Levity shuffles though this satchel, trying to find a couple of coins to buy a drink. His hands bush against ancient artifacts and maps, before finally finding a satchel of coins. He looks up at the decrepit bar, as good as any of a place to stop by in this time. He pushes through the hinged doors and enters.
Inside are a couple of ruffians, and they all look up at the Warlock, and the shotgun hung across his back. Levity pays no attention to them, and strides up to the cracked bar.
"Hey there mister, what can I get ya?" The bartender says.
"Water," Levity replies
"Sure thing, figured someone of your type would want something stronger." The bartender pours him a cold glass.
Levity chuckles, and picks up his glass. He turns around to see a cloaked Hunter looking up at him from his playing cards.
"What?" Levity asks.
The Hunter cocks his head, "Water? Of all things? Water?"
"It's refreshing," Levity replies. "Got a long road ahead."
The Hunter rolls his eyes, takes a sip from his glass of milk, and goes back to his cards. Levity notices a robotic hand hanging on his belt.
"Where'd you find that?" He asks
"Venus," the Hunter replies without looking up from his cards. "And less so found it, more so killed it."
"I've read reports on that, robotic humanoids with cannons for arms, and a white substance encased in their chest."
"Substance?" The Hunter asks.
"Yeah it looks like….lemme take that" Levity grabs the Hunter's glass of milk and pours water into it. He mixes them together and snaps his fingers. Arc energy pulsates out, charging the liquid.
"That was my milk." The Hunter says.
"Yeah yeah, but it looked like this right?"
"….yeah…" the Hunter replies, before taking the cup back, examining it with a look of distain. "How'd you hear about them? No one's really gone to Venus."
"I do a lot of reading," Levity responds, taking a sip from his water.
"Huh, got a name?" The Hunter asks.
"Levity," the Hunter looks confused, as if he's never heard that word before, "and this is HUD." The Warlocks ghost appears over his right shoulder. "Yours?"
The Hunter taps a card on the table, "Ace," he says. He summons his ghost too, "and this is Jack."
"Howdy," Jack says to both Levity and HUD
"Pleasure," HUD replies in her soothing tone.
"So you two are Guardians eh?" A ruffian says.
"We don't take kindly to your kind here," another chips in.
Levity looks at Ace, then back at the crowd, "no worries, we'll leave."
"No," another says, drawing a knife, "you won't."
"Look we're a batch of fine gentlemen, we can find a solution," Levity says trying to diffuse the situation.
"There's nothing 'gentle' about us," one says, he draws a pistol and levels it with Levity's head.
BOOM*
A shot rings out, Levity looks over to see Ace has drawn his iron, the ruffian drops to the ground hard. The rest of the crowd looks down at the man and enraged, charges the two guardians.
"This should be fun," the bartender says.
Ace throws a knife into the first approaching man, and then quickly fans the hammer on his piece, dropping the other two. The last two men look at each other scared, and take a step back. Ace holsters his iron.
"Well, that was harsh," Levity says.
"You ain't seen nothin yet," Ace says, he turns his back to collect the playing cards he brought.
Suddenly one of the men charges Ace. Levity pulls his hand back, ready to melee the man, but Ace draws another revolver.
CRACK*
The round pierces though the man, and imbeds itself in the wall behind him. Ace moves the jagged revolver over to the next man, who drops his knife and holds his hands up.
"Go,"
The man runs away.
Ace then hide the gun away, turning to Levity.
"Now we should go,"
"I agree," Levity says, grabbing his bag and finishing his drink.
"Thank you for your hospitality, please don't say anything," he says the bartender, he places a couple extra coins on the half-refurbished bar counter.
"Anytime brother," the bartender says. He snaps his fingers and Solar flares dart out from them, vaporizing the bodies on the floor, but leaving behind their valuables. "And don't say anything 'bout me neither, trust goes a long way." He smiles.
Levity nods his head, and the two leave.
