Chapter 2

It was a little after eight the next morning when Yukio's cram school students came into the entre way of the dormitory. They didn't have regular classes today but they still have cram school later this afternoon. Hana was in the kitchen making breakfast for Rin and Yukio, the whole time she was pushing around a small bowl of fruit salad that she made early this morning after Rin's body temperature had returned to normal. She was making it seem like she was eating, not that it would work under the careful eyes of her brothers. Kiba was sitting on the other side of the baby gate begging for any scraps from his younger sister, but when the other students came into the dorm building Kiba's ears perked up before running to circle around the group of older students.

"Good morning, everyone, there is plenty of food on the table so please help yourselves. But don't give Kiba any bacon." Hana said putting the finally touch on Rin's breakfast.

"You made all of this Okumura-Chan?" A small bald monk that Rin had told her was Konekomaru Miwa asked looking at the spread laid out on the table. Hana looked up from her spot at the older boy when it dawned on her that she hadn't introduced herself to her brother's students. Not that she really cared to get to know the people that had hurt Rin.

"I'm sorry about the late introduction but I am Rin and Yukio's little sister Hana Okumura. Please call me Hana." Hana said moving to stand before the older teenagers and bowing at a 90-degree angle, before straightening herself and heading back to working on getting everything ready for the day. Yukio was taking Rin to the doctors today so he could get the help that he needed, but that wasn't what was worrying her, seeing as neither of her brother's were up. Now she could under stand Rin with how sick he was yesterday, but Yukio had always been an early riser.

"If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go check on Rin and Yukio. Kiba if I find out you snuck even one piece of bacon, I'm going to purify your soul." Hana said pointing at her twin brother. Kiba gave her his best puppy dog eyes with a whine the whole time showing off his belly, though he knew it wouldn't work because his twin was a stickler about him not eating meat at all for some reason.

"Hana-Chan, it won't hurt for Kiba to have a single piece of bacon…" A lanky guy with bright pink hair who her brother had told her was called Renzo Shima said but she stops him by slamming her hands down on the table and startling the older teen. Hana gave them all a semi sweet smile while picking up one of the walnuts that she had laid out on the table knowing how much Yukio loved them, before crushing it in her bare hands. The older teens all looked at the girl with fear lacing their eyes, totally scared at the small white-haired girl. She was a little shorter than Rin but clearly just as strong.

"I said no Shima Sempai…it would be different if Kiba was a real dog but he's not. Kiba is my familiar and he's the spirit of my dead twin brother. And I think you Kiba will be more help in the kitchen than out here bothering Rin and Yukio's friends." Hana said before bending down and picking Kiba up into her arms petting his head before putting him back into the kitchen, behind a baby gate that she had brought when she had gone out earlier this morning to pick up some much-needed groceries, far away from the teens at the table eating. Hana was about to leave the room and head upstairs when she noticed Shima about to throw a piece of bacon to Kiba.

"Someone stops him right this instant. Shima sempai you don't want to make me even more your enemy than you already have. Don't think I don't know that for the last four weeks you all have been isolating Rin again…" Hana said backing out of the room slowly, until she reached the staircase and headed up to check on her older brothers. Hana lightly knocked trying not to wake her brothers, if they were still asleep. She opened the door when she heard a soft 'come in'. Rin was still tucked under the pile of blankets from the night before while Yukio was getting dress.

"Good morning, Hana. Are the others here?" Yukio asked turning to look at her.

"Yes, they are eating. Now I have to go make sure that Shima Sempai didn't feed Kiba any bacon. We don't need a repeat of last time…" Hana said rolling her eyes before smacking her brother's hands out of the way so she could fix his shirt collar.

"Oh no, you go deal with that. I'll wake up Rin." Yukio said moving to shake their brother's shoulder. Hana quickly rushed back down stairs to face her worst fear, Shima sempai about to feed her twin brother bacon.

"Shima, I don't think that is a good idea. Okumura-Chan was adamant about us not feeding Kiba-kun bacon…" Miwa said pulling on the lanky boy's arm.

"Don't you bloody dare…Shima Sempai are you trying to start a blood bath." Hana said the English accent she had developed while over seas coming out again.

"What do you mean blood bath?" Suguro asked getting up from his seat to pull Shima away from her twin brother.

"When ever Kiba eats meat he loses all his senses and will start attacking everyone in sight. That's why I didn't want you to feed him bacon. And before you ask not even, I can stop Kiba when he gets like that." Hana said rolling up her shirt sleeve to show them the scars of the last time someone had given Kiba meat, she was still upset with Riley, because he was stupid enough to believe Patrick and gave Kiba a piece of ham even when she had told them not to. But it's not like she could really blame her brother because no matter what; after everything happened Kiba would have no memories. Shima quickly pulled the piece of bacon away from the silver dog, who was laying with his front paws over his eyes, ears flat against his head.

"I'm sorry Hana…I know you keep telling me that I can't have bacon but it's a primal instinct to eat meat." Kiba said rubbing up against his sister's legs through the lattice of the gate, acting more like a cat than a wolf. Hana reached down and picked up the smaller version of her twin brother before holding him out to Yukio's students.

"This is a wind demon known as a Fenrir, he's about ten years old. He was born a half demon son of Satan, and killed two days before his third birthday along with our grandfather. His name is Kiba Sato and he is my third and youngest brother. Please never feed him meat because he will mull you all to death and me and Rin would get all the blame. Most Fenrirs before a certain age can't have meat if they are bonded with someone because they lose all their sense of reason, and only another Fenrir can stop them." Hana said forgetting that these kids were all older than her. Or that was before Yuki came down the stairs, Rin not the far behind him. Right way the twins started laughing at how she had been acting, they had always had to remind the younger girl that she had a very bad habit of trying to teach others that are older than her.

"Hana, you're doing it again. But good job on teaching the Exwires about the type of demon that we will be going over today. Also put Kiba down. Okay everyone we will be working here in the abandoned dorm for the next few days. We need to exterminate some of the demons, to make it safe for Hana to live here. She might be a child of Satan but she's also a 12 years old girl." Yukio said clapping his hands as he moved to stand in between her and his students. Hana pouted before setting Kiba back on the ground behind the gate so that her twin brother was inside the kitchen, or that was before Kiba started jumping up and down clearly wanting to beheld by his sister. Hana quickly picked the pup up and held him to her chest, rubbing her cheek against the top of his head.

"Okay before we get going, how about we all sit down and eat the lovely full English breakfast that Hana has made for us." Yukio said moving to sit at the table. Hana had made toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, and fresh squeezed orange juice, and black tea. She had laid out butter and several types of jams, salt and pepper, not sure what everyone liked.

"Hana, when are they expected to arrive in Japan?" Yukio asked as they sat down. Hana was mixing a spoonful of peach jam into a cup of black tea while her plate sat in front of her. Hana, ever so often would move the food around to make it seem like she was eating.

"A week from today." Hana said stirring the small amount of jam into her tea. For the last few months Hana had been over seas in England trying to learn everything she could; to be an exorcist. So, she would never have to lose anymore of her family.

"What are you two talking about?" Suguro asked watching as only one out of the three Okumaru siblings started eating. Rin was sick, and Hana just didn't look interested in food. You could see that she was just putting on a show; neither eating or drinking anything, almost the same as Rin

"That is something that only me and Yukio can know." Hana said, before getting up and moving to pull out her secret weapon in getting Rin to eat. Rin's all time favorite food was pudding; he specially liked the one that Hana used to make when they had been little kids.

"Here Rin. I know you will like this." Hana said putting the small bowl of thick chocolate cream with a giant dollop of whipped topping in front of her brother. Rin quickly looked up at her with wide eyes, before turning back to the homemade pudding. A rare smile spread across Rin's face as he picked up the spoon and started mixing the two together before he took his first bite. Hana was happily watching her brother eat when he got up and ran to the washroom. Right away Hana knew that something was wrong, because no matter what Rin had always been able to hold down her homemade pudding. Hana quickly threw a look at Yukio before rushing after her brother, to make sure he was alright. Outside the washroom she could hear Rin dry heaving, how she wanted to go in there to help soothe her sweet oldest brother. Hana waited outside the washroom, until Rin came stumbling out.

"Rin are you okay?" Hana asked falling into step next to her brother.

"I'm not going to lie Bean; I haven't been fine since before middle school, and than everything that happened with the old man…sorry by the way." Rin said leaning against the wall. Hana waited until Rin had slide down the the wall to the floor before joining him.

"He wasn't the old man, Rin. He was our father. He might not have sired any of us, but he cared about us very much and only wanted us to be happy. You know that you are allowed to miss him too, Rin?" Hana said leaning her head on her brother's shoulder.

"No Bean I don't have the right to miss the old man…after all I'm the reason he's dead…I don't deserve to be alive…I only seem to hurt the people around me." Rin said crying into his sister's head.

"No, you don't Rin; Daddy wouldn't want you to be acting like this. He would want you to stand with your head held high. Shiro Fujimoto gave his everything so that we, his children, would have good lives. So please Rin don't give up. If you can't fight for yourself than fight for me, Yukio, and dad." Hana said reaching up to wipe away her brother's tears. Rin looked down at the girl, surprised that she was crying seeing as it had been a long time since he had last seen his little sister like this. As Hana had gotten older, she had hardened her heart so that she rarely ever showed emotions anymore.

"How…how do you do it Bean?" Rin asked looking down at his little sister.

"I think about the good times with you, Yukio and dad. With my grandfather and Kiba. With my mates back in England Ryan and Riley. Though, those two often drive me nuts with their rough behavior. But I'm sure you would like them if you meet them." Hana said playing with her mother's necklace, it was the only memento she had left of her mother, she didn't keep the picture of the old couple and the young girl. Hana had replaced those with a picture of Rin, Yukio, and their dad.

"Remembering the good times. I don't have any that I can remember…" Rin said leaning his head on top of hers. Hana sighed before pulling herself and Rin to their feet.

"Come with me, Rin. I have to show you something." Hana said pulling Rin up the stairs, towards the room that she was currently using. Hana made her brother sit on the edge of her bed before turning to pull out the photo album that was in her suit case. Hana sat next to her brother on the bed before opening the photo album to the first page.

"Rin look at this, my 6th birthday you made all my favorite sweets for breakfast, though most of them were burnt. And this one is your and Yukio's 10th birthday I made a cake with dad for the first time again it was burnt. There's your first day of middle school. Father's Day with daddy. You have so many happy memories. You might not remember any right now, but I have so many to show you." Hana said pointing out the different memories, that the two shared. It was clear to Rin how much he meant to Hana, but he just couldn't understand his own emotions. His head was a jumbled mess of emotions and memories, to the point that he couldn't think straight.

"Rin do you remember this day?" Hana asked pointing at a picture. It was the three Okumaru siblings in a hospital room. Rin was in the hospital bed he looked weak and tired. Hana was on his right while Yukio was on his left, bandages wrapped around his wrist and chest. It was the afternoon after his suicide attempt.

"That was the darkest day for me, Yukio and dad, because we thought we were going to lose you Rin. I'm not sure if you know this or not but the person that found you that day wasn't daddy but me." Hana said running her fingers over the picture. Rin looked at Hana in disbelief, making that two things the old man had hidden from him, he couldn't believe that it had been Hana who had found him laying in a puddle of his own blood.

"Rin, I don't fully understand what was going through your head back than and I can tell you right now I still don't fully understand but I want to help and be there for you just like dad. But you have to let me in, I can't force you." Hana said looking up at her sweet big brother, tears running down her cheeks. Rin quickly gathered his little sister in his arms, letting her cry. Rin could remember when everything happened two years ago, not once did the young girl cry.

"It's been almost ten years since you became my family, I don't even want to lose someone again. So please Onii-Chan don't leave me." Hana said clutching onto Rin's top as she just cried. Hana felt like a great weight had been lifted off of her shoulders; she was finally free to tell Rin everything and just be with him through all the ups and downs.

"Please Rin, we lost dad to a monster, but you are no monster. You are a brave knight who will drive even the nightmares away. I can't lose anyone else Onii-Chan, I won't be able to withstand the pain." Hana said now clearly sobbing into her brother's chest. Rin wrapped his arms around the crying girl tighter, trying to offer the comfort Hana needed. It wasn't until Hana reminded Rin about what he used to tell her when she had been scared because of the nightmares.

"No matter how bad the nightmares are, I will always be there to protect you. After all I am a knight in shining armor and with my mighty sword and heavy shield, I will always save you." Rin said repeating his words from almost ten years ago, when Hana had first started to open up to him.

"You're right Bean. But right now, I need a nap and a bowl of your homemade pudding. What time did Yukio say my doctor appointment was at?" Rin said as Hana pulled away and wiped her nose on the back of her hand.

"Don't do that; it's gross Bean." Rin said pulling a hankie out of his pants pocket to wipe her hands and nose. It was than that Rin remembered that Hana was 12 almost 13 years old. The pearls of laughter that rang through out the dorm brought a smile to both Hana's and Yukio's faces, or that was before Rin started coughing.

"Nisan…" Yukio said coming into the room, though Hana knew that Yukio and his students had been listening the whole time; she wasn't expecting them all to come barging into the room, after all she was sure that they all feared or hated her brother still, and after her show this morning they most likely feared her too.

"Onii-Chan?" Hana asked as Rin pushed her away before getting to his feet and making a mad dash to the second-floor washroom. All the stress finally leaving her brother's body

"Thank you, Hana. I'll handle it from here; so why don't you head down stairs with the cram-school students? Also, can you please make some of your special tea for Rin?" Yukio said moving to follow their older brother. Hana followed her brothers with her eyes before turning to Yukio's students.

"Follow me. But by any chance do any of you know how to cook?" Hana said with a sigh before leading the others teens back down stairs, her photo album tucked securely under her arm.

"Not to the standard of either you or Rin, why?" Suguro sempai said following the thin white-haired girl down stairs. Hana gave a small chuckle with a shake of her head. Her hair following the movements of her head, until she reached up and touched her forehead as she was hit with a mild dizzy spell.

"I can cook some things like breakfast, but my specialty is actually baking. So, the reason I asked if anyone knew how to cook is because I have the recipe for Rin's least favorite soup. It's the soup that the doctors used to insist that our dad gave him. I've tried cooking it once before but it didn't turn out right." Hana said looking over her shoulder at the older teen.

"If you have the recipe than me, Bon and Shima can handle it." Miwa sempai said coming to walk next to the young girl.

"That reminds me Okumaru-Chan how old are you?" Miwa sempai asked as they reached the bottom of the stairs and headed towards the dining room and kitchen.

"I'm 12 almost 13 years old. I was born on October 31st; Halloween." Hana said turning around to look at her brother's students, walking the whole time backwards.

"So, you are three years younger than all of us including Okumaru Sensei and his brother." Miwa sempai said watching as Hana walk into the door frame going into the dining room and kitchen. The cram school students had to stifle their laughter at the young girl almost fell on her face. It was clear to the older teens that Hana was so much like Rin that if she hadn't already confirmed it, they would think that she was truly was related to him. Hana straightened herself up before walking into the dining room.

"Actually, I'm two years and ten months younger than the twins. Their birthday is December 27th but we normally celebrate it on January 7th. I know that some of you lost family members on the blue night, and I apologize for that. But none of that is Rin or Yukio's fault. They couldn't have picked who their parents were, just like the rest of us." Hana said setting her photo album on the severing window counter top before moving to clean off the table. To her surprise the table was already empty and wiped clean. Hana turned to do the dishes, only to see Moriyama sempai looking at the picture on the front of her photo album.

"Ah they are so cute. Hana-Chan who are these three little kids; I know the man is your dad." Moriyama sempai said running her fingers over Yukio's face.

"That photo was taken the day I came home after being adopted by our dad. Let's see the one with glasses is Yukio, the one with bandages covering his nose is Rin though you might know that is our dad, the others do not sempai. The man is the person that adopted all of us the former paladin Shiro Fujimoto, and the one hiding behind our dad's legs holding the teddy bear is me. As you can see, I used to have brown hair." Hana said pointing at the three kids.

"When did your hair actually start to change colors Hana-Chan?" Moriyama sempai asked, looking between me and the picture. I smiled before pulling the magnifying glass I was wearing around my neck so that they could get a better look.

"You can't see it clearly in this picture but it had already started changing by the time this photo was taken mostly at the roots. From what I remember that by Easter of the next year my hair had fully changed to white and all the other kids in my class were making fun of me because I had the hair of an old woman. This seemed to often make Rin mad as would find me on the playground crying." Hana said flipping through the photo album to the right picture but her fingers wonder to the next picture of three kids in front of a birthday cake. The three kids were dressed up to follow the American customs of Halloween. A little girl dressed as an angel, one boy dressed as a firefighter and the other boy dressed as a doctor.

"Yukio always wanted to be a doctor and now he is working towards that goal at the same time as being an amazing exorcist. Rin when we were kids wanted to be a chef, just seeing people's faces light up when they ate his food was the second greatest joy of his life, the first being that no matter what he could bring a smile to me and Yukio. Rin since his later years of primary school before everything happened would make enough food to feed an army, throughout the week he would hand out lunches to the homeless and every weekend our monastery would have a food drive. Most nights the kitchen at the monastery was open to all of the homeless people in the neighborhood. That reminds me here is the recipe for the soup. Would anyone like some homemade pudding?" Hana said running her fingers over the smiling face of her brothers, before handing the piece of paper she keeps in her photo album to Miwa sempai.

"I now see why Okumura-kun hate this soup, it's too plain for his taste buds, it's plain white miso soup. Especially with all the food he makes for us." Miwa sempai said looking over the recipe for soup. Hana gave a light laugh at his reasoning, and could see that he understood her brother very well; even if he was afraid of her brother.

"Rin used to say the same thing when ever I asked him why he hated eating this soup." Hana said absent mindedly flipping to the page with the picture of Rin in the hospital bed after everything that happened two years ago. The others could tell from how Hana's body language changed that they should change the subject now or them might make the younger girl cry. And they didn't want to see what Rin would do to them if that happened.

"You can make pudding?" Shima sempai asked, thinking of the only thing that might be reasonable to talk about. That and when he heard that she was giving them pudding he just couldn't help himself, as a lover of sweets made by pretty girls.

"Yes, it's the same recipe that my mom used to make." Hana said before moving to pack a small snack for Rin and Yukio. She put a few bottles of the special citrus and mix berry green tea and two small bowls of pudding along with the snack packs she had thrown together for her brothers; some cheese, crackers, meat, nuts, and fruits. Along with a living heating pad that was her familiar. Hana had just finished putting everything in the basket for Kiba to take up when Rin's familiar Kuro came bouncing into the kitchen, a note in his mouth.

"Hello Kuro; what does Rin and Yukio need?" Hana said as the cat sith's rubbed up against her leg after having jumped over the baby gate. Hana knew that no matter what, the only things the baby gate worked on would be Kiba and Rin. Kiba because he always stayed the size of a puppy when in the house; and Rin because no matter how quick or fluent his movements might be he was a total klutz.

'Yukio needs you to tell his students that his class for the cram school is canceled today. But they are free to stay here and work on their homework if they want.' Kuro said rubbing up against her legs. Hana nodded her head at the message, before reaching down and running her hand over the smaller demon's sleek black fur; until a flick of his double tails.

"Okay I'll let them know. Why don't you head back up to Rin's side with Kiba. Kiba, can you take this up to the twins and then lay with Rin. Keep him warm." Hana said picking Kuro up and putting him in her basket, before setting the basket on the ground for Kiba to take. Hana opened the baby gate so that her twin brother could get out of the kitchen. Seeing as the whole time Hana had been taking care of Rin, Kiba had been in the kitchen so that he wouldn't try to get up on the table and eat any of the left over meat, she didn't need him to go on a rampage again.

"Got it Hana." Kiba said before picking up the basket in his mouth and carrying it up to the older set of twins.

"Hey sempais, Yukio just sent a note down with Kuro saying that his cram school class is canceled for the day, but you all are more than welcome to stay and work on your homework until you have to leave." Hana said reading the note, before moving to set a tray of her special tea, pudding and the left over fresh squeezed orange juice from this morning on the table they were all sitting around. While everyone enjoyed her homemade pudding as a morning snack, Hana was cleaning up the breakfast dishes. Suguro found the odd; but than again he didn't remember her eating anything earlier, he was going to keep a eye on her so that she didn't turn out like the oldest Okumura.

"Man Hana-Chan you make very good pudding." Shima sempai said rubbing his stomach as Hana cleared the table for a second time, the whole time smiling.

"Thank you, sempai." Hana said lifting the tray off of the table before carrying it into the kitchen so that she could get started on the dishes. Only for the demon cook, familiar of Mephisto Pheles, to come crawling out of the cabinet and picked up the soup recipe that Miwa sempai had set on the kitchen island counter after Kiba had run off up the stairs with her basket of goodies for her older brothers. The demon quickly started pulling everything out of the fridge and pantry before setting a large pot on the cook top.

"Looks like Ukobach is going to make the soup for Okumura. Meaning everyone else can help with the cleaning of the dorm. Hana, you go to the second floor with Moriyama-san and Kamiki-san and clean up there. While the three of us guys will clean down here; we will go until lunch time." Suguro sempai standing up from his seat. Hana followed the two older girls up the stairs to the second floor, buckets of cleaning supplies in her hands. They tackled the floor in sections, removing coal tars and any low or middle level demon they came across with easy before cleaning and making the inside of the abandoned boys dorm look brand new.
