Hello everyone, back with a new story. I had the first part of this sitting in my google docs for a while and decided to flesh it out to a point where I thought it was worth posting. I've always wanted to write a fic for jojo, and while I'm not as well versed on MHA, I thought it would be the perfect world to drop Giorno into. Many canon events will happen as usual, but I plan to expand the world building with the introduction of stands to the MHA world. There will be new villains and plot developments because of this, and I'm excited at the prospect of designing new abilities from scratch. This is outside my usual overlord and isekai audience that I typically write for, but I hope my long-time readers can enjoy this story too, as well as any new readers who find me for the first time from this. To which i'll say, check out some of my other stuff, but even if you don't, a follow/favorite and review is always appreciated. Hope you guys enjoy.

Requiem For a Golden Dream
Chapter 1: What's a Quirk?
"MUDA!"
After unleashing the fiercest attack barrage of his life, Gold Experience Requiem delivered what Giorno assumed to be the killing blow. Diavolo, the resolute boss of Passione, was sent flying into the unforgiving waters of the River Tiber, beaten within an inch of his life.
"You- You did it!"
Giorno's reliable companion Mista was the first to declare their impossible victory.
"Your Gold Experience evolved thanks to the arrow, and… I couldn't see what it did, so I don't really know how, but you finally defeated him!"
Both Mista and Trish, the cast-out daughter of the Boss, moved to the railing to look out over the water, scanning for the remains of Diavolo.
Giorno already knew they would raise alarm at their enemy possibly escaping, but he had an innate understanding of Diavolo's fate, one that even he almost considered too cruel.
I already had an idea that the scope of Requiem's power was beyond my understanding, but if it really did what I understood it to have, it may truly be beyond my control…
Before he could dwell on it further, or respond to the cries of his allies, Giorno's perception of reality began to twist.
No, it'd be accurate to say that reality itself began to shatter around him, pulling him into a dark void that he was unknowingly familiar with.
He felt himself accelerating forward into the abyss, with barely any time to react to his dire situation.
Is this an ability of Requiem?! No, it may just be a consequence of wielding such an overwhelming power!
As the G-force affecting Giorno reached critical levels, and he felt himself beginning to black out, there was one last thing he was able to perceive before sinking into unconsciousness.
A light in the distance, one that he was rapidly approaching. Before he could glimpse what was on the other side, Giorno blacked out.
…
"His injuries are minor, but the way EMS found him was very unusual…"
Where am I?
Giorno had begun to open his eyes, straining against the bright light that lit the room he was in. He had picked up a sentence or two of someone nearby, but there were several things about what he heard that confused him greatly.
I heard a woman… speaking Japanese? She mentioned injuries, and that I was found by paramedics…
While Giorno had lived most of his life in Italy, he was born in Japan, and being raised by his Japanese mother meant he was exposed to the language early on. Considering that he spent most of his life ostracized by his peers, he had made use of his freetime studying the language of his mother, in a vain attempt to try and get her to notice him. Even if he wasn't fluent, Giorno knew enough to be considered conversationally adept.
Now that his eyes had finally adjusted, everything began to make sense. He was lying in a small hospital room, with who he presumed to be a nurse and doctor standing next to him.
"Excuse me, would you mind telling me where I am? What happened to me?"
He had finally begun to notice the pain emanating from his left leg, along with the small scratches or bruises that peppered most of his body.
"Well young man, we wanted to ask you that ourselves. The paramedics who brought you in said they found you unconscious in the middle of the street, with injuries that made it seem like you had fallen from a great height."
The friendly, yet stern looking doctor failed to fully illuminate the situation for Giorno, yet he had started to formulate several theories.
"The issue… is that there were no places where you could have jumped or fallen into the position where they found you. Now, be honest with me son, were you trying to use your quirk and wound up hurting yourself?"
"Quirk? Excuse me?"
Maybe I'm not as fluent as I thought, but I could've sworn he just used the word 'quirk'...
"Now, I'm just your healthcare provider, not a cop or anything of the sort. The police may question you about the incident, but I'm bound by the law not to reveal confidential info about a patient."
What the doctor was saying made sense, but Giorno couldn't grasp why the police would have any reason to question him. As he currently understood, he was either subjected to the ability of an enemy stand, which he highly doubted, or the usage of Requiem's ability caused some kind of distortion in reality, pulling him in. Why this occurrence dumped him in the middle of a Japanese city street still eluded him, but regardless of the minutiae of his situation, he knew he needed to get moving.
"I don't believe I've committed a crime, and now that I'm conscious, I'd like to be discharged immediately."
Both the doctor and nurse gave him concerned looks, before trying to explain his exact situation.
"Listen son, your tibia, the big bone in your leg, has suffered a compound fracture, you're in no state to be leaving right now. Now, I believe we might've gotten off on the wrong foot, I'm Dr. Yaguchi, and this is nurse Haruta, would you mind telling us your name? First responders weren't able to find any form of ID on you, so we've had to wait for you to regain consciousness before getting any patient information."
Giorno was able to tell from the searing pain in his leg that this Dr. Yaguchi was likely correct in his diagnosis. While he could easily repair the break with his Gold Experience, it would raise far too much suspicion for his leg to be miraculously healed. As for revealing his name, the last thing he wanted was for his new location to somehow be learned by vestiges of Passione loyal to Diavolo, so he decided to tell a half truth.
"My name is Shiobana Haruno, although I don't believe my name will be on any registry, given I'm not a Japanese citizen."
The reveal of his birth name shocked both Dr. Yaguchi and nurse Haruta, as they were expecting a foreign-sounding name.
"Haruno, huh. I thought you looked a little Japanese, but that blonde hair and those blue eyes had me peg you as a foreigner. How about your date of birth? Just for the hospital record."
"Of course, it's April 16th, 1985."
After telling the doctor and nurse his birthday, they both stared back at him blankly, as if expecting him to say something else.
"Is there an issue, Dr. Yaguchi? I've been told I look older than I am, but the date is accurate, I promise."
At this point, Dr. Yaguchi let out a nervous chuckle, as he waited for his new patient to assure him that he was joking. Yet Giorno merely returned the doctor's confused stare.
"Unless you have a poor understanding of when it's a bad time to joke, I'm afraid you may have suffered some head trauma from your accident, Haruno."
What is this doctor talking about? I know people don't always believe me when I tell them I'm 15, but this reaction is over the top, especially for a medical professional…
"Before I order any type of neurological test, why don't you try answering a few questions to gauge your cognition?"
Giorno was still confused as to the reasoning behind the doctor's concern, but he decided to play along until a chance to sneak away presented itself. Thus, he nodded his head in acknowledgment.
"First off, why don't you tell me today's date?"
"Sure, today would be April 6th, 2001."
Once again, Dr. Yaguchi cast a worried look at Giorno, although this time it was more grave. He quickly whispered something to the nurse, after which she swiftly left the room. Letting out a heavy sign, Dr. Yaguchi pulled his chair next to Giorno and sat down.
"You got the day and month right, but, Haruno… You do know the year isn't 2001, right?"
Giorno's eyes went wide for a moment, as he sensed no level of deceit coming from his doctor.
This has to be an enemy stand attack, some kind of illusion! Maybe the doctor, no, maybe all the medical staff have been hypnotized? Less likely things have happened because of a stand attack… Wait, wouldn't Requiem stop the threat, even without my knowledge?
Before responding to the doctors, Giorno attempted to summon Requiem to his side, but was instead greeted with the face of his unevolved stand, Gold Experience.
Well this could be problematic…
During his travels in that black abyss of space-time, the requiem arrow that was implanted in GER's head must have ejected itself. Meaning that not only was Giorno now left without his requiem abilities, but the requiem arrow could be anywhere across the world.
Turning his attention back to Dr. Yaguchi, Giorno decided it was best to inquire more information without seeming outright suspicious.
"I think I may be confused, Dr. Yaguchi. Would you mind telling me the correct date? Or how about exactly where I am?"
The doctor was clearly perturbed over Giorno's condition, as he assumed him to have sustained some kind of damage to his memory. More accurately, the retrieval system. Yet Dr. Yaguchi couldn't explain the inconsistent presentation of his symptoms, as he was clearly cognizant, even able to communicate in a language that he assumed was difficult for him.
"Like I said, it is April 6th, however the current year is 2153, not 2001…"
Giorno absently blinked at him for a moment, immediately understanding that his doctor wasn't lying to him.
Is it possible that the tunnel through space included time as well? Theoretically they would be almost one and the same, yet this hospital room doesn't seem to be from over a century in the future… Wait… Could this possibly be an entirely different universe altogether?!
He couldn't justify his theory off of any hard evidence at the moment, yet his gut feeling told him he was a lot farther from Rome than he initially believed.
At least, the Rome of my time… Possibly an entire different reality…
"As for where you are, you're at Musutafu General Hospital. Now, why don't you answer a few questions of my own? Regardless of what year you think it is, how old are you, Haruno."
Giorno was still internally reeling over the fact that he may be stranded in an alternate, future reality, yet he kept his composure. He knew escaping his current situation was now even more important, as he was operating in truly unknown territory.
"I'm fifteen, sir."
Dr. Yaguchi's eyes seemed to bug out of his head for a second upon learning his patient's actual age.
"Are you sure? Given your current condition I want to doubt it, you look like you could easily be a senior in high school, maybe even older! Well, I'll have to believe you for the time being, more importantly, where are your parents? If you give me a number I can call them for you."
"My parents aren't in the picture, I live by myself, so don't worry about having to call anyone."
Furrowing his brow, Dr. Yaguchi contemplated on what to do with his patient given this new information. There was no way to verify his identity, especially given the fact that he wasn't a citizen of Japan, so there was also no way to verify if he had parents to go home with or not. He had already sent Nurse Haruta to get a neurology consult, so he decided to take it upon himself to call the proper authorities.
"Listen, Haruto, why don't you rest up for now. I'll check back in on you in a few minutes, I just have to attend to another patient."
He decided to not tell Haruno that he was calling child protective services, on the chance that it would cause him undue stress given his current condition.
However, once Dr. Yaguchi had left the room, Giorno immediately took action.
I don't have much time before the doctor or a nurse comes in to check on me… And in terms of escape, my only option seems to be the window…
Giorno had taken a glance out the window earlier, but given his bedridden position, the most he could do was lean forward and crane his head. Now that there were no witnesses though, he summoned his stand and got to work.
Replacing the broken portion of my tibia is child's play, it should only be another moment…
Despite Gold Experience losing its Requiem status, it still possessed an incredibly versatile and powerful ability. All Giorno had to do was imbue part of the cast on his leg with life, turning it into a perfectly uninjured section of his tibia. After swapping it for the old shattered bone, he could finally breathe easy and prepare his escape.
I'm forever grateful for Gold Experience's ability, but why must it be so excruciatingly painful to replace part of your own tibia…
Using his stand to tear off the remainder of his cast, Giorno stood up from his hospital bed and properly scanned the city of Tokyo from his hospital room, which he now learned was several stories above ground level.
This city though, it doesn't look that different from the Tokyo I remember… Could it really be 2153?
While the appearance of the city itself wasn't jarring to him, what immediately stood out were the people bustling through the streets.
Are those, aliens? Mixed among regular humans, I see anthropomorphic animals, and some creatures that I can't identify whatsoever… The only comparably bizarre thing I've seen to this is the concept of stands…
This all but confirmed his initial theory, that he had indeed traveled through space and time.
However, this being the future doesn't explain the proliferation of these heteromorphic creatures, as well as the fact that technology has not progressed nearly as far as even the most conservative estimates for future innovation… This might be a different reality altogether, perhaps one without the concept of stands. Could this be what the doctor had mentioned earlier? He had used the word "Quirk" in a way that would suggest some type of ability, given how he thought I had injured myself using one irresponsibly…
As Giorno's mind continued to race, he had to force himself to put the matter aside for the time being. There would be an opportunity to think later once he was out of the hospital. Unfortunately, the window he found himself in front of was not designed to be opened, and smashing the glass was certainly out of the question.
"Gold Experience."
Quietly calling out his stand and activating its ability, Gold Experience imbued the glass with life, giving it the form of vines which quickly grew down the side of the building. He turned his head to make sure no one was coming, and then gracefully vaulted the window sill.
It's certainly not as easy as growing a tree to get higher, but I think I can manage this…
Once he had started his descent down the side of the hospital, he realized he was at least five stories up, meaning it would be hard not to attract attention on the way down.
Dr. Yaguchi seemed to suggest that public use of one's ability, or "Quirk", was unlawful… That statement, combined with the amount of strange creatures in the streets below, means these so-called quirks must be commonplace… Perhaps only law enforcement are permitted to publicly use their abilities, or maybe it's a different agency altogether… Regardless, I don't want to wind up fighting people with unknown abilities, so I'll need a distraction…
Taking one of his lady bug brooches off his chest, Giorno quickly imbued it with life energy and tossed it into the air.
From the streets below, passersby looked to the sky in the direction opposite of the hospital. What had caught their attention was the loud squalling of a bird. When they turned to look at the source, they were bewildered to see a bird with a massive wingspan of at least a dozen feet.
The wandering albatross, boasting one of the largest wingspans among flight capable birds… Also completely foreign to Japan, meaning this should have the public gawking even if mutant humans are commonplace…
With everyone's attention on the albatross created by Gold Experience, Giorno was able to swiftly finish his climb to the ground without any witnesses. To remove the evidence, he undid his ability, causing the vines to rapidly ascend back up the building and return to their original form as glass.
Poor Dr. Yaguchi will think I vanished into thin air… Unfortunately it can't be helped, the less people who know about my current situation, the better…
Stepping out from the hospital alleyway onto the sidewalk of what looked like a main street, Giorno drank in the scenery of his new bizarre environment. Mixed amongst the familiar sight of salary-workers in dress suits on their lunch break, were a variety of creatures that for all intents and purposes seemed to be human, barring their physical appearance.
If non-stand users could see Gold Experience, I'd reckon it wouldn't even stand out that much from the crowd…
Giorno's usual pink open-chested attire was somewhat eccentric even for his homeland of Italy, yet in this alternate Japan, most people didn't even glance his way. The exception was the occasional girl trying to admire his good looks, something he was more than used to, and would try to use to his advantage.
"Miss, would you mind if I asked you a question?"
He had noticed this girl glance his way with a smile as she was about to pass by him, the perfect person for what he had in mind.
"Uh- yes! I mean no, no I wouldn't mind! Ha…"
I didn't expect her to be so awkward given her confident look… It doesn't matter either way, given her appearance and designer bag, she won't be too hurt by this loss…
"Could you recommend me a cheap hotel in the area? I'm visiting a friend who lives in town, but they won't be home until tomorrow, and couldn't be bothered to leave a spare key for me in the meantime."
"Oh, a hotel? Of course! There's a few scattered across main street, but there is one on the more affordable side a couple of blocks from here. Just keep walking a few more minutes and it'll be on your left. I forget the name, but it's a pretty distinct green building, you'll know it when you see it!"
With a source of affordable lodging secured, now all Giorno had to do was secure the necessary funds, his plan for which was already set in motion.
"Thank you for your help, miss. Have a wonderful rest of your day."
As he said this, Giorno reached forward and grabbed her hand and kissed it. While it was a gesture that was common in Italy, it caught a girl who was used to Japanese social norms completely off guard. It provided the perfect opportunity for him to touch her bag and activate his ability without her noticing.
The girl was left speechless as Giorno walked past her without another word. After a few moments, she turned to look at him one last time, before continuing on in the opposite direction, her face still blushing from the encounter.
I'd say this is far enough…
Without the girl realizing, five butterflies emerged from her bag and gracefully flew their way towards their creator. As they landed on Giorno's fingers, they each reverted back to their original form, ten-thousand yen notes.
I'd like to avoid having to steal from civilians, but this is an emergency situation…
As he continued down the main boulevard of Musutafu, he noticed there were several people dressed in what he could only describe as superhero costumes. Although given the presence of these mysterious quirks, it wasn't a far leap in logic that they were actual "superheroes".
Or at the very least, the only people allowed to publicly use their abilities… Although I imagine even they are restricted to using such abilities solely in situations that require them, it's the only way a society of superhumans could function properly…
It would have been helpful to ask one of them directly what their exact role was, but doing so would draw far too much attention to himself. It was obvious that they served a core function in this alternate Japan, and showing ignorance on the topic would likely be met with suspicion. The mystery behind quirks and costumed heroes would have to wait until he had means to research on his own.
In the midst of his thoughts, Giorno was snapped back into focus by a blood-curdling scream from down the street. After focusing his eyes on what laid in the distance, he saw what could only be described as a giant sludge monster.
What the hell is that thing? My initial idea of how much a quirk could mutate a human body was clearly wrong, assuming that thing over there is human at all… What does it even hope to accomplish? We're in the middle of one of Japan's most populated areas, there should be more of those costumed quirk users all over the place…
After picking up his pace to a moderate jog, his eyes were able to discern what had everyone in a panic. There was a boy with blonde spiky hair, not much younger than Giorno himself, trapped in the center of the sludge monster.
*BOOM*
Unexpectedly, the sludge monster released a powerful explosion in the direction of a few heroes who had arrived on the scene. To Giorno's shock, none of them made a move towards saving the captive boy.
There was a lady of mountainous proportions who had approached the scene, but the size of the street she was coming from didn't allow her to get close enough. A man with tree like appendages was grabbing civilians and bringing them to safety, yet Giorno knew immediately that his ability was a bad matchup for the explosions. It seemed like the other heroes we're working on establishing a perimeter and keeping the damage from spreading, as none of them had a means to combat the dangerous enemy.
Either the sludge monster has an additional ability of explosion manipulation, or more likely, he's taken control of that boy and his quirk… That's a problematic ability in a world full of people with extraordinary powers…
Seeing this all unfold before him, Giorno hadn't even realized that he had broken into a full sprint towards the sludge monster.
This is illogical! There are already first responders on the scene, there's a reason they haven't acted yet… The explosions are too potent and unpredictable to get close unless you have an ability that can counter them!
It was then that he realized, with his stand power, he could take the sludge monster down.
Who am I to let this kid die when I have the capacity to save him? The only problem is drawing too much attention, yet none of these people can see my stand… I can do this without revealing myself!
At this point, Giorno was only about a hundred feet away from the sludge monster, but it was clear that the boy was running out of time. He didn't know for certain how long he had been trapped inside the monster, but given the intensity of the situation, the boy was likely running out of oxygen.
As he drew nearer, formulating a plan of attack in his mind, he saw someone do the unthinkable. It was another kid, who had a crop of messy green hair, running towards the monster, pushing through any bystanders that got in the way.
What is he thinking?! Surely he realized there's a reason no one else has acted yet!?
The sludge monster was clearly about to attack him as he approached, yet surprisingly, the green haired boy threw his backpack at just the right angle to hit the monster in its eye. It left enough of an opening for him to close the distance, although what he would attempt next was anyone's best guess.
Does he have a way to defeat the sludge monster, or is he suicidal?!
He was erring on the second option as all the poor boy managed to do was tear at the monster's sludgy body in a vain attempt to free his peer. The sludge villain reacted with a blind rage, having been temporarily blinded by a mere child. Once Giorno saw his tentacle-like appendages begin aiming at the attempted rescuer, it was obvious what was coming next.
There's no time left!
"Gold Experience!"
…
I bit of a cliffhanger, I know. True Jojo fans will know what Giorno does in the next chapter, but I'll leave it at that. This story is still very much in the concept phase, so if there's any suggestions or criticisms you have, please let me know in a review. It's the only real feedback I get besides watching a follows or favorites number go up. I realize I'm dipping into two pretty popular fandoms with this crossover, so i want to make sure I don't step on the toes of either community, more specifically MHA since I'm less knowledgeable on it than Jojo. Fans of either series, please let me know if I get something wrong. Once again, thanks for reading.
