PROLOGUE: HAPPY TRAVELS
"What...?! You've GOT to be kidding me, after EVERYTHING, you pull THIS?!"
That shout... It's the last thing I can remember before my mind goes all weird. I don't know who said it, maybe I did, I don't know. Whoever said it was angry, that much I can recall.
Strange...
A voice snaps me out of my thoughts.
"Flaky? Is that you?"
It's familiar, I've heard it before. It's a friendly voice, and rather quiet, but I still feel the same chills run down my spine.
The same chills that I always feel whenever I hear his voice.
My eyes slowly open and adjust to my surroundings. Clear blue skies, a light breeze, and I think there's even sand beneath me.
It seems like an island paradise, just one question.
How did I get here?
The panic sets in quickly, and I jump up and begin looking around. There's sand on both sides of me, and a crystal clear deep blue ocean stretches out for miles in front of me.
"Where am I?! This isn't- Why am I here?!" I shout frantically.
No one answers, but I hear a shuffling coming from behind me.
I turn around and see...
Oh...
Oh no.
It was the last person I wanted to see while I'm panicked. He looked at me with a slightly shaken-up expression.
"Sorry I... Didn't mean to wake you up... I was just walking around and I found you and I was worried that you got hurt or something." He states, putting his hands up defensively like he knows I don't want to see him right now.
"I'm fine. It's ok." I mumble quietly, "Where are we?"
"Oh, yeah, I don't know. I just woke up here."
My mind goes back to what had happened before. Oh, wait, something's coming back to me.
...!
Right, now I remember.
I received an invitation from Hope's Peak Academy. You probably know about them considering their reputation, but I'll explain just in case you don't.
It's a school that only the most talented can attend. They only take in students who are the best of the best in their respective fields, and dub them, 'Ultimates'. Anyone who graduates from there is practically on a path to guaranteed success.
In short, it's a very prestigious school.
Recently, they removed one of their rules for admission. Specifically the 'Age Limit' rule. Originally, you had to be a high school student if you wanted to attend, but they changed it to accept people of any age. I'm not sure why.
Going back to what happened, I had been accepted as the Ultimate Lucky Student, a random student chosen through a lucky draw.
I only accepted because having a guaranteed path to success in life would be helpful for me and because most of my friends were accepted into the school too, I didn't want to be left behind, so I went with them.
We had to go by cruise, and it was mostly fun. That was until the lights on the boat went off, and everyone began to panic. I don't like the dark, so I began heading downstairs to my room, and that's when I overheard a commotion inside the captain's room.
I don't normally eavesdrop, but this sounded serious. I had just reached the door when I heard that person shout,
"What...?! You've GOT to be kidding me, after EVERYTHING, you pull THIS?!"
After that, I heard someone take a few steps behind me and strike me on the back of my head. Everything went black after that.
"Flaky, can I ask you something?" Flippy's voice snaps me out of my thoughts.
"What is it?"
"Do you have anything in your pocket?"
That's a weird question, but I reach into my jacket. I shouldn't have anything, right?
But there IS something in my jacket. Something small, smooth, and rectangular. I pull it out and find a strange modern looking device.
"What is this?" I say, shaking it a little. I'm not that good with technology.
The device beeps and lights up. I take a look at the screen and see my name pop up. Uh, it works? I think.
A few buttons appear on my screen, I fiddle around with them for a bit until something else pops up.
