CHAPTER 5: USJ! Luffy vs Nomu and some explanations
My Hero Academia world, U.A. academy, USJ [15:32]
"Hahahaha, if you think you have a chance against my Nomu you are more stupid than I thought!" Yelled Shigaraki with strands of blood coming out from his mouth.
"What are you talking about? I have beaten stronger guys than that ugly thing" Luffy said picking his nose.
Shigaraki only snorted "HA, we'll see about that. Nomu… destroy him!" He ordered him and the creature inmediately obeyed his master.
Luffy, without losing his calm expression, started to dodge every single punch from the Nomu like in the sparring sesions with Rayleigh. A lot of its attacks couldn't even being seen by the normal eye and still the straw-hat boy remained unharmed. This made Shigaraki to lose a little of his arrogant smile.
After getting tired from dodging Luffy jumped a few meters back "Well, you are fast. Now let's see how strong you are. Gomu Gomu no… BULLET!" He yelled punching the chest of that creature "Damn you skin is tough!" For his part, the Nomu was without a scratch.
"I'll have to use another thing" Luffy said covering his arms with Armament Haki "Gomu Gomu no… GATLING" But this had the same result as his previous attack.
"HAHAHAHAHA. Normal punches don't work on him, you idiot" Laughed Shigaraki with a hand still clutched to his injured stomach "This was created to kill All-Might, do you really think he'll only have super strength? No, his strength is not the problem but his other Quirk, shock absorption" The villain said recovering all his confidence "I feel pity for you; if you give up now I promise a quick death" However he did not expect the boy's answer.
"Shishishishi. You are funny, Hand-guy" Luffy said Laughing "I didn't get a lot of things only that normal punches won't do anything to that thing. Then, let's see how you handle this… Gear Third" He said before putting his thumb to his mouth and injecting air into it.
"Gomu Gomu no… ELEPHANT GUN!" Luffy shouted as he jumped and struck the Nomu with his voluminous fist. The creature also decided to counterattack luffy's punch "You are gonna need something else if you want to beat me" He said, smiling with excitement, and putting more strength in the attack.
At the end, the next thing they heard was the Nomu crashing into the ground, creating a carter big enough that reached Shigaraki's feet.
"Kurogiri, I think we need to give the Nomu some help if we want to leave soon"
"I understand, Shigaraki" He replied before disappearing
Meanwhile a few meters from there, Bakugo and Todoroki were seeing Luffy's last attack with round eyes.
"I think he won't need our help" Commented the candy cane.
"Tssk. That was just luck" Bakugo replied although he was impressed by his brute force.
"Maybe, but I think the best we can do now is to go with our classmates. For what the others told me, Iida was able to run away a while ago, so I'm sure the pro-heroes are coming soon, including All-Might. We'll only be a burden if we are still here when they arrive" Said Todoroki trying to reason with the explosive boy.
"…" Bakugo didn't want to leave all the glory to the rubber airhead, but also knew that the other was right "Alright, Icy Hot" He said, giving up for now.
Back to Luffy, he landed gracefully after using his third gear, yet he didn't noticed on time the portal that formed under his feet, trapping him and only leaving out his head and part of his chest. "Damn it. I let my guard down"
"Don't worry, kid. I won't get my hands dirty; I'll only hold you here until the Nomu recovers and can rip off your upper body" The villain said as politely as the situation allowed him to be.
"No thanks" Luffy said trying to get his arms out.
"You fool, you can't-… Hey! What are you doing?" He asked as he saw Luffy growing in size, as he had done before with his fist, forcing the portal to become wider than before. Once he thought it was enough, he quickly deflated himself, pulling his arms out of there at the same time.
"YOSH! And now, the rest" Luffy said as he put his hands coated with haki in the borders of the portal to open it up.
"What the hell?!"
"YEI! I'm out" Celebrated Luffy as he jumped out of the trap. With his legs now available, he kicked kurigori who was still on the floor "Gomu Gomu no… AXE!"
"ARGH!" He cried out in pain.
Luffy then caught the mist villain with his hands and started to spin in his place.
"Hey! Stop, STOP!"
"SHISHISHISHI" The other only laughed "Gomu Gomu no… PINWHEEL!" Luffy shouted as he slammed again the villain into the ground.
"Kurogiri!"
"Great!" Luffy said "Well, where is tha-…"
However, the Nomu recovered quicker than he thought and attack him by surprise. Luffy couldn't dodge it in time so he had to block it with his arms; and although he did not receive a direct impact, the punch was so strong that sent him to the roof of the fire building, creating a big dent.
Fortunately, the ceiling didn't collapse and Luffy could get up in no time.
"Hey, brain-head. That's not fair!"
For his part, Shigaraki couldn't believe his eyes. That brat can still fight?! Who the hell is he?!
"Now, I'm gonna get serious… Gear Second!" Luffy yelled before infusing haki in his fists again and jumping towards the monster "Gomu Gomu no…GATLING!"
A couple of minutes earlier
Meanwhile, the rest of the class 1-A was resting at the top of the stairs with Thirteen, who was stable but seriously injured, and Aizawa at the edge of unconsciousness.
All of them, instead of awaiting the arrival of the heroes, were watching the fight between that… thing and their captain.
"Midoriya" Called Hagakure
"Yes?"
"You said that monster was created to fight All-Might, is that true?"
Izuku replied without taking his eyes off the battle "Yes, at least it's what the villain with the hand on his face said"
"…"
"If that's true, that means that our captain is a real monster if he can keep up with that thing" Said Kirishima
"Indeed" Agreed Mina
"GOMU GOMU NO… PISTOL!" They heard him shout.
"I think it is true. The villains already knew our schedule and the fact that All-Might was supposed to be in this lesson with us. I don't think they would've risked attacking so directly at him without having reasons to believe that they could defeat him" Commented Momo
"And he still sacrificed himself to protect us, just like the teachers" Said Tsuyu with tightly clasped hands "I only hope he doesn't get hurt"
You better not lose rubber-brain. Also thought Katsuki clenching his fists.
The seconds passed painfully slow for them until someone slammed the entrance doors.
"DON'T WORRY! WHY? BECAUSE I AM ALREADY… here?"
At the entry of USJ stood All-Might, ready to fight, but what he found when he entered was all the students concentrated, in silence and with their faces turned forward. When he approached them he finally saw the scene the others were watching.
"That's… that's Young Luffy?" He asked with incredulity in his voice
"Yes" Mina said "He jumped to the battle to keep us safe from the villains"
"I see. Oh! Eraserhead, Thirteen, I'm so sorry, are you okay?" He asked once he notice the injured teachers
"Yes, this is nothing" Said Aizawa not very convincing.
"I've been better, I'm not gonna lie" Replied Thirteen with a chuckle
"Don't worry the medical help is about to arrive"
At that moment, the other U.A. teachers arrived, including the principal.
"What's this?" Cementoss asked confused seeing All-Might here and not fighting.
"First, we must treat their injuries then we can talk" Said Recovery Girl allowing her assistants to attend the teachers.
"Honey! Are you okay?!" Asked Hizashi alarmed when he saw Shota bleeding so much.
"Idiot, I already told you not to call me that in public!" Aizawa responded, somewhere between annoyed and embarrassed.
"Well, I suppose you are okay if you can still talk to me like that" Whined Hizashi making some of the presents let out a little laugh.
"GOMU GOMU NO… BULLET!" Luffy yelled catching everyone's attention.
"That's Mr Luffy?" Asked Nezu getting off Vlad King's shoulder.
"Yes, that's him"
"Aren't you going to stop him?" Asked Ectoplasm to All-Might.
"I was going to, but I feel that is better to leave it to him for now"
"And you are right" Said Aizawa already in a stretcher "He can manage that thing by himself"
"But, what is he fighting?" Questioned this time Snipe
The students were about to answer his question when they saw something that left all the presents with mouths that almost reached the floor and make the pro-heroes to start moving towards the action.
If that monster wasn't out by that attack I'll have to intervene. Thought All-Might still astounded by the kid's strength.
Several seconds before
Coming back to Luffy, he was still dealing with that monster and honestly, it was getting frustrating, especially with the healing power that thing has. Yes, Luffy was already aware of the Nomu's high speed-regeneration, it was difficult not to when he just saw the creature growing an arm out of nowhere when it was ripped out just five seconds ago. Luffy is dumb but not THAT dumb.
"I'll admit that you have been a good practice for our Nomu, but you can't beat him. He can come back and regenerate himself over and over again. Why don't you just give up?" Shigaraki said with a mocking tone.
"Give up? Nah, I'll just have to hit him harder, right?" Luffy replied with unwavering determination in his eyes "…Gear Third" He said before putting both thumbs in his mouth to inflate their haki-coated arms.
"Again that. If that didn't work before why do you think..."
"And who tell you it was the same attack" He replied. Once his hands were big enough, he jumped above the monster and infused Ryou in their fists before he landed the first punch "Gomu Gomu no… ELEPHANT GATLING!"
And like a meteor shower, Luffy's giant fists struck the Nomu repeatedly with each punch faster than the last. As a result, this attack created small earthquakes that put out of combat all the thugs that were still standing.
For his part, Shigaraki was getting more nervous by the moment. What the hell? How?! If this continues the Nomu will… But it's impossible, that creature was supposed to be at All-Might's level.
As the time passed Luffy felt himself getting tired and his movements more sloppy so he decided to finish this fight right now. His last move could be seen as excessive but he wanted to make sure that the monster wouldn't get up again after this.
"GOMU GOMU NO…" Luffy said as he coated with haki his arm in third gear and adopted the Red Hawk attack position but with one difference; he also infused it with Ryou.
"…RED ROC!" He yelled landing his fist in the already half-dead monster.
The explosion that followed could be described by the people present as bright, loud and, furthermost, very powerful.
"Man, that thing was annoying" Said the straw-hat boy as he approached the 'lifeless" body of the creature "I thought it'll push me to my fourth gear" He commented while pocketing the monster with his foot.
"It's…IT'S IMPOSSIBLE!" Shigaraki yelled, insanity already possessing him "That Nomu must be defective or an idiot like you couldn't have defeated him!" He said looking at Luffy with hatred and disdain.
The boy only ignored his words and shrugged "Well, I just did" He simply said as he kicked that thing, sending the body to the villains' feet "This was too weak to beat me, just like you"
And suddenly, Shigaraki saw red; that last sentence triggered something on him that, for a moment, made him lost all rationality and jump towards Luffy with only one thing in mind "I'LL KILL YOU!" He said with his hand extended prepared to erase that mocking expression from the boy's face.
However, someone intercede hitting him in his already injured stomach.
"I DON'T THINK SO" All-Might said before turning to Luffy "Are you alright Young Luffy?" He asked concerned visible in his voice.
Luffy only looked at him with an annoyed face "Of course, I'm alright!" Luffy replied bluntly "But, why did you punch him? I wanted to do it too" He said whining like a kid
"O-Oh, mmm… I am sorry?" The pro-hero wasn't sure how to answer.
Menwhile, Shigaraki, who was several meters away from them, tried to get up with Kurogiri's help! "Take me out of here, NOW!" He ordered.
"Inmediately" The other replied as he quickly opened a portal.
"Not while I am here" All-Might said running as fast as he could towards the villains.
"Don't worry All-Might. We'll meet again very soon" Shigaraki said but before the portal was completely closed he felt something piercing his shoulder "Aaargh!" He screamed disappearing right after that, leaving the other pro-hero centimetres away from grabbing the villain's face.
More shots were heard but it was pointless, they were gone "Damn it, I should've come earlier" Cursed Snipe.
"It's okay, I also let them escape" Replied All-Might frustrated for having failed. He then shook his head and asked his co-worker "And what about the other criminals?"
"We've already taken care of most of them. There are still some thugs hiding in the others areas of the building but we'll catch them soon"
"Perfect. And now Young Luffy, can you-…"
"LUFFY!/ CAPTAIN"
Luffy turned around just to see his classmates approaching him and asking all sort of questions that they didn't let him to answer
"Are you okay?"
"How are you so strong?"
"That moves were so mainly, how did you do it?"
"Luffy-san, did you get hurt?"
"You were a real monster fighting like that"
"Are you really a student like us?"
They weren't even letting him breath until Hizashi come to his rescue.
"Okay, okay. Let him rest for a moment, he must be tired" He said as he pushed the students aside until he reached Luffy "You sure like being in the centre of every problem, right kid?" Hizashi said ruffling Luffy's hair.
"Shishishi" Luffy only laughed "Oh! That's right! How is Eye-bags?"
"Shota is alright. Although, I think we'll need to help him at home in the next couple of days"
Class 1-A, except for Ochako and Izuku, was watching this interaction a little confused.
"Those two know each other outside of U.A.?" Asked Kirishima
"So it seems" Replied Jiro
"Oh! You didn't know? Luffy is the cousin of Aizawa-sensei" Said Ochako
"Yes, he is living with them because his family lives far from U.A" Corroborated Izuku
"…"
"WHAT?!" Everyone yelled
"I didn't know, that's a surprise" Said Mina
"Yeah, besides they don't appear that close during the lessons" Comented Mineta
"True, and he doesn't seem to have any special treatment" Agreed Hagakure
"That's undoubtedly praiseworthy. Even though they are family, as teachers, they don't let that cloud his judgement. As expected of U.A.!" Said Iida moving his arm up and down.
At that moment, it was heard a loud noise that resembled the roar of a wild animal, making everyone stop talking.
"W-What was that?" Asked Mineta hiding behind Kaminari
"Oh! It's me. Sorry guys, I'm hungry" Said Luffy
"That's your stomach?!" Said a shocked Kirishima
"For a second, I thought it was a tiger" Commented Mina with a chuckle
"I want to eat now! Can I go to see Lunchie?" Asked Luffy looking at Hizashi
"Yeah, why not"
"YOSH! Bye guys!" Luffy said before started running towards the exit
Everyone was just looking dumfounded at him thinking how the hell he still had so much energy.
He'll be the death of me. Thought Hizashi. "I better go with him before he gets lost, I will talk later to the police officers, is that alright principal Nezu?"
"Yes, don't worry. I'll take care of everything" He said
"Thanks" Replied Hizashi before going after Luffy
"But sir, Luffy wouldn't have to give his testimony to the police?" Asked Jiro to the principal
"Yes, but he can also do that later. I think we all agree he deserves a rest after today's events" Said Nezu as he saw everyone nodding "And now that the topic has been mentioned, I would like to ask you a favour. Don't mention Luffy's implication in the fight and much less that he defeated the Nomu, we'll tell them that it was All-Might"
"But why? That's not fair besides we also have other questions…" Said Momo
"I know, I know. And they will be answered in due time; and regarding to the previous point, Luffy doesn't have a hero license yet, so his participation in this battle is considered illegal. To protect him we'll have to lie, did you understand?" Nezu asked with a serious face.
Everyone looked at each other before saying a simple "Yes, sir"
"Great. Now Cementoss guide the kids out of the building. The police is about to arrive, the sooner they give their testimony the sooner they will be able to rest."
"Alright, kids come with me" Said the pro-hero as he started to walk to the exit with the students.
Midnight then approached Nezu and voiced everyone's concerns "Nezu, I hope that we get answers too about that kid" She said referring to Luffy "The fact that he is able to defeat a monster designed to defeat All-Might is suspicious in itself"
"I will reveal to all of you everything about that student, of course with one of his guardians present" Said Nezu with confidence. His explanation will be very simple in reality, but sometimes the simplest explanation is the most credible one; or so he hopes.
My Hero Academia world, U.A. academy [17:48]
A couple of hours later, we see President Mic and Luffy walking out of the cafeteria.
"Aaaaahh… Lunchie is the best. I'm full!" Said the straw-hat boy.
"Whit the amount of food you eat, I don't understand why you are so slim" Commented Hizashi pocking Luffy's side
"Shishishi. Sanji says the same"
Not much after, they arrive at Nezu's office. When they entered the room, they saw the teachers talking to one of the detectives.
"The police have investigated the group that called themselves, The League of Villains, but there is no one registered with the name Shigaraki or with a Quirk that disintegrate whatever the person touches" Said detective Tsukauchi "It's the same with the one with the Warp Gate Quirk, Kurogiri. What we do know is that the 92 criminals that were arrested at USJ are just thugs that lurked in black alleys. However, they have yet to confessed how the villain called Shigaraki recruited them or if there are more of them"
"Well, that's…" Nezu started to say "Oh! Mr Luffy, Hizashi, you are finally here" He interrupted himself when he saw the boy at the door "Please, come in"
"Hey, little mouse. It's been a while" The pirate greeted with familiarity. He was about to go to the principal's side when a figure next to him captured his attention "Huh? Eye-bags? What are you doing here?" He said to Aizawa who, thanks to the Nomu, was now wearing two splints on both arms and his head and chest were wrapped in bandages.
All his co-workers had begged him to get some rest, but he didn't want to listen. He was determined to attend the meeting, and although he didn't admit it, the truth is that his main reason to be there was Luffy.
"Doig my job. Now, sit in the chair and tell us everything. I don't want to be here until midnight" Answered Aizawa a little annoyed.
Luffy didn't care and only laughed "Shishishi. Now, you look more like a mummy than a zombie" He said making some of the presents to let out a chuckle
"HAHAHA, the kid is right, Shota"
A vein was already popping out of Aizawa's forehead "Stop wasting time and just sit"
"Aye, aye…"
"I think we can start now, Tsukauchi" Commented All-Might to his friend
"Alright, you are Monkey D. Luffy, correct?" He asked receiving a nod from the boy "Perfect. Well, as you are probably aware, you are the person who had the most contact with the villains, could you tell us what you know or remember about them?"
For his part, Luffy was so entertained eating some sweets Nezu brought for him that he only heard the last question "Tell you about who?" He asked tilting his head
"T-The villains, Mr Monkey?" Said again Tsukauchi
"Call me Luffy" He simply replied
"Huh?... Oh! Yes of course. Ahem…" He cleared his throat "Luffy could you tell us about the villains you fought with today?"
"Ah! Those guys" The detective nodded "Well, the weird guy with a hand on the face was the boss I think, that brain-head monster always did what he told him" Said Luffy with a hand on his chin.
"You mean that he was the one leading the villains?" Asked Snipe
"Yeah, but he was weak. He coughed a lot of blood for only one punch in the stomach" Luffy replied very proud of his action.
"Wait?! You punched him?!" Said a surprised Vlad King
"It wasn't difficult. I also kicked the purple guy that makes portals, he was weak too" He commented as if he was nothing "But the brain-head thing was really annoying"
"You mean the Nomu right?" Intervened the principal
Luffy nodded "That's what those guys called him. It was difficult because he was healing himself over and over again"
"So the Nomu have an auto-regenerative Quirk?" Asked Cementoss
"I think so" Replied Luffy not really understanding the word he used "He also had a shop abortion power, so normal punches didn't work" He said. This made half of the teachers to raise a hand to his mouth to not laugh while the other half was struggling to keep a straight face.
This kid is funny. "Ahem… you mean a 'shock absorption' Quirk, right?" Said Midnight still smiling
"That's what I said!" Exclaimed Luffy looking at the heroine with his arms crossed. Then his eyes lighted up as he remembered something important "Oh! That's right! That weird guy also said that the monster was there to kill Mr Steroids" He said pointing to the skeletal form of All-Might.
However, if with Luffy's previous response everyone laughed, the last made everyone to go silent and look at him in astonishment, especially a certain blond hero who almost had a heart attack.
"Y-Young L-Luffy" Started to say All-Might with cold sweat running down his face and back. He was really nervous "Wh-What…?" He tried to ask but the words didn't seem to come out
"That the weird hand-guy wanted to kill you with…"
"N-No, no… We already knew that from your classmates' testimony" Clarified All-Might "What I want to know is why you pointed at me when you talk about All-Might"
Luffy was now confused "Huh? Are you idiot? It's because you are Mr. Steroids"
The rest of the people present couldn't believe their ears. That boy has just discovered one of Japan's best-kept secrets. Everyone thought.
"But, how are you so sure?" Asked Ectoplasm in an attempt to cover the situation.
"Because he has the same aura" Luffy said as he ate another sweet "When I entered I was confused, I was sensing Mr. Steroid's aura but I didn't see him" He then paused "I only knew it when I sensed his power too. It was the power of Mr. Steroids but weaker and it was coming from him" He finished saying looking at the petrified hero.
"…"
There were a few moments of silence before Nezu could speak again.
"Mr. Luffy, what you just have found out about All-Might is still a secret for the rest of the world" He explained calmly "You can't tell anyone; if the villains get this information it would be really detrimental for us. Did you understand?"
To tell the truth, Luffy was barely listening as he was concentrated in eating the rest of the candies "Aye, aye…"
"Are we sure he can keep such secret?" Asked Tsukauchi worried as well as the other teachers.
"Don't worry, we got this" Said Hizashi casually "Luffy!" He called him
"Huh?"
"If you tell anybody All-Might's secret you won't get meat for a month" His co-workers only looked at him with a raised eyebrow not believing this was the best way to keep him silent; well that was until they saw the kid's reaction.
"WHAT?! NO, NO, NO… You can't do that!" Yelled Luffy putting his hands on his head and with a terrified expression, pretty exaggerated in their eyes.
"Then promise not to say anything or …"
"We will throw you to a water tank" Whispered Aizawa
"Yes, we will throw y-… wait no! Shota we can't do that" Said Hizashi giving a bad look to his partner
"Why not? That will teach him a lesson" He commented half-joking. Only half.
"Because he can't swim idiot. And even if he can it's still wrong" Hizashi replied.
And just like that they started bickering with each other while Luffy was laughing in the chair between them.
The other people present were just watching them confused and a little amused, especially Nezu. At the end it was a good idea to put the future Pirate King under their care. He thought smiling.
"Calm down gentlemen, you may continue the argument in your home but now we need to discuss other things" Intervened the principal "Luffy, you promise to keep the secret?" He nodded "Excellent. Then we can continue, detective do you have more questions?"
"Yes, actually. But this one is more out of curiosity" He said looking at Luffy "If the Nomu was supposed to kill All-Might, how were you able to defeat him?" In reality, there was the possibility that the creature was not really that strong; but, as Youyozoru Momo had commented them, the villains wouldn't have attacked unless they had some guarantee that their plan would work.
"I just punched him" The boy said bluntly
"J-just punch him?" He asked confused
"Yeah, at first it was tough. The weird hand-guy said that normal punches didn't work so I just hit him harder" Luffy told them "But I only need to use until my third gear, that thing was weak"
"Gear? What is that?" Asked Tsukauchi very intrigued by that boy
"Oh! They are the transformations of my Dev-ouch!" Thank god Hizashi hit his head before he revealed anything "Why did you do that?"
"Because I wanted to" He simply said
"I think the kid is tired. After a day like this is only normal" Intervened Aizawa "Luffy, go to the car and wait for us there"
"Eh? But wh-"
"That's a good idea. We'll be there soon; we have to stop to buy a good steak for tonight" Commented Hizashi nonchalantly
"STEAK?!" Said Luffy standing up before he run to the door "Bye, little mouse. Bye everyone" And then he disappeared down the corridor.
"Well, I think we can go now isn't it?" Said President Mic, also standing up from his seat. However, Midnight's words stop him on his tracks.
"I think you still have to give us some explanations"
"What explanations?" Asked Aizawa
"Well, maybe the fact that the kid was able to defeat a creature created to beat All-Might?" Said Vlad King
"Aaaahh, it's true. We owe you some" Said the principal with a paw rubbing his temple I didn't think Mr. Luffy would show his true power this early
Aizawa sighed loudly "Okay, what do you want to ask?"
"Why is he so strong?" Intervened All-Might for the first time since Luffy discovered his secret "And how many Quirks he has? It's obvious that there is more than meets the eye" He said thinking what the boy said before He can sense my aura, I should've expect he could also recognize me in this form
The principal, Aizawa and Hizashi looked to each other before Nezu decided to answer.
"The case is…"
My Hero Academia world, U.A. academy [8:28]
"Hey guys, did you watch the news last night?" Asked Hagakure to her classmates, receiving some nods "They showed images of the whole class for a couple of seconds, but I didn't stand out at all…like most of the time" Said the invisible girl with a sad voice.
"That's true" Agreed Shoji being a bit insensitive.
"Well, it's hard to stand out wearing only gloves and boots, right?" Ojiro said trying to cheer her up.
"But honestly, all the cannels made a big deal out of it. It was a little exaggerated" Commented Kaminari
"Yes, man. I was really surprised" Said Kirishima
"Come on, can you blame them?" Intervened Jiro this time "We are students from the most famous hero school of Japan. It would've been strange if they hadn't reacted like that. Especially, when All-Might is now a teacher here"
"That's true. But we were very lucky to have the captain there" Said Sero as he looked around the class not seeing the straw-hat boy. Maybe he is running a little late today
"But the question now is how he did it" Spoke Tokoyami drawing the attention to him "How is a student so strong? It doesn't make sense"
"Yes, besides he jumped into the battle without giving it a second thought; he looked like he had a lot of experience in hand-to-hand combat. More than a student should have" Commented Momo making the class recall some scenes of Luffy's insane demonstration of power.
"We also saw others techniques like his third gear or the fire punch! They were really powerful" Said Kirishima "I wonder if he has more"
"Yes, I am curious too" Said Mina
"I am sure he has. You saw him after the battle; he had no injury despite receiving some punches from that monster" Pointed Uraraka "Maybe we'll get some answers today from the teacher or Luffy himself"
After Ochako's comment, Izuku, who was deep in thought, spoke up with a confidence that he rarely shows "Maybe, but we have to remember that if he doesn't want to share anything with us we must respect it. Like Asui-san said, yesterday, Luffy-san put himself in danger to keep us safe; and that alone speaks a lot of the kind of person he is"
Everyone there looked at him surprised by his point of view. However, upon some seconds of reflection all his classmates reached the same conclusion as him.
Midoriya is right. We owe him that, he protected us without doubt. As expected of our captain. Thought Iida admiring Luffy's "sacrifice" for his 'crew'.
But before they could resume their conversation, the door was opened and, to everyone's surprise, they saw their class rep with a mummified Aizawa on his back. The situation was quite interesting to not say funny, but they were afraid of the consequences if they dare to laugh at all.
"Luffy, I've already told you to put me down" Said Aizawa, annoyance visibly heard in his voice "Seriously, I'm alright and I can walk by myself, you know?"
But Luffy didn't listen. He was determined to carry him to his desk "Nah, you are hurt and if I don't do this Blondie will get mad at me, and he is scarier than you when he is angry" He said
Aizawa simply gave up; he was already really embarrassed when his co-workers saw him like that, what's a little more.
When they entered the class he noticed the surprised faces of his students, although that quickly changed to curiosity. They have their eyes fixed on them but mainly in Luffy, he knew they wanted answers in regard of yesterday's events. I think I have to tell them. Aaaah…I only want to sleep.
"Don't worry guys, it's Eye-bags not a mummy" Said Luffy innocently gaining a few giggles and chuckles.
"Really? I didn't notice" Replied Jiro sarcastically eye-rolling her eyes.
"That's why I told you, dummy" He said, now making his classmates let out loud laughs.
When Luffy put him down, Aizawa knew he had to talk with the rest of the class as soon as possible without the boy being present "Hey, kid. I forgot something, I need you to go back to the teacher's office and take the red folder I left in my desk"
"Now?!" He whined
"Yes, now. Unless you want me to tell Hizashi that you are not helping me"
"Argh! Okay, I'll go" He said running out of the classroom.
When he knew he was gone, Aizawa turned his gaze towards his students. "I think this is a good moment to tell you something about yesterday's incident"
A lot of them looked at him a little confused "But sensei, we shouldn't wait for Luffy to come back?" Asked Uraraka with her hand raised
"No, I sent him away on purpose. What I have to tell you have to do with him" He explained, now capturing everyone's attention "I know all of you have questions about Luffy's strength and, especially, his experience in combat" All of them nodded, with expecting faces "Well, the case is…"
Aizawa sighed, now he was thankful he had thought about this possible outcome and they prepare in advance.
*Flashback*
It was the afternoon after the first day of class. President Mic and principal Nezu were in the director's office seeing a pretty engaging video from Aizawa's phone.
"Wow, so that is his second gear" Commented Hizashi "Impressive"
"Indeed. And if this is only the second, I am really interested to see the remaining three" Spoke Nezu "Seeing this video and the results of the other physical tests, I believe we have underestimated what's the true extent of his powers"
"And that is why I ask you to meet today" Said Aizawa with his usual monotone voice.
"Why? What is the problem?" Questioned Hizashi not understanding what's wrong with the kid standing out among his classmates.
"I think I know why" Intervened Nezu looking up to both pro-heroes "The boy is showing his powers faster than we expected; so you fear people will start questioning why Mr. Luffy's level is far above the rest of the students in… well, we can safely say, all U.A."
"Precisely" He said "I think we have to come up with something to have covered that possibility. His connexion with me will not be enough"
"I agree. But the fact that we have already spread among the teachers that he is your relative will restrain our possibilities" Said Nezu leaning back in his chair.
The three then spent the next ten minutes thinking about an explanation that could be credible enough for the rest to believe. They have some limitations, as the principal said, so it was proving to be a quite difficult task.
"I think I know" Spoke then Hizashi "Why don't we use his real past?" He said making the other two to look at him a little lost until Aizawa remembered 'that'
"You mean what the kid told us yesterday about his childhood, right?" Said Aizawa seeing Hizashi nod with his head "It could work"
"What is it?" Asked Nezu
Hizashi was the one who answered "Well, you see the kid…"
As the pro-hero started to tell the principal about his idea, Nezu was beginning to understand that it was probably the best and only option they had. It was very simple but plausible at the same time.
"I think it's perfect" He said once Hizashi finished "Maybe we can change some details to make it more fitting but, overall, this solves everything for now"
*Back to the present*
Aizawa is seeing the brats of his class with eager expressions. They are too curious. I don't know why but I think that will give me problems in the future. He thought
"The case is that Luffy has been trained very strictly by his family since he was a child" He finally said.
The other students looked at him with surprise and scepticism, except for a student who was only surprised by what the teacher said.
"Huh? That's it?" Bakugo said suddenly "That doesn't make sense, that rubber-airhead can't be so strong just because of a little extra training at home"
This caused Todoroki to flinch and feel a little uneasy in his seat for a moment.
"Bakugo, I think you didn't understand" Said Aizawa with a colder tone than usual "It was not just a little 'extra-training' as you said. Since he was very young, Luffy was home-schooled and in the custody of his grandfather, a high ranking marine. When he turned five years old his guardian saw fitting to put Luffy to fight him and his older brothers every day, for hours, until he thought it was enough. When he was a couple of years older his grandfather also made him go through other 'tests', if we can call them that, like learning how to survive for hours even days alone in the forest or fight several enemies at the same time" Although, those enemies were monkeys. Aizawa thought.
After Aizawa finished his speech everyone went silent. At the beginning, most of them had the same opinion as Bakugo but now they even feel pity for their class rep.
"Poor Luffy, his childhood must've been very tough" Said Uraraka
"Yes, but what about his parents? Why he was with his grandfather?" Asked Kirishima
"As far as I know, Luffy's father work overseas so he couldn't take care of his children" His teacher told them
"But... he must have a mother right? Where was she?" Said Mina
"Not only that but why the government never revoked his grandfather custody?" Questioned Iida "Even if he is a senior navy commander, that was child abuse; the authorities must've done something"
"That's right!" Seconded Sero as well as the rest of the class
"Look, I won't say anything else but if you want more answers you can ask him" Aizawa said casually
"But, should we ask him?" Spoke Izuku this time "I-I mean… this could trigger some bad memories for him"
"That's true" Todoroki agreed "Even for people like Luffy who is happy all the time, making him remember the abuse he suffered could revive his trauma, especially if it hadn't been treated" I have some experience with that. He thought
"Todoroki-san is right; we can't ask him just because. If we want to know more we have to be careful" Concluded Momo.
"Hey, hey. Don't rush yourselves" Intervened Aizawa drawing the attention to him again "I don't think he has any trauma; when he told us he didn't seem bothered and even laugh talking about some parts. So it'll be okay if you ask" He said rubbing his temple, he wanted to move on from this topic.
"Maybe that's his mechanism to cope with the pain" Commented Tokoyami "Sometimes a smile can hide more than we thought"
"As expected of the class representative" Iida said standing up "To be able to smile like that even after all he has been through. He is a true hero!"
All his classmates agreed with him and Aizawa only gave up. "Aaaahh… do what you want"
A few seconds later Luffy come back to the classroom patting his belly "That was good!"
"Kid, where is the folder?" Asked Aizawa
"Huh? What folder?" Questioned Luffy confused
"The one I told you to pick up on my desk?"
"Oh! I knew I forget something"
"Where did you go then? Don't tell me you went to the cafeteria again"
"Then I won't tell you. Shishishi" He said laughing
"It's okay. It doesn't matter anymore" Said Aizawa already tired, and it was only the first hour. This will be a long day. "Now take a seat I have an announcement"
"Aye, aye…" He responds before going back to his desk. However, he felt something was wrong. He was sensing the gaze of his friends on him; all of them filled with… pity? worry? and he didn't understand why. "What happened? I have something on my face?" He asked visibly confused.
"What? No, no don't worry Luffy-san" Said Izuku
"Y-Yeah, it's nothing. Don't pay attention to us" Said Kirishima a little nervous
"Okay…?"
"You, stop talking and pay attention!" Scolded Aizawa
"Yes, sir" They said dropping the conversation
Once the pro-hero was sure everyone was listening he started speaking "What I have to tell you is something that probably will affect your future and you first contact with hero agencies" This beginning already made everyone forget about the previous conversation, at least for the moment "The U.A. sports festival will take place in two weeks"
"The sports festival?!"
"Yes! I've been waiting for th-" Kirishima was interrupted by Jiro's voice.
"Wait a minute! Is it okay to have a sports festival so soon after the villains attack?" She said. Most of his classmates also shared his worry
"Don't worry, Headphones" Intervened Luffy "If they attack I'll kick their asses again"
"Well, apart from having a hyperactive rubber boy to protect us" He said making his students laugh "Our security system will be reinforced. Apparently, the bosses think that if we hold this event it will show to the rest that we are not easily shaken or something like that" He started explaining "This is one of the biggest events of Japan and a huge chance for you to be noticed so I hope you will take this seriously and start training harder than before. Do you understand?"
"Yes, sir!" The class said excitedly
"I don't get it. Why is that thing important?" Asked Luffy
His friends looked at him like they didn't believe what they just heard.
"Luffy-san, have you never seen U.A. sports festival?" Questioned Izuku, receiving a negative response
"Luffy" Called Momo "The sports festival is an event to showcase your skills to the pro-heroes that will attend"
"But why?" He asked again
"Because, if you managed to impress them, they will send you an invitation to go to their agencies to be an intern and help them during a few weeks with their work." Explained Izuku
"Exactly, it's a great opportunity to make connexions before we graduate" Added Iida
"Then... in that festival I can fight?" Said Luffy
He only got that part? Everyone thought
"Yes, and there will be a prize too, but only for the winner" Reponded Aizawa
"A prize? Great I'm gonna win. Shishishi I hope is meat" He laughed
"HUH?! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SAYING IDIOT?!" Exploded Katsuki "I will be the winner not a rubber-airhead like you!"
"But if you are weaker than me" Said Luffy unbothered by the boy's outburst. Nami was ten times worse when I broke his desk. He thought
"HOW DARE YOU SAY TH-?!"
"Silence!" Yelled Aizawa activating his Quirk "If you have something to discuss you will do it outside of the school! Now, take out your notebooks, we are going to start the first lesson" He said without leaving room for discussion.

Also, this fanfic is inspired by Luffy is Lost in the MHA world, but he gets taken in by Momo's dad by Andreiuhs
I had a difficult time trying to come up with a believable excuse to explain Luffy's super strenght to the others, and at the end I chose this. I don't know if you'll like it or not but I think is good because it will allow me to develop Luffy's relationship with Todoroki in the future.
Also, there were already a couple of comments asking me about Luffy's first internships and if I am going to chose Mirko, and the answer is that she is one of the two options I had, but nothing is sure until I see how to continue the story and how I will make them meet.
And again, this story is inspired in another fanfic so there will be coincidences, especially in the beginning, and it's normal. There will be more differences as the story progress, but I have to say that after the training camp there will be some surprises. Maybe another person from Luffy's world is going to pay him a temporary visit; if that is the case who would you like it to be? I already know but I may change my mind.
