Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright, and Marcy Wu were all shopping at separate grocery stores on Valentine's Day after they got finished with work for the day.
They went to separate stores because they didn't want to take the chance of running into one another at the same store. You see, each girl was going to surprise the other two with gifts of flowers and chocolates.
Each one got a different brand of chocolates for the other two, so that there was some variety to as what chocolates each of the girls would receive. They did the same for flowers. Anne would be getting roses for her girlfriends, Sasha got sunflowers for her girlfriends, and Marcy got chrysanthemums for her girfriends.
This was to be quite a gift exchange. This was the first Valentine's Day they were going to spend together since they started their polyamorous relationship. And that would be only the beginning of a romantic night for the trio.
When all three were home, the girls exchanged their flowers and chocolates. They also exchanged homemade valentines, with Anne receiving ones that were frog-themed, Sasha receiving ones that were toad-themed, and Marcy receiving ones that were newt-themed. Obviously, Amphibia still meant a lot to them.
Since Anne was the most well-versed in cooking, she would be the one making dinner for herself and her girlfriends. She made everyone drunken noodles, one of many Thai dishes Anne learned to make from her parents.
Anne called her girlfriends to the dining room when dinner was all plated and ready to eat. "OK girls, dinner is ready!".
Marcy and Sasha got into the dining room. "What is this?" Marcy asked.
"Drunken noodles, one of many things I learned to cook from my parents. Despite the name, there's no alcohol in it", Anne said.
"Looks delicious," Sasha said.
"Dig in girls, but this night won't end with this meal," Anne said.
Anne, Marcy, and Sasha all enjoyed the drunken noodles. They would have many more nights of delicious meals made by the girl who came from a family of chefs, but they wouldn't necessarily all be Thai dishes. Anne pledged to learn more about other cuisines to put variety in her life and those of her girlfriends, who she hoped to make her wives one day.
The girls went into the living room to watch a romantic movie, which befit the fact that today was Valentine's Day.
Since the apartment belonged to Sasha, the others agreed to let her choose the movie. Once they lived in their new house which they share ownership of, they would alternate who would choose the movie to watch on Valentine's night.
Sasha brought out a Blu-ray of "Sleepless in Seattle". She said, "this here is 'Sleepless in Seattle'. I think it is the most romantic movie ever. My parents loved it, and I think you two will love it too."
Anne said, "my parents loved that movie too."
Marcy said, "mine too."
The three watched the movie for the first time together. There was some sadness in the beginning of the movie given the lead actor Tom Hanks' character was losing his wife to cancer.
The movie of course needed a happy ending for the movie to be appropriate for Valentine's Day. And it did not disappoint. Sam and Meg Ryan's character realized their feelings for each other on the observation deck of the Empire State Building, which led to cheering from Anne and Marcy, not to mention Sasha.
Anne said, "this was a really good movie, thank you Sasha, and happy Valentine's Day to you and Marcy."
Sasha said, "happy Valentine's Day to the both of you too."
Marcy said, "same to you."
This thus far was the best Valentine's Day for either member of the Calamity Trio. And there would be many more ahead. But a huge fight awaited them. The one to make polyamorous marriages involving groups of up to four people legal on the federal level.
Until it was legal, the trio couldn't function as a single married unit legally. And it was a fight they were certain they could win. So many people were on their side regarding this, so they would have allies in this fight.
