A cool breeze and the radiant sun welcomed Kano when he walked onto the patio. In his right hand and arm, he carried a WALL-E coffee mug and a dark brown leather-bound notebook. Once he sat down at the cherry wood dining table, he took a moment to admire the sunlight dancing on the swimming pool's clear waters.
The bitter taste of black coffee met his tongue and filled his mouth before its soothing warmth travelled down his throat. After he set down the mug, he opened the notebook and jotted down an idea he had earlier that morning. Kano has devised many jobs where the main purpose was to either take priceless items or someone's life. All those years of scheming didn't help him with his current problem; planning the perfect Valentine's Day for Nary.
The last time he celebrated the holiday was with his late Uncle Jack. His deceased mother and uncle made an effort to observe the holiday by doing a variety of activities. Their deaths left a hole in his heart and killed the affection that he had for the holiday. Whenever February 14th rolled around, he made a point to sleep with whatever woman he met a bar or strip club. Distracting himself with hot yet meaningless sex was easier than remembering his mother and uncle. Nary changed his once jaded perspective on the holiday and honoring the memories of his family. This particular Valentine's Day would be their first as a couple, he wanted it to be truly unforgettable and wonderful.
Once he heard the sliding door open, he calmly closed the notebook, he turned his head. A sweet grin came to his lips when his eyes met Nary's stare. She was wearing his The Lost Boys t-shirt, black thong sandals and a bright smile.
From behind him, she embraced his neck and kissed his lips, "Good morning, Kano!"
He reached up and stroked her cheek, "Morning, Love! And my oh my, how can you make a t-shirt look so goddamn sexy?!"
With a tilt of her head, she replied, "Thanks, but that's not gonna distract me from whatever you're trying to hide." Her right forefinger tapped on the notebook.
In one swift motion, he pulled her onto his lap making her giggle in surprise. Her right arm was around his neck while the left one rested on his chiseled torso. In response, his hands settled on her back and thigh. She was grateful that he wasn't wearing his knives or else their hilts would be prodding into her body. On the back of her thighs, she felt the premium cotton of his navy drawstring pants.
Kano brushed a strand of her black off her face, "You do look sexy and fuck, am I slipping?"
"No, but I've noticed you only close your notebook and sketch book whenever you want to surprise me with something. And Valentine's Day is one week away, I know how important it is to you." Underneath her hand, she felt the soft fabric of his black tank top when she placed her hand on his heart.
He moved his hand from Nary's thigh to take her hand off his chest. The amorous Aussie kissed her fingertips. "Peaches, you're right but I also wanna show you a great fuckin' time and how much you mean to me. The element of surprise is a big part of that! You deserve the best not some cliché flowers and candy bullshit!"
Nary's eyes closed at the lovely sensation of his lips on her fingers. Both of her hands grasped his handsome face; she could see the sincerity in his blue gaze. She remembered the first time she stared into his eyes at Lord Raiden's temple. His attraction to her, interest and curiosity were obvious but she never imagined that he'd turn out to be a hopeless romantic.
Stroking his silky beard, she told him, "Kano, I love that you want the day to be perfect. But I should also make sure that it's just as memorable for you. We're a team and Valentine's Day should about us expressing how much we love each other; it shouldn't just go one way. So, we should split the tasks up evenly between us; by meals and activities but not share any major details. That way, we'll both be surprised!"
An enormous smile spread across his face as her caressed her back, "Babe, your brilliance is amazing and sexy! And I've got a few ideas to show you how much I appreciate your beautiful heart and mind." He cupped Nary's face drawing her into a tender kiss.
