xxDustNight88 came up with the idea to write 28 drabbles inspired by fluffy, romantic prompts that she found for the month of February 2023. After consulting with her and opting not to give my muse - who has been on vacation - a choice in the matter, we talked about me writing a series of break-up drabbles. We all know that life isn't all fluff and romance, so I wanted to support the heartbreak that sometimes happens, especially this time of year. dumplingsjinson compiled a list of prompts meant to inspire "it's not you, it's me" scenarios between characters and posted it to Tumblr.

Once I found the list of prompts that I liked, I reached out to people who follow me on social media as members of my fanfiction Facebook group, followers of my fanfiction page on Facebook, followers of my fanfiction Instagram, Tumblr followers, and people on one of the discord servers I'm a member of to prompt me potential pairings for which prompt they would like to see written.

So, you will see many fandoms if you follow this series on Ao3 from now until the end of the month. There will be some days with multiple stories posted so I can use all of the prompts I found - if the muse decides to cooperate. Or if you just find yourself here for one of the stories because it falls into a fandom or pairing that you enjoy reading. I will apologize in advance for any heartbreak you may find because I have broken my heart many times while writing the stories for this series on Ao3. If you are following me on FanFiction, you will see the stories as individual stories posted throughout the month with the name Falling Starrs before the title of the actual story.

According to Urban Dictionary, a breakup is defined as "when two people have to let each other go. Despite the fact that one of them loves the other one truly. The girl or the guy in your case, decides that the two of you are not compatible for each other. Hopefully the two of the people can remain friends, though that is hard for guys to do, because we hold on. But always remember, there are more than six billion people on this planet. So though you may not want to hear it, the chances of this person being the one, are less than winning the lottery. I know it's tough but you have to move on after a break up.."

I hope you enjoy this heartbreaking adventure that we are about to embark on!

Happy reading!

Love always,

~starr

"I'm done," Hermione said, slamming the door in Draco's face. She made her way into the living room and collapsed onto the couch; she could feel the warmth of her tears on her cheeks. Cursing under her breath, Hermione swiped at her cheeks with the back of her hand.

Behind her, she heard the door to her flat open and clicked shut. The scrape of his shoes against the wooden floor echoed around them. Hermione rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest.

"You can leave the key on the kitchen table and see yourself out," she grumbled, refusing to glance back at him over her shoulder no matter how badly she wanted to see the pained look on his face.

"Hermione, please don't do this," Draco said, dropping his keys on the table and draping his coat over the back of the chair. "Just talk to me. I didn't mean anything-"

"Don't," Hermione interjected, spinning around on the couch to face him. "I heard what you were saying to Blaise and Theo at the pub, and you can leave now."

Draco sighed, scrubbing his hand over his face. He started to move towards the couch but stopped and carded his hand through his hair. "You are the most infuriating witch I have ever met. Did you know that?"

"I'm infuriating?" Hermione yelled, jumping up from the couch. "Have you looked in a mirror lately?"

Draco rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest. He watched as Hermione made her way from the sitting room and into the kitchen, and she stopped just a few steps away from him and rested her hands on her hips.

"You, Draco Lucius Malfoy," she hissed, poking him in the chest with each word, "are self-centered and arrogant. You don't give a damn about anyone else's feelings - which is why you had no problem airing your complaints about our relationship out in the open where anyone could hear what you were saying."

"How did you even know I was there?" Draco asked, narrowing his gaze at her. He studied the rise and fall of her chest as she breathed. Her nostrils flared with each exhale. Her mane of hair was a wild curly mess from her carding her hands through it in frustration. All he wanted to do was wrap his arms around her waist and pull her into him, kissing away everything that happened this evening to make her forget.

"I have my sources," Hermione said, brushing past him. She picked his keys up from the table and slipped them into her back pocket. Grabbing his coat, she turned to face him and extended the coat to him. "As I said before, I'm done. You need to find somewhere else to stay tonight."

"We can talk this out, Hermione," Draco pleaded, taking his coat from her and folding it over his arm. "I didn't mean those things. I swear, Hermione. You know me better than anyone."

"I thought I knew you, Draco," Hermione sighed, shaking her head as she tucked her hands into her back pockets, "but it turns out that I didn't know you as well as I once thought."

Draco hung his head with a sigh. He closed the space between them with a few quick steps, reaching out to rest his hand on her shoulder. He leaned in, pressing a kiss to her cheek. "I'm sorry, Hermione. Can we talk again in a few days after we've both had time to think this over?"

Hermione nodded her head once and pulled away from him. "I guess," she said, shrugging her shoulders. "I'll call you when I'm ready to see you, but I just can't be around you."
