A/N: Hi there!
Short story coming your way.
The Lost Warrior is still being worked on.
Dragon Hero's Fury is also being worked on.
And Slayers of Kuoh is being worked on as well.
None of these stories are dead, discontinued or orphaned just yet.
Special announcement…
The Lost Warrior is getting a Revised and Uncut edition for both FFN and AO3. Once I have gotten far enough along with The Lost Warrior on FFN, I will start posting chapters for its Revised and Uncut edition.
For now though, let's get started!
Bardock, Goku, Vegeta and Gogeta are my favorite characters from all of Dragon Ball. As such, I have to make sure they get their proper due in stories that best suit them.
Warrior Against Fate is inspired by Bardock Alone Against Fate DLC from DBZ Kakarot, Bardock The Father of Goku TV Special/Movie and the featured stories in DB Minus and DB Super that chronicle a few of Bardock's exploits. Xenoverse 2 also gets a nod because they gave my guy Super Saiyan 3.
Like with Marvel's 'What If…?' series, we get to see what happens when Bardock receives the boon of interacting with the fabric of space time. And we get to see him have a proper grudge match with Frieza.
Warning: This story per site guidelines has been rated T for Teens and Up. You will likely see violence, blood and a bit of gore. The stuff that help make the original, uncut DBZ awesome.
Disclaimer: Dragon Ball was created by Akira Toriyama and is owned by Bird Studio/Shueisha. The franchise has produced numerous games, films, companion books and manga volumes. All characters and properties belong to the rightful ownership.

Ravines of Time
Bardock, currently a Super Saiyan 3, glared hard at Mira. Despite the Demonic Bio-android's superior power, Bardock had managed to overwhelm him.
Deep down though, Bardock felt that his body was rejecting what his soul had been yearning for. From what little he could recall, all while brainwashed by the demon witch Towa, Super Saiyan 3 presented a tremendous strain on the body. Just look at Kakarot. The Saiyan Hero of Earth could only use the form proper in the Sacred World of the Kais or Otherworld. And even when Kakarot utilized the form against Majin Buu, the strain was still too much.
So, here Bardock was in a form only his son had reached and body breaking down. But his soul was ignited. Even more so it was yearning to go on.
With a few scratches and bruises, Bardock clenched his fists and summoned his aura once more.
"Right… it's time to finish this." He declared.
Mira growled, incensed at the fact that a low-level warrior of Bardock's power was overwhelming him. It made no sense. Mira was designed and engineered to surpass the likes of Frieza, Cell and Buu. He was meant to ascend into the upper echelons of warriors, a credit to the Saiyan cells in his body. But now?
("I won't stand for this! I have to get back! I will not lose here to the likes of him!")
Mira roared, dark aura exploding. Winds buffeted against Bardock's person, expression neutral. A bright blue light ignited from Bardock's right hand. If one were to look, the shadow of the Oozaru stood behind the Saiyan Rebel. Additionally, Bardock felt the guiding hands of his squad and his family.
("Tora… Fasha… Shugesh… Borgos…")
Bardock's right hand opened up a bit, revealing a tiny blue orb filled with the spirit of Saiyans and the bonds in his life.
("Gine… Raditz… Kakarot… Gohan… Goten… Chi-Chi… Videl… Pan…")
"Give me strength to finish this guy off." He uttered.
Bardock shifted his stance and drew his right arm back.
"Ka…me…"
Mira glared hatefully at the Saiyan, thrusting his hands into the air. Like Buu and Frieza, Mira had his own attack that would cause massive destruction and mayhem. But this technique was named after one Goku learned from King Kai.
This technique was Mira's Dark Spirit Bomb.
"Ha…me…"
Summoning more and more power, Mira created a dark orb greater than the size of Frieza's spaceship. Growling, Mira stared the Saiyan Rebel down, noticing that the aura of the Super Saiyan and bioelectricity encompassed Bardock's form. Not only that, the blue light in Bardock's hand was gathering pure energy from across the different universes and different timelines.
"This ends now!" Mira snarled.
Grunting, Mira threw his hands down and thus, the Dark Spirit Bomb rapidly made its way towards Bardock. A few moments passed and Bardock stared down the bastardized version of King Kai's and Kakarot's technique. Thursting his right hand forward, Bardock unleashed everything he had.
"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
The attacks met head on, neither giving an inch. Both fighters gritted their teeth, auras ignited and power outpouring. In the Ravines of Time, the crystals that had represented aspects of time and space across the entire Xenoverse began to feel adverse effects from the clash of power. Some even began to crack under the pressure exuded by the battle.
Mira narrowed his eyes and pushed more power into his attack, aura expanding. Despite the slight pushback from Mira's effort, Bardock never wavered.
("I won't lose here.")
"I. Will. Change. THE FUTURE!" he exclaimed determinedly.
One last surge steadily but surely pushed back Mira's attack.
"Impossible?!" Mira shouted.
Bardock roared, eyes wide as his attack overwhelmed Mira's in mere moments. Mira braced himself as best he could but it was no use. The minute his attack made contact, the pressure was too much for the Bio-android. Bardock's own rendition of the Kamehameha continued to carry Mira's Dark Spirit Bomb, said Demon helplessly being carried away.
"DAMN YOU BARDOCK!"
And suddenly… it was over. Somewhere off in the distance, Bardock could see the explosion. Assuming a normal posture, Bardock let himself have a moment to gather his thoughts.
At least, for what little time he had left.
Smirking, the Saiyan who dared defied Frieza felt the power of legends leave him. Long golden hair now became the short black spikes many confused for his youngest. Chuckling a bit, Bardock swayed a bit before tipping backwards.
("Would have been nice… traveling through time to do some good…")
Bardock felt the rest of his reserves leave him for the most part. Nothing supporting his flight, Bardock began his descension through the ever-expansive Ravines of Time. As he began to lose consciousness, Bardock thought of his squad and his family.
("One day… maybe that one day I'll see you all in the next life…")
Bardock, the Saiyan Rebel… the strongest Low-Class of the ultimate warrior race… would have been lost throughout time. Fighting to right wrongs by the greatest villains in history. It would have been the great redemption story he needed to look all those he failed in the eye.
Instead, a light encompassed Bardock's vulnerable form. And the Scarred Saiyan would be sent where he was needed.
Back to the past.
In between the Xenoverse
Bardock was still falling, surrounded by crystals and orbs, some of which were shattered. The entire landscape was a kaleidoscope of colors as no ground had been visible. Eyes closed, Bardock's Divination, granted to him by the last of the Kanassan people, showed him images of people and places like it always did. But with his interaction with the Ravines of Time and being stuck in the nexus of the Xenoverse, his sometimes gift, often times curse went haywire.
Bardock stands alongside his youngest son. Both bloodied and dirtied, yet rage surges in their veins. On the ruined and barren Planet Namek, the father-son Super Saiyan duo stare down the evil tyrant Frieza.
Face slightly contorting, an unconsciousness Bardock continues to fall…
Bardock, in the form of a Super Saiyan 4, impassively stares down the androids who dared maimed his grandson. Behind the scarred warrior was his grandson, clad in a Gi like Goku's and missing an arm.
Bardock didn't care about the Androids or their power. All he wanted was them dead by his hand. Gohan had already done his part.
Bardock's right hand twitches…
Bardock, Goku and Vegeta all watched with great anticipation as Frieza descended down the ramp of the ship. Following the Cold Emperor were the two newest members of his crew, both of whom were Saiyans lost on the backwater planet of Vampa.
Bardock easily recognized Paragus. The former officer had been on missions with Bardock before and despite the high rank Paragus held, he was never stronger than the strongest Low-Class.
When the trio of Saiyans turned their attention towards the behemoth standing next to Paragus, his presence gave them pause. Powerful was a bit of an understatement. Just from the look of his eyes alone, this younger Saiyan next to Paragus was going to be a real challenge if things went south.
A light outlines Bardock's form…
Acnologia and Zeref put aside their mutual hatred of each other for a greater goal. Now, their focus was fighting the alien warrior who changed the course of history with his very presence. Bardock on the other hand was bored. This was meant to be a defining moment for the Light Guilds and the Kingdom of Fiore. Instead, the Saiyan Rebel was just cleaning up another mess.
Jumping straight into Super Saiyan, Bardock cracked his knuckles while glaring ahead. He eyed both the Black Dragon and the Black Wizard with impassiveness. And while he knew that killing the two would be easy, he sorely wished Natsu would be here to take out the trash.
Starry bits of magic and Ki start flocking to Bardock, encompassing him in a magnificent aura…
Tsunade had been a blessing in his turbulent life. The Yellow Flash had named Bardock the guardian of the village in which he gave his life for. He was also named the bodyguard for Kushina Uzumaki-Namikaze and later Mikoto Uchiha, thanks to bullshit politics in the Elemental Nations.
Life had been good being the strongest warrior on the planet. Adapting a training schedule was difficult at times but doable. Only the Tailed Beasts and their loyal partners presented any semblance of a challenge or good warmup.
That was then. This is now.
Standing before him was the subject of his ire. A rogue and long thought dead member of a clan that was nearly purged from the world.
Obito Uchiha, Minato's old student and Kakashi's friend.
Rage empowering him into Super Saiyan 2, Bardock was not going to waste time wiping the poor bastard off the face of the planet.
And then that insufferable Madara Uchiha was next.
Bardock becomes a shooting star. Somewhere, a broken crystal from the Ravines of Time reassembles on a colorful orb. This orb representing a universe, timeline being remade to fit a new narrative…
Summer Rose and Raven Branwen were like night and day. It was rather odd seeing them reconcile in such a short time. Things were even stranger that they agreed to this… union.
A warrior from the stars, slayer of innocents and ruthless as they come.
The blossoming rose, warrior and hero. Not naïve like her youngest yet steadfast in fighting for the good of mankind.
And the tribal bandit. Strong willed yet still vulnerable in her most secret moments.
Bardock knew this new life of his was worth it. Yang and Ruby looked up to him, even with all the blood on his hands. They trusted him when he saved Beacon and Vale from destruction. They trusted him when he help exposed Ozpin/Ozma's BS.
Now they trusted him with saving the world from Salem and what was left of her forces.
Cinder, Emerald and Mercury were the first to fall.
Regardless if Tyrian or Hazel stood in his way, Bardock would end Salem once and for all.
Everything in the landscape shifts and changes…
Heroes and villains were a bit too cliché. It was also a bit sickening in Bardock's view.
This so called society on this alternate Earth baffled him to no end. A continuous cycle of good guys versus bad guys produced the biggest clusterfuck he had seen. At least since his days in the Saiyan Army.
Sighing, Bardock looked to the little girl with a single horn and white hair. Even though he was ruthless as all Saiyans are, something about that girl broke something inside of him. Something that hadn't been broken since that mission to Planet Cereal.
Those bastards had dared to experiment on her. Just because they couldn't constructively change a system whose foundations were fractured. After dealing with the so called 'Greatest Villain', Bardock thought life would be simple. Turns out he was wrong.
All For One's handsy protégé was still out there, gathering more power. Even with his teacher being dead and gone.
Now, Bardock was dealing with this crime boss whose Quirk made things interesting. But that was it though. Bardock would not make this fight quick.
Onyx eyes shifting to teal, Bardock rolled his shoulders and promised himself to inflict pain on those who would dare harm Eri.
Bardock no longer becomes visible due to the power of space and time…
There were perks to being a Mandalorian, Bardock had found out.
One of those perks was having a small army at his back.
The next was having Bo-Katan as his lover and second-in-command.
And lastly… doing just enough good to prevent Palpatine's dream of an empire from being realized.
Bardock crossed his arms, watching as the Jedi and Clones conversed amongst themselves. With Palpatine dead and gone, the Separatist forces ousted several controversial figures with its senate suing for peace. With the galaxy in disarray, Bardock thought that things might improve.
Turns out he was right.
The shooting star containing Bardock heads for this newly remade universe. It is then swallowed up. In the brand-new timeline of Universe 7, the strongest Low-class…
Toolo, last of the Kanassans, had just struck him on the neck… he remembered the rage at letting his guard down… now Bardock just wanted to wipe the smug bastard from the cosmos.
Bardock followed through on his silent threat. The scarred Saiyan then felt himself tense before all his strength leaving him.
Age 737
Planet Vegeta
Medical Facility
It was a struggle to open his eyes. Bardock managed to succeed in the first minute and then took the moment to let his mind clear. Eyes slowly looking around, his vision was then met by a liquid, one typically found in the healing pods he was sometimes put in.
Once he knew his vision was reasonable, Bardock glanced ahead and his eyes widened just a tad bit. Hearing now clearing up, Bardock could hear voices. These were the voices of the dead. These were the voices of people who were long dead and gone.
The doctors, Planthorr and Malaka.
His team… his comrades… his friends. All living and breathing, clad in somewhat pristine armor.
Tora, Fasha, Shugesh and Borgos.
The only ones missing were Leek and Taro, reserve members who sometimes accompanied Bardock on missions in the past.
("These memories… these names… did the timelines converge? Am I in a dream? Or am I in hell?") the Scarred Saiyan wondered.
So, Bardock listened in on the conversation that was happening. It was eerily similar to what happened the first time around.
Tora crossed his arms and looked to the doctor.
"Give it to me straight Doc, how's our boy doin?" he asked.
Planthorr hummed and then looked to Malaka, the reptilian alien stepping forward.
"Physically everything is in the green. But from what we were able to observe his brainwave activity was rather abnormal." Malaka noted.
"In the report you said he was struck by the last remaining native of Kanassa yes? Rumors has it those people carried strange abilities with them." Planthorr added.
Fasha rolled her eyes and placed a hand on her hip.
"Strange abilities or not, how long is Bardock going to be out for?" she asked.
Planthorr rubbed his beard in contemplation. Placing his hands behind his back, he glanced over at a monitor.
"Since there's no physical ailments, I'd give it another 24 to 48 hours recovery time. While I won't rule out him recovering much sooner, that is our estimate." He said.
Tora sighed and looked to Fasha who shrugged. Shugesh punched his palm, visibly agitated.
"Man! Talk about a bummer! That means Bardock's missing the next mission with us." Shugesh stated.
("Next mission… he can't possibly mean…")
Bardock felt his body tense and his mind fully restore. His power… it started to increase.
Borgos rubbed the back of his head while looking to his teammates.
"It doesn't feel right leaving him behind." The big Saiyan said.
"Well I don't like it either but we have no choice. Besides, time off might give him a chance to see his family for a bit." Tora countered with a smile.
Fasha chuckled at that.
"Heard the littlest tyke has been let out of incubation. Now we don't have to strong arm his stubborn ass into being a family man." She joked.
The team shared laughs at that. Both doctors smiled and glanced, enjoying the lightened atmosphere a bit. Behind them though, Bardock was wide-eyed and fully awake. Whatever power he had was nowhere near what he used against Mira. But the power in his veins would damn sure be enough to take down Frieza.
("I won't lose here. Not again. Never again.") He vowed mentally.
Bardock rolled his shoulders before looking down at his right hand. It slowly curled before clenching into a fist. His strength and vigor renewed gave him a new feeling of resolve that he hadn't felt since facing down Mira. Eyes narrowing, Bardock looked to his comrades and the doctors. No way was his team leaving him behind just to get slaughtered again.
("Let's rewrite history.")
And so he punched the glass.
CRASH!
Startled, the group of Saiyans and the two doctors step back as healing fluid rushes along the floor. Blinking, Tora takes a step forward in front of the group to see his best friend kneeling on the floor.
"Bardock?" Tora whispered.
The father of Raditz and Kakarot… the husband and mate to Gine… was finally back with a vengeance. Slowly rising from his kneeling position, Bardock was thankfully clad in a pair of trunks that reached to the middle of his thighs. In Bardock's right hand was the breathing mask that he was wearing moments before. Bardock dropped the mask before his hand became a fist again.
Standing tall, Bardock smirked and looked his old friend dead in the eyes.
"You thinking of starting a party without me? Think again."
A/N: Cut!
So, Bardock defeats Mira at the end of XV2. He ends up passing out in the Ravines of Time and transported across dimensions. When he wakes up, his soul and a great amount of power has come to his body from just before the Planet Meat mission. How much power? Here's a hint, no more Super Saiyan 3 sadly. You will see how much power Bardock gained and lost when being thrown back in time.
This new timeline he is in is a blend of Minus, Super and Z. Leek and Taro were present in the Minus/Super timeline but not in the original Z. Bardock's team is present in both timelines, they were killed offscreen during the events of DBS Broly.
What do you think? Good? Bad? Meh?
I appreciate you all for tuning in. Be sure to leave something in the comment/review section.
See ya later!
