Forever Fused
After performing the play, the ghouls had decided to have a sleepover in Hexiciah's old lab to celebrate a well-done performance with intention on figuring out how to unfused their friends first thing in the morning.
The fused Mummy/werecat stretches her arms out. Looking around the spacious room they were sleeping in, the fusion notes that she is the first one awake. Subconsciously, she licks the back of her hand.
Something felt off. The fusion could not figure out what though. She finds it quiet. That unsettled the ghoul for some reason but could not figure out why. So, she listened. And there was nothing. Her breathing picks up as her heart races. She knows what is wrong now. The ghoul clutches her head and shrieks.
Everyone in the room awakens, now fully alert.
"What's wrong, Cleo?" Frankie asks, rushing to the fused mummy/werecat. "Or, um, Toralei?"
"I can't hear them!" she shrieks.
The fused, werewolf/plant monster walks up to them. "Hear who?" Clawdeen's voice leaves her mouth.
She looks up in panic, "Cleo, Toralei! Neither of them!"
All the ghouls look up at one another before turning to the other fusions in worry.
.oOo.
After calming the mummy/werecat fusion. Everyone sits in the student lounge, with Neighthan joining the already present, Frankie, the fusions, and the rest of his fellow hybrids.
Frankie sits next to the mummy/werecat to do her best to comfort her. The cadaver then looks over at the other three fusions. "Are you guys alright?"
"I'm fine," Clawvenus tells her.
Lagoonafire nods before adding, "Well, I've noticed that it doesn't feel like no ones struggling for control," the voice of Lagoona answers.
"Now that I think about it," Dracubecca holds her chin while humming. Only Draculaura's voice left the vampire/robot hybrid left the ghoul. "My mind's never been clearer."
Ghoulia turns to the hybrids and moans.
Neighthan shrugs. "We have no idea."
The hybrid harpy/centaur tells them, "We were born naturally," Avea steps up. "Wouldn't know a thing about what this is about. If only we could get a good look into their heads?"
The zombie's eyes widen hearing that and moans to Frankie.
The cadaver gasps, "That's a brilliant idea, Ghoulia!" she immediately pulls out her iCoffin.
.oOo.
Frankie turns to the new ghoul. "Think you can help, Scarah?" they had returned to Hexiciah's lab.
The banshee thought for a moment. "I might already have an idea on what this might be."
Cleolei shoots up from her seat. "What is it!? What's wrong with me!?" she latches onto the banshee. The other ghouls manage to pull the panicking fusion off her.
"I don't want to say until I'm absolutely sure," Scarah tells her. "To do that I need to go into one of your minds," she looks at each of the fusions. "I've been inside someone's head before and even brought people with me. But this is an unusual situation as for I've never been in the mind of one that shares two. I have no idea what will happen. It could be dangerous. So much so that I cannot let anyone else come with me. Do you understand?"
The ghouls turn to each other before nodding to the Banshee.
"Good! Now," Scarah walks over to one of the tables set up for her to use for entering one's mind. "Who's going to volunteer?"
"I will!" Cleolei states as she gets onto the table opposite of Scarah.
"Okay. I'll need you to remain calm and clear your mind," the green ghoul lays down as does the hybrid. Both close their eyes and when Scarah opens hers back, she finds herself in a place made up as a palace.
"Makes sense. Both Cleo and Toralei have high standards," she walks down the corridors until she finds the room she was looking for. "Their memories."
Within the room, she finds a large screen. Pressing a couple of buttons, Scarah sees the screen has been split down the middle playing back the memories of Cleo on one side and Toralei's on the other. She fasts forward through the memories until she got to the moment after the mummy and werecat fused. The screen was still split, only it was playing the same memories at the same time. Going further, the banshee stops at that moment when they and the rest of the ghouls decided to go to bed and then to the moment the fusion woke up to see one image on the screen.
Scarah opens her eyes and sits up on the table. The ghoul now wears a solemn look.
Cleolei turns to the banshee. "What did you find out? Can you fix me, er us?"
The banshee looks at the poor ghoul. "I can't fix you," she sighs. "It seems that your body could not handle having two separate minds. So, it had to readjust what goes on in your head. Your body combined the two minds into a single one."
Frankie steps up to the green ghoul. "What does that mean, Scarah?"
"Essentially," turns back to the fused mummy/werecat. "Cleo and Toralei do not exist anymore." At that revelation, Cleolei starts crying. Scarah then faces the three remaining fusions. "The same must also apply to all of you."
The fusion's eyes widen and turn to one another out of worry.
Cleolei starts sobbing. "I don't know who I am. Who am I if I'm neither Cleo nor Toralei? What do I do now?"
The fusions gather around the mummy/werecat into a group hug.
