It was a good morning in Trolberg and just about 3 months since the first Night of The Trolls, the time of year where trolls would roam the streets of trolberg to hear the voice of their ancestor. Right now, today, Hilda, Frida, and David were walking through Trolberg, heading to the Public library. They were going there becuase they had more witch training at work. But mainly because Kaisa sent her Catowl, Freya, to their homes and gave them each a message, calling them to the library for an important announcement.

So Hilda, Frida, and David got their things around and left for the library, wondering what Kaisa needed to tell them. They had arrived at the library and walked up the step, entering the library. They shut the doors behind them and walked across the library where they saw Kaisa at the front desk on her computer with Freya sleeping like a cat on the desk, while Kaisa brushed her cat's fur with her fingers. The kids walked up to the desk and approached Kaisa as she turned to look at them, happily.

Hilda: Hi, Kaisa!

Kaisa: Hi, kids. How are you?

Frida: We're doing fine. Thanks for asking.

Kaisa: Great!

Hilda: How's Freya?

Kaisa: You know. Being Freya.

Everyone then just glanced at Freya and saw her sleeping, in an adorable way.

David: Aww.

Kaisa: Anyway, you got my letters, right?

Frida: Sure. What's this about?

Kaisa: Well, I've received news from Tildy, that it's the time year where the Witches' Tower holds The Festival of Lights.

Hilda: The Festival of Lights? What's that?

Kaisa: Yeah, it's a special event on April 14th, where there's food, shopping, games, and performances.

David: So, it's like a fair? Like the Bird Parade or the Winter Festival?

Kaisa: Yeah, something like that. But it's mainly for a trial that a witch does with their familiar in order to become a fully pledged witch! And you're bond of witch and familiar will be connected, emotionally and mentally.

David, Frida, and Hilda just looked at the librarian with eyes of amazement. There was gonna be a festival down in the Witches' tower that holds trials for wizard and witch apprentices and If Frida and Hilda were to enter, then Frida would become a fully pledged witch! Frida has been practicing her magic and witchery for so long, so this trial could really pay it all off. Plus, emotionally and mentally will be a great touch.

Hilda: Really?!

Kaisa: Yeah?

Frida: Have you done it before?

Kaisa: Well, yeah, but...

Kaisa trailed at that moment and looked down at her desk, making a sad look. Hilda, Frida, and David looked at Kaisa's expression and couldn't help but feel a tiny bit of sorrow and regret. Kaisa wasn't exactly the greatest of witches and considers herself a failure, which even caused her to ignore Tildy for choosing a librarian. So if Kaisa did the trial with her familiar, then she might've failed.

Frida: Sorry...

Kaisa: It's okay. That's all in the past.

David: Wait? What?

Hilda: Oh, it's nothing to worry about, David.

Kaisa: Yeah. But he warned, this is the only chance you all have at becoming a full witch. So, if you don't attend, then you'll loose your one and only chance, and never get another one in the future.

Hilda and Frida suddenly became stunned form this news, because if they don't come then they'll never get another chance of becoming good witch and familiar. Hilda and Frida looked at each other, made determined faces, and nodded in agreement, both agreeing to make sure not to miss this out. Then everyone looked at David and saw him making a worried face.

David: So, what kind of trial will Hilda and Frida face?

Kaisa: It's usually a test to retrieve flag from a labyrinth while using the skills you've gained to get past.

David: Well, that doesn't sound bad.

Kaisa: Well, there are Laybrinth guardians in the maze. Their about 4 meters tall will crush you with their large fists.

David: I stand corrected.

David just whimpered as Frida and Hilda chuckled. For the rest of the day at the library, Kaisa told them everything to expect that at the Festival of Lights and the trials they'd face. Afterwards the trio went to the nearby table and got to work with Frida's witch work, and study for the trial at the Festival of Lights. After a while they packed up their things and left the library, saying goodbye to Kaisa. After exiting the building, Hilda then said her farewells to her friends before they all spilt up to their homes. Hilda walked all the way back to her apartment and entered the building, passing through the lobby and walking up the steps to her flat. Entering the apartment, Twig rushed up to Hilda and she bent down to pet her deerfox.

Hilda: Hi, boy!

Johanna: Hilda, you're back!

Hilda: Hi, Mum!

Hilda walked into the kitchen and saw her at work in kitchen. Hilda walked over to the table and sat down, where she saw her mum at the oven. But Hilda was smiling, because she was gonna tell her mum the news, the news of her and Frida becoming witch and familiar completely! She was excited that Frida and her will become fully pledged familiar and witch! Before Hilda could open her mouth, she smelt something. A familiar smell that entered her nose, remembering that smell. Hilda looked at the oven her mother was at, and saw in the oven was a pie.

Hilda: What are you baking, Mum?

Johanna: I'm making Raspberry pie.

Hilda: Raspberry, Pie? You only make it unless for special accessions?

Johanna: Well, yeah. We're having a family night! We'll have a picnic, a game, and I'm making this pie to have in the end.

Hilda: What? Tonight?

Johanna: Well, no. But in a few days, on April 14th. It's on the calendar and everything.

Hilda: April 14th?

Johanna: Yeah, Hilda. The 14 of April of this month. Today's the 3rd, so just only 11 days.

Hilda became stunned about it. April 14th? That was the same night of the Festival of Lights. The same night where her and Frida were supposed to become full witch and familiars and their bond will be connected! And now Johanna had planned a family night that very same day?! Kaisa said that festival starts and ends from 5 o'clock, to 8 o'clock! There was no way Hilda could make that time! But Hilda just took a deep breath and looked at her mum, trying to keep it together.

Hilda: Mum? Are you sure that same night?

Johanna: Well, of course, Hilda. I've spent hard on this, taking time off at work to spend time with you. I really hope nothing bad comes and we could time together.

Johanna just looked back at Hilda and gave her a wink, chuckling a bit before turning back to the oven. Hilda just looked at her mum for a moment before looking down at the table, remembering how her mum said that she hoped nothing bad would come. Hilda felt something from that, an emotional feeling of fear and sadness from that. Hilda remembered the last time she and her mum tried to have a family night...it ended in disaster when Hilda had ruined it.

She ruined the whole thing when she called out on her mum, resulting in her getting sent to her room. Hilda tried to sneak out to Frida's through the nowhere space, but Johanna got caught in the middle and they were shot into the stone forest. Where they ran into Trylla, who swapped her for Baba, and Hilda released Trundle out of ambition on returning home to her mum. That's what stared the whole thing because Hilda couldn't wait to give Frida her dust!

How could she been so stubborn? How could she allowed this to happen? Hilda just leaned her arms on the table and her gloomy frown grew. Hilda was supposed to be at the Festival of Lights for Frida, but because of that it led to Hilda creating a whole mess of things and a real disaster. Hilda now couldn't do this...she couldn't do this...never again...never have a repeat of last time.

Johanna: Hilda?

Hilda just just flinched for a moment and looked up at her mum, seeing her looking at her with concern and confusion.

Hilda: Oh, yes?

Johanna: Are you okay? You looked sad.

Hilda: Oh, uh, I'm fine. Just got lost in my thoughts.

Johanna: Okay.

Hilda: Actually...

Johanna: Hm?

Hilda:...I'm actually thankful to have you as a mother.

Johanna:...Oh, Hilda.

Johanna then walked from the oven and walked to Hilda, wrapping her in a lovely hug, squeezing her in her arms and kissing her head. Hilda just eased in her mother's touch, just feeling her love. Johanna then let go of Hilda and walked back to the oven as she pulled out the pie, then grabbed some time foil from the drawer. Hilda just looked back down at the table when her mother wasn't looking and just rested her elbows on the table, leaning her head against her hands. Hilda quickly made a face of depression. Deep depression.

Hilda couldn't do this. Her mum was a great and caring woman, and all Hilda did was act like a brat because that's all she's ever been in her mother's life! Hilda didn't want to let Frida down, but with the family night coming up, Hilda couldn't go through a repeat and neither could Johanna. But maybe, Hilda could not tell her mum about the Festival of Lights. Yeah, if she never says a thing about the Festival of Lights, then they can have a family night. But...that would mean, Hilda would miss the festival, and she wouldn't become a fully familiar, and Frida wouldn't become a witch!...and probably never see her again...oh, brother.

To Be Continued.
