"I'm sure that Zatanna cheated with magic at the Bowling alley…"
Raquel accuses her friend.
"I did not. Dick and I go once a month…ask Artemis and Wally. We always wipe the floor with them"
"Yeah. She and bird brains are so annoying. That's why I always team up with Tanna to beat Wally and Dick"
"Also did you see the face of those guys at the bar?! Zatanna you didn't have to be like that with them…"
Donna felt slightly bad for the strangers at the bar.
"I did. I told them I was engaged and they did not care"
"Zatanna. One of those guys were still crying when we leave"
Megan chimed in.
"It was sass their ass to the ground or turn them into pigs"
"But I think they were crying for the way Nimue sings…"
The girls burst in laughter.
"Some people don't know how to appreciate true talent"
The woman laughs once again.
"Also, I didn't knew that you have such an amazing voice Trace…"
"That's true. Really beautiful"
Trace blushes with the compliments.
"And tomorrow we are having more fun. Barbara and Karen are joining us tomorrow, so we are having even more fun"
Zatanna yawns as she stretches herself.
"Then let's head to bed"
The woman went to their own rooms. Bruce payed for the moves and biggest room in one of their hotels. After a quick shower and brushing her teeth, Zee was ready to sleep.
Knock* Knock*
The magician sprints to open the window of her room.
"Dick"
Richard takes her lips on quick kiss.
"What are you doing here? If they see you…I'm becoming a widower before getting marry"
"Please. I did this under Batman, Alfred and Zatara's treat…do you really think our friends are stopping me from seeing you?"
Zatanna helps him get in her room.
"We just gotta be quiet and careful"
Dick embrace her in a tight hug.
"Can we watch and cuddle?"
"I brought the snacks"
Dick pulls from his jacket a bag of chocolates.
"My hero"
The couple rest on her bed, they watched a movie and fall asleep together.
"I'll never get tired of waking up with you"
Zatanna smiles seeing her favorite pair of blue eyes.
"You are perfect, Zee"
They were so into each other that couldn't remember that they were in incognito mode.
"Megan, don't you think you are making too much food?!"
The couple got back to reality after hearing the Amazon's voice.
"Remember that Barbara and Karen are coming too"
They keep hearing voices from the other side of the door.
"Dick. You better leave before they realize that you are here…wait! What about the guys? Do they know that you are here?"
Dick starts dressing himself.
"We were trying to get Alucard to relax and I suggested a prank war…they think that I'm just waiting to make my move"
Zee keeps pushing Dick to the window.
"Wait! I can't go without a kiss from my fiancé"
Zatanna smiles before getting into a heated kiss with him. They were so cupped up in the others lips that didn't realized that someone has open the door.
"Trace, is Zatanna up?"
The couple was caught red handed by the magician and stayed froze like deer in headlights.
"No! She's asleep…"
The couple smiles nervously at Trace.
"What do you mean by that?! Im waking her up?"
The couple hears Artemis' voice and panics. In the other hand Trace uses her bad luck magic, Megan slips and spills the food all over Artemis.
"Megan?! What gives?!"
"I'm sorry but I don't know what happened"
"Sorry. It was my fault. I still don't have full control over my powers and I jus-"
Artemis calms down after knowing that Traci was the responsible.
"Don't worry, Traci. It was an accident. Just help me get clean"
Trace closes the door of Zatanna's room. Leaving the couple out of harm's way.
"Are you coming tonight as well?"
Dick winks at her before jumping out of the window
"Maybe, we can double date with them when we are back from our Honey Moon"
They keep dancing, moving like one unit, one heart.
"That's an amazing idea, my dear husband"
Zatanna moves her gaze up to meet with his lovely eyes.
"Of course, my beloved wife"
They lean into each other's foreheads.
"KISS! KISS! KISS!"
The performers had no other option but to indulge their public.
