"Chapter 1: A busy day ahead"
January 27th, 2014, San Francisco.
Shelter 17 was having a extremely busy day today as the sun beamed over the city. It was a nonofficial holiday event in San Francisco called "Adopt a dog day." It was a holiday in honor of the Pound Puppies and its international organization. The pound was prosperous due to the Pound Puppies adoption missions, but today was different, this was because the people coming in wasn't as big as expected. The pups came in and out due to children persuading their parents for a pup or two. Mcleish, Olaf, and Lucas were signing adoption papers and helping children choose the right dog. The Pound Puppies and Super Secret Pup Club also helped with the adoptions as the day went by. Lucas watched the dogs interact with the people as they came, until he saw his younger brother Mark wondering the pound without his dad's supervision. Mark was 10 years old and had black medium hair, a light blue shirt, and dark grey pants. He also had two black fox tails, which gave him the ability to fly. Lucas raced over to check on him, fortunately he was alright. "Why are you all alone? where's dad?" Lucas asked Mark. "Dad is at work and i wanna see the doggy." Mark said. "But are you sure, because we don't have a pet yet." Lucas asked. Before Mark could answer, Samantha and Jaco came and surprised Lucas almost immediately. Samantha had the same yellow hair as Lucas but longer, and her shoes were pink boots with a red bottom. Her shirt was purple and basic, and so were her white shorts. Samantha was Lucas's girlfriend being the same age as him. Jaco had white long hair similar to knuckles the echidna's hair. He had a white T-shirt, navy blue pants, and shoes similar to knuckles shoes. He also had Knuckles's gloves with a black strap in the middle. Jaco was one year older than lucas, but still the same height as him, just only one inch taller. They all soon rejoiced and went over to Mcleish and Olaf, who were bewildered. "Mcleish, Olaf, these are my friends, Mark, Samantha, and Jaco. Mark is my younger brother, Samantha's my girlfriend, and Jaco's my long time best friend." Lucas said enthusiastically. The pound puppies came over to greet them and know each other. Mcleish's mother, Agatha, and the Henderson's and Mr Stinkman came over to greet them all as well. "So you're all wondering why I have so many friends, which makes sense. So, here is the best simplified explanation in my opinion." Lucas said. "Me, Mark, Samantha, and Jaco are part of a group called the Z Fighters." He said as everyone looked at him curious. "My team and I have all been through difficult times and situations, but overall we still made it to the end. We also have other friends and members, but they either moved on or left the team." He said. "Hope you enjoy the rest of the day!" Lucas said as him and his team left the pound in a hurry. "Let's go and explain everything shall we?" Lucas asked his team. "Right." Jaco responded as they ran off in the distance.
3 hours later...
Lucas and Mark arrived at their apartment and greeted their dad, who was reading the mail. "Hey daddy!" Mark said happily. Carl looked at mark, got up, and hugged him gently. "How's my young boy doing?" Carl asked mark. "Great! Lucas and his buddies reunited!" Mark said. Carl put Mark down and pulled out his cell phone. He immediately began to call his advisor, who was still in Alaska. Carl talked with his advisor for a while until he and his family heard a knock at the door. Carl told his children to stay put while he checked the door. He soon realized it was the mayor of San Francisco. "Mr Mayor. What's going on?" He asked him. "Come on over to Shelter 17! We need you, your friends, and family to come over immediately!" The mayor asked Carl as if he was pleading. "We'll come." Carl said without a moment of thinking. He got his stuff ready and went into his small black car and drove off. Lucas and Mark watched from the window of their apartment as they were unsure what was happening. "Lucas, I'm scared." Mark said in a worried tone. "Don't worry, we'll be fine." Lucas said he put on his speed shoes. The shoes looked exactly like Sonic the Hedgehog's shoes. The shoes gave him a moderate increase to his stamina, energy, and his speed, and it also gave him the ability to spin dash and boost if needed. Lucas and Mark got out and ran to the pound as they had a small fear on what would happen next.
