Chapter Fifteen: Here's Your Sign

Hawai'i was fairly laid back in terms of appropriate dress, but for at least one place he needed to go, Thomas still needed to look presentable.

Walking towards his bedroom closet, Thomas began to come up with ideas for clues that were not too vague and would alert his friends to his need for help, assuming they came out to Robin's Nest when they couldn't get in touch with him. More than once Magnum had to put the thought he was endangering Higgins by leaving clues into the back of his mind. His little voice was telling him there was more to Hazredi than Ivan wanting either information or revenge or death.

Thankfully, the first clue was something that could be concealed by his need for clean clothes. He took a couple of possible outfits out of his closet, discarding one of them and putting the other on. He had decided on something that would be appropriate as well as functional for a number of situations – a pair a jeans and a navy blue long-sleeved, button-down shirt that he rolled the sleeves up to just above his elbows.

The outfit he'd discarded, which was in fact his first clue, was the light grey shirt and dark grey cargo pants he'd worn when he'd encountered Ivan the last time. Rick had this weird ability to remember what clothes people had worn when noteworthy events happened, and Thomas hoped his brother would remember the significance of the shirt and pants he'd left out on his bed.

Magnum dressed quickly, leaving his dirty clothes behind in a pile on the floor, and put the phone Ivan had given him in his back pocket. If the man had somehow managed to hack his phone's camera, then Ivan would be blind and have to rely on sound only.

This allowed him to work as quietly as possible on a couple of more clues to leave for his friends. Ones he hoped weren't too obscure to figure out. The good thing about them was that Ivan had no way of knowing the particular details of his personal life they were based on. If the goons were sent back in to check for pleas for help of any kind once he left, then the likelihood they would be discovered for what they actually were was practically nil – he hoped.

As he moved around the guest house leaving clues, using them to paint a picture of what was going on, Magnum also put together things in a duffle he might need for the task he had been given, having come up with multiple ideas for how to get the information he'd been blackmailed into acquiring. Thomas knew he had to be prepared for as many scenarios as possible, because there was no telling what hurdles he would encounter along the way.

Once he was as prepared as he could be, and had hopefully left enough subtle signs behind for his brothers, Thomas had to decide where to go first.
