You could call this an AU in a certain light. These are the Beta versions but I just called them by the names they had in the Owl House. In this AU of mine, The Boiling Isles is just like our world with phones and TVs but magic and monsters roam absolutely and they're technology isn't as advanced. Amity is the oldest sibling with the twins being a few years younger than her. Luz lost her parents at an early age and went to an orphanage where she never really fit in, but she did do softball. Eda is the Owl Lady but she has a nice car (don't ask me what it is cause I'm not into cars) and kinda messes around with guys, not sticking to one guy for too long. And King is an adorable piece of shit with a god complex (but sadly he's hardly in this story, I just wanted to give some context on this world I've made.
PS because I love them and wanted to originally have them making love, the Epilogue is basically them having sex, so just a warning if you don't wanna read that.
The car drove soundlessly along the barren road. Trees like walls by the concrete covering everything beyond the road in darkness. It was night, the bright headlights being the only thing revealing the concrete road and it's cracks. From the front seats it gently glowed reveling the driver with a sorrow glare.
"Why didn't you call me."
Luz said. Glancing over at the green haired woman in the seat beside her. Amitys head pressed against the window, her hair down in a ruffled mess with black lines smeared down her cheeks from her eyes.
"Amity."
Luz spoke again, trying to not break down from the lack of response taking deep quiet breaths. Still nothing. Luz groaned and removed a hand from a wheel before running it through her hair.
"Amity you could've called me."
"I don't want you involved."
Amity croaked out, her voice falling to pieces as she sniffles and holds her arms in a tight grip. Luz sighed and rubbed her forehead looking back at the road as they came to the edge of the forest, driving past the final trees to a beach area. Following the street through a few turns as the far ocean reflected the moon and stars.
"Amity..."
Luz took a deep breath before parking by the beach. She turned off the car, sitting back in her seat she pulls off her beanie and fisting her hair.
"Your breaking my heart."
Luz choked back a whimper as she lowered her hands, tears pricking her eyes as she turns to look over at Amity.
"I'm here for you. I don't care if you don't want me involved I..."
She stopped herself seeing Amity silently sob into her hands. Luz clicked her tongue looking back through the front window at the moon far up in the distance, floating above the water.
"We're girlfriends right? We love each other, don't we?"
She gulped looking over at Amity seeing her wipe her face with the sleeve of her sweater.
"You... act like I'm not here. Like you can't talk to me. I can see your hurting. But you don't say anything!"
Luz nearly shouted before pulling herself back. A small whimper breaking through her facade as she wiped her tears away before they could fall.
"Your sister was nearly sobbing as she called me."
She said shakily, reaching out to rub her shoulder before pulling her hand back.
"And it... scared me, to hear it from her and not you. How am I suppose to know if your okay, when you don't call me."
Luz voice cracked as she inhaled deeply sniffling.
"Sweet potato I care about you. So much... it hurts to not feel wanted by you. To feel like I can't do anything for you."
"Luz..."
Amity sobbed, with tears streaming down her face she leaned on Luz's shoulder, pulling on the sleeve as she cried into her arm. Luz quickly hugged her, stroking Amitys hair as she held her tightly.
"I know you don't want me involved. I know that, but it's worse knowing your suffering alone."
Luz whispered pulling Amitys onto her lap letting her cry into her shoulder.
"I love you. And you know I'd beat the shit out of your mom if you gave the word."
Amity made a little smile before sobbing louder into Luz's shoulder. Luz leaned back in her seat rubbing Amitys back gently as it shivered.
After a few minutes Amity whimpered as she relaxed in Luz's arms. Luz smiled and kissed her on the cheek.
"You know what you need, ice cream. Thankfully, we got some at my place."
Amity chuckled weakly, her joy fading the longer they sat.
"I'm sorry. Again."
"Don't apologize if you gonna leave me in the dark again. Just know the more ice cream you eat the bigger you'll get."
Luz grunted as Amity punched her stomach. She snickered and sighed.
"Then stop crying. Your my tough girl, my sweet potato, my girlfriend. Please, call me."
Amity nodded and pulled back looking Luz in the eyes.
"I... don't wanna go back there... anymore."
Luz rose her brow and smiled.
"Wanna move in with me then? You'd have to deal with Eda and King. That's not even mentioning Hooty. You sure about this?"
Luz explained, though Amity nodded unfazed.
"Ok. I'll talk to Eda, if so, we'll go buy you some things tomorrow. Tonight you'll sleep with me."
Luz grinned and winked. Amity blushed at Luz's charm before her hopes faded again.
"And if she says no?"
"Who cares."
Luz laughed.
"She had to make due with me, she can make due with you."
Luz rubbed Amitys shoulders and pulled her in closer.
"And please never force your sister to call me again. She made it sound so much worse than it was."
Amity chuckled and pressed her forehead against Luz's.
"Ok... I know they're scared when I get hurt. I just couldn't bring myself to have you hear me crying over the phone."
"At least then I know your ok."
Amity and Luz leaned in close, their lips connected in a soft heartwarming kiss. Amitys arms hooked around Luz's neck holding onto her as Luz's hands went to her hips with a firm grasp on her girlfriend as they made out with little moans. Luz's phone vibrated causing her to groan and break the kiss to reach into her pocket and pull it out.
"Where's my car?!"- Eda
Eda texted with a furious emoji.
"You didn't ask?"
"Your sister cried over the phone that your mom hurt you. I jumped out the window after swiping the keys and sped all the way to you."
Luz explained texting back.
"Still shiny and clean."- Luz
"Be home soon."-Luz
"It better be."-Eda
Luz sighed and looked at Amity who crawled off her lap and sat back in her seat. Luz started the car and pulled out of the beaches parking lot and continued down the road. She quickly glanced at Amitys hand resting on the middle console, and put her hand over Amitys. They intertwined their fingers as she drove. The lights from the tall poles guiding her toward the town.
"When we get there you can a shower. I gotta talk to Eda and somehow get out of washing Hooty again."
Amity leaned back in her seat and curled her legs up to her chest.
"I'll wait for you."
Luz made a questioning hum as she looked over at Amity.
"I uh..."
Amity blushed and licked her lips.
"I still have some spots that uh need to be checked. I patched myself up and couldn't really get my back..."
Luz scoffed embarrassedly and chuckled to herself.
"Right. Good call."
Amity let out a soft sight as she turned to the window seeing stores and houses pass by along with a few cars. She closes her eyes...
"You failed AGAIN!"
Odalia shouted as hit Amitys back with a folded belt. Loud slaps snapped as they made contact with Amity on the floor holding her arms over her face and her legs close. She bit her tongue holding back her whimpers of pain.
"MOM STOP IT!"
Emira shouted in a sob, as her and Edric watched. Odalia ceased and huffed angrily.
"Your grades are falling, again! You didn't show up to the presentation, humiliating us! Me!"
Amity quivered on the floor groaning at the pain stabbing across her back and shoulders.
"We've been through this. Fuck up again, or embarrass this name again! Or so help me Amity I will lock you in this house!"
Odalia shouted before storming away with a fierce grimace on her face. Slamming the door shut prompting Edric and Emira to run to Amitys side.
"Amity!"
They shouted, Edric sitting her up as Emira started to heal the bruise on her cheek. Amity growled lowly rubbing her forehead as she gently pushed the two aside.
"I'm fine. Just leave me alone..."
Amity winced as she stood up, the pain in her back shooting at her nerves like gun fire making her lean against the wall.
"Amity please let me heal you!"
Emira begged holding Amitys arm which was soon pulled away.
"Just... leave me alone..."
Amity grunted using the wall to help herself get to her room.
Edric gestured to Emira, she gulped and whimpered.
"I... called Luz..."
Amity stopped at the door way to her room. She made a audible whimper before loudly slamming the door behind her. She wobbly walked to her bed falling just before reaching the side. Her head pressed into her blanket, fisting the fabric as she held in her cries. Her tears soaked the blanket, she tried to wipe them away but just smeared the black eyeliner down her face. She nearly cried before hearing her window swing open.
"Amity!"
"Amity."
Amity fluttered her eyes open. Looking up at Luz who held open the door for her. She groggily stood out of the car. Luz took off her jacket, putting it over Amitys shoulders as she closed the door and walked her inside. Eda stood just in front of the door taking the keys from Luz before gesturing to king to get in the car.
"Luz."
Eda called out. Luz turned.
"Calm her down, ok. Don't worry about protecting her. Hootys got that, just keep her happy. And patch her up."
Luz nodded and walked her toward her room as Eda closed the door behind her.
"I guess it's just me and you."
Luz smiles warmly rubbing Amitys shoulder. Amity smiled. Luz led her to the bathroom. The tub big enough for at least 4 people, Eda brought a lot of "Friends" over, she is weirdly foxy for her age.
"I'll be right back. Gotta fetch some towels and healing potions. You just go in their and relax okay."
Luz explained getting a nod from Amity who leaned in and kissed her cheek. Luz caressed the spot and walked out closing the door behind her. Amity shivered faintly, she took off Luz's jacket and looked in the mirror. Black streaks down her cheeks, her hair an absolute wild mess, the bruise on her cheek small but very visible.
"I'm a mess..."
She mainly didn't want Luz to see her like this. Every time this happened she'd call in sick and tell Liz she'd see her when she got better, mainly when her bruises healed. She could hear back in the car how broken Luz sounded, how sad she was for her. She took off her sweater, leaning her in her white shirt and pink shorts, little specks of red dotted the shoulder and back of her shirt. She quickly turned on the faucet and cleaned her face. She let her hair down as she removed her shirt and bra, soon her shorts and underwear fell with them on the floor. Her shoulder scarred with imprints of the edges of the belt, some scars deep enough to let blood run out. Her back was in the same state, probably worse. It pulsed with pain, being purple from the bruises and red from blood that leaked out.
She held the wall as she walked to the tub, a shower head over it all. She turned it on to warm, sighing and wincing as the warm water ran over her sensitive bruises. She hissed as she turned her back to it, letting it run over the open scars. She turned around putting her head under the water letting it soak her bright green hair. She felt it was hard to breath for a moment but just lifted her head taking deep breaths as the water ran over her body.
"Amity."
She gasped softly looking toward the door to see Luz, naked holding towels in one arms and a little med bag in the other. Amity relaxed for a moment, turning the water from the shower to the faucet as it begun to fill the tub. Luz with a faint blush set the towels on the counter in front of the mirror before walking toward her setting the med bag on the toilet lid.
"I'll patch you up after the bath, want me to wash your back?"
Amitg turned tomato red but it softened as the pain pierced her again. She struggled to sit for a moment. Luz took Amitys hand, helping her sit.
"Y-Yes please..."
As the tub filled up Luz slowly washed Amitys back. Being very careful as she rubbed over the belt marks. She's not happy at all knowing Amity had been hiding this from her the whole time, but she's just happy to know she can help now.
"Feeling better?"
Luz asked curiously, seeing Amity nod as she sat in a curled position in the tub, Luz sitting behind her. Luz knew she wasn't gonna be better immediately, but In hoping to cheer her up she thought of some ideas.
"Remember when we first met?"
Amity whimpered and rubbed her face with wet hands.
"You never let me forget."
"Cause it was fun at the time."
"It was stupid and childish."
"There wasn't anything childish about beating the shit out of each other."
Luz laughed as Amity groaned.
"You knocked out my tooth."
Amity whined.
"Cause you pulled my hair, and punched me into a tree."
Luz couldn't help but smile.
Amity tried not to smile but let out a small chuckle.
"Yea... I was so pissed..."
"I was surprised, you scared the crap out of me with your magic and yet I still knocked you out."
"Yea yea... rub it in."
Amity grinned to herself recalling the fight. Before the smile faded as the reason came back to her. Luz fought her over Willow.
"Remember when you walked in on me in the bathroom?"
Amity blushed a bright red.
"The others were out of order! It was stupid of them to not just close the bathroom from people going in there if there was just one stall!"
Luz laughed aloud and hugged Amity from behind.
"You looked so cute trying to hold it in~"
Amity rolled her eyes and looked over at Luz's head resting on her shoulder.
"Your making me remember that time where you nearly threw up over seeing an Abomination try to eat food."
Luz groaned and stuck her tongue out disgusted.
"That purple goo touching good food looked so nauseating. I've tried that purple crap, it's basically shit."
Amity giggled booping Luz's nose.
"You can be an idiot sometimes, even id never try eating abomination goo."
"But you love this idiot, don't you?"
Amity turned and kissed Luz's cheek, caressing the other.
"Yes I do. And I'm really sorry I didn't call you sooner."
Luz smiled and kissed her back.
"Water under the bridge. Now let's you cleaned up, patched up, and get my girlfriend some ice cream."
Amity nodded and happily sat there as she cleaned her front while Luz cleaned her back gently. After drying off Luz rubbed some stuff and put bandaids over the scars on Amitys back. Since Amity didn't bring any other clothes she had to wear Edas "cleaner" clothes, she couldn't fit in Luz's shirts due to some body differences that made her embarrassed.
Amity sat on the couch in the living room. A large flat screen tv hanging from the wall across from her.
"She steals a lot. You know Eda."
Luz smiles, walking in wearing pajama pants covered in otters and a tank top with a bowl of ice cream in her hand. She handed the bowl to Amity and sat by her, covering their legs in the blanket.
"Anything you wanna watch?"
Luz asked turning on the tv. Amity never usually watched tv so she just shrugged.
"I'll turn on something easy then."
Luz turned on Gravity Falls. But Amity while eating just couldn't pay attention to the show and instead looked to Luz at her side. Luz looked back and smirked.
"Need something beautiful?"
Amity blushed and leaned against Luz's shoulder.
"Just you."
She said taking a spoon of ice cream in her mouth. Luz put her arm behind Amitys head, resting her hand on her shoulder.
"Love you."
Luz whispered kissing Amitys head. Amity rested her head in the crook of Luz's neck, snuggling against her side as her hand rested on Luz's thigh. Luz took the bowl and set it on the table in front of them.
"Sleepy?"
Amity shook her head.
"Just recharging. Taking you in."
Luz patted Amitys head before stroking her fingers through her hair. Luz yawned as she put her hand over Amitys, closing her eyes as she rested her head on the couch.
"I'm right here. Ok?"
Amity nodded, pressing ear to Luz's chest, using it as a pillow as she closed her eyes. She could hear her heart beating, slow, melodic, gentle. Amity put her left leg over Luz's, slowly dozing off cuddled against her side.
The next morning Luz and Amity awoke and to Eda and King staring at the two and teasing them. To spite them Luz stole back the keys and after changing real quick the two bolted to the car and drove away.
"To think that all happened so quickly."
Amity groaned as she stretched, a small blush burned her cheeks recalling the teasing words of Eda, king being just an adorable asshole as usual.
"Well thank god the writer didnt have to type all that. They're already trying to continue the story after a rough night."
Luz said getting a weird look from Amity, she just shrugged.
"Anyway let's go get those supplies for you. Maybe eat out if thats cool with you..."
Luz said with a faint smirk as she scratched her scalp under her hat. Amity smiled and sighed.
"I suppose that'd be nice."
Luz glanced over and shook her head with a grin.
"Yesterday you were crying and being all lovey dovey, now you back to being this?"
"I wasn't lovey dovey!"
Amity shouted before chuckling to herself.
"Would you have me any other way?"
Luz shook her head.
"I suppose not, but I loved how you cuddled with me~ and even wanted me to shower with you."
Amity blushed and growled. Suddenly her phone vibrated. She pulls it from her pocket not even getting to glance at the name of who was calling before Luz swiped it at a red light, looking at the name she frowned and tossed the phone in the back seat.
"Fuck her."
Luz said nonchalantly making Amity snicker.
"You break it, you buy me a new one."
Luz immediately reached her arm in the back seat as she drove. The car swiftly swerved as she did making Amity take the wheel.
"Luz?!"
Luz looked back and took the wheel.
"Oops, forgot I was driving."
Amity hummed angrily.
"You really don't think before acting."
"Would you have me any other way?"
Luz said smugly. Amity didn't answer, knowing deep down she wouldn't have Luz any other way. Keeps their relationship interesting when it's not her being an absolute dumbass.
They pull up to the mall, the usual place to go for young adults who love spending money. Amity personally only started coming here when Luz would drag her here. Being somewhat familiar with the place the two walked to a goth store. Amity string frustrated at Luz while she just shrugged.
"I'm not."
"Yes you are."
"No I'm not."
"That eyeliner say otherwise."
"Luz."
"Amity I'm not judging. I'll love you regardless."
"What makes you think I wear goth clothes!?"
"You like them when I buy them for you."
Amity paused. Before Luz she typically wore standard high class clothing, or something close to that. Not having the liberty to chose what she wanted to wear. But then Luz brought her these dark clothes that were typically black with grey or white, had a spider nets adoring them and will sometimes have steel spikes poking out them. Even belts that serve no real purpose beside looking fashionable.
"You bought me goth clothes?"
"You like them. And you look good in them. Win win."
Liz acting like the conversations over walked in. Amity awkwardly walking in behind her. The assortment of clothes they passed made her stare a lot longer then she would've. Finding some to look really cute.
"See something you like?"
Luz smiled cockily, as she looked through the rack. Amity groaned and shook her head with a grumble.
"I want to try something else..."
"Hm?"
Amity sighed.
"I wanna wear something... cute."
She murmured with a small blush. Luz looked at her and softened her gaze, she laughed.
"All right. Let's go somewhere else."
Luz took Amitys hand and pulled her out of the store. Amity walked side by side with her, holding her hand tighter. They walked into another store, the clothes their were bright colored, more formal and princessey whatever that meant, Primcessey was the name of the store.
"Too cute."
Amity said just glancing over everything.
"Oh don't say that. These are soft as hell, and look at these bras, damn this feels rich."
"I have a bunch of those already."
"Good to know."
"These kinda just remind me of home. I don't really like it."
"Understandable."
Liz nodded.
"Then why don't we try going to where I shop."
Amity looked at her offended.
"I wear decent clothes!"
"If you call the closest thing to guys clothes decent."
Luz huffed.
"It's my whole jam. As Gus calls me "A dude girl" besides its comfortable."
"I thought you wore them cause you didn't care if they got dirty."
"That's another big part of why I like them. They look good with bloodstains and dirt."
Amity shook her head.
"I'm not shopping in your store."
She said walking away, Luz followed behind rethinking her clothing choices. As they walk into another store Luz gets a call. She groans seeing its Eda.
"Yello?
"For the last time, it's Eda!"
"And for the last time it's just a-"
"Shut up!"
Luz rolls her eyes. Looking to Amity, using hand signals to call Eda cooky.
"Anyway, the girls twin siblings came by to ask if she made it here."
"Oh?"
Luz gestured to Amity that her siblings stopped by the owl house. Amity looked a little solemn hearing that.
"They brought by some of her clothes and her blankets and pillows. How bout instead of just inviting a girl over you talk to me about it?"
Eda growled through the phone.
"You bring guys over all the time. I don't wanna hear that from you. Bye! TTYL!"
"WHAT DOES THAT EVE-"
Luz hangs up groaning.
"So they brought over your clothes. Do you still wanna look for some?"
Amity rubbed her arm, recalling just how distraught they were. The crying, the yelling.
"Amity?"
Luz gently rubbed Amitys shoulder.
"You ok?"
Amity nodded and leaned on Luz's arm resting her head on her shoulder.
"I... wanna dye my hair."
"Woah, you sure about that?"
Luz asked feeling Amitys arm hook around hers. Their hands clasped, intertwined as they held each other. Amity nodded.
"I'm tired of looking at this green and brown vomit."
"Hey, I fell in love with your green and brown vomit."
Luz retorted making Amity chuckle.
"Didn't you say you'd love me regardless?"
Luz snickered and nodded.
"Ok, let's go dye your hair."
They held hands as they changed course. Luz waiting just outside, having bought a drink, a weird pretzel in the shape of a pentagram. They hadn't talked about what color she was going to change her hair too, she honestly wanted to see what just her normal brown hair would look like. Maybe she'd look like a normal girl.
"But since when have I ever wanted normal..."
She looked down at her knees, having this alone time she recalled the marks on Amitys back. They made her wince in disgust, she used to get marks like that. Getting beat up over making fun of some prideful jackass, but after a few times she learned to bring her trusty bat along. The metal really made fights go by quicker, at least it did in the human world. Having no parents most her life she didn't have many friends, no one really got her personally. Until she came here and met the sadistic softy Willow, the prodigal boy genius Gus, and...
Luz heard approaching footsteps, looking up she gaped in awe. Amitys hair beautifully purple as it flowed down the right side of her head like a waterfall.
"Gonna keep gawking?"
Amity snorted crossing her arms with a blush on her face, expecting an answer. Luz at a loss for words stood up, she walked in front of Amity and in a suave action, gently tilted her chin up and kissed her. Amity froze in response before pushing herself up on her tipi toes to kiss back up at Luz, her hands grasping Luz's arms bracing herself as the kiss lingered. The kiss broke slowly, a string of saliva collapsing upon the inches of distance their lips made.
Amitys face a bright red, her eyes hazy as she breathed deeply staring up at Luz. Luz too had a faint shade of pink pricking her brown cheeks, she grinned and held Amitys sides holding her close.
"I couldn't describe how cute you look for the life of me, so I'll just say you look so fucking cool."
Amitys flustered expression broke in a small chuckle.
"God you are just the worst at compliments."
"It's hard to describe perfection~"
Luz smirked kisses Amity again in a more romantic way, a quick kiss on the lips before taking her hand.
"Let's go eat. I'm staring."
"Don't you mean starving?"
"Nope."
Luz and Amity walked to a food court at the center of the mall. Like Luz said, she couldn't stop staring at Amity, admittedly Amity felt a bit anxious at this but Luz will be Luz. After eating and handholding they went back to the car driving back to the owl house. Luz put the roof down so the wind really took their hairs on a trip, tho it was mainly to see Amitys amazing hair flow like a unicorns mane. But after a few minutes Amity shot that imagination down stealing Luz's beanie to keep her hair from going crazy in the wind. Luz's head felt victim to the cool breeze.
"Yo."
Luz said walking into the house, hanging the keys by the door. Eda grumbled.
"Tell those twins their sister is fine or something! They stopped by 2 more times questioning if your girlfriend was ok!"
Amity walked in, Luz's beanie covering most of her head.
"We're they ok?"
Eda sighed.
"Call them yourself and find out!"
Luz stuck her tongue out at Eda demeaningly, Eda responding the exact same way as Amity pulled Luz up to her room. Luz closed the door and fell onto her bed with a huff. Amity sitting on the edge of her bed.
"You ok?"
Luz made a content noise muffled by her pillow.
"Your just so amazing..."
Amity smiled and blushed.
"But also a little dumb."
Luz continued getting a flick to the back of her head.
"Excuse me?"
Luz sat up and turned to Amity suspiciously.
"You never ask for help. You keep things bottled up. And you hate it when other people help you."
Amity taken aback looked down at her hands as they fisted the edge of her shirt.
"Even from the beginning you though it was better to walk alone. Even I thought that and all I got was shit on."
Luz explained.
"You cried. That's a step up from looking dead tired all the time. I took you out to cheer you up. Opening up can take alot out of a person. We hang out all the time, we act like pieces of shit to each other cause it's all we know, but between us, it's just our language. It was nice to go shopping together, see what clothes you liked. I don't get to see that girly side of you often. Sometimes it's good to be childish and regress to that happy state of childlike enjoyment-"
"What are you trying to say?"
Amity blurted out, her voice in shambles. Luz sighed and sat on the edge of the bed, she put her hand over Amitys tightly closed hand and felt her grip loosen.
"I love you. And I want you to rely on me. Wether it's to keep you grounded, or a support beam. Just stop looking down on me, it's hurts to keep looking up at you."
Amity exhaled shakily and quivered. She bit her lip tightly as tears rushed down her face.
"I really need you to know I can help. I understand wanting to find the solution yourself, but sometimes you look too hard and just glance over it."
"This is my mom Luz!"
Amity burst out.
"What ca- what do I... what am I supposed to do...?"
Luz pressed her head against Amitys.
"You've been growing this whole time Amity. You've found the exit. Your just afraid of what you'll leave behind."
Amity gulped leaned back against Luz, clutching her hand tightly.
"Your strong Amity. I love a girl that can kick my ass but if you don't break that last chain holding you down. Then won't you just be hurting yourself? Im not saying fight her, your mom. But, unlike her, your sturdy, you don't care much for appearances and you have so much more to offer than what she could ever give. Maybe if you take her down a peg, she'll rethink her parenting choices."
Amity made a small defeated chuckle, she wiped her face of her tears and looked at Luz.
"If I do this, you'll be there, right?"
"Girl if it came to fists, I would kick that woman's ass, and maybe dye her hair yellow to spite her."
"Why yellow?"
"Cause when she walks she looks like she has to pee all the fucking time!"
Amity sighed, but smiled.
