Spike was bored. It was Valentine's Day and there was nothing good on the telly. He was out of beer and craving onion blossoms. So Spike decided to go to the Bronze. He wasn't surprised to see the club packed. There was a bowl of single wrapped chocolates near the door so Spike dumped the entire contents into his pockets for later.
He looked around hoping to find a free table. No such luck. He did however find a table only occupied by one person. Xander bloody Harris. What was he doing here alone? Sure they had a band that was half way decent but was that enough to get him out in a crowd full of people in relationships? And that's when he saw them. The slayer and witch were on the dance floor with their significant others. Xander was their table holder. The boy probably didn't have any other plans so he agreed.
With a shrug Spike decided to join him. At least there was a free seat. Spike strolled up to the table and sat right beside Xander even though there were chairs across from him.
Xander jumped when he felt someone sit beside him. Everyone he was here with was on the dance floor. When he looked and saw it was Spike he turned his attention back to his friends.
"What aren't you even going to say Happy Valentine's Day?" Spike asked he placed his hand on his chest. "Way to hurt a vampire's feelings."
Xander became uncomfortable. The only people he said Happy Valentine's Day to these days were Buffy and Willow. "Happy Valentine's Day, Spike."
They sat there in silence people watching and listening to the band. Spike was an easily bored vampire and after a few minutes he didn't care about the people or the music. Instead he watched Xander. He remembered the candy that he pocketed. "Hey, whelp. Want a kiss?"
Xander's head flung to look at Spike their noses barely missing each other. He pulled back. "What?"
"I asked if you wanted a kiss."
"I... uh... yes. I like kisses. Love them even," Xander stumbled over his words.
Spike grinned. "Good, cause I have a pocket full of them."
"C-cool." Xander closed his eyes and began to lean in. He paused and opened his eyes. "Pocket?"
Spike put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a handful of Hershey Kisses and dropped them onto the table. "Yup and they're all yours."
Xander stared at the chocolate that seemed to mock him. "Oh... uh, thanks." Xander stood up quickly his face hot with embarrassment. "I'm gonna go." He walked away leaving the Hershey kisses behind.
"What the hell?" Spike asked. Sure it had been a joke but he didn't think Xander would storm out over it. He seemed honestly disappointed that it was that kind of kiss. Spike rushed out of the Bronze chasing after Xander. "Xan... Xan, wait up!" Spike caught up with Xander just outside the Bronze.
Instead of replying Xander kept walking his hands deep in his pockets.
"You didn't drive?" Spike asked.
Xander's footing faltered. "Shit," he whispered forgetting Spike's bat hearing. "It's a nice night for a walk."
"Why are you upset? I thought you loved chocolate?"
"I do."
They walked in silence for a few minutes until Spike broke it. "Were you hoping for another kind of kiss?"
Xander sputter, "W-what? No, don't be stupid."
"Well, by the way you reacted back there says otherwise," Spike pointed out.
"So what if I did?" Xander asked defensively and stopped walking to look at Spike. "What if I did?" he asked again.
Xander was a decent looking bloke and wasn't nearly as annoying as the others. He did take care of Spike in the basement days. Never complaining when he added Wheet-a-bix to his blood. Hell Xander said if he was ever turned he'd probably dunk Twinkies in blood. Most vampires didn't like the extra texture. "Then all you have to do is ask."
"Yeah, right. You're just fucking with me." Xander went to walk away but Spike placed a hand on his arm.
"Ask me."
Xander huffed. "Fine, if it will get you to leave me alone." He looked Spike in the eyes, he might as well get rejected straight to his face. "Spike, will you kiss me?"
For a split second Spike thought about messing with him and saying no but he knew if he did that Xander wouldn't give him a third chance and now that Spike was thinking about Xander's lips looked really soft. "Yeah. Yeah, I think I will." Spike wrapped his hand in Xander's hair and pulled him close.
Xander's eyes fluttered close. He couldn't believe Spike was actually going to kiss him. This was secretly what he had wanted for over a year and it was finally happening.
Spike's lips touched Xander's and he was right his lips were soft. Softer than Drusilla's ever were. He felt Xander's hands grab onto the label of his duster scrunching up the fabric. Normally Spike would be upset by this but how could he worry about that when Xander's tongue begged for entry.
At some point Xander's back ended up against wall Spike pressed against him. They didn't stop kissing until they heard a couple girls giggling as they walked by. Spike slightly pulled away not wanting to lose complete contact.
"That was better than any chocolate." Xander's eyes were clearly dilated.
If that wasn't the biggest compliment you could get from Xander, Spike didn't know what was. "Want to invite me back to yours to see if there is anything else I can do that is better than chocolate?"
Xander's mouth went so dry that he wasn't able to talk that all he could do was nod. He never wanted to find out something as much as this.
Spike nipped at Xander's lip. "You're going to have a whole new addiction, pet."
Somehow Xander managed to get out an enthusiastic 'yay' before letting Spike lead him off into the night.
