Izuku Midoriya had always been brilliant as a child. He would soak up information like a sponge and put it all to use. His home became littered with inventions and notebooks as his mother would just smile at her son's hobby.

It was such a shame when he turned out to be quirk less.

It was as though the entire world had turned on the child that day. His once thoughtful and helpful curiosity was seen as "creepy" and "Unnerving". People would avoid as though he had the plague. He neve let them bring him down though.

He always persevered.

Almost always.

Izuku huffed as he fanned his newly ruined notebook. Number 37 was now burnt and scrapped by the heedless vindictive action of his once friend Katsuki Bakugou. He was helpless, watching as the prior months of work was all destroyed in an instant by the explosive teen.

He honestly didn't care all that much. He always saved his data on his computer every night so it wasn't like he had lost anything. He was just annoyed at the sheer disregard for knowledge that his once friend had.

It was always hero this, hero that, no appreciation for the more intelligent things in life. His eyes glazed over the front of the notebook one last time to make sure it was dried out before he put it back into his bag.

Once he got home, he'll have to start restoring his notes from earlier today.

He almost made it to the underpass when he heard something behind him. He turned for a second, before he broke into a sprint in the other direction. The manhole behind him burst up as a being of sludge broke out. Izuku hid behind the bridge as he heard the Sludge man begin to slither around. "Gotta Hide, get away from him." he could hear the Sludge Man mutter.

Izuku had to hold in a sigh. He couldn't be free from this hero/villain nonsense for even a second. The sound of someone else got his attention. "Halt Villain, for it is I All Might." Izuku banged his head against the bridge foundation as he heard the Hero speak.

The villain hardly had a second to beg before he was splattered across the road. Izuku poked his head out as he watched All Might scoop every last bit into a pair of empty Pop bottles before jumping away.

Izuku breathed a sigh of relief at having successfully avoided any interaction with either of them. He checked the wall he had banged his head against, sighing as he felt the imprint of his head in the brickwork. "Might as well just get home." he muttered, putting away thoughts of his notebook as he continued on the road.

Stepping through the door Midoriya was greeted by the sight of his mother in the midst of testing a new recipe. A small machine with many arms and a set of treads stood next to her. "Ah, Izuku how was school?" She asked as she wiped her hands on her apron and approached him. "Same as usual, How's P.A.M. treating you?" Izuku replied. "Oh P.A.M. had been such a big help around the house. I don't know how you managed to program so much into the little bot, but he's such a darling." Inko replied as Izuku nodded.

"Good to hear." Izuku replied as he followed his mother back into the kitchen. He watched as his mother read out the recipe as P.A.M. grabbed each ingredient using a collection of metallic limbs from its midsection.

P.A.M. is one of his finest creations. The Personal Assistant Machine is a simple aid he had given his mother to help reduce the stress of both managing the household and working her day to day shifts. He was already working on getting a warranty on P.A.M. and plans for wide spread production and distribution.

But that's for later, for now he has to keep his eyes on P.A.M. to make sure there isn't any sort of fatal defect. He pulled out a fresh notebook and began copying the notes he had taken today into it as his mother and P.A.M. continued cooking dinner.

Izuku rested soundly, until he heard a loud thud. He rose from bed, grabbing a hoodie and slippers as he made his way out of his room. As he walked into the living room he found his mother looking out the window with a fearful expression with P.A.M. just behind her. "Hero Fight?" Izuku asked. "Its not far from here, and there're both throwing strong attacks every which way." Inko replied as she stepped back from the window.

Izuku took her place, looking at the fight. Some random hero who could create and fire balls of light was battling against a villain with wild white flames. "Mom, get the fire extinguisher on hand. P.A.M. be ready for fire mode." Izuku called out as he watched the two of them launch explosive projectiles at one another.

One of their clashes flew upwards before it struck one of the lower floors of the building. The whole place shook as P.A.M. rushed to Inko's side on its treads. Izuku grit his teeth and glared out the window. "Never a moment of normalcy." he sneered as the building shook once again.

Izuku turned to Inko. "Mom, we need to get out now." he said. Inko nodded as she leaned against P.A.M. in shock. Izuku got to his mother's side and led them out as the building shook for a third time. By now more tenants were taking not and fleeing the building before the thing goes down.

The building began to tilt and the trio hurried. The stairs slowly grew crowded as tenants stared to mob together to escape the place. P.A.M. simply picked up Inko and began walking on its lower set of arms to make it's way down the stairs. The other tenants followed suite as many carried their children or older family members down the stairs in a rush as the building shook for a fourth time.

"P.A.M. Intiate mass evac mode." Izuku called out as P.A.M. let Inko go the moment they were away from the building. P.A.M. rushed back in as the building began to fall. Izuku helped his mother to get away as he watched his machine disappear into the rapidly collapsing structure.

Just as quickly as it disappeared did P.A.M. reappear, carrying tenants in its arms before dropping them off with the others as a group formed half a block away from the building.

Then he heard metal snap and concrete crumble.

The whole building fell, with people still inside it, with P.A.M. still inside it. Many watched, some cried as the battle continued not far away. Izuku got close, bringing a hand to cover his face as the dust settled. The building was in ruin, metal and glass was scattered everywhere.

Then he heard it, a faint metallic whine. A piece of rubble shifted before he watched the robotic limb of P.A.M. push out a man holding onto his daughter. Izuku ran over to them, letting the father crawl away as he looked down the hole they had been pushed out of. He found P.A.M., the poor little machine half crushed under the concrete with oil and hydraulic fluid leaking from his damaged form.

Izuku honestly felt sadness as he looked down the hole, at his damaged little robot. then P.A.M. moved its arms. A small boy being carried out of the hole. Izuku took the boy from P.A.M. before handing him to one for the other Tenants who had followed him. P.A.M. freed two more people before it let out a beep.

"Please don't?" Izuku asked sadly. He watched as P.A.M. let out another small beep, shifting one of its functioning limbs into a thumbs up, before it shut down. Izuku just watch, then the building shook as a blast from the nearby fight struck near the rubble. He felt it shift as the others all ran. Izuku leapt away, looking back as the remains crumpled down farther before a fire ball struck the rubble.

Izuku looked down at the small box in front of him. This was all they could scavenge from the wreckage of the apartment. Several hard drives and some of his recent notebooks.

That and the few scraps left of P.A.M.

His mother was inconsolable at the loss of their home and the sacrifice that P.A.M. made.

Yet he just felt empty.

All that loss, everything that was destroyed. That battle between the hero and villain destroyed at least three more apartment buildings before it finally stopped. None of those other people had P.A.M. to help them, how many of them had died because of the reckless actions of a hero.

All that came of the fight was a small article in the newspaper, "Solar Flare defeats Villain Inferno". No reference to the destroyed apartments, no talk of the civilian casualties.

Words could not describe just how pissed off he was at such Apathy that these heroes seemed to have to the common people.

He looked down at the remains of P.A.M. one last time. Then an idea struck him.
