Okay! Another new story that is going to be put on hold for a while... BOOOOOO!!!
But anyway... this is the full first chapter of Descendants of the Gods! This story was thought of by my friend who likes to help me brainstorm ideas for my other stories, Tracie. She came up with the ideas for the story asked me my opinion on ideas, and asked me to write it. I hope I did a good job at that!
COMING UP!!
I am going to be pausing my rotation for a brief moment because I am going to be finishing up 2 of my 6 stories. Time for Changes and Neighbors: Home Again are almost done and I want to get the last 2 to 3 chapters of each done and out so they are complete! I do not know when I will be posting them but they will be coming out along with the first chapters of the other new stories when I finish those. Plus when the new stories are out, I am going to put out a AUTHOR'S NOTE asking which 2 you would like me to continue after I finish Time for Changes and Neighbors: Home Again.
Demigods… what can I say? They're a handful. They break the rules, run around like they know everything, and think they are invincible. Especially my daughter, Mal. She is a fireball, though that would be putting it lightly. I do not know how many times I have found her breaking the rules with her friends… or should I say cousins? I don't know. I can't decipher our family tree anymore. We're all a mess up here. But moving on from that. Our story begins with my Mal and her friends talking about how bored they were… which also makes no sense because, hello, WE ARE GODS… but again… this story is about them, so let's get this ball rolling.
"What do you want to do today?" Uma asked as she started to kick her feet back and forth in the water.
"What is there to do? Other than sit here and be bored," Mal said as she sat down and started to sketch in her book.
"We could do our hair," Evie suggested as she started to comb through her long black hair with her fingers.
"No offense, Evie, but I would rather shave my head, before we sat around and did our hair again," Mal said as she looked up from her book to look at her best friend.
"We could go over battle strategies," Audrey piped up as she sat up straight.
"We could also drown ourselves," Uma said. "Enough with the 'miss tough' stuff. Just relax."
A shadow flew above them and they looked up just as Doug landed on a rock, he stood tall above them and looked down with a smile on his face.
"Hello, Ladies," he said as he jumped down from the rock and kicked his shoes off. "What have you all been up to today?"
"Just the same as everyday," Mal said as she twirled her pen around and smiled brightly at him. "Absolutely nothing," she stated sharply, letting her smile turn into a deep frown.
"I would rather relax like you than fly around with my dad all the time," he said. "I hate going down to earth."
"Why? Is it bad?" Evie asked if she laid her head and Doug's shoulder.
"No," he said, as he shook his head. " I should say, I hate going to earth because I hate leaving it."
"Why?"
"It's an interesting place," he said. "There's so much to do and see. You could spend years down there and not do or see everything."
They had been told things about earth for years, but never experienced it for themselves. They would ask why they were never allowed to leave Olympus, and the answer would always be the same thing… 'you're too young and will get yourself into trouble'. It's like they weren't trusted by anyone… because they weren't.
Mal and Uma shared a look, telling each other that they were thinking the same thing.
"No," Doug said as he shook his head. "I know those looks, and if you two go down there, your dad and your grandpa are going to kill you. And that is saying something for you Mal, because you are the daughter of the God of Death."
"Ooooo," she said. "I'm so scared. What is he going to do?"
"He can't really do anything," Evie said. "He is a sap when it comes to Mal, and she has him wrapped around her finger."
"I am not helping you sneak down to earth, just to be smot by your uncle. No way. No how."
"Well one," Uma said as she held up a finger. "We didn't ask for your help. And two, we don't need your help."
"How…"
"Don't worry about it," Mal said as she smirked to herself. "We got everything covered."
Later that night Mal and Uma walked to the gate of Olympus, only to be stopped by Audrey.
"You guys aren't serious," she said, making them turn to look at her. "You guys aren't really going down there."
"We're bored," Uma said. "And we are only going to be gone for a couple of hours. What is the harm?"
"The harm is that you both are going to be seriously in trouble with Zeus."
"I am not afraid of lightning butt," Mal said. "And if we get caught, we will do what we do best."
"Ask for forgiveness," Uma said, finishing Mal's statement.
"Fine, but don't come crying to me when you two get your butts hit with a lightning bolt."
Audrey turned and walked away from them, leaving Mal and Uma to walk through the gates of Olympus.
"Wish me luck," Uma said as she turned into a rainfall, and fell down to earth.
Mal smiled before she consumed herself in purple flames. Her feet hit something hard, and when the flames cleared, she found herself standing in a narrow passageway. The floor was wet and uneven, there was a big smelly metal box, and she heard hissing coming from the shadows.
"And why did Doug find this place appealing?" She asked as she walked out of the alleyway, and toward a lighter part of earth.
There weren't many people walking around, but there were a couple of people, and Mal thought that they were dressed funny. Or more of Mal being dressed funny. She looked around and saw how people were dressed, and decided she needed to blend it. She moved into a dark corner, before consuming herself in smoke, and when she stepped out she was wearing a pair of crop mom jeans, a blue tank top, and a black leather jacket. Her hair was still purple, and she was wearing a pair of strappy sandals. She walked out into the world, and started to roam around, not knowing where she was going. There were people laughing and smiling, not just lying around being bored. She walked through this small forest that had a pathway and benches along it. She heard people talking and a little girl had called it a park, making Mal assume that she was walking through a park. She walked for what felt like hours just admiring all the things around her. She stopped in her tracks when she saw a small bookshop that was called 'Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes'. She walked up to the door and when she stepped inside, a bell dinged, making her jump.
"Hello?" A man said, making Mal turn to see a man pop up from behind a counter.
He had honey brown hair and hazel green eyes. Mal looked at him with a curious look as he gave her a kind smile.
"What can I help you with?" He asked.
Mal shook her head. "I am just here to look," she said.
"Okay," he said as he nodded his head and walked from around the counter. "Take your time and let me know if you need any help. My name is Ben."
Mal gave him a nod, before she started to wander around the store. This was more than just a bookstore. There were tapestries, mock jewelry that was almost identical to ones her family wore, and so much more.
"Something caught your eye?" Ben asked as he walked up behind Mal.
"I was just looking at the jewelry you sold," she said as she picked up a pendant that looked just like the one she was wearing.
"I like that one," he said, making her turn to look at him. "It's actually one of my favorites, and I am not saying that because this is my store."
Mal chuckled at the joke, before she put the pendant down and touched the one that was around her neck.
"I see you are a Greek God lover too?" He asked as he started to move some of the books around on the shelves.
"You could say that," Mal said as she nodded her head.
"You knew to Seattle?"
"Hm?" She asked, pondering the question. Crap, she thought. She had to remind herself that she was not from here. "Oh. Yeah. I'm new."
"Well, welcome," he said with a bright smile. "Do you mind if I see?" He asked as he pointed to her necklace.
"Oh. Um… sure," she said as she moved her hand to let him observe her necklace.
"It's beautiful," he said. "The pendant of Lord Hades, the God of Death."
"How did you know that?" She asked.
"Well, I am a Greek God enthusiast," he told her. "And Lord Hades just so happens to be my favorite."
Mal tried not to chuckle, hearing her dad being someone's favorite. She didn't know how much he knew, but she was curious to know what people on earth thought of them.
"What do you know about them?" Mal asked as she turned and leaned against a table.
"What do you want to know?" He asked as he smiled down at her.
"Enlighten me."
Ben pulled out a chair for her and they both sat down and talked for a while. Mal was impressed by his knowledge, and as they talked she was wanting to know more about him now.
Uma had been wandering around for a couple hours and had yet to find anything interesting about Earth. She had an advantage wandering the earth though… she had trickled into Greece when she first landed on the planet, but thought walking around the statues of her family was rather boring. She swam to Italy, then to France, and even to England, until she decided to find Mal… not spending much time to actually explore those places.
"What in the fuck is she doing all the way over here?" Uma asked as she walked along a pier.
It was dark and quiet. The sounds of the water swaying the boats sounded soothing to her, but she really needed to find out where her cousin was.
"Damnit!" She heard a voice exclaim.
She turned to look at where the voice was coming from, but didn't see anyone around. All she saw were boats. She continued to walk down the dock and as she walked she heard a grunt, making her stop again. This time when she turned and saw a man looking over the bow of a boat. She didn't know what he was looking at, but by the way he was looking out to the water, she assumed that he had dropped something in.
"Need some help?" Uma asked.
The man turned around, startled and confused because he was normally out here alone at this time of the night. Uma herself was even confused by her statement, and she didn't know why she asked.
"Um… hello," he said as he looked at her.
He stood tall and bushed a hand through his hair, as Uma started to walk toward the bow of the boat. She peered over the edge to look in the water to see what he had dropped.
"What did you lose?"
"The rope to my anchor," the man said as he braced himself on the railing of the boat.
"Why don't you tie it to the pier?"
"I do," he said. "I also use the anchor, because the seas out here could get a little crazy, but it's long gone now."
"Want me to try and find it?" She asked.
He looked at Uma like she was crazy, thinking she was never going to be able to find the rope because it was dark and there was no way she was going to be able to see anything down there.
"You…"
"Alright," Uma said, before she stripped off her shirt leaving her in a teal bra.
She dove into the sea and the man looked over to see where she had gone, but it was no use… he couldn't see anything through the dark water.
Uma on the other hand could see everything. Her eyes lit up and luckily for her, the man on the boat could not see her. Her feet hit the bottom of the sea floor, and she started to scan in search of the anchor. It took her less than 3 minutes to find it. She grabbed onto the rope and swam to the surface, making the man's eyes widen in shock.
"What the fuck?" He asked.
"Here," she said as she swam close to the boat and held the rope out to him. "You may want to invest in a chain. This rope wont hold much longer."
"I have one on the way, but…" he was flabbergasted. "How did you find that? These waters are dark and are at least 30 meters… not to mention you were holding your breath for at least 5 minutes."
"It was 3 minutes and I am a very strong swimmer," Uma said as she looked up at the man again. "Now are you going to take the rope or are you going to stand there like an idiot?"
He reached his hand out for it, but when Uma swam closer he grabbed her hand and hoisted her up onto the boat.
"Woah," she said as she looked up at him. "You could tell a girl first, before you pull her into your boat."
"Sorry," he said as he took the rope from her. "I just thought you would want to be out of the freezing water."
"It doesn't bother me," Uma said as she watched him tie the rope to the boat.
That was when Uma noticed his features. He was about 6 foot tall, dark black hair, and a very sharp jawline. She watched as he was tying the rope and noticed that he was doing the complete wrong one.
"Why aren't you using an anchor hitch?" She asked.
He looked at her, keeping his grip firmly on the rope.
"I am."
She looked at him with a raised eyebrow and shook her head.
"No you're not," she said. "Give it to me."
She walked over, putting herself between the man and the rope. She tied it tight and then showed him what she had done.
"Now it won't come off until you untie it."
He looked at her work, before looking at her with wide eyes, wondering how she knew how to do that.
"How…"
"I spend a lot of my time around water," she told him.
It wasn't a lie. She was always around water… just not the bodies of water that were on earth.
"I see," he said as he gave her a small smirk. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," she said with a nod.
"I'm sorry," he told her. "I never got your name."
"Uma," she said as she crossed her arms over her chest. "My name is Uma. And you are?"
"I'm Harry."
"Shit," Mal whispered as she looked up at the gates of Olympus.
"Mal," she heard from behind her, making her turn to see Uma walking toward her. "There you are."
"Huh?"
"I went looking for you after being on earth for a couple of hours… but I got a little distracted."
"I was in…"
"Seattle," Uma said, cutting her cousin off. "I know. I was there too."
"Wha…"
"There you guys are!" Audrey exclaimed loudly, making both demigods jump in fright. "What in the underworld is wrong with you both! You have been gone all fucking night."
"Does anyone know we were gone?" Uma asked.
"No! You're lucky I kept watch for the both of you."
"Aren't we?" Mal asked with a cheeky smile. "I can't wait to go back."
"You're going back?" Audrey asked with an astound look on her face. "Why?"
"Because I… I… met someone…"
"Okay? So what?" Audrey asked. "Who cares?"
"I'm going back too," Uma said.
"What in the fuck is wrong with the both of you?"
"Want to come with?" Uma asked. "I met someone too. Maybe you can meet him."
"You guys can meet Ben too!" Mal exclaimed.
"Absolutely the fuck not!" Audrey said. "You got away with it once! You're not going again!"
"Going where?" A deep voice asked, making the three girls freeze.
Hades was standing behind them and looking at them with a raised eyebrow.
"Hi, daddy!" Mal said as she smiled brightly at her father. "What are you up to?"
"Oh you know same old same old," he said as he looked down at the girls. "Just hanging around a bunch of dead people."
"Well it looks like you're hanging around a bunch of glowing night lights," Mal said as she playfully punched him.
"I guess so," he said with a small laugh. "I came to find you because you didn't come home last night. Cerberus was very upset he didn't get his cuddle from you last night."
"Oh… yeah… I…"
"She was with me last night," Audrey said. "I made her stay with me to go over one on one combat."
"You need to relax, Audrey," the god of death said as he looked down at her. "I know your mother is the goddess of war, but you are young."
Audrey squinted her eyes at her uncle.
"Okay. Nevermind," he said as he looked back at the others. "I will leave you to it, and I'll see you later tonight, Mal."
"Oh! I was going to stay with Uma tonight," Mal said as she looked at her cousin. "We were going to have a… girls night with Evie, Jane, and Audrey."
"Oh. Okay," he said as he straightened out his robes. "I'll just ask for pain or panic to do the cuddles again."
The look on Mal's face was priceless. She could only imagine how scared those idiots could handle Cerberus, and the thought made her laugh.
"Alright," Hades said as he nodded his head. "I'll see you later then."
He turned away from… Why in the hell am I talking in the third person? I'm the god of death and those three must think I am the stupid god ever. They better hope their uncle doesn't find out about them sneaking down to earth, because a storm will be brewing when he finds out.
Until Next Time My Lovies, xoxo GM
