AN = Here you go.
"Ayanokouji-kun, stop staring outside the window."
It came. It came again. The annoying voice of a self-proclaimed genius who also happens to be my unfortunate self's seatmate.
As I continued to ignore its existence, it came again.
"Ayanokouji-kun, Are you listening to me?"
Drowning her voice along with the noise from the class, I immersed myself in gazing outside the window, hoping for a rare bird to fly across. Or an aeroplane to crash into the school.
Considering the behaviour of the class, either would be welcomed at this point.
It hadn't even taken two weeks after the opening ceremony for the class to look more like a zoo than a classroom. Save a few, most of the students were carefree and relaxed, realizing that the teacher wouldn't even bother to scold or punish them if they didn't pay attention. They were ignorant enough to believe that they would receive 100,000 points every month, free of charge and would never have to pay attention in the class.
Their ignorance knew no bounds.
And the most amusing was that some people like Yamauchi believed that they deserved these luxuries for being able to enter the school of the elites. If their ignorance was high, their arrogance was higher.
My thinking was distracted by the cold sensation on my right arm as if something was poking my skin and the wetness in my arm. Looking towards the mentioned side, a cold-blooded devil by the name of Horikita was looking at me with a compass in her hand. The compass was coated with something dark crimson and ominous.
Oh.
It's my blood.
A glance at the dark spot in my right arm sleeve proved my thoughts to be correct. This girl had stabbed me with a compass for no reason that I knew off. Sitting beside me with a displeased face and a bloody compass hidden in hand, she looked every bit of a murderer.
I sighed a bit before facing her, my mind flooded with thoughts on how hard it would be to get the blood off my clothes.
"Why did you stab me? It hurts."
"Don't lie. You didn't even flinch or react at all. You have very high pain tolerance, it seems."
"I have trouble expressing myself. Anyways, why did you stab me so much? Three times to be exact."
"I was calling you and you continued to ignore me. That's why I gave you a physical awakening."
Seriously? You stabbed me for that?
I sighed to clear my mind of unnecessary emotions before replying. "That doesn't give you the right to stab me. You could just have poked me with your hand or something. There was no need for you to use a lethal object."
She replied back without hesitation. "It's not like you can do anything, can you? You were ignoring me so I took it upon myself to teach you about manners."
That's a pretty twisted mentality which combined with a superiority complex makes her hard to talk to patiently. Nevertheless, I continued, just to see how her mind works. All for the future plans.
"I could complain to the school about you physically bullying me."
"You don't have any evidence. And I could just twist the story to make it seem as if I was in the right. Even the 4 cameras in the classroom would not be able to see me stab you because I hid it immediately. I have the upper hand here."
She noticed the cameras then? While it's true that she hid it expertly from the 4 cameras, who said that there were only 4 cameras? Glancing upwards to the left, I saw another camera expertly concealed in the paint of the walls, blinking innocently.
Also, my bloody arm would probably act as evidence too. How can she even forget that?
Sighing in disappointment, I stood up and shouldered the bag whale departing towards the door crowded with many students going towards the cafeteria in hopes of spending the money they apparently deserved.
Taking a glance back at Horikita, a smug face could be seen. It seems that she has declared herself the winner of the argument all by herself, taking my departure as me giving up.
Inwardly smirking, I caught up with the lone figure of Kuroko heading towards the cafeteria. Taking out my phone from my pocket, I stopped the hour-long voice recording of the lesson which conveniently also had Horikita's confession.
The joys of the era of voice recording are ceaseless.
[Timeskip]
April 31st.
The last day of the first month of High School. Or the last day in the calm before the storm that a few of us had predicted would strike our class tomorrow. Entering the classroom, I looked around a bit before heading to my seat.
"They will have a huge shock in less than 24 hours, don't you think?"
A voice came from the seat in front of me by the ever so invisible guy. I responded back to ensure the continuity of the conversation.
"Yeah. especially Ike and Yamauchi's reaction would be amusing."
"You two probably won't even laugh."
Tatsuya, who was sitting diagonally from us, butted in during the conversation.
"True. But that doesn't mean we can't find it funny."
"Sensei is here." An interjection came from Kuroko before we could even start arguing again.
Such a pity. It's always fun to argue with Tatsuya.
"Everyone, be quiet— Today's class will be more serious." Sensei's voice came from the front.
"What do you mean~ Sae-chan-sensei~"
Oh, now that I remember, she was already given a nickname by the class.
"It's the end of the month. We will have a short test. Pass these to the back."
She handed out papers to the first row. Eventually, the test reached my desk. The test had several questions from each of the 5 major topics.
"Eh~ I didn't hear anything~. I don't wanna take it~"
"Calm down. This test is only for future reference. It will not be reflected on your report card. There's no risk, so be at ease. However, cheating is naturally prohibited."
There was a slightly strange phrase included in her words. Normally, grades are reflected only in the report card. However, Chiyabashira-sensei's words are a bit different. It looks like she's implying that these grades won't be reported on our report card, but will be reported in some other way.
Once the test started, I looked through the questions. 20 questions, 4 per section, and 5 points per question for a total of 100 points. However, the questions were extraordinarily easy, and so it felt anticlimactic. Or that was just me.
The questions on this test are about 2 levels below the entrance exam questions. Everything here is too simple.
But about 3 questions on the test were harder than the others. The last two math problems probably can't be solved without using complicated formulas. They would be extremely difficult for a normal high school student to solve.
"No... Why are these problems so hard..."
These are clearly not for first-year high school students. The last three questions are of a different nature; it wouldn't be surprising if they were put on by mistake.
With the rising difficulty in each progressive question, This could be the chance for the school to separate the students academically.
Or was this the whole purpose of the test? To separate the smarter students from the academically dumber ones?
What if...
I sighed a bit before calming my thoughts. Overthinking this would do no good for me and I need to complete this quiz as normally as possible.
I'll just solve these problems the same way I did on the entrance exam.
Chiyabashira-sensei was monitoring the students as she walked around the classroom. I glanced at Horikita, watching her steadily fill in the answers to the questions. Looks like she'll get perfect marks.
Tatsuya and his sister were the same, having completed the question paper and sitting silently. The siblings turned out to be geniuses too.
Finishing it normally, I too kept looking at the test paper until the final bell sounded, my thoughts wandering to places never explored before.
Word count=1431
A.N.= Another one done! This was too short but the next one would probably be a big one. Exams have delayed the updating schedule but it would be back to normal from the next chapter.
Any ideas are appreciated, don't hesitate to ask questions and Follow and Fav if you like it.
That's all.
Bye.
