Chapter 3: Sabrina's Legacy
Kendra is in her room to be asleep to be dreaming of her times in the early days of her training in the Saffron City gym where Sabrina was training her and others to be Gym trainers.
-Flashback Begins-
10-year-old Kendra is in one of the training rooms in the Saffron Gym to have three Psychic Pokemon she is training with. Her Staryu, Woobat, and Kirlia are within her party with Kirlia being the oldest Pokemon she has ever gotten to rescue her from the forest as a Ralts to name her Lily for now onward.
"They don't understand," Kendra said as the other trainers keep clear of her due to her weird appearance like her thick dark hair, pale skin, and loose purple dress making her look like a ghost just floating in the background not wanting to be noticed.
"You fought with your parents?" Lily asked to be bonded with her via their telepathy since they first meet. She quickly became like her big sister always watching out for her.
"Yes, they freak out when I can't control my powers. Things move around, my father having blackouts or me spreading negative feelings," Kendra said feeling very sad.
"Don't worry, we will keep your powers under control. I and your mistress will aid you," Lily said as Kendra nods her head.
"Yes, I will do my best," she said as the 10-year-old Kendra looks over to see her Mistress Sabrina coming in to greet everyone.
"Okay everyone, your lessons are about to begin. Your journey to being Gym Trainers are beginning and maybe one day you will take over to be my successor," Sabrina said as Kendra is wondering about that.
"Successor?" she wondered.
"Are you okay Kendra?" Sabrina asked to show some concern.
"Well, I had a fight with my parents and they were scared of my psychic powers," the little girl said as the older woman sympathize with the struggles of her past and powers.
"I understand, I was mocked for my gifts too, and soon with hard work. People will respect you in time," Sabrina said as this touched the young girl.
"Really?" Little Kendra has her doubts about this as she was mocked for being a very weird girl almost like a ghost in terms of her disposition.
"Yes, I will help you calm down your mind. That is a key to controlling your psychic powers," Sabrina said.
"Okay mistress Sabrina, I will do my best," Kendra said as she smiles for the Gym Leader takes her by the hand to lead her into the main area to prepare her to be a proper Gym Trainer.
-Flashback Ends-
Morning has come for Kendra to wake up from her slumber to hold onto her forehead. "Those memories were in the Saffron Gym, that seems so long ago," Kendra said as she ponders her thoughts to remember her times at the gym all the training and raising her Pokemon to be a proper Gym trainer but in one battle ruined her life.
"After that, I became the town freak show and everyone wants to come over to take a look," Kendra said. She always wanted to be left alone but now people try to go into her ground to get a picture of the ghoulish woman with dark messy hair and deathly pale skin looking like a ghost.
She gets out of bed to head to get breakfast to see Lily at the table in the dining room drinking her tea. "Good Morning Mistress," Lily said to give her warm feelings within her mind.
"Morning Lily, where are Leaf and Michael?" she asked.
"Oh, Leaf left early to meet with an old friend in Vermillion City. Michael is still in his bed, you should wake him up," Lily said as Kendra is confused by this.
"Old Friend?" Kendra asked.
"Oh yes, they go way back. She is from the Johto region up north, her name is Lyra. She is one of the top Pokemon Trainers in Johto and they are good friends," Lily said.
"I see, I hope she is getting to help, We need all the help we can get," Kendra said as she goes off to wake up Michael to get him ready to eat breakfast. Lily can sense someone familiar but doesn't feel malice from her like other people who came to the grounds.
Sabrina is within the grounds to feel Kendra's presence to feel something odd. "Strange, she feels much calm than before. That is positive," Sabrina said as she walks up through the mist. Lily can sense her mistress's teacher disengaging her move allowing her to walk through the grounds to head to the mansion.
Elsewhere Leaf is in a coffee shop to meet up with a longtime friend as she turns around to see a girl around her age coming to greet her. She is standing 5'1 tall, brown hair with pigtails and matching brown eyes along with fair skin. "Hey Lyre, what's up?" Leaf greeted her as the young woman goes up to Leaf to hug her.
"Hey there girl, it's been a while. Miss Champion," Lyra said as they backed up for Leaf looked over Lyre's outfit.
"You look so cute," she said as Lyra is sporting a white cap on her hair, a red t-shirt underneath a pair of blue short overalls, white knee socks, and red sneakers.
"Thanks, I just brought it. You look adorable too," Lyra said as Leaf is wearing a simple black dress reaching her knees.
"Thanks, let's sit down and chat," Leaf said as they sit at the tables to order some foods to enjoy each other's company. "How was your trip down from Johto?" she asked as the waiter delivers a plate of garlic bread and pepperoni and cheese-filled crescents.
"Pretty normal thankfully since all of the stuff happening here in Kanto recently," she said as she takes a bite out of the pepperoni crescent for her mouth is exploding with flavor. "This tastes so good," she said enjoying her meal.
"So, you saw the news?" Leaf asked as she bites into her garlic bread to wash it down with berry juice. "Damn that tastes good," she said.
"Yeah it did, some group called Cipher attacked Vermillion city and Saffron city in big terrorist attacks. It's insane, several people were killed and Pokemon being stolen in mass," Lyra said as she feels bad about this.
"Yeah this is bad but we are fighting back. Lyra, we can use your help with this one. You are pretty strong and you helped with defeating Team Rocket years ago," Leaf said as Lyra nods her head.
"Of course, we are besties. I always have your back," Lyra said as Leaf smiled at this.
"Thanks, another strong trainer is always useful," Leaf said.
"You got others on our side," she said.
'We got Michael, who you know already and Kendra who is a powerful Gym Trainer from Saffron City," Leaf said as Lyra remembers that name.
"Hey, it's that trainer you defeated when you were first coming to a Pokemon Trainer in Kanto. You told me it was a hard battle," Lyra said.
"Oh yes, she is Sabrina's best trainer I fought there," Leaf remembers her trials within the Saffron Gym with her facing off against an awkward yet quiet young girl.
-Flashback Begins-
11-year-old Leaf is going deep within the Saffron Gym fighting off all the Gym Trainers to get near the end. She managed to heal all her Pokemon to get ready for her last fight before fighting Sabrina.
"Halt, you have to face me before fighting my mistress," a quiet voice said as Leaf finds a slightly older girl blocking her path to sport a purple dress and long dark hair matching her pale skin.
"So, you are the last one right?" Leaf asked.
"Yes, I am Kendra. I will defend Sabrina with my Pokemon," 12-year-old Kendra tosses her poke ball to reveal Woobat to fly beside her.
"A Woobat, that is pretty simple," Leaf tosses a poke ball to summon a Ninetales which Kendra is a bit worried about it.
"That seems pretty strong. I need to think about this carefully," Kendra said as Woobat goes on the offensive to unleash soundwaves but the Ninetales can dodge and used a strong Quick Attack to tackle the bat to knock it away.
"Woobat, Confuse Ray," she ordered with her mind as the psychic bat lobs a wave of sounds to hit the fox slowing it down and making it dumbfounded on what to do next.
"You got to be kidding me," Leaf said as Kendra presses the attack with Woobat using Heart Stamp to hit the fire fox hard doing some damage.
"Sonic Boom," she mentally ordered as her Woobat unleashes a sound wave that launches the Ninetails across the room. Soon enough the fox regains its senses and presses onto the attack with it using Flamethrowers trying to burn the flying Woobat.
Kendra orders the bat to get away but gets caught getting serious burns. "Got it, finish it off," Leaf ordered as Ninetails uses a Quick Attack to take down the Woobat making it faint.
"Poor thing, you did your best," she pulls it back into its ball. She tosses another poke ball as she summons a Starmie which Leaf is not liking.
"Surf," Kendra said as her Starmie unleashes a huge wave that Ninetales can't avoid getting swept away taking heavy damage enough to make it faint.
"Shoot," Leaf said as she withdraws her Pokemon to switch for her Jolteon. Her lighting fox goes onto the offensive with Starmie shooting beams of water with Jolteon dodging its assault. "Go Volt Tackle," she commanded with Jolteon surrounded itself with a lightning aura about to slam into Starmie.
"Guard on," she ordered as the starfish puts up a psychic barrier to brace for impact. Jolteon slams into the Starmie to hit its target but Starmie manages to tank it barely. "Go Rapid Spin," she commanded as her Starmie spins its around to slash into Jolteon who is unable to dodge due to the recoil of the barrier making it lose balance for a moment.
"Interesting, Quick Attack," Leaf said as Jolteon is using its speed to head for the Starmie. Kendra's Starmie is preparing for a psychic barrier to block its next move.
Jolteon lobs bolts of lightning to break down the barrier until it breaks. The Jolteon uses a swift tackle to hit the starfish and knock it into the air leaving it vulnerable.
Jolteon uses Thunderbolt to give it a big shock dealing with a super effective hit greatly weakening the Starmie.
"Recover," Starmie uses its energy to heal almost all its wounds to press the attack with beams of water. Jolteon is evading the moves with Starmie using Lock-On to get a track on the speedy fox.
"Psychic," Kendra said as Starmie strikes down Jolteon with a powerful psychic shove to knock it into a wall. Starmie takes a grip on the Jolteon to use Psyshock to unleash pulses of energy into its body to drain away its energy.
Leaf is feeling the pressure as Kendra is not a regular trainer within this Gym. "Get out of the way," Leaf tries to order a retreat but Jolteon is held hostage via Starmie's psychic grip.
"Hydro Pump," Kendra ordered as her Starmie unleashes a powerful jet of water to slam into the fox to knock it into a wall instantly knocking it out cold. "Don't underestimate me, I will guard Sabrina," Kendra said as she is very focused.
"Okay, got this. Dragonair," Leaf summons her dragon Pokemon who looks very powerful. "Thunder Wave," Dragonair hits the Starmie with a wave of electricity to stun it in place. "Dragon Pulse," Dragonair unleashes blue flames to engulf the Starmie to knock it out.
"Oh gee," Kendra said as she returns the Pokemon to its ball. "Lily let's go," Kendra said as Kirlia is watching from the shadows for Leaf is spooked by her presence.
"She was there the whole time," Leaf is uneasy with this little Pokemon sporting powerful psychic powers.
"I am ready Kendra, Swift," Lily unleashes a storm of energy stars to crash into the dragon peppering it with powerful attacks.
"Oh boy, that girl got some power behind her," Leaf said as Dragonair is evading the energy stars. Dragonair uses Drago Pulse to score a direct hit on Lily. Leaf is surprised to see the psychic Pokemon is unharmed by the dragon's move.
"Thankfully Lily is half Fairy and they are immune to Dragon moves. Speaking of which," Kendra works with Lily via telepathy giving her orders.
"Misty Terrain," Lily said as she summons a thick mist filled with mystical energy for Dragonair is getting weaker under the influence of the mist. While her fairy moves get even stronger than before under the power of the mist. "Dazzling Gleam," Lily unleashes powerful rays of rainbow light to seek down Dragonair heavily damaging it.
"Shoot, that hits hard. Recover," Leaf said as Dragonair begins to heal with the Kirlia using Double Team to make illusions making it hard to tell which one is real within this thick mystic mist. "Seriously," she said as her Dragonair is shooting fire to only hit copies.
"Fairy Wind," Kirlia jumps on top of the Dragonair's head to unleash a gust of magical winds to pepper the dragon for her fairy powers are rapidly weakening the powerful dragon type.
She then tosses psychic blasts to slam it into the ground unleashing a more powerful blast with each hit creating a bigger crater.
"Eat this," Lily said as she hits the Dragonair with a powerful psychic blast and then follow up with a Dazzling Gleam striking down the dragon with flashes of rainbow lights.
Leaf returns the Dragonair to her Poke Ball as she calls out her Blastoise to go onto the field. "Okay let's good Withdraw," Leaf said as the big turtle goes into her shell. "Iron Defense," Leaf's Blastoise hardened her shell.
Lily tosses beams of rainbow light against the armored shell doing little damage. "She's up to something," Kendra said.
"Aqua Jet," Leaf said as the Blastoise swiftly launches at the Kirlia to slam into her. Both females were surprised by Blastoise's raw speed. Lily gets back onto her feet as she took a huge hit with the Blastoise coming at her with rapid speed.
The Kirlia is using her psychic powers to hold back the huge turtle but the heavyweight is becoming a problem.
"Rapid Spin," the shell of the Blastoise begins to spin at fast paces. "Surf," there are loads of water shooting out of the holes of the shell. Kirlia gets swept up by the waves to slam into a wall taking more damage.
"Moonlight," Kirlia is absorbing the mist's power into herself to recover her wounds going back to normal. "Dazzling Gleam," she tosses more powerful beams of rainbow light to push back the incoming spinning turtle shell.
She uses Psychic to slam into the shell to lift it barely and slam it down onto the ground. "Bubblebeam," Blastoise uncurls out of her shell to unleash a barrage of bubbles from her mouth. Lily is moving away from the bubbles with dance-like grace to blast them away with Fairy and Psychic moves.
One of the bubbles got through to trap her inside it as Blastoise follows up with a big Skull Bash connecting very hard on impact. Kirlia gets sent flying across the vast room. Kendra is very worried about her best friend getting hurt like this.
"Lily, you are badly injured," Kendra said as she barely gets back up to feeling very tired with Blastoise preparing her cannons to finish the fight.
"I can still fight," Lily said as she sees the Blastoise preparing to use Hydro Pump. "I need to deflect it," Kirlia powers up her move to match her opponent as she absorbs the mist within herself.
"Hydro Pump," Blastoise unleashes twin jets of water heading for the Kirlia.
"Moonblast," She makes an orb of moonlight to toss it into one of the water jets. The two moves clash and cancel each other out with one Hydro Pump still heading for the Kirlia. She catches the beam in mid-air but in her weakened state can barely hold it off. "Reflect," she bounces the beam to the side as she is on her knees feeling drained.
Blastoise uses a Bubblebeam to pepper Lily with explosive bubbles to finally knock the little Pokemon down. "Damn it, I am sorry," Lily gets flung across the room for Kendra to catch the little Pokemon in her skinny arms.
"Goodness, you are bad. You should have stopped," Kendra said as Lily hugs her chest to rest her head on it.
"I just want to do my best for you Mistress," Lily said as she looks up at her mistress to show tears of pain.
"You did and now rest," Kendra said as she kisses her on the forehead. Leaf redraws her Pokemon onto the Poke ball to approach Kendra to reach out her hand.
"That was a good match, one of the best I had for a while," Leaf said as Kendra looks at the hand feeling shy, and turns away.
"Sorry, I need to tend to my Pokemon. My mistress is up ahead, good match by the way," Kendra said as she walks away with leaf thinking she is odd but seems to be nice with her Pokemon.
"Okay, I need to heal up my team and tackle the main leader," Leaf heads to face off against the Gym Leader Saffron.
-Flashback Ends-
Leaf finished her story with Lyra being very impressed. "Damn, Kendra is quite the trainer despite being pretty odd. I would love to meet her," Lyra said.
"You will soon, she and Michael are back at her mansion. Getting pretty cozy I bet," Leaf said.
"Oh, those two have a thing for each other?" she asked.
"Oh, it's very obvious what is going on. It's cute, so I push them when I can. Kendra doesn't have any friends and things get pretty awkward," Leaf said.
"Can I see what she looks like?" she asked as Leaf pulls out her smartphone to show her a picture of Kendra. Lyra is very surprised by her appearance to see this ghostly girl being very buxom in her purple dress along with long thick hair and ghostly pale skin.
"Damn, this woman got some knockers on her. I can see why Mike likes her," Lyra said as she looks down at her chest which is a modest 32B cup compared to Kendra's huge 38H cup.
"Yeah, but she is very awkward and odd. She doesn't have any friends due to things happening in her past," Leaf said as she remembers the Saffron Gym is currently active now before it was destroyed by Kendra's psychic surge a few years ago due to an accident.
"Well, we can easily fix that. We girls got to stick together," Lyra said.
"You know it, thankfully Michael is pretty gentle with her. She is in good hands," Leaf said.
"Yeah, Mike is a good dude. Can't wait to see him again," Lyra said as the girls hang out at the café to catch up.
Elsewhere Sabrina is at door to press the doorbell. Kendra hears this as she can feel her former boss's presence. "She is here," she goes up to the door to unlock it and sees the stoic Gym Trainer standing over her. "Hello Mistress Sabrina, it's been a long time since the destruction of the gym," Kendra said as Sabrina places a comforting hand on her shoulder trying to put her at ease.
"It's okay, I am not here for a fight. I want to talk with you," Sabrina said as she enters her home. "This place hasn't changed except being dustier," Sabrina said.
"Yeah, no one servants are here anymore. I let them go," Kendra said.
"Seems like you are doing well for yourself. I heard the news about you and a group of friends fighting back against Cipher appearing all over Kanto," Sabrina said as they go into the living room. They sit on the couch.
"Yes. I and my new friends are fighting back against Cipher. I am being useful for once," Kendra said as Sabrina pities the young woman.
"You know I didn't do what I did out of malice right?" Sabrina asked.
"I know, you let me go to protect the town. I understand what you did but it still hurts," Kendra said.
"It would be a PR nightmare to keep you in my trainer program yet you still live with the pain of losing control of your powers. Causing hurt for others in the progress," Sabrina said as Kendra closes her eyes to remember years ago of her in a match against a trainer looking to gain the Marsh Badge.
A move went wrong with the trainer's Pokemon and Kendra got caught by it slamming into a wall. This made her psychic power lose control and this energy surge destroyed the Gym hurting a lot of people. The last thing she saw before leaving was Sabrina's face filled with disappointment and pity.
"Yeah, I want to put that past behind me," Kendra said as Sabrina noticed she has become calmer now.
"Indeed, we both got what we wanted. I got my Gym back and running with you gaining new friends and purpose. We both win," Sabrina said.
"Despite the pain, I went through, I managed and I feel better these days," Kendra said as Mike comes into the living room.
"Oh, we got the guest and the Gym Leader Sabrina herself. Nice to meet you," Mike said as Sabrina did sense someone new here.
"So, he is your friend right?" Sabrina asked.
"He is a very special friend," Kendra said as she has a sheepish look on her face with a big blush on her face.
"Special huh, there is a deeper connection going on here," Sabrina thought as she has a small smile on her face.
"I wish I can fight you sometime," Michael said.
"That would have to wait. I want you to come to the Gym and fight me," Sabrina said with Kendra is surprised by this.
"Mistress Sabrina, why?" Kendra asked.
"You have changed Kendra and I can tell recent events have changed you for the better. I want to see that combined with your skills on the Gym floor. You were my top student and still are today. I want to see how far you have come," Sabrina said.
"Mistress, I will do it. I will take up your challenge," Kendra said as Sabrina nods her head.
"Perfect, I want to test your skill and resolve. Prepare and I will take you to the Gym soon," Sabrina said as Kendra nods her head to head to her room to get ready.
"Why are you doing this?" Mike asked as Sabrina can sense his concern for Kendra.
"I sensed greatness within Kendra and she needed guidance due to her psychic gifts. Most people can't understand this and I took her under my wing. She was amazing and very gifted in training Pokemon. She was the one who guarded me just before a trainer faced me," Sabrina said.
"What you did was harsh, you should have stuck by her," Mike said being a big upset with that.
"Yes, but my hands were tied and I had no choice. Thankfully her fire hasn't been put out. Seems like I have you to thank for that," Sabrina said.
"Right, she is strong and kind despite her oddness but even then there is a charm in that as well," Michael said as Sabrina can sense Michael truly cares about Kendra.
"Yes, and I am happy she has people who care for her despite her quirkiness," Sabrina said as Mike can feel the softness in her stoic voice for this put his mind at ease.
"Right, thanks for training her," Mike said.
"Don't thank me, all I did was bring out something that was always there before. It's all on Kendra to mold it into something great," Sabrina said as Mike looks over to see Lily nearby.
"Hello there Mistress Sabrina," Lily said as Sabrina looks over to see the familiar Lily who has fully evolved.
"Hello Lily, you have grown quite strong and graceful," Sabrina said.
"Yes I did, all due to Mistress Kendra's hard work," Lily said.
"Good to know with everything happening, we need all the help we can get. Cipher is not Team Rocket, they are a worldwide criminal empire that has its reach all over the world," Sabrina said. Mike knows Wes only took out the Orre Region section of Cipher even then they still linger there to this day.
"Yeah like a pest, can't get rid of them so easily," Mike said as he is already dressed up with Kendra coming down the stairs to sport her favorite purple dress hugging her body, and her long hair still unkempt.
"I am ready to go," Kendra said as Sabrina nods her head for Mike, Sabrina, Kendra, and Lily to head off to the Gym.
Elsewhere Grace and her team are within the city of Saffron to look at a digital billboard showing a big match with Sabrina and her former student Kendra. "Oh, a stage where the world can see your death sentence," Grace laughs to herself to enjoy the show.
Within the Sevii Islands south of Kanto, Lovrina is on a ship to be tracking down Mewtwo who is on a small island. She heads within the island cave via speed boat to approach the powerful Pokemon who has defeated and killed several grunts and their Pokemon.
"What do you want Human?" Mewtwo asked to speak within her Lovrina.
"I am here to take you away," Lovrina said as she is not fazed by his powerful pressure.
"I doubt you can contain me," Mewtwo unleashes a psychic surge to hit Lovrina. She is not pleased with his answer for she was protected by an energy barrier. Then a mighty roar echoes through the huge cave as Shadow Lugia appears behind her and casts Protect on her.
"See you misunderstand Mewtwo. Unless Team Rocket, I have the means to make you submit and you will be a weapon for the glory of Cipher. Shadow Lugia, show him true pain," Lovrina gives the orders as Shadow Lugia fires a Hyper Beam. Mewtwo summons an energy barrier to block it but gets pushed back by Shadow Lugia's raw power and surprising ruthlessness.
"What have you done?" Mewtwo questioned as the pink-haired woman has a nasty smile on her pretty face.
"Once I get my hands on you, you will know what power is," Lovrina said as Lugia tackles Mewtwo to knock him into the ceiling and fires a close-range Hypro Pump from its beak to hit the target. Mewtwo is pushing Mewtwo through the rocks and punching a big hole at the top of the mountain. Mewtwo is outside floating above the island with a wide ocean around him.
Shadow Lugia smashes through the mountain to unleash Shadow Blast unleashing dark winds ripping up the sky. Mewtwo gets blown away by the fierce winds with the sky begins to go dark with Lugia flaring up its true power.
Lugia uses Rain Dance to summon a rainstorm around as it presses the attack. Mewtwo uses telekinesis to lift several rocks along with psychic attacks to only slow down Shadow Lugia.
Shadow Lugia flaps its wings to release sharp winds to knock back Mewtwo as twisters are appearing around the corrupt Legendary bird. Shadow Lugia unleashes another Hyper Beam to aim for Mewtwo.
Mewtwo is about to use Reflect but Shadow Lugia uses Shadow Shed which a dark force strips it away. "What?!" Mewtwo is surprised for he took the full force of Shadow Lugia's Hyper Beam causing severe damage.
Lugia flings the twisters at Mewtwo to be damaged even further. Lovrina looks on to be very sure Mewtwo will fall very soon.
Mewtwo is getting pushed as the large bird is overpowering him as he is blocking wind and water attacks. Lugia uses its psychic power to pierce through Mewtwo's barrier and toss him into the water. Lugia built up power into its next attack and unleash a Hyper Beam at the ocean. The move connects releasing such heat it vaporizes that section of the ocean.
Mewtwo managed to use a barrier but sheer power of the attack and intense vaporization of the water was too much. He faints from the combat and has bruises, burns, and bloody cuts all over his body.
Lovrina looks smug about her victory to bring her boat next to Mewtwo. "You should have listened to me," Lovrina tosses the Master Ball to capture him and bring it on deck.
"Mistress, why didn't you use the Master Ball before?" an Elite Peon asked.
"I need to show him humbleness to make him know his place on the chopping block," the pink-haired woman said.
"Of course, madam, nicely done. Shadow Lugia is quite the powerhouse," he said.
"Yes it is, all the raw power of a legendary without any mercy," Lovrina said as they go inside to see the screen has news about the Gym Leaders of Kanto and Johto going to a meeting in the Pokemon HQ in Kanto.
"Madam, what do we do with the Gym Leaders?" the Elite Peon asked as Lovrina's lovely face has a nasty grin on it.
"They will have an explosive welcome from us. Anyway, we have gotten our prize, and now back to the main ship," Lovrina ordered as they drive away back to the mobile HQ in Kanto.
Elsewhere Lyra and Leaf are still in Vermillion City to check out the Pokemon center which has been restored to normal. "Thank goodness but Surge is still deeply injured," Lyra said as she heard about this from the news
"Well, hopefully, he will be back up in no time. This city needs a Gym Leader along with Gym Trainers to keep the peace along with the peacekeeping forces. Cipher is no joke," Leaf said.
"Let's not talk about dark stuff. I want to show you some of the Pokemon I got from my travels abroad," Lyra said as Leaf is excited to see them in person.
"Oh cool, I want to see your exotic Pokemon," Leaf said with stars in her eyes.
"Okay," she tossed her Poke balls to reveal the best lineup she is currently using now. You already know my Raichu, Roserade, Sableye, Lobunny, and Altaria. Here are my new newcomers Primarina and Salazzle," she said as Leaf is impressed by Primarina's cuteness.
"Oh, she is so cute, she is a mermaid seal," Leaf said.
"Yes, she is one of the starter Pokemon in Alola Islands. I managed to catch this beauty when I was visiting there. She has a wonderful singing voice," Lyra said as Leaf pets her on the head to run her fingers through her blue hair.
"You are so cute," Leaf said as Primarina is cooing at her petting with the toxic female lizard showing signs of envy shoving the seal mermaid away for she wants to be petted. "Just very rude," Leaf said.
"Yeah, she is a prima donna. This is a species I got from Alola as well. She is pretty strong and it is very female-focused with the females being the only ones who can evolve," Lyra said.
"That's interesting," Leaf said.
"It's kind of crazy that the females control the whole group and make entire reverse harems out of the males," Lyra said as Leaf felt weirded out by that.
"Pervy lizard," Leaf said as Salazzle dismisses her to walk away. Lyra gets her Pokemon back into their balls. "Come on, we can head over there to see a movie," she points to a movie theater.
"Oh cool, I hope there is something good there," Lyra said as the two friends head inside to enjoy themselves.
Back with Michael, Sabrina, Kendra, and Lily to be within the Saffron Gym for the double battle match that is going to begin. Kendra is in the locker room that she used to be in so long ago. She has chosen her Pokemon Gardevoir aka Lily and Dragapult for the double battle.
"Time for the moment of truth," Kendra said as she pets her ghost dragon seeing him cooing at her touch.
"We can do this Mistress; we are not like we were years ago. We are stronger now," Lily said as Kendra gives her Gardevoir a big hug.
"You are right, let's do this," Kendra said as they go into the main area to see a big crowd of people waiting for the match to begin.
Michael is in the crowd in the stands surrounding the arena. Everyone surrounding them looks at Kendra with disgust or disinterest. "Who the hell is this weirdo?" a guy asked.
"It's that ghostly woman who lives in that haunted forest nearby the city," a girl said.
"Oh right, I bet Sabrina is going to crush this punk," the guy said.
"Damn man, she is so hot," a young man said to check at Kendra's very large chest and hips forming against her purple dress.
"Yeah, but she is very creepy looking and those crazy eyes. Not worth it," another guy said.
"I guess you are right," the guy said.
"Gee, this weird girl is going to be destroyed by Sabrina," a girl said.
"Not just in skill but terms of style. Look at that weird dress, messy hair, and deathly pale skin. She looks like a ghost," another girl said.
"I hope Sabrina shows her who is pathetic," the girl said. Michael doesn't like their rude comments but the battles will show for themselves.
"Kendra, show them what you are made of. You already fought worse," Mike having deep faith in her to win the Pokemon battle.
"Welcome everyone to the Gym Battle of Remembrance. I will be fighting my former top student Kendra in a double battle. We can only use two of our Pokemon, and both of our Pokemon get knocked out. That team loses," Sabrina said as she tosses her poke balls to summon Metagross and Alakazam onto the field. Sabrina looks onto the Gardevoir to see Lily has become very powerful and a new Pokemon who she is not familiar with.
"Welcome everyone to the main event here as Master and former student battle it out in this event. Let the match begin," the announcer said in the loudspeakers with the crowd cheering for Sabrina. Kendra was a bit anxious with everyone in the room being against her except a few.
"You can do it, Kendra. I believe in you," Kendra can hear his sweet words reaching her mind giving her calm and focus along with Lily supporting her as well. "Right, let's go," Kendra said as Metagross goes onto the attack with Alakazam sitting in the back to provide support to Metagross.
Lily and Dragapult clash with Metagross with Lily hitting it with Fairy move like Dazzling Gleam letting out rays of rainbow light to strike the big creature to push it back a bit. Dragapult uses Dragon Darts to shoot several Drippy at the metal creature to push it back. Then it follows up with a Shadow Ball to slam into the Metagross to cause some damage.
Kendra knows Psychic is very weak against Ghost types and her ghost dragon is perfect for this. Sabrina is a bit concerned that this unknown dragon is using Ghost moves. "Seems like you liking ghosts were true," Sabrina said.
"it's more my style anyway, Confuse Ray," Dragapult conjures rays of confusion to hit both opponents. Alakazam uses Teleport to get out of the way but Metagross took the hit becoming dumbfounded. "Hex," Kendra ordered as the ghost dragon unleashed a shadow force to slam into the metal beast which doubles in strength against it being confused.
"So tanky," Kendra said as Lily is going after the Alakazam to unleash a blast of psychic power. Alakazam matches Lily's telekinetic strike to be in a standoff. Both Pokemon try to overpower the other but cancel each other to send both flying across the room.
"Earthquake," Sabrina ordered as Alakazam uses its psychic power to float in the air to avoid getting hit. Metagross slams its forelimbs onto the ground to spill the ground unleash ground spikes.
"I need a ride," Lily said as the ghost dragon flies beside her to hop onto his back to avoid the move. Both Metagross and Alakazam use Psychic to try to overwhelm the two.
"Reflect," Lily cast a barrier to bounce the moves away leaving them unharmed. Alakazam uses Heal Pulse to recover Metagross's health to press the two. It uses Flash Cannon to unleash a beam of light with Dragapult matches it with Dragon Breath.
The moves clash but Dragapult manages to be punched through the beam and score a hit onto Metagross. "That Alakazam is going to keep healing Metagross while it eats hits. I need to take out Alakazam first," she thought as Lily hears her thoughts to agree with this.
"Got it," Lily leaps onto the ground to head for Alakazam. The enemy psychic is throwing psychic shoves with Lily using Double Team to cast illusions trying to confuse the Alakazam. All the clones get hit but Lily got close to unleashing a Moonblast but Alakazam uses Protect to block her move.
"Shit, it's going to keep using Protect to block any attacks," Kendra said as she has a clever move in her pocket for that. Alakazam lifts several rocks to toss them into Lily.
She pushes them aside with telekinesis as she gets hit with a telekinetic shove. She gracefully regains her balance as she slams another Dazzling Gleam with Alakazam using Protect to block it.
"Time to take out that Alakazam. Use Phantom Force," Kendra ordered as Dragapult vanished from sight to prepare for a powerful ghostly strike at the troublesome Alakazam. "Stand Strong Lily," Kendra encourages her as Lily is facing an onslaught of attacks. She is using her graceful moves and psychic power to deflect and guard against the two powerful Pokemon.
Lily lifts rocks to toss them into both as the opponents crush the flying rocks with their minds. Metagross fires another Flash Cannon. Lily catches it and deflects it back to knock the Metagross across the room to slam it into a wall.
Mike is seeing Kendra getting into her groove with Sabrina being impressed as well. The crowd is a bit shocked this weird woman has some skill while both of her Pokemon are powerful and well-trained.
Dragapult moves his move to become covered in dark ghostly energy to charge towards Alakazam. The psychic uses Protect again but Dragapult manages to fade through the barrier and slam into the psychic scoring a super effective critical hit.
The crowd is deeply surprised as Dragapult fires a close-range Shadow Ball to launch the Alakazam onto the ground to finally faint knocking it out of the battle. Some people are booing at her as Mike is pretty happy about this.
"Well played," Mike said.
"Well played indeed," Sabrina said as Metagross gets back onto its feet to be slammed with Shadow Balls and Moonblast weakening it further. Metagross uses Earthquake but both Pokemon avoid this with Dragapult using Will-O-Wisp to hit Metagross with ghostly flames to burn its metal hull.
"Moonblast," she gathers light energy into an orb and tosses it at the Metagross triggering a big blast on impact. Dragapult uses Hex to hit twice as hard against the burned Metagross making it get close to fainting.
"Drago Meteor," Kendra ordered the finishing blow for Dragapult roars to the ceiling to summon a barrage of falling meteors to rash into the Metagross triggering powerful explosions to flatten the last opponent.
"Well folks, this is surprising. Kendra has won the battle," the announcer said as the crowd is surprised and some even impressed by this weirdo managed to win against Sabrina's strongest Pokemon.
"Good work Hexy," Mike didn't doubt in his mind as Kendra can sense this warmth in her chest.
"Thank you, Michael. Lily and Dragapult as well. We did it," Kendra said as there is some booing at her despite her wonderful victory.
"Calm down, she won fair and square," Sabrina said as she goes up to her former student who has now become her equal. "I am proud of you; you were calm and controlled in the battle. Your Pokemon shows how well you trained them. You have been a great replacement for this gym if you stayed," Sabrina said.
"That is nice but I found my place with the others," Kendra looks lovingly at Mike as Sabrina understands.
"I can see that, you have grown for sure," Sabrina said as they feel a sudden shaking as an explosion rips apart a wall.
"Hello, Saffron, time for a real match," Grace appears for she uses a Burst Heart to transform into a Blastoise hybrid with an armored shell covering her body and having turtle-like features on her face and sporting a short tail. She has shoulder-mounted cannons to unleash beams of water to cut down a ton of people spreading chaos across the gym.
"Great, what next," Mike said as he sees a large Hydreigon beside Grace unleash powerful beams of darkness to kill even more people. Kendra can sense it's a Shadow Pokemon going on a rampage as Mike goes into his Hybrid State to fight it.
"Time to die, Sabrina," Grace goes into her shield to use Aqua Jet to speed towards them. Gardevoir uses Telekinesis to hold up the shelled hybrid. "Not going to work," Grace is pouring out water from her shell to overwhelm the two women, Dragapult and Lily to get swept up into the big wave.
Sabrina crashes onto the floor with Grace landing on her feet getting ready to kill her. "Hydro Cannon," Grace charges up her water move and fires twin water beams at Sabrina.
Sabrina tries to dodge but her left arm and shoulder were hit leaving behind a bloody stump. Kendra knocks her down to see it was too late. "Damn it," Kendra said as Sabrina is bleeding out fast.
Dragapult is spitting Shadow Balls with Lily backing him up with Psychic strikes. "Why did you do this?" Kendra asked.
"All for Cipher, we need to make a statement and her death is one of those," Grace summons waves of water to sweep up Dragapult with Lily using her psychic powers to hold off. The rapid assault of water keeps pushing her back but keeps on going with Dragapult giving backup.
"Kendra, I feel cold," Sabrina said as Kendra is helpless to stop the bleeding with Sabrina's face drained with color. Her eyes are becoming heavy as Kendra can sense she is fading away.
"Mistress, don't die," Kendra said as Sabrina places her hand on her face.
"I am proud of you and worthy of being my legacy," Sabrina said as her hand goes limp and her eyes lose light within them.
"She is gone," Kendra said as her emotions are overwhelming her body.
Grace blast away the two Pokemon to laugh at Sabrina's death. "So pathetic, are you going to cry now?" she mocks her.
"I am going to make you cry bitch!" Kendra's body is unleashing a psychic surge striking Grace's mind to be overloaded with tons of psychic pressure. Grace is on her knees as she screams in deep pain.
"Oh goodness, my mind is on fire," Grace groaned as her mind is imploding with the feeling of nails going deeper within her skull. Both Kendra and Lily use their Psychic powers to begin putting pressure on Grace's body causing crazy amounts of pain to stun her in place.
Dragapult uses Dragon Rush to charge with mystic power to slam into the Hybrid to knock her across the room. Dragapult unleashes Drago Meteor to pound away at the evil hybrid to make quick work of Grace to revert her to her normal state.
Lily looks over to see Mike fighting the Shadow Hydreigon unleashing waves of dark energy with Mike dodges incoming attacks. He powers up his fists to use Close Combat to unleash a barrage of lightning-fast blows to push back the dark dragon with each blow. He drives his fist into the chest to knock it into a wall leaving a dent behind.
"Misty Terrain," Lily summons a mystic fog to weaken the dragon with her rushing at the monster. The three heads fire Dragon Breath to hit Lily but the Dragon Move was useless against her. Lily looks like a Mage trying to slay a dragon like in the book or a movie.
"Moonblast," Lily powers up her Fairy move to do a huge amount of damage due to being 4x weaker than Fairy moves. The Shadow Pokemon was close to fainting from that move alone with Mike getting behind the beast.
"Drain Punch," he rapidly punches it in the back to drain its energy while at the same time healing Mike. The final punch knocks down the beast onto the ground as he reverts to his human form to activate his Snug machine to toss a snug ball to catch the Shadow Pokemon.
"It's done but she's already done her deed," Mike said as he goes over to see Kendra looming over Sabrina's corpse. "Are you going to be okay?" he asked as Kendra wanted to cry but she feels more determined than before.
"She said she was proud of me. She did so much and now she is going into the unknown," Kendra said.
"Oh okay, seems like you were handling it well enough," Michael said.
"I have gotten closure and we captured the woman who murdered her. I am going to be fine," Kendra said as she bends onto her knee to place her hand on Sabrina's chest where her heart is. "Rest in Peace Mistress Sabrina, I am your legacy. I will make you proud," Kendra said as she feels hope flowing into her heart to focus on helping Michael and the others fight against Cipher to stop their evil plans.
Elsewhere within the Kanto Pokemon HQ building where all the Gym Leaders new and old gathered from Kanto and Johto to talk about plans to fight back against Cipher. The Chairman of the Pokemon League within the regions is having a meeting with someone who is hacking into the telescreen.
"Hello everyone," Lovrina said with a fake cheery smile as everyone is surprised to see her there.
"What is the meaning of this?" the Chairman demanded.
"I am from Cipher and I wanted to give you a welcoming gift from us. It's in the basement, enjoy," Lovrina presses a button to trigger explosives which destroy the foundation of the building making it fall onto it. Lovrina is laughing at the destruction on the screen.
"Oh, those fools. We don't play around here in Cipher. Once I can get Mewtwo up and running into being a Shadow Pokemon. He will go to Saffron City and cause some massive damage to show them how helpless they are," Lovrina is laughing for she sees Mewtwo in a pod for black goo enters his body to slowly become a Shadow Pokemon which Lovrina can use a weapon against her group's enemies.
