Author's Note

Middle-earth, its places, and characters are owned by Tolkien. I am not an experienced poet, so do not be surprised if this doesn't have a clear form. This is written from the perspective of an Elf who was formerly from Eregion. Please review and tell me what you think.

Eregion, Land of Holly,

The trees were singing,

And children, laughing.

oOo

We went there in hope,

Hope of a new start,

Where we could live away from the dark.

oOo

But Dark followed us there,

Veiled as light;

That light was a lie, so Eregion died.

oOo

Conflict he caused,

Dividing peoples,

'Til they were loyal to him without any thought.

oOo

He imparted his power,

Into several small rings,

That he bound to his spirit for eternity.

oOo

These he desired more than anything,

So when they were withheld,

He came ravaging.

oOo

Came an army of orcs,

Many more than the Elves,

But when he resisted Celebrimbor was felled.

oOo

At last they found safety in fair Rivendell,

That secretive valley,

But they nearly did fall.

oOo

There they withstood the great orc force,

Until they were rescued,

By friends and Numenor.

oOo

Now few remember,

The glorious days ,

When one could sing gladly and laugh in the shade.

oOo

Eregion, Land of Holly,

I will remember,

Your days of glory.
