Valentines Day is a day of love. Considering others around you was a key part of this miraculous holiday. Though, some didn't understand. Some... didn't feel the need to consider and reflect. Loving others was something this red and red-headed Echidna couldn't understand. He never had someone to love him, hold him when he was scared. But he knew, this would've caused him weakness. Or would it have made him more... outgoing? No, it's not good to dwell on these thoughts forever. He had the Master Emerald, he had that annoying hedgehog, and that's all he needed. No- scratch that- the only thing he needed was the Master Emerald. His life would be pointless without it. His main goal: protect the Master Emerald. No further discussion. He didn't have the time for these pointless cakes and chocolates. Heck, he never liked chocolate in the first place! He'd tell the hedgehog he was busy, that's what he did every time.
But...
He did have someone he liked...
He was just scared to tell her.

He stood next to the glowing Emerald, pride practically glowing in all of his features. This has been a successful year, showing the Master Emerald is safe, right in my clutch. He thought to himself, softly patting the green gem. It was a peaceful day, a quite quiet one indeed. The only sound infiltrating the silence was the chirps of the flickies, and the playful cheers of the Chao around him. That was until his odd contraption rang. He picked it up, pressing the green phone icon. That was what Tails had told him to do when he wanted to answer. He held the device to his ear. "Hello?"
"Oh, heya, Knuckle-head! Wanna finally join us in Valentine's Day this year? It's 'comin up in a few days!" The annoying hedgehog spoke in the contraption. "No. You should know I'm not coming to your stupid party." He spat, anger forming in his voice ever so quickly. "Fineeee. Just... think about it. Kay?" Sonic suggested. "Fine." The echidna said, before tapping on the red button. It was always pointless in saying no, knowing the hedgehog would call again the next day. He just wanted to annoy the hedgehog as much as he could. Though... he did think about it a few days ago. He knew this "Valentine's Day" was about loving someone... and he did have some he wanted to ask... Rou-

Another successful day, the emerald untouched of the grasp of evil. He sighed, looking at the sun set slowly forming in the horizon. The oranges and yellows blending together, like an art work of the finest painter. He saw a figure flying in the sky, wearing the clothing of what looked like a girl at a club, embroidered with hearts. Rouge. Knuckles scoffed, shaking his head in an unimpressed manner. Here we go, another failed attempt of stealing the Master Emerald. He thought to himself. "Hey Knuckie! Valentine's Day is coming up... I wonder who you'll pick on a date!" Rouge said, flying midair, in a laying position with her legs crossed. "I wonder if it'll be little 'ol me!" She said, putting her hand on her chest to emphasize her point. A montage of red flushed against Knuckles' muzzle, his eyes widening. "WHAT!? THAT'S THE MOST BATTY THING I'VE EVER HEARD!" He yelled, pointing at the annoying bat. She laughed. "Ah, I love you, Knuckie. Hope to see you at the Valentines Day party! We all get to share our Valentine~" She said, flying away from the island and Knuckles. Valentine? What's a Valentine? He didn't have the time to ask, as the bat flew into the horizon. He merely stared at the stone ground, before shaking his head and sitting back down on the altar near the emerald. He didn't have the time to dwell on stupid holidays like these.

Sonic set down Tails' Miles Electric, sighing in defeat. He should've known that Knuckle-head wouldn't want to join Valentines Day. He never did, anyways. And while the hedgehog believed in change, Knuckles was slowly but surely proving him wrong. "Sonic!" The familiar call echoed into the basement. "What's up, Tails?" -
"Amy wants to see you! She's at the door right now!" Amy? "Uh... tell her I'll be right there!" Sonic yelled back, his hands cuffing around his mouth. That's not good. Not during a time like this. He immediately ran up the stairs, and saw a pink hedgehog standing at the door. "Hey, Ames!" Sonic greeted, putting up a cheery wave. "Hello, Sonic! How are you? Just came by to visit." She said, smiling. "I'm great! How about you?"-
"I'm doing great, thanks!" Amy replied, swatting a fly. "Hey, I totally enjoy hearing this conversation-" He winked at Sonic, "- but I'd love if you could bring it inside. A house infested with flies isn't my thing." Tails said, swatting another fly. "Ah yes, I shall, master." Sonic said, bowing before Tails. Tails rolled his eyes, closed the door behind the couple, and ran up to his room. "Alright, I know theres another reason for your visit." Sonic said, sitting at the kitchen counter. "Wh-what!? Of course not!" Amy stuttered, blushing. "You have a question?" Sonic said. "Maybe..." Amy replied, her muzzle turning red. "W-will you..." she pulled out a box of chocolates, "be my valentine?" Sonic's eyes widened.
He wasn't meant to be surprised, he knew Amy was in love with him. It was just... it had quieted down during the past few months. And... this felt more sincere. More real. Especially because they had grown against each other, getting to know each other more. "Uh... wow. Well..." Sonic said, eyeing the heart shaped red box. "Y-yes?"-
Amy gasped. Sonic said yes? "W-wait- really?" Amy asked. There was no way he just said yes! "Yup." Sonic replied in a leisurely manner, looking at nothing in particular. "Wow!" Amy said. "I promise I won't go crazy!" She said, all of her features glowing. "Ah. Alright." Sonic said, grabbing the box of chocolate. "Let's see what you brought."

Tails stared out of the window of his well-kept room with a sigh. He knew everyone had a valentine. Even Sonic did. He didn't, though. He was left out, and during every Valentines Day party, he was stuck looking at the others confess stupid feelings. It was so annoying, watching the others have all this fun. He had no one to talk to, everyone talking to their valentines and whatever. It wasn't fair. Nothing about this holiday was fair. He hated Valentines Day from the bottom of his heart.
