Chapter Twelve: Zeus & Apollo

Robin's Nest was large enough the dogs could literally be anywhere, depending on how Ivan's men broke into the estate. However, Thomas knew how protective Zeus and Apollo were of Higgins, so he headed straight towards the main house. Perhaps he would get lucky and find a clue about Higgins' whereabouts.

Not far from the house, Thomas came across Apollo. Or was it Zeus? It was difficult for him to tell the dogs apart most of the time. It was also difficult to see the absolute proof Ivan had Higgins in the form of the animal in front of him. There was absolutely no way Juliet would leave her beloved dogs behind like that.

He went to his knees next to the dog, which ended up being Zeus, relived to find the animal was breathing without any difficulties. Quickly checking the Doberman over, he discovered a tranquilizer dart and removed it. Finding no other injuries, he carefully picked the dog up and continued towards the main house.

Just inside the open front door, he found Apollo in a similar condition. Still carrying Zeus, Thomas carefully stepped over Apollo, and hurried to deposit the animal comfortably in its crate. He hurried back over to Apollo, and repeated the same process he had with Zeus. He made sure there was plenty of water and some food for both dogs, knowing there wasn't much more he could do for them without contacting a vet, something he assumed Ivan would not allow.

Thomas wished he could do more for Zeus and Apollo besides make them comfortable, but he just didn't have the time and couldn't risk angering Ivan so early in the game.

He needed to start planning out how he was going to complete the task Ivan had given him, but first he needed to finish cleaning up and change clothes, knowing he needed to look presentable to avoid any undue attention.
