Hello, my lovely readers and happy Valentines Day!
We got a special today as it is written by our very own Gemwing2012!
She has given me permission to post this story, so all credit goes to her.
Anyhoo, without further delay, let's begin our story
Valentine Fiasco
It's Valentine's Day on the Inkwell Isles, the most romantic holiday of the year and all the residents are celebrating the occasion by exchanging gifts, tokens of affections and spending time with their special someone.
Everyone, but a certain dragon girl.
Katie Gemwing, a young woman at the age of 34 and single, sadly sighed as she strolled through the streets of Inkwell City among the bustling crowd of shoppers and passing couples.
Just like her two friends, Lexie Luthor and Natty, as a human from the Real World sucked into the cartoon universe, Katie was more differently animated from the 1930s rubber hose art style of the toons weaving past her. She still had her five fingers for one thing and her animated form seemed to be either more Disney or Anime like. Even her outfit differs from the attire one normally sees from the 30s.
Katie's attire consisted of a crystal blue cold shoulder hoodie/jacket with flowing, bell-shaped sleeves, white lapels, dark blue buttons, breast pockets and white rimes hoodie pockets. Underneath the jacket is a midnight blue tank top with light blue on the collar and shoulders and long midnight blue handless gloves with light blue rims and a white teardrop on the knuckles. She also wore medium navy blue denim jeans with white buttons and a purple belt with a small bag attached to it over her right hip as well as a silver bracelet on her right wrist and black knee-high boots with belt designs. Lastly, she wore a silver locket shaped and designed like a book with a blue heart design with wings and a teardrop-shaped diamond in the center.
Although she's different animation wise and is a tomboy, Katie is still rather beautiful in her own right with her silky dark brown hair done in a bob-cut, fair skin and bright sky blue eyes, which occasionally sparkle like starry gemstones.
Katie is most admirable among her friends and the residents for her bubbly, imaginative, adventurous, creative and free-spirited personality. And her dragon form is most beautiful.
But that wasn't the only thing that made her special.
During the events of being pulled into the Cuphead game universe, Katie had gained magical abilities that concerns her turning into a dragon with an interesting backstory that implies she had never been human to begin with.
But that's another story for another time.
Her dragon form is a radiant creature with crystal blue scales, her underbelly a pearly white as well as her curvy horns. She has small, dainty deer-like ears and a long tail with a tuft of white fur at the tip and white spines on the base of the tail. She has four claws and a du claw and her head is crowned with a white crest that is a mane like a horse. She still has her blue eyes and she has large, feathery wings that are midnight blue and occasionally sparkles like stars.
Her dragon form accessorized with a necklace that consisted of a round blue gemstone with five silver beads (two on each end of the top and one at the bottom) and two purple scarf-like ribbons with light blue tips at the bottom to make it an impression of a dreamcatcher on a dark blue-black band. She also white gold bracelets with points at the top, bearing blue teardrop-shaped gems as well as tiny round blue gems at the bottom on her forelegs.
However, despite all of those traits, she's still single. Not that she minds. She's content with being single due to the fact she's in no hurry. That and she has difficulties finding a special someone due to the fact she was bullied at school mostly by boys. Of course, she knows that not all men are like that… she wasn't sure if she's ready for such a commitment.
Making her way into the park, Katie pauses as she notices the dog couple, Sherman and Doris, sitting down at a bench. Grinning bashfully, Sherman pulls out a large heart-shaped box full of sweets and a huge bouquet of flowers behind his back, presenting them to his tiny wife. The normally temperamental Doris swooned, giddy as a schoolgirl as she accepted the tokens of affections before she and Sherman kissed, wagging their tails.
Next, Katie spotted Sally Stageplay and her husband over at the lake, happily rowing down in a rowboat. Sally batted her eyelashes lovingly as her husband presented her a bouquet of roses.
Even the Mayor and his wife were having a romantic picnic. The Mayor got onto one knee and presented his wife a small box. When he opened it, there was a very large heart-shaped pink diamond in it. Just as Mrs. Mayor was awed and moved by the gesture, her husband made a "hold on a moment" motion, confusing her.
With a closed-eyed, knowing smile, the Mayor reaches into the box and takes the diamond out, revealing it to be attached to a string of pure, lustrous pearls.
"Oh!" Mrs. Mayor fawned, blushing before she grabs her husband in for a romantic smooch.
"If he and Mugsy weren't back at the cottage, doing their chores, Cuphead would have thought of all this as mushy stuff." Katie giggled inwardly.
She then sighed, feeling a bit saddened by this. If she had to be honest with herself, she always feels left out every Valentine's Day. It was actually a lonely holiday for one who is single and doesn't have someone special they could celebrate it with.
Unknown to the young woman, a periscope pops out of the ground, turning left and right with a rusty creaking sound until it zeroed in on her direction. The eye of the individual spying on her narrowed lustfully while watching her every movement.
Down below in the Underworld, the Devil was peering through his periscope as he had decided to either find another dumb yokel to trick into giving him their soul or at least try to get Cuphead's once and for all, when his evil eyes had caught sight of Katie all by herself, lonely and depressed of being the only one without a Valentine.
"Well, well, well. It would seem that my pretty little songbird is having a lonely Valentine's Day, is she?" The Devil mused, intrigued.
He pushes his periscope back up as he holds his chin in thought, getting a devious idea on how to get Katie to be his queen.
Perhaps Valentine's Day can work to his benefit.
"Hmm. Perhaps I should go pay dear Katie a visit and give her a Valentine she'll never forget…" the Devil snickered, rubbing his hands together with a malicious grin.
Grabbing his pitchfork, the Devil prepared to take his leave for the surface world. Henchman stood close by, waiting for orders.
"Bring out the best china and finest silverware when preparing a romantic dinner tonight, Henchman," the Devil commended as he levitated off the floor. "I have a blushing bride to be in need of being swept off her feet."
As the Devil floats away, a happily tearful Henchman gushes over the statement, clasping his gloved hands together.
"D'aww! I knew the Boss would get into the spirit of Valentine's Day!"
Back on the surface world, Katie was seated on a bench in front of the water fountain in the heart of Inkwell Park, sighing as she rested her cheek in her hand as she watched all the happy couple passing by on a romantic stroll, exchanging gifts, going on picnics and buying each other heart-shaped balloons and some of those cute little teddy bears with hearts on them.
Lost in her own thoughts, she didn't know that the Devil had poofed onto the scene, watching her from afar, snickering deviously as he prepared to kick his plan into action. Tapping his pitchfork to the ground, the Devil disappears in a puff of smoke.
"I think I should get myself some ice cream and make the most of it," Katie considered mentally. "Maybe I could buy some cookies and chocolates on my way back to the cottage and share them out with Nat, Lexie and the others. I might not have a special someone to celebrate Valentine's Day with, but I can still make time with my friends."
Happy with her plan, Katie got up and was about to leave and go look for the nearest ice cream cart to buy a cone when…
*POOF!*
A large cloud of smoke appeared right in front of Katie, startling her so much, it had her stumble back onto the bench behind her. As the smoke cleared, she was alarmed and horrified to see the Devil in front of her, holding something behind his back. Of course, she wasn't the only one who was shocked to see him.
"THE DEVIL!" The anthropomorphic elephant with green overalls screamed, pointing at the Devil before he trumpets in terror and runs away.
All of the loving couple screamed in fright as they ran away, leaving Katie completely alone with the Devil. About everyone had fled in terror before the Devil's presence except for a little blue jay perched up on a tree, who was watching the whole scene with the Devil seductively looming over the nervous Katie.
"Ta-da! Hello, my lovely Katie!" He announced with a dramatic flourish and a grin that could put even the Cheshire Cat's to shame.
Katie nervously leaned back as she demanded, "What do you want now, Devil?"
"Why, I came all this way to give these to you." He replied, handing her a large bouquet of roses tied perfectly with a ribbon. "I know that roses are your favorite."
"Uh… th-thank you?" Katie said awkwardly, arching an eyebrow. "But since when do you ever celebrate Valentine's Day? I read somewhere it's not really your cup of tea."
"Well, this is the one time I decided to celebrate! And who better to spend the day with than my sweet little Katie?"
As if for extra emphasis, the Devil's tail curved itself into the shape of a heart as he smiled seductively, regarding Katie with half-lidded bedroom eyes.
Sensing where this is about to go, Katie hands the bouquet back to the Devil as she gets up from the bench. Despite the Devil being taller than her, she stood firm with her rejection.
The Devil rolled his eyes. "Always playing hard to get, are we? Now listen, I hate seeing you all alone on this lovely day. So how about you and I go on a date?"
Unnerved by the Devil's advances, Katie began to walk away as she said, "Um, no thank you, but I… I have other things to do. Goodbye."
With that, she began to walk down the dirt path cutting through the park. As long as she keeps walking and ignoring the Devil, he'll leave her alone and go home himself, right?
Unfortunately, Old Scratch isn't one to give up so easily.
Just as Katie was making her way through the park, she squeaked, startled as the Devil, in his dragon form, slithered from out of nowhere and coiled his serpentine body around her. As he firmly yet carefully gripped his prey, the Devil held up a very large heart-shaped box of chocolates with a ribbon tied around it. No doubt he had got them just for her.
Typical.
"Oh, and what plans do you have today?" He asked with a wicked grin. "I do have a free schedule, and I would love to spend it with you."
Katie struggled in the Devil's clutches, getting rather unnerved but also annoyed as she glared up at the Devil. She was not in the mood to be pestered by him and his twisted attempts to flirt with her.
On Valentine's Day no less!
"Something you shouldn't be so concerned about!" She snapped. "So, let go of me and crawl back under the rock you slithered out from, you overgrown glorified rattlesnake! Leave me alone!"
She grimaced as the Devil grips her chin with one of his talons in reply as he smirks down at her seductively.
"Did anyone ever tell you you're so cute when you're mad?" He asked. "I like that in a woman."
Growling in disgust, Katie wrenched her chin out of the Devil's claw. She squirmed some more until she managed to pry her arms free of his coils and pushed them down as far as she could. Once she freed herself, she transformed into her own dragon form and flew up into the air, hovering in front of the surprised Devil.
"I am not in the mood for any of your flirting or attempts to make me your queen, Devil!" She spat. "Now if you excuse me, I'd like to go about the rest of my day and go home!"
The Devil pondered over for a second before responding, "You know what, darling? You're absolutely right."
Katie was surprised and confused by the Devil's statement as she uttered, "Huh?"
"I will let you go home… my home to be precise. The two of us will be married when we arrive."
Katie's blue eyes widened in horror as she realized her mistake. Just as the Devil made a grab for her, she dodged his swipes and flew away as fast as her wings could carry her.
The Devil frowned but then smirked in amusement. It was most entertaining to see his prey try and fail to run away from him. So he doesn't see the harm in playing the old game of cat and mouse for a bit.
"Ooh I love it when she runs. Makes it more exciting."
Cackling maliciously, the Devil takes flight and gives chase. Witnessing the whole thing, the worried blue jay hovers off his tree branch and flitters away to find help.
Meanwhile, Katie continuously flies across the sky, trying to get away from the Devil.
"I hate it when he twists my words like that!" She exclaimed frantically. "I knew I should have stayed at the cottage! Why didn't I think about asking Kaichi and the girls to come with me?!"
As she continued to fly, she then heard the Devil's cackling voice warn her, "You cannot run from me forever, my pet! I will get you one way or another!"
Katie briefly looked behind her to see the Devil pursuing her. She gasped in terror before she pumped her wings harder, flying as fast as she could, trying to get away as the Devil attempted to gain on her.
"Go away!" She screamed.
The Devil chased her throughout the park. As a dragon, Katie is a very strong and fast flier. Unfortunately, so was the Devil. It was a matter of time until he will eventually catch her.
It wasn't long until the Devil had chased Katie out of the park and straight into town, scaring off several townspeople with his presence alone as he pursued his prey.
Managing to get some distance from the Devil, Katie swooped down and ducked behind a mailbox. Sitting down like she would as a human, she pressed her back up against the mailbox, pulling her back legs up and folded her wings tightly behind herself. She pulled tail back and grimaced nervously just as the Devil flew over her, seemingly not seeing her.
The moment the Devil was gone, Katie slumped down, her ears drooping and her wings sagging to her sides.
"Finally…" she sighed, brushing back her crest with a paw. "I was starting to think I'd never lose him. He's such a persistent creep…"
However, unknown to Katie, the Devil, in his normal form, had poofed up behind her on the other side of the mailbox, leaning against it with a devious grin.
"Hmm, hiding behind the mailbox, huh? Well, guess she'll be a special delivery to me!"
Katie's ears perked up and turned her head to see the Devil behind her. She yelped in alarm and quickly shot up into the air just as he tried to grab her. The Devil caught himself as he was comically sprawled over the mailbox on his stomach, flailing about to keep his balance. He pulled himself off the mailbox and glanced up to see Katie frantically flying away.
"Tsk tsk tsk, always playing hard to get, are we? No matter. I'm quite persistent and will get what I want."
Gripping his pitchfork, the Devil levitated off the ground and flew after Katie yet again, enjoying the thrill of the hunt.
"Doesn't he ever give up?!" Katie thought in annoyance as the Devil continued to pursue her, the chase leading them straight into Inkwell Pier.
Normally, Katie is a smart young woman, but at times fear and desperation can often lead individuals astray and hastily make rash decisions without a second thought. But this was not one of those times.
Katie had landed in one of the seats at the top of the ferris wheel. Sighing in relief, she slumped back against the backrest of the seat, thinking she was finally safe.
However, it didn't last very long, when the Devil teleported next to her. Placing his arm around her, he crooned "How sweet! You saved me a spot. The top of the ferris wheel always do have the loveliest and most romantic views of the seafront at sunsets… or under the stars, wouldn't you agree?"
Katie gasped in disgust as the Devil teasingly trailed his hand down on one of her wings, running his fingers across her opalescent, velvety feathers as he would with her hair.
"Speaking of stars, did anyone ever tell you that your wings are like pieces of the night sky?" The Devil purred seductively. "And they're so soft to the touch. Beautiful…"
"Get off of me!" Katie shrieked as she pushed the Devil back with her claws before smacking him across the face with her tail.
She quickly jumps out of her seat and flies away as fast as her wings could carry her. Frowning, the Devil straightened up in his seat, rubbing his cheek.
"How rude! And we didn't even finish the ride! Argh, fine. Guess I'll have to try something else."
Tapping his pitchfork, the Devil teleports off the ferris wheel, continuing the chase once more.
Back with Katie, she swooped down and landed on the dock of the pier's amusement park. But she knew that she can't stay in place for long since the Devil is still after her. She galloped past the crowd until she ran inside a fun house attraction. It was only a matter of time until she found herself in a hall of mirrors, surrounded by a lot of mirrors and she saw multiple reflections of herself.
Exhausted, Katie groaned as she sat down, her tired wings hanging limp around her.
"Please tell me the Devil won't think of finding me in here…"
Unfortunately, luck was not on her side, as the reflections of herself changed into the Devil, grinning evilly at her.
"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who shall I marry once and for all? Oh yes… YOU!" He cackled.
Rearing back like a frightened horse, Katie screamed as the multiple images of the laughing Devil reached out from the mirrors and tried to grab her. She quickly spun around and dashed out of the hall of mirrors, the Devil creeping out from one of the mirrors.
"Leave me alone!" Katie shouted as she fled.
Upon escaping the fun house, Katie took to the air once again, the grinning Devil trailing behind her. He continued to chase her back into town. Getting exhausted, Katie frantically looked around for a place to hide. She didn't care where. She just wanted to lose the Devil once and for all!
Katie swooped down and ducked into an alleyway. Exhausted from the chase, she was forced back into her human form and pressed herself against the wall. She covered her mouth with her hands as she watched the Devil floating past, not even seeing her.
"Oh great, now where did she go…?" He trailed off.
Katie tried to keep her breathing steady, her heart pounding against her ribcage. It was beating so fast, she was sure it was going to leap right out of her chest.
"Please, oh please… don't let him find me…" She begged mentally.
Somehow, luck eventually threw her a bone as a frustrated Devil continued to move forward, completely oblivious to the fact she was right under his nose.
Figuratively speaking of course.
Uncovering her mouth, Katie had let out a huge sigh of relief as she pulled away from the wall. However, she had a feeling that the Devil might come back. She needed to keep moving and get back to the cottage as soon as possible.
Leaving her hiding spot behind her, Katie trudged through the alley, in hopes the Devil won't be able to pick up her trail. As she walked, she jumped when she heard a loud, metallic crash.
Gasping, Katie spun around and… spotted a dazed cat poking its head out from a tipped over trash can. Shaking its head, the cat meows and scampers away. Giggling sheepishly, Katie pressed a hand against her chest, relieved that it wasn't the Devil.
Sighing, she backs away… straight into a giant spider's web!
"Wait, what?!" Katie cried in alarm and horror as she struggled to pull away, but she was stuck tight.
As she panicked and struggled to break free, suddenly, the Devil appeared, in his spider form, crawling slowly down to his catch. Now, small spiders are something Katie can tolerate. The big ones, though, they really scare her. And this was no different.
"Well, it seems that you're caught in my net, my little dragonfly." He sneered.
Due to her exhaustion from the chase earlier, Katie did not have either the energy nor strength to defend herself against the Devil. She was trapped and at his complete mercy.
"Let me go!" She demanded as she struggled some more.
"Oh, I think not! And since you're mine, I'll take you back to my domain and we'll be married there!" He laughed wickedly.
To see to it that Katie wouldn't put up a further fight, the Devil wraps a bit of webbing around her chest, keeping most of her arms down while tying her wrists together in front of her. Katie struggled to pull away, but both the weight of the Devil's spidery form over her body and the giant web she's stuck onto from behind held her fast.
In such a dire situation, she did the next best thing she could think of: scream for help.
"LEXIE! NATTY! SOMEONE, PLEASE HELP- Mmph!"
Having enough of Katie's futile cries for help, the Devil stuck some webbing over her mouth.
"No need to scream, my love. You're too far from the cottage and your friends have no idea you belong to me now!" He sneered, stoking her cheek gently.
Muffling helpless whimpers, Katie turned her away as tears of panic began to well up in her eyes. The Devil tilts her chin up with one of his spidery legs and turns her head back. The tears began to stream down from her eyes as she saw her tear-soaked and panic-stricken face reflected in the Devil's many eyes.
"Aww, no need to be upset. The sooner we're married, the sooner you'll enjoy the pleasures of being my little wife and queen." He mentioned in a sickly gentle tone, wiping away a few of Katie's tears.
"No… this… this can't end like this!" Katie wept inwardly. "This isn't right! I can NEVER love the Devil! He can't take me away! Why can't he leave me alone!? Please! I just want to go home to be with my friends! Lexie… Natty… anybody… please, help!"
The Devil's many legs spawned hands as he was prepared to grip Katie and take her back to the Underworld when…
*POW!*
A fireball hit the Devil's back, causing him to shout in pain.
"OOOWWW! What the-!" He began but was cut off when he saw Lexie, Natty and Kaichi quickly approach, all three looking angry.
Lexie is a young woman at the age of 24 with fair skin, long curly blonde hair in a ponytail with red ribbon-like scrunchy and emerald green eyes. Her outfit consists of a gray jacket over a red blouse, dark blue jeans and brown boots. She additionally wore a silver butterfly necklace and a black newspaper boy hat with a red band and a golden butterfly in a circle pin.
Natty is a young woman a year younger than Lexie at the age of 23 with black hair, tanned skin and brown eyes. She wears a pink shirt, a denim skirt over black leggings, white socks and shoes. She also wore a star necklace.
Kaichi is a small pocket-sized dragon-like creature called a Sprigon (a combination of sprite and dragon). Instead of scales, he is covered in seafoam white fur. He has small blue spines on the base of his back and the back of his head. His blue crest resembles a tuft of hair, his tail is long, bushy and fox-like with a blue tip and all four of his paws are blue, each with a circular light pink paw pad. His ears are long, pointy and almost rabbit-like with light pink insides and blue tips, atop of his head are small silver antlers and his eyes are aqua green. Instead of being either traditionally bat-like or even feathery, Kaichi's wings are more flowery. They are a light sea green with dark blue tips while the stalks are black. He also wears a midnight blue bandana with a silver rim.
Katie's eyes widened with joy.
"Guys!" She called out, her cries of joy and relief muffled due to the web over her mouth.
"Back off, you freak!" Natty shouted as she held her spell book in her hands.
"Argh! You are all sooo annoying! Can't you see I'm busy?!" The Devil shouted.
"Yeah! Busy bein' a CREEP!" Lexie countered.
As the Devil was distracted with Lexie and Natty, he didn't notice Kaichi had flittered around and reached Katie. The Sprigon began to claw, bite and pull at the web around her wrists. Unfortunately, the Devil took a moment to look behind him and spot Kaichi struggling to free his captive.
"Hang on, Kate! I'll help ya!" Kaichi assured as he pulled at the webbings.
"Hey! You stay away from my bride, you pesky puffball!" The Devil shouted and attempted to attack Kaichi, only to get hit by another fireball. "Yowch!"
Snarling angrily, the Devil turned back around to glare daggers of fire at Lexie and Natty.
"Seriously? She's not interested!" Natty shouted.
"That's right! So back off!" Lexie added as she summoned a huge flyswatter with her magic.
All six of the Devil's spidery eyes widened as he realized where this was about to go.
"Oh no…" he gulped nervously.
*SMACK!*
Katie and Kaichi flinched as they turned their heads away just as the Devil got smacked down by the giant flyswatter.
"Oh, that's gotta hurt." Natty winced, covering her eyes with her hands.
"You're telling me." Kaichi cringed, opening an eye.
Lexie's flyswatter disappears, revealing the spider Devil slightly squashed flat after he got swatted, groaning in disorientation before he reverted back into his original form.
Lexie and Natty dashed around the dazed Devil and began to free Katie from the web. Once her bindings were ripped away, Katie dusted herself, sighing in relief.
"Thanks, guys. That was a CLOSE one." She said with a grateful smile.
"No worries, girl," Lexie replied. "I'd probably be more careful about going anywhere alone in the future."
Katie suddenly looks confused as she thought about something. "But how did you all know that the Devil was after me again and where to find me?"
There was a little twittering as a certain blue jay flew around the three young women before landing on Natty's shoulder.
"Aww, thanks, little guy." Natty cooed to the bird.
The blue jay chirped happily in reply.
"You were lucky this bird saw what happened," Natty explained. "He witnessed the Devil bothering you and flew to warn us."
Katie was surprised at first before she broke out into a warm smile. She held out her hand and for the blue jay. The tiny bird hopped onto her palm as Katie brought him over to her face.
"Thank, my little friend," Katie crooned. "You're the real hero. I owe you my life. Thank you."
She tenderly kisses the blue jay, who actually blushes in reply. Chirping, the blue jay flutters up from Katie's hand and begins to fly off for home, the girls waving him off.
"Well, that was crazy." Natty sighed. "The Devil cannot take a hint!"
"Ugh! For real!" Lexie agreed. "He just won't take no for an answer and leave it at that!"
"I know," Katie added. "And, of all days, he attempted to kidnap and marry me yet again on Valentine's Day! And that's not how I actually wanted to celebrate it. Even… if I am still single…"
To help Katie to take her mind off of today's incident with the Devil, Natty had an idea that might cheer Katie up when they'd get back to the cottage.
"Hey, I had an idea! How about we all go to the movies? We could watch a good one at the picture show and get some chocolate."
Katie perked up at the mention of chocolate since it's her most favorite food.
"I'd happy to spend time with y'all." Lexie smiled. "Love seeing a good movie."
"Movies and chocolates sound like a good idea," Katie said, feeling better already. "Thanks, guys. You're the best."
Perched on Katie's shoulder, Kaichi puffed his cheeks, pouting.
"You, too, bud," Katie giggled as she playfully patted his back with her finger. "I still love you."
"Yeah, you were just as much help earlier, partner." Lexie chirped.
"And we certainly can't forget you," Natty chimed in as she ruffled Kaichi's fur.
Moved and satisfied, Kaichi smiled proudly as he puffed his chest out as he said, "Good to know."
"Mind if Liam and Matt come along?" Lexie asked. "I don't think they've got anything planned."
"Sure. Maybe we could invite Cuphead, Mugman and Elder Kettle as well," Katie suggested. "You know, just so that they won't feel left out."
"Eh, sure, why not?" Natty answered. "The more the merrier."
"I think I also know of a lovely little sweet shop that sells some varieties of cookies and chocolates on the way back," Katie said. "Maybe we can stop by there and get some for the movies back home."
"I call dibs on the chocolate chip kind!" Kaichi exclaimed in excitement.
All three women laughed as they began to take their leave. As the humans and Sprigon left the alleyway, the Devil groaned as he recovered from being swatted. When he saw that he was completely alone, he grumbled in frustration at the fact that his chosen bride had eluded him once again thanks to the interference of her meddling friends.
"I hate Valentine's Day…"
Pulling himself up onto his feet, he takes out his pitchfork and teleports back to the Underworld.
In the dining hall, the Devil snarled in fury as he threw the bouquet of roses he intended to give to Katie and incinerated it with a fiery blast from his pitchfork. The ashy remains crumbled into a pile onto the ground before a nervous imp scurries over and sweeps it up. Once the mess was cleaned up, the imp frantically scampers out of the room.
The Devil sighed as he slumped back into his chair at the long dining table, waiting for dinner as Henchman carted a tray of food over to him.
"Duh, here you go, Boss," Henchman said. "Gee, sorry that Miss Katie didn't accept your invitation to have a romantic dinner date tonight. But there's no point in letting a nice meal go to waste."
"Argh! Honestly! I failed to see the appeal of such a meaningless holiday like Valentine's Day!" The Devil growled. "A whole day where mortals go around giving each other chocolates and flowers… and spreading love! Bleh! I should have stayed in bed!"
"Duh, I dunno, Boss. I really shouldn't underestimate the power of love," Henchman stated. "It can be a pretty powerful thing after all."
The Devil simply scoffed as he rolled his eyes.
Henchman sets the food onto the table and removes the metal to reveal a lovely looking dish. And to mention that it smells delicious.
"Well… I have to admit, you've done a good job and a lot of work in making this, Henchman."
"D'aw, thanks, Boss." Henchman blushed.
After a few minutes of enjoying a nice dinner, the Devil leans back in his seat, sighing. He had to admit, the food was absolutely delicious. Henchman was right, there was no point in letting such a well made and decent meal go to waste.
Once the empty dinner plate was cleared away and just as the Devil was drinking his wine glass, Henchman returned to the table and placed a little surprise for his boss: dessert.
As the metal covering was removed, the Devil gasped in delight, his eyes sparkling with pure joy and excitement.
"Oooh! Devil's food cake! My favorite! And it's so well decorated!"
Grabbing the fork, the Devil happily dug into the cake, taking several careful and dainty bites to savor every crumb, not minding the cake was beautifully decorated with Valentine themed cake decorations, ranging from wafer hearts and pink frosting in the shape of roses.
As he watched the Devil enjoying his dessert, Henchman smiled gently, happy with cheering him up. Everyone deserves to feel a bit special on Valentine's Day. Even his boss.
After all, celebrating Valentine's Day doesn't have to be limited to couples. It, too, can be celebrated among all we hold very near and dear like friends and families.
"D'aww… Happy Valentine's Day, Boss."
And there ya have it folks! One amazing advenutre for Katie and co.!
