"Ah fuck," Were the first words out of my mouth when I saw myself in the mirror. I had no other words. Reflected in it was a face that was not mine, a body that was most certainly not mine and a gender that was most certainly not mine.
And since I was pretty sure I was not suffering from Dementia or Alzheimer's, I don't think I remember being a girl. Fuck.
Taking a deep breath I crushed any panic that festered in the depths of my stomach. I was not about to go carry.
Some bloody thing had gone wrong somewhere along the way, and I was now in the body of a girl who I would best describe as a head turner, ruby red eyes, height that reached over one hundred and eighty, hair that reached below my waist, and curves in all the places the boys liked. The fuck? I looked like some anime yandere love interest.
I sigh as I walk out of the washroom and into my one-bedroom apartment. Right, I needed to figure things out, where was I, when was I and most importantly who was I? And if I can manage to make some money, how was I?
My eyes roamed the room, empty was the best way I could describe it, except for one thing, a duel disk kept atop a drawer. I had an immediate urge to roll my eyes, this girl was a nerd. At least it will sell for good money.
Still, more important than that thing was the drawer itself, keening in front of the thing I pulled back the compartments. The topmost one had documents: Bank statements, a rental contract, a birth certificate, a middle school diploma and, thank god, adoption papers. This was good shit.
I started making my way through the papers, Mira Heylel, Middle school graduate(2004)...well fuck, I was about twenty years in the past? Given the time the fucking flip phone displayed. A straight-A student with dead parents, a guardian named Kyo. All of this sounded very bloody Japanese but it was all written in English, again thank god for that.
From the bank statements I had a small trust fund derived from dividends paid by Kaiba Corp stocks, a part of them being given to me to live and a part going to pay off any inheritance tax. I got about three thousand dollars monthly, nearly half of it going towards rent and essentials. Again all in dollars, so I was either in America or some commonwealth country.
Pulling the next drawer my eyes caught on a binder and a holster strapped to winding leather that was meant to go around one's thighs.
I dug them out and tossed them on the bed, opening the holster. There were cards inside, bloody Yugioh cards. Jesus, this girl was a nerd. I filled it all back inside and opened the binder, what I had expected were photos but no, it was just cards, a lot of cards, a lot of trash cards. But cards nonetheless. If this girl liked Yugioh, then I should also learn them in case she had some friends. I opened the holster and splashed the cards inside it on the bed. They went everywhere. But none fell off the bed.
Looking through what I assumed to be her deck made me just disappointed, normal monster spam, situational cards and a few staples. Yes I knew Yugioh but I have only ever played the OCG, I don't collect cards. But as my hands rubbed over them I realised something, this was not feeling like just cardboard, this was too fucking high quality for that.
This was all shit, well not like I wanted to play anyway. Then my eyes went to the duel disk, it looked high quality, I frowned, I had seen a duel disk in real life before and they all had that distinct, cheap anime prop feeling. This? This thing looked…for lack of a better word, real. Oh, god damn it.
Kaiba Corp, Duel Disk, and a freakish amount of too-high-quality cards. A bad premonition started hovering in my mind, I pushed it away, it was all a coincidence.
I opened the window blinders and outside and I knew I could not ignore it, a blimp flew through the air with a screen grafted onto its side displaying a massive KC.

Sitting in front of a computer in a cramped room, in a crappy cyber cafe, as I read through the many many articles that were on the Japanese Internet—but all written in English—I had come to three conclusions.
One, the Japanese Language while it did exist was like Sanskrit now, few people spoke it.
Two, I was in the anime and in the 4kids dub of it too. Not that it affected anything with the actual plot.
Three, I was in GX and not going to duel Academy.
Weird and dangerous shit will go down there, bloody duelling monkeys, love letters, something about a duel spirit being shot into space, something-something-chosen-one-Jayden, oh right there was also one guy who was trying to gain immortality—wait, some guy tried to gain immortality and almost succeeded.
I jumped from my chair sending it tumbling from the shock, my mind raced, immortality, I could gain immortality. That was insane. I could feel an insane glee grinding at my face, morphing it into a twisted smile. I wanted that. And would fucking get it. One way or another.
I bolted out of the room, I did not care about the reactions, but one fact took the wind out of my sails as soon as I stepped foot outside. I need to build a deck, not like the one I had holstered around my thigh, which was garbage. I needed a real deck, and I knew exactly where to get it.
I walked over to the map drawn into the nearby bus stand, my eyes scanning over it, Kame Games. I needed cards and I needed advice. Who better than Ass-Pull Jesus junior, otherwise called, Yugi Moto?

Kame-Games was built into the corner of a street bend, it was visible from all directions, but one thing was different than expected, no adverts about Yugi, I mean if Yugi worked for my store you bet your ass he was going to be in front and centre in my advertising campaign.
Still not my problem, I walked past the cycle stands and pushed the door open, and all I knew were cards. From first to last, from top to bottom there were just cards, the shelves were lined with packs and the display was practically bursting. But I ignored it all and greeted the short fat man, with a white beard behind the counter, "Here to buy cards and hopefully get a bit of advice too."
The man looked up from the laminated card he was polishing, "Ah, the name is Solomon Moto."
I walked over and took a seat on the chair in front of him, I was over twice this man's height. So even as I sat I still dwarfed him. His white beard ruffled as he asked, "Mind showing me your deck?"
I pulled out my deck from the holster only to remember how shit it was, "Here you go," I said as I flipped the cards over, showing them face up on the desk.
The first card managed to make me frown, [Dark Witch.] A shit normal monster.
Well, I moved the first card off, sliding it down next to the deck, Something [Seal Magician.] Another trash card.
As we continued I realised just how bad this deck was, it had few staple cards but that was it.
"Okay we might need some real work to make this dec—" He was cut off as the door was pushed open again, revealing a kid with spiky hair so iconic that it made me wonder if he spent his entire championship earnings on buying gel and dyes that he used to maintain it.
Yugi Moto walked in.
"Perfect timing," Solomon chimed at his grandson, "Yugi, mind helping this girl here?" Yugi shook his head as he put down his bag next to the door, "Nope grandpa," There was a cheer in his voice as he said it and a disarming smile. Always excited about cards?
He walked over and introduced himself, "Yugi Moto, what can I do to help you?" I extended my hand to him, offering a shake, "Mira Heylel, a lot. I am new at the game and my friend just gave me a deck but I want to make my own," I lied through my teeth.
"Oh?" He said he circled the room and entered the counter, walking over to me. I spread my deck on the counter showing him the sixty cards that were in the deck. To be frank, completely trash but it had two redeeming qualities, it had a copy of [Relinquished] and its ritual spell.
Well, that was it. And everything else was trash, just normal monsters and situational traps, shit as I call it.
I sighed, "I want to make a ritual deck around Relinquished. Think you can help me with that?" He nodded with a smile, "Of course. Generally, we sell packs but seeing as you are a new player it can be frustrating to open packs, we have many open cards that might help you."
I nodded and the talk began.
It took two hours of hard pretending with a smile that I gave a shit about what he said but I shouldered on as he had shown me around all the cards before it was my turn to buy them and he would help me pick them.
I stuck with my guns and after a bit more of the bullshit we were finally done, but more importantly than all that I had built a rep with the kid, who was technically older than me.
Right, this was going to cost me a pretty penny but it would be worth it. I fired off my list.
3x Monster Reborn
3x Pot of Greed(I already have that)
2x Two Graceful charity
2x Mirror force
3x Harpy's FD
2x Solemn Judgement
3x Relinquished
3x Black Illusion Ritual
3x Manju of the ten thousand hands
3x Senju of the thousand hands
3x Sonic Bird
3x Mystic Tomato
3x Witch of the black forest
3x Sangan
He listened to it and his eyes grew wide, "That would be a strong deck, very much so. But that is only thirty-nine cards." I blinked, oh right, it was thirty-nine cards only, I mean come on Mr Goody two shoes, help a girl out, will you?
"Yeah, I am thinking of getting a main deck card that can serve as a boss, right now I only have Relinquished," I look at him, "I don't know what will give it the ending punch to win me a duel."
"I know how about a Summoned…" He paused, as his smile grew, "I know just a thing, wait a moment," with those words he left the counter, coming back five minutes later with a card in his hands, "You know, I feel this card will do well as your companion," in my magical journey? I gave him a questioning glance but I nodded and took the card from him as soon as the face of the card came into my sight my eyes widened,
"Chaos Emperor Dragon!?" Isn't this super expensive!? Holly balls dude! And you just gave it away? I was defiantly gonna abuse the fuck out of the grave and it synergised well with my grave-filling deck.
I almost hugged him, "Thank you so much!"
With this, I might just become immortal!

[A/N: With that chapter one is done. You have the card list and we will not be going any further than 2005 TCG cards till the second year. We will follow anime rules for the Duels and stuff and have anime cards.
And with that, it has been re-written.
Thank you for reading and telling me your impressions!]
