A/N: I hope you like it :)
It was a day after Jade had seen Beck almost kiss Tori over the webcam and she still felt horrible. To her surprise Tori had denied Beck and that because she was her friend. However that Beck even wanted to kiss Tori hurt. Since Tori had come to Hollywood Arts Jade had always been afraid that this would happen, Beck wanting Tori and not her and now it had happened. She knew what the right thing to do was, but she had always been better in doing the mean thing. However she didn't like to be in someone's debt and right now she owned Tori a favor.
"Vega, I have to talk to you." She said as soon as she saw Tori approach her locker.
"Why?" Tori looked at Jade with a mix of fear and hesitation.
"Just come." Jade pulled Tori into the janitor's closet without further explanation. If she was doing the right thing at least no one else should witness her being nice.
"My father is a cop." Were Tori's first words when the door closed behind them.
"I know and I don't care." Tori flinched at that and Jade could only roll her eyes. "I'm not going to hurt you."
"You are not? I know you saw Beck and me yesterday." Tori admitted. After Beck had left she had found out that the webcam was still on and she had pieced together what must have happened when she had talked to Cat this morning.
Jade felt her fists clench automatically and found it difficult to clear her head of the hurtful pictures that were now constantly replaying in her mind. Determined to not let her anger get the best of her, she swallowed the lump in her throat and she spoke up.
"I did and I'm okay with it. Feel free to date Beck. I don't care."
Tori's eyes widened and she looked at her in disbelieve.
"That's a trap. I just know some accident will happen to me now. A piano falling on me or my stuff exploding or-"
Jade rolled her eyes. She should have known that stupid Vega would be too dense to realize that she meant what she had said. Harshly pulling the still panicking girl out of the janitor's closet, she saw the only person who could prove that she was serious, her ex-boyfriend Beck. It hurt to see him again after yesterday, but she suppressed the pain in her heart and approached him with the still struggling Tori.
"You have known me long enough to notice if I'm lying, so would you tell Vega here that I seriously don't have a problem when you two go on dates." Rolling her eyes she added when Tori looked doubtfully at her. "And that no accidents or anything bad is going to happen because of that." Jade looked straight into Beck's eyes while saying all that.
Beck looked at his ex-girlfriend. She was right, he was the only one who could tell if she was planning revenge just by the look in her eyes. He saw that she was sincere and he didn't know why but something deep inside him hurt with the realization that she was really fine with him and Tori going on a real date.
"She is not lying." He finally said hesitantly.
Tori looked surprised, but turned to Jade, no longer afraid but concerned.
"You're really okay with it?"
"Beck and I broke up. He can date whoever he wants. I don't care Vega." With that Jade left the two standing there.
It hurt to give Beck up, but it was the right decision. Tori had always been her frenemy but when she had denied Beck because she considered herself Jade's friend, she had become a real friend in Jade's eyes. Deep down, behind all the mean remarks, she cared for her friends and more than anything she wanted Beck to be happy, even if it wasn't with her. It was clear to her that Beck didn't love her anymore and the sooner she accepted that the sooner she could move on.
Beck looked after Jade with sad eyes. Jade could be a nice person when she wanted to be and no one knew that better than him. No matter how hard she tried to hide it, she really cared for her friends. Thinking about her words made the emptiness he felt since their break up grow even more and their separation felt so final now.
"So it seems like we can go on a real date now." Tori's voice pulled him out of his thoughts. Beck only nodded. Why did it feel like he was betraying Jade when only a few seconds ago she had clearly given them permission and said that she didn't care? Only yesterday he had wanted to kiss Tori and now that he had a realistic chance that it could happen during their date it felt wrong. Maybe he felt this way because until now he had never thought that Jade would actually let him go. There had still been a chance that she would get jealous and that would have meant that she still loved him. Shaking his head, he realized that he still had to answer Tori.
"I guess. I'll pick you up at seven then."
Since that day and Beck and Tori's first real date a week had gone by and they went out a second time. True to her word, Jade had given them space and nothing bad had happened to Tori.
Now Beck stood with Tori in front of her house. They had just been on their third date. Other than almost a week ago the initiative came from Tori when she leaned in and kissed him. When their lips met Beck's stomach twisted in an unpleased way. The kiss wasn't disgusting or bad, but the feeling he already had on their dates, that this was wrong, intensified. With Jade there had been passion and love in their kisses, there had been this spark and with Tori it felt more like a stage kiss.
Beck knew that this wasn't fair to Tori so he pulled away. To his surprise Tori looked as uncomfortable as he felt.
"This isn't going to work."
"I know." Beck sighed.
"Do you want to come in for a minute?"
Beck nodded and both entered the Vega household. Thankfully no one was in the living room and after Tori got them something to drink they sat down on the couch. Tori was the first to speak up.
"I guess there will never be a Beck without Jade."
Beck smiled slightly before finally confessing what he had always known but only realized now.
"I'm still in love with her and I don't think that's ever going to change." However his smile vanished when he thought about Jade's words from a week ago. "I really messed up and now she doesn't want me anymore. I mean she gave you of all people permission to date me."
"Should I feel insulted?"
"No, I didn't mean it like that." Beck ran a hand through his hair. "I mean, she was always jealous, especially when it came to you being around me. That always showed me that she loved me as weird as that probably sounds and now she is even alright with us going on dates. I lost her."
Tori looked sympathetically at Beck. It was rare to see the normally laid-back and calm guy so worked up over something. Jade was probably the only one who could do that to him while he was the only one who was able to calm Jade down. It seemed like they just fit together.
"Go to her and tell her. I'm sure that she still loves you as well."
Two hours later Tori was woken up by someone permanently ringing the doorbell. Trina and her mother were heavy sleeper and her dad was still working, so of course it had to be her who answered the door. As soon as she opened the door she was almost run over by Beck, who let himself fall onto the couch.
"She doesn't want me back."
Tori sighed and looked at the clock. This was going to be a long night. Somehow this reminded her of the situation with Jade more than a year ago. However this time Jade and Beck hadn't broken up for a few days but already for a few months which was more serious. It was obvious to Tori that it wouldn't be easy to convince Jade that Beck still loved her.
"What happened?"
"After I left your house I went directly to her and said that I was an idiot and that I miss her. I told her that I'm still in love with her." Beck sighed before taking a deep breath and continuing. "She said that I was lying and she would never make the mistake again to believe me."
So she was right, Jade wouldn't be easily convinced. It seemed that she was more hurt by the break up than she had let on. There was only one person who knew Jade as good as Beck did and maybe that person could help them. Tori pulled out her phone and after tapping the display a few times she held it to her ear.
"Who are you calling?"
"Shh." She told Beck, only to hear someone pick up the phone."Hey it's me...why are you still awake...alright I don't need to know that...Can you come over?...Great...Bye."
"So who will be right over?" Beck asked confused. Why did Tori invite someone when the last thing he needed was even more people knowing about his problems?
"The person who will help you get Jade back."
Tori refused to tell him who she had talked to, so when the doorbell rang and Cat entered the living room he was more than surprised.
"How can Cat help me?"
"She is Jade's best friend and maybe she knows if Jade is really over you."
After Tori explained everything to Cat, the redhead looked unusual serious. It seemed like she knew a lot more about Jade's real feelings concerning the whole situation than everyone else.
"You really hurt her." Cat finally said.
"I know. I was an idiot to let her walk out that door."
Tori saw Cat look closely at Beck as if making sure that he was telling the truth. Cat must have seen that Beck was serious about Jade and still loved her because her next words were just the push Beck needed.
"Do something that reminds her why she fell in love with you."
At Cat's words an idea formed in Beck's head. It wouldn't be easy to convince Jade to go on a date with him, but if anything could change her mind about their relationship it would definitely be that.
The next day Beck drove over to Jade's house at seven o'clock in evening. He knew that if he would tell her that he came, she would purposely leave the house. Standing in front of her door, he couldn't help but think that it had been a long time since ringing the doorbell of Jade's house had made him so nervous. A few seconds later Jade opened the door and he saw her expression turn to an annoyed one.
"I don't want you back. Now leave."
This time Beck was prepared for the door that was about to slam shut so he slid a foot in so she couldn't close it.
"I want to take you out on a date."
"And you expect me to happily agree to that after everything that has happened." Her voice was harsh and her eyes were glaring at him.
"Give me one chance and I'll make sure that you won't regret it."
"That's right I won't regret it because I'm not going. Now leave."
She would probably hit him for that later, but he didn't have another choice. Quickly he grasped her around the waist and carried her to his car. Jade wouldn't be Jade if she didn't try to hit him and threatened him the whole way there. He pulled the car door open and let her down on the seat. Before he could close the passenger door she hit him painfully in the ribs, but he knew that it was definitely worth it. When he pulled out of her driveway he hoped that this would work out.
There was silence for a while until Jade finally spoke up, annoyance evident in her voice.
"If you don't tell me where we're going I'll force you to stop the car." Her glare indicated that she was serious, so he decided to tell her.
"I want to remind you how you fell in love with me."
"Oh what a great idea." The sarcasm was obvious in her voice. "And how are you gonna do that?"
"We're revisiting our first date."
"Our first date sucked."
"But you still kissed me when I brought you home." Beck grinned at her.
Jade bit her lips to stop herself from smiling. Their first date had been anything but perfect, but she had still liked it.
"Tell me that you didn't prepare the food for the picnic yourself." She suddenly said, remembering that this was exactly what he had done for their first date. "Last time it tasted horrible."
"You'll be surprised but I learn from my mistakes, so no I didn't cook it myself. I bought it."
"That's at least something."
Jade thought back to their first date. She had denied him a date every time he had asked her out, but quite unlike the other guys, who had asked her out and who she had refused, he had kept trying until she had finally agreed. He had been so nervous during their first date and she had found herself intrigued by this boy. She was pulled out of her thoughts when Beck stopped the car. They were at the outskirts of the city where the bright city lights didn't hide the stars. Beck opened the passenger door and she rolled her eyes at him.
"You know, I'm capable of opening doors myself."
"As you have proven by kicking down the door of my RV more than one time."
Beck lay a blanket out for them and placed the picnic basket on it. A little warily Jade sat down next to him.
"At least this time it isn't raining."
On their first date, while they had been eating his horribly cooked food, it had started raining and they had been completely drenched in seconds.
"And Cat didn't trying to convince you to wear a pink dress for our date."
In that moment it really felt like no time had passed between now and then. Just for a moment Jade could pretend that nothing had changed, that they were still fourteen and Beck was nervous because this was their first date. However she knew that this wasn't reality, this time he was nervous for a different reason and she was still very hurt.
"I miss you." His gentle voice broke into her thoughts.
She missed him too. Without him she didn't feel whole, like a part of her was missing, but it wasn't that easy.
"You hurt me." It was true, when he hadn't open the door at Tori's house she had wanted to open it, but she had stopped herself. If he didn't want to be with her, she wouldn't be begging him to, she was too proud for that.
"I know and I'm really sorry. Taking you on a trip down memory lane isn't going to make everything right again, but I want to fight for you, Jade." Hesitantly he reached out and took her hand in his. When she stiffened but didn't pull away he took that as a sign to continue. "I never stopped loving you and I don't think I'll ever be able to."
"I can't just go back to how it was. How can I be sure that you mean it this time?"
"I'll prove it to you, for the rest of my life."
It was just like him to say something so sappy, but this time she didn't mind because looking in his eyes, she saw that he meant every word he had said. He loved her and he would fight to earn her trust back.
"I won't make it easy for you." She said with a small smirk.
"I know and I don't want it any other way."
It would take time until she would completely trust him again, but he would do everything he could to prove to her that he loved her and only her.
A/N: Happy Valentine's Day :)
