If you love Juliette, you have to end it and never see her again. He couldn't say he hadn't been warned. He was a Grimm and ever since he'd found out, it had been a defining factor of his life. But, he'd selfishly thought she had a right to know what was going on and they could get through it together. He should have known. It hadn't gone smoothly even from the start. Right after he'd told her, Adalind had come after her and nearly ruined everything right then. But, they'd made it through it. And then they'd had the opportunity to leave it all behind and start over. Go back to normal. Go back to a life that she deserved. A life that was safe and in which it was enough just to be happy with her. They'd decided not to together. But, he had been the one to even put her in that position to begin with. No way around it. He had destroyed her life.

Now, he couldn't even give her the courtesy of looking her in the eye. But she hadn't even given him the courtesy of telling him. She should have come to him first. And yet, would that have changed his reaction? He couldn't honestly say he knew. But it would have helped.

He'd tried to strangle her. He'd have sworn that was an impossibility up until the moment it happened. There had been cracks along the way, but he still loved her. Why had it been so had for him to see that? And now he couldn't take it back. Just like she couldn't take back getting his mother killed. Whether she'd intended to or not. So where'd that leave him? Bewildered. Devastated. And a father to his enemy.

"All we had is gone now. Tell them I was happy. And now my heart is broken. All my scars are open. Tell them what I hoped would be impossible." - Impossible by Shontelle

A/N: Yes, it's Valentine's Day. And my favorite fictional couples are all making terrible decisions my brain can't let go. So, I'm spending it putting pent up frustration into character study pieces. Hope you enjoy and let me know what you think.
